I just got this pen to use with my S9FE, and wow it is fantastic. I have used the S-Pen, and the Noris Digital Jumbo and this has to be the most premium, nicest feeling pen I have used so far. (to me) thank you for the review! I got it because of your awesome content. (the tablet too haha.)
Thanks for the review, ur detail on the nibs really help me choose which one i decide on. 👍💯
Great review. The best thing about Samsung tablets is the variety of pens you can get, and the price.
@@loumona76 You can buy replacement nibs from the staedtler pens
@@loumona76 the pointy Lamy nibs are the same. I bought a pack off of Amazon.
Thank you for sharing your review of the Lamy EMR pen. This was informative.
Wow, you did a review for it!! Thank you! This is really helpful :D
Great comparison Teoh!
IMPRESSIVE. I might get one and use it with my Samsung S7 FE. It seems to have lower initial strength needed, that's *great* for shading and subtle realistic painting. Also, the standard S pen side button... it's quite harder to locate while drawing, unlike the ones I have with my wacom tablets. Also, kind of weird when trying to use them fast. This is key for me, as I use the side button constantly to pick color (as much faster and functional than leaving the tip pressed 2 seconds on a spot). Unlike seen in the video, I use my thumb finger for this, so, it's my actual grip position, the finger does not need to "find it" (I have developed this ability of never pressing accidentally; wacom's has some resistance, too), so it's even faster. Having wacom's emr is also a huge positive factor.
Also... for me at least, the price is right (my wacom pen from 2009 (humongous intuos XL, still works great) finally got wrecked after like 12 years, an identical replacement costed me 80 bucks, so that's my point of comparison). If I get it, certainly will do from your link, thanks. :)
4:03 A correction/note: I have heard and seen some other people show, that you can actually change the body with Lamy AL-star Rollerball pens! Specifically those only. But so there are several colorful (pricey...) options if one wants!
np at all! A TH-camr who paints a lot on samsung tablets, called TabArts, is the one who introduced the Lamy pen for me, and said (& showed) this! :D
Interesting. Makes me want a TWSBI 580 version 😅
Ohh I have a Samsung galaxy book pro 360. The first edition. I find the spen is good enough but I’m looking for a long time pen for a glass screen.
I cannot get a screen protector so I was looking into it since I tend to press harder when I draw. Mostly getting it to draw my comics on the go. This pen is promising since there’s more pen nib options.
Thanks and great review. Have you tried the Wacom One pen? Any thoughts with how the Lamy compares with that one?
I have a Wacom One pen for my samsung devices. Initial activation force is about the same as the Lamy, has the same pressure levels, and how the pen is slanted near the tip makes for easier tilt use than the S-Pen/S-Pen pro. Just keep in mind that the Wacom One pen only comes with hard plastic nibs and the felt nib packs Wacom sells for other pens will not work with these. Some people don’t like rubberized tips so it works better for them, but if you death grip your pen on the screen, it’s best to stick with the Lamy.
Hi Teoh! Have you ever thought of reviewing the "Kaweco AL SPORT Connect EMR" stylus yet? It seems like a promising pen!
I wonder how well it'll perform on the lastest tab s series, and how that compares to Lamy's, drawing wise.
Tis' but a suggestion, & input from you on that if you're ever gonna pick at tis would be-
The Best.
Hope you'll consider it, and thanks for all that you do Teoh!
I often check up on your blogs/web reviews and they're just the most helpful. I really appreciate you and your creations!
Have a lovely day as lovely as you, doves!
Xx.
If it is EMR, the performance is going to be quite similar to other EMR pens. So I would look out for other features, eg design, side button, eraser.
Whoa! You replied fast! Ic! Noted Teoh! Thanks so much for your responsiveness and your generosity in activity man! You're really kind.
I'll keep that in mind! Toodles Teoh! ü *
Hi Teoh, I really like your content. All the reviews are very on points and detail.
Recently I would like to get this pen for my galaxy tab S9 Ultra, but it has POM nibs or PC/EL, which one do you think i suitable for this tab?
POM is slightly better if you write a lot because it is smoother hence you can write faster. Softer tip is more control which is better for drawing. Other than that, it’s just personal preference.
