I’ve handled dairy fine all my life. Recently switched to raw milk from pasteurized/homogenized whole milk and the difference is clear. Laughable that raw milk is illegal in some states but cigarettes and alcohol aren’t. You know, for health.
Drinking raw milk cured my lactose intolerance. Ppl don't realize all the good bacteria, enzymes, and vitamins that get destroyed out of milk when it under goes pasteurization. Raw milk is king!
I grew up drinking raw milk as you call it. We just called it "Cows Milk" on the farm. We lived in Rural Mississippi, and one of my daily chores was milking the cow twice a day, and we sifted it through cheesecloth doubled up again and again to catch any foreign matter as we poured it up in gallon jars. About 1/3 or more was fat. You had to shake it to mix it. We drank it every day, and I loved it. We sold it to neighbors and family. i've always thought it was stupid to outlaw that. This Nation has in many types of foods, moved us away from self sufficiency, and towards being reliant on large corporate farms. The rich then hold you hostage just as a drug dealer does his customers.
When I turned 63 last year I went full on keto/carnivore and it has been life changing to say the least. Up to that point I could not tolerate too much dairy other than butter and hard cheese. Now with a healthier gut I can eat any type of dairy and have raw milk kefir smoothies every day. I can't believe how tasty raw milk products are!
I discovered my issues with dairy were secondary, when I started an elimination diet. Once I cut all grains/processed foods, the bloating and gas following milk went away.
My father worked at a dairy, so I drank 4l.... a gallon of milk a day between ages 8 and 14. So much so my doctor told my parents to stop giving me milk (I was the fatty at school). I still love my cheese but have eliminated it for the last 4 months. I have gone from 80kg ( I guess175lbs) to 65kg(144lbs) since 1st May 2023, without a diet, just changing my food and bar for cheese eliminating dairy, but cheese is a treat, not everyday now. As a 53yr old next week, 52 for now, I am actually proud. Had a 25yr old guy into body building who carbo loads compliment me and ask me how I did it and as soon as I said I am carnivoure he ran.Between Dr Baker and Dr Chaffee, they have changed my life for the better! Thank you so much!
If dairy is a problem, like lactose intolerance, don't drink it. I'm 82 and have never had a problem with any dairy products. If I get an upset stomach, milk sooths the problem. Since I have gone to the carnivore diet, I haven't had an upset stomach. We're all different.
I quit dairy about 10 years ago because of sinus issues. They cleared up nicely, so I assume I have an allergy to casein protein. About a year ago, I was looking for ways to incorporate more nutrient-dense foods and I tried some raw milk. Despite that it was delicious, I found out what lactose intolerance was all about! A few months and some more research later, I figured out I can eat fully fermented, aged cheeses (i.e., cheddar aged 24 months). Been doing that regularly and still no symptoms consistent with casein allergy. Best regards, Dr Baker
@@TheFabFarmer Thanks for the reply. I suppose it could be whey and not casein. Doesn't matter because I don't consume milk or yogurt or whey protein powders, nor will I in the future. Glad I figured out that I can tolerate aged cheddar-it's a welcome addition to my diet.
My son was lactose intolerant, we found out when he got his celiac diagnosis. He could eat hard, aged cheese and yogurts, kefir and lactose free dairy. After 2 years his GI doc said to try regular milk, he is fine now. Hang in there!
@@SenorJuan2023 yes. But still. We can find grass fed milk and butter. They also ate pork all winter long plus root vegetables and soweerkraut, eggs, fresh veggies and fruits only seasonal, mushrooms. It was a rustic lifestyle.
I love the flavor of ground beef and cheese and i have eaten dairy my whole life so I do not have probs with it. Here is a plug for diary. I split my knee open and it got infected. Wound was to the bone and had surgery was almost a week after the injury. I had to have it surgically debrided to keep the infection from going into the joint. Sent home on oral antibiotics and a three inch wound with one stitch to keep it closed to let it heal inside out as they say. This was before I was carnivore but was dirty keto. I bought protein added lactose free whole milk. I was 52 years old. My surgeon was stunned at how well I healed. I have a scar but not terrible considering that there was only one stitch to hold the skin together. The milk came in 52 oz bottles and I drank half a bottle a day for the 5 weeks I was off work to heal. I contribute my excellent healing to this dairy product.
