This is VERY interesting. It took my some time to get used to the stylus pens ... I was always (and will be) and analog artist, but digital art has also a firm place in my heart. With that in the back, it is absolutly fantastic to have this "Pen" for the tablet. Now I only need a wacom tablet XD. Ok, seriously: This combi would be perfect for me and I didn't even know this exists. I had a lamy pen back in school (like many kids in germany) and I loved tha weight and feel in my hand. The balancing was spot on, so no wonder they got it with this Stylus-pen too. Thanks for the review!
You're welcome. Glad you enjoyed the review! It's great to see digital and analog coming together. I hope one day we will have paint brushes with bristles that can work on a Wacom tablet. (I know there are touch-capacitive bristle brushes, but I'm thinking of something more dynamic.)
Why u grip the pen by placing your fingers on the spikes? The fountain lamy pen has the tip placed so that you grip it by placing them on the flat sides.
Hi Aaron! Could you by any chance tell me if there is a shortcut on corel painter to flip the canvas? Im a beginner artist and watching all your videos but it makes my workflow so slow to click into the menu tabs everytime just to flip and reflip. Appreciate your time!
Do you have a video that explains how to get rid of the missing brush strokes? I am using an Intuos Pro (small) PTH 451 w/ grip pen. In CS5.5 and Krita; my brush strokes have no issue. However in Photoshop, every other brush stroke just misses. For example if I wrote the word "Hi" using the brush tool, the dot or lower half of i might be missing even though I input the appropriate stroke command- drawing or writing very fast appears to cause this issue. I have tried: basic, normal and advanced drawing modes, I have tried disabling 'Use OpenCL", I have tried disabling Graphics Processor Settings altogether as well. It may be my imagination- but changing the drawing mode from basics to advanced may have improved this issue a LITTLE- but ANY missing brush strokes is still a headache when practicing speed drawing via Photoshop. Any advice?
In my experience, I'm using Wacom One pen on my Galaxy Tab S6 and it works fine. Galaxy Tab S Pen nib size is the same with Lamy's or Wacom One's. One thing I notice, another Wacom of the more "pro" level, like Intuos, have bigger pen and nibs. Those surely won't work with the likes of galaxy tab etc.
@@frantiseksvaral7400 good for you man. One thing that i feel a bit unfortunate with wacom one's pen is the lack of feeling of holding a professional pen like intuos', from the size, the weight, and the look. Otherwise, works fine.
@@n_communicates8030 Hi, my comment about HP Zbook X2 G4 was mistaken. It is a great pen, that I am still using. Lamy, Wacom One, Zbook pens are all great. There are more alternatives too, which are great, but this ones are probably the most Wacom-ish pens. S Pen, that you can find on samsung devices shares the same technology and works great, but it is tiny ( the one from note phones, or book flex laptop. For more serious drawing it is really more effective to get bigger pen.
Two different feels. Both are comfortable, so it depends on what you are drawing and the aesthetic you prefer. Since I own both, I use the Noris when I'm sketching, and the AL-star when I'm inking. In terms of functionality, it's nice to have a button on the pen, which the Noris lacks.
@@ksojoel as a general rule, if the standard pen accessory needs battery to operate, then it's not based on wacom tech. Any wacom pen won't work with it.
This is unrelated, but I'm interested in buying a tablet and I was wondering if the One by Wacom (Medium) or the Wacom intuos pro(Small) is better. Can anyone help?
KoopKiris depende but I’d honestly get a tablet with a bigger screen but that’s because I do comic pages and want a bigger screen to hold the whole page easier and be able to draw in detail. Think about the art you do and decide from there.
All the galaxy tab that are compatible with this pen, are the ones that originally include S Pen, because SPen is using wacom technology. Otherwise, it won't work.
The Lamy al star will work on devices that support regular Spen, wich use EMR technology (Samsung Galaxy TAB S3, S4, S6, S7, notes, S21....) It won't work on the Zflip 3. It hasn't any Bluetooth, air action capability though, but you can still write ior draw with it, and use the shortcut button. It's a matter of personal preferences but I found it a bit too slippery, I would have prefer a soft touch type or rubbery plastic instead of transparent plastic on the grip, and the shortcut button is too often too hard to find under your fingers... ANd to have a good balance I prefer using it without cap because it is a bit too heavy and the stylus feels unbalanced if a put the cap on the stylus.
@@aaronrutten I too am glad to see you are better now. Also hope things begin to settle down in the US, although not with too much hasty decision making.

Did not work on LENOVO yoga X380. :( Any Ideas?
I've read that this thing works on Phones, it doesn't work on all devices right?
For example a galaxy a50 or tab a10

How do you replace the nib and if needed is it easy to dismantle?
I think it's as easy as changing the nibs on other pens like wacom intuos, wacom one, or samsung s pen
Hey mate, what drawing software are u using?
Does it work on hp pavilion x360..?
It is rumored that it works with the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra?..
does it work with older models like the Cintiq 21 UX DTK?
Only EMR tablets like Wacom One. A list of compatible devices can be found in the link in the video description.
If LAMY pen works on wacom one, does wacom one pen works on any other EMR tablet? I am looking for an alternative to my crap Hp Zbook X2 G4 pen xD

Does it work with the xp pen deco-1? I really need this for that brand of tablet. My stylus is seriously breaking the immersion for me.
Please watch the video, I discuss compatiblity.

How does this compare with the Staedtler Noris Digital ???

No. Procreate is exclusive for ipad
Since the nib is compatible with the wacom one, can you confirm that the wacom one pen works or not on galaxy tab s4, s6, or the likes?

This pen doesnt work on a Samsung Tab A (2019).
Because that tab doesn't have the EMR technology