@@teohontech7141 thank you so much for your reply!! then i guess i will get POM nib. Wish u have a great day Teoh =)
I just got mine for the Samsung Tab S7. I really prefer it over the original S Pen, simply because of the form factor.
The original pen is just too long and thin, the Lamy is perfectly balanced, has the ideal weight, and allows for more precise writing. At least for me.
it also just feels a bit more premium, and the button position is much better.
Ik this is old but if u compare try using the white hard nibs as the rubber ones dampen the pen and that might be enough for the pressure to go and squish the nib not to the pressure mechanism as i think new emr tech has the pressure in the pen not the screen
Does this LAMY AL-star pen work with the Huion Kamvas Pro 16 2.5 pen display? BTW, Your channel rocks, Teoh! Really good content and zero ramble. Thanks a lot!
Only Huion pens work on Huion pen displays
What app were u using to write on? Also how is the latency lamy vs spen?
please review xiaomi pad 6 if its drawing performance is similar to pad 5 i can go for samsung
Nice review! Very helpful for me as an artist. A bit of a random question, do you know if the Wacom Art Pen is compatible with the Samsung tab series? I heard they have discontinued it but it's the only pen with barrel rotation which is so valuable to an artist.
No, sadly, both are Wacom tech but the art pen is incompatible with Samsung tablets.
Do you know where to get this in sg?
Have you ever tried using the XP pen stylus or huion stylus, the ones that come with the drawing tablets, with android? I'm kinda curious.
Android has compatibility issues with pen displays (regardless of brand). See this video th-cam.com/video/rsN72860vc4/w-d-xo.html
@@teohontech7141 No I meant just the stylus. Or do they not use EMR?
Those companies don't use EMR. And the pens are usually not interchangeable across companies.
@@teohontech7141 Aah I see..... thanks for that.
Irrelevant question to this video: My laptop has an 2.8k OLED display with 16:10 aspect ratio, while I'm trying to buy a new 16:9 aspect ratio monitor (1920 x 1080) LCD. Will I face any displaying issues when I connect my laptop to the monitor? If yes, how do I overcome it?
There won't be any problem
Question, how is the strokes resistant on a tempered glass screen for the lamy z107 pointy tip? How it is compare to the og s pen nib?
It's plastic so it will be smooth, less resistance. Samsung original nib is soft so there's slightly more resistance.
@@teohontech7141 dang I was going to buy the z107 nib as a replacement for my s pen nib since you can't buy it anywhere. Is the rubber not help with the resistant when writing on glass screen? It looks similar to the s pen tip so I thought it has resistance when writing or drawing on glass screen, giving it the feel of a real pen.
also thanks for the reply!
@@noIiesThe soft rubber still will be considered smooth. I suspect the "rubber" tip is not really rubber because I have used rubber/silicone tips (for Apple Pencil) and they have more resistance.
@@teohontech7141 Thanks for the reply, so the resistant is there but not that strong? If it's possible, can you please try to write using the Lamy nib one and the S pen nib one to see if it glides with the same resistance? If it's not possible thank you anyway!
@@noIies The Lamy ones with the soft nib is quite similar to the S Pen soft nibs
Hi Teoh, this pen work with samsung S6 lite?
Yes it works
I don't understand why they don't create a version for iPad... the safari is such a beautiful pen I'm sure it would open up a big market for them...
Because Apple wants to make all the money themselves.
I’ve considered getting this for my Samsung Galaxy book, but wasn’t sure if it was so old that it only ran on 1024 pressure levels. Thanks!
Also, i just now tried my Fujitsu Lifebook T5000 pen on the Galaxy Tab and even at only 1024 pressure levels, you can get thinner lines out of it than with the S-pen! Madness!
Can somebody confirm whether holding the button in Samsung notes will erase my pen strokes?
I depends on a the app and your settings
But most of the time pressing and holding the button is for switching to eraser and back to your pen when you release
lamy is so overrated. super light, cheap feeling for me. Cap also a huge nuisance. sold mine on eBay - very disappointed. Wacom One is best price/performance IMO
You could go for the Dr Grip. It doesn't come eith extra nibs though (unless i lost mine or something 😂)
Hi, is your Wacom One CP91300B2Z or CP92303B2Z?