I was drinking dairy. Living with my great aunt she only wanted to drink 1 % milk, which I drank it as well. I grew up with whole milk. I also had sinus issues and they were bad at times. Sometimes the sinus headaches were really bad in my face and eyes. I stopped drinking milk, and stopped eating ice cream and my sinus problems went away. I calculated yesterday that I am about 2 1/2 years into carnivore. I know I started low carb in 2019 and then plateaued and went and found Dr Berry and started eating meat and liver and my body bounced back. I gained some muscle eating meat. Just like Kelly Hogan said she has a sticker on her van that says eat meat and save humans. I need to get one of those and put it on my car. I can go into the store and shop and out the door in no time flat with carnivore. Where when I was on sad diet it would take forever to shop. I am so glad I have gotten all the bad stuff out of my body. 150 days NO coffee or caffeine. I was so addicted to coffee that now I have more energy than when I was drinking it. The only dairy that I consume is butter.
You are so strong I have thought about quitting coffee but I just can't yet, and I use half and half or heavy cream for my coffee. However it is great to know the light at the end of the tunnel will be great, when I get the courage to quit.
57yrs young carnivore for @26 months now. Never been a stranger to the gym, but I was unable to achieve nice shredded abs, forever. At 6' 1" I went from >235 to
I grew up on RAW Dairy. Best thing ever. Whole cream, Home made Butter, Hoe made.Ice Cream. All from our own Herd. Grew our own Beef, Chickens, Hogs, Ducks, Goats, 1.5 acre Garden and we hardly got sick. Left the farm, started eating the fiid pyramid, followed Doctors and FDA BS and lost alot of heath.

I work 70-80hrs per week outside in the elements. I've found Coffee with heavy cream before and after work keeps me level. Meal prepping for my week I scramble 12 duck eggs 1/2 cup of heavy cream and 2lb cooked bacon then sprinkle Colby Jack to bind it together. I cut into 6ths. 1 piece in the afternoon keeps me satiated I'm 49yrs old 6'3". I started the Carnivore diet cold turkey March 15 this year. No negative effects transitioning. I've lost close to 40lbs in just under 4 months 270ish to 229lbs. I feel and preform better than I did for last 8 to 10 yrs.. Ribeye and Chuckeye are my large meal . If you haven't tried Chuckeye you're missing out.
I couldn’t take dairy for about six years and i have been able to take it again after four months of carnivore. I think it’s like a signal of health. People on a standard diet are pounding their intestines with junk and carbs all the time which inflames the bowels. When we switch to carnivore or at least animal based it starts getting better at digesting fats and dairy. That’s my opinion
Oh same here. When first starting carnivore dairy and too much fat made me bloated. Two months into it I can now tolerate fat and full fat dairy with no issues whatsoever or weight gain
I grew up in Allentown Pa. In the 70's when I was 12, I was 5'2 and ended up drinking half a gallon at an Aunts house. Then found lots of milk filled cravings. Grew to 6'5 in a year and a half. Helped a lot for my body. Still love it.
Skimmed milk takes the calcium from bones. Whole milk full fat uses the fat metabolism adds calcium. Hence old women in the 70's changed to skim, lots more broken hips.
Your videos have been the most influential in my life on TH-cam. I've been a Carnivore for just over 90 days and I feel great! I am going to start to introduce dairy in the coming weeks. I WANT THAT T-Shirt!!!
