    Didn't help me get it started, but your video helped me eliminate several potential sources of the problem. Learned more about my mower in a few minutes than in all the time spent with my manual. Now, I can speak more intelligently with the local service department. Thanks!

    Amazing video, this was exactly what I needed! My D140 wouldn’t start after stopping. I cleaned the switch electrodes in the plug as your video suggested and the tractor started immediately! Wow that just saved me a drive to the shop and $$$. Much, much, much thanks!

    Hey, thanks,for your video! You inspired me to tackle the brake switch. I removed it, dusted off the contacts and got out a spray lubricant that said you can use it on electrical switches. Used it on the brake switch as well as the starter switch key hole. Fussed with them a bit and reinstalled the brake switch. The mower started up like there was never a problem. That is a strangely clean mower btw. Thanks again.

    Wolfeman1966, you are a natural at this video troubleshooting. You told us how the problem was encountered, what you did to troubleshoot it, and how you solved the problem. Some vloggers will skip straight from the problem, to what they discovered to be the solution. This gives the impression there was only one culprit and therefore only one solution to the problem. Too many avenues open when wondering if they tried other things as well. YOURS IS PERFECT!! I'm going to go give it a try! THANKS!! KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!

    I expect this mower will last several seasons with decent care. th-cam.com/users/postUgkx1VWTrayKBdCKAjzAcZ_Eg4dhHTae3LkN also recommend Also, I ran across the problem with it not starting the 2nd time I used it. There is a safety switch which is pushed in by the chute or mulching piece being attached to the deck. I took the cover off and it wouldn't start. Put it back on, no problem. It takes only a minute with 2 easily accessible wingnuts and no tools. This mower starts up first crank each time and it is a joy to use. It also mows in reverse by putting the key to the reverse area after starting and pushing in the triangular button. It will stay in reverse mode until you turn it off. All in all, for my homeowner needs, I really like this mower-and at 70 bucks a cut here in Miami, it's already more than 1/3 paid for itself in a month.

    Many thanks, had a problem with this for a while. You explained it well. Mine is 8 years old, still going well, last year I stripped the cutter deck as it was getting rusty & paint peeling, got it shot blasted at a car wheel refurb place and hand painted it in Rustoleum yellow. Looks good, an easy job.

      I checked the brake switch , it was good.
      Turned out the contacts on my ignition switch terminals were gunked up and dirty so I wiped the male contacts down, used toothpicks to dig out the gunk from the female contacts, and hit them all with brake cleaner and blew them out with compressed air.
      Started up like a champ!

    I was at wits end! The exact same thing happened to me. I replaced the drive belt, took it for a test spin and shut it off. Went to restart it. Nothing! I did meter checks on solenoid, battery, etc. I replaced solenoid and key switch, and charged the battery, rechecked everything again with the meter, same results! Nothing! I did as you instructed and BOOM! Started right up. Thanks! Dang safety switches anyway! Now I’m wondering if I can by pass that switch permanently without causing any other damage.🤔

    • @wolfeman1966
      @wolfeman1966  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ed ONeill yes you can.
      I’ve done that on many occasions.
      A micro switch is normally a line in and a line out.👍🏽👍🏽
      Put a link between them.

    • @edoneill5708
      @edoneill5708 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So maybe I spoke too soon. The mower started again this morning but after shutting it off and restarting twice, it will not crank. The solenoid won’t even click. I load tested the battery, it’s good, I cleaned the switch plugged it back in, then I by passed it again, nothing. I pulled the pressure switch from under the seat, cleaned and reinstalled, nothing. The 20 amp fuse is good still nothing. Any suggestions?

    • @edoneill5708

      So I go back and check and recheck. No positive results. So I decide to start back at the beginning. I reinstall the old solenoid and check everything with a meter again. Same results. Reached up and turned the key and she started right up. I have no answers. I did exactly what I did before when installing the “new solenoid “ . It runs great. Thanks for your tip though. I’d never have gotten this far without it. We’ll see how the rest goes.

    • @wolfeman1966

  • @climbing_for_dollars
    @climbing_for_dollars ปีที่แล้ว +1

    It seems like the seat safety switch and the safety switch when the brake pedal is engaged can both be the culprit quite frequently. Clean the terminals out and make sure they are not loose. Also, if there's no fuel in the small fuel filter area you can blow into where you put the gas in to clear any possible clogs in the fuel line. You have to blow hard though. Hope this helps someone.

      Clean or replace your spark plug, clean your carburetor, filter etc
      Follow cables to see if the have a terminal that could get dirty or damaged, unplug and clean then replace.
      Check to make sure every terminal has a good connection.
      Micro switches need cleaning too.

    • @wolfeman1966
      @wolfeman1966  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      TheFOHMan they are either switch wires from the yellow PTO switch ( if pulled up will not allow the engine to start)
      Or the seat micro switch ( if you don’t sit down on the seat it will not start)
      I’ve not checked on this but knowing that the foot pedal needs to be depressed to allow it to start... but there are many other safety’s that have to be checked at this time before the engine will start..👍🏽

      Checked the PTO switch as if that burns out it can stick in the on mode. The engine won’t start because it thinks you have engaged the cutting deck.
      Try replacing that first.
      You can always take it back if it’s not.

      Bent Elbow I hear you. But I’m like a jJack Russell , once I start I have to find the fault, even if I have to walk away for a couple of hours, and think 🤔 about what I’ve done and what I could do..
      But your right once the pto clutch is pull out the engine just clicks.
      I have a older 100 series that I’ve bastardized the wires, disconnecting micro switches as they have been problematic.
      There’s a red and white cable coming from the positive battery lead which leads to a block with a red going to the key and a red, with black line on going to another block.
      I had to take off the first block and connect the red and red / black line together
      Then to start it , terminate the red coming from the battery.
      I never leave the the one from the battery connect.
      Sorry long winded but it worked for me.
      Just trying to give you idea of things to check.