I’m 5’6” 110 lbs. Carnivore (sugar free) for 57 days now. Started incorporating dairy around day 30 because of the fat to attempt some additional pounds…well, it added very few, like 3! I started with Whole Milk Keifer- made a world of difference with my digestive system and regularity. I then incorporated hard cheeses that are high fat Brie Gouda Aged Cheddar some Italian cheeses. In addition to Cabot’s 10% fat whole milk Greek yogurt. Everything plain no sugar other than the lactose. I notice sometimes without keifer but eating others I can have a little skin breakout. Keifer is key, your gut needs the help! Also adding fructoogliosacharrides is great food for your gut bugs if you’re having issues there. Do your research, support your body so you can stay the course- this way of life is worth it.
and that's exactly why you should give it up... lol. I feel the same way about cheese but haven't had it in several months and I feel like I can finally just eat it here and there without eating a 1lb block in one sitting lol
I find that I feel great adding in a fair amount of Dairy to my animal based Diet, iv got Crohn’s disease and consume home made kefir daily and I feel like it helps my gut. I don’t struggle with weight gain on the carnivore diet and am very active so I find that dairy is a great way to get in some extra calories to support my energy needs. Thanks for all the great info Doc as you are helping thousands of people out there with weight issues and chronic diseases
I have IBD & I've been in remission since I stopped consuming dairy 6 years ago. It is laced with antibiotics which wipes out your microbiome which is probably what causes Crohn's in the 1st place. Why does the immune system produce antibodies to it if it works so well in our bodies?
I just got done fermenting some raw goats milk. Removing the grains and adding honey and ceylon cinnamon for a second ferment. I have to go slow with this stuff. Its super potent.
Crohn's disease is contracted from milk. And you still choose to consume milk. WOW! Study up on MAP bacteria and JOHN'S disease. Oh they changed the name to CROHN'S when contracted from milk. So gullible people wouldn't know they had a curable infectious disease. A disease that they can treat for the rest of your life. Until the treatments kill. The first of many major medical scams.
i grew up in the balkans where we consume a lot of dairy products. it’s a pretty big part of our nutrition in general, and i haven’t met many lactose intolerant people. i drink only whole milk, consume a lot of yogurts and cheese and personally never had any dairy-related issues. i also remember consuming raw milk when i was little, never got any kind of poisoning etc. works well for me, not planning to stop consuming it.
I'm from the Netherlands and raised with dairy products. Still consuming dairy except milk because of my T1DM. Cheese, yoghurt, full cream butter got to have it 😋
I used to drink milk instead of water. I’d guzzle it down over a gallon a day. Many years in, I started to notice that it gave me sinus issues. It also affected me with regards snoring. I gave dairy up and all cleared. I then, many years later, tinkered with raw milk. Initially, all was good, but a year on, the old inflammatory responses came back. I also got candida (which I believe came from the raw milk). I eat cheese and butter now, but avoid yoghurt and milk for this reason
Growing up, I drank way more milk than anyone in my family. I grew to 6' 8". I have never broken a bone despite falling down a flight of concrete steps, when I was 52, and smashing my pinky finger onto a hoop playing basketball. I chipped a bone in my ankle playing volleyball, but that's it. I think milk is very satiating but I do gain weight when I drink a lot if it now. I love milk. Always have.
I've been eating meat and dairy my entire life. I seem to do just fine with it. Last May, I went full carnivore diet for a month. Dropped 18 pounds of unwanted fat. I still eat meat & cheese daily, but drink zero sugar sports drinks, and unsweetened almond milk. I miss real milk. I think I'll start drinking it occasionally again, because I've lost over 50 lbs and I'm getting too skinny. I eat tons of protein and still, something is missing. I feel more skinny than anything, and I have been trying to add some muscle/definition to my body. Yes, I do workout. Thanks for everything you do, Doc! Watching an interview of yours over a year ago changed my health for good!
I was exposed to a lot of anti dairy propaganda several years ago. Not long afterwards, I developed a dairy sensitivity and whenever I had it it made my skin break out, gave me brain fog and made me feel very lethargic. But after I switched my mindset towards dairy and no longer viewed it as a threat, I could tolerate it just fine and I can have as much as I want and feel great now! Same thing for other foods too! I still eat mostly meat but I can have other foods with no issues now as long as I don't view the foods as threats! I'm inclined to think that most or at least many food sensitivities/allergies have psychological roots. At least that's been my experience! I overcame all my allergies and sensitivities using this same change in mindset so I figured I should let people know and maybe you'll have the same experience as I've had. It's sooooo much better having the option to eat other foods from time to time without running into issues! Anyways, I hope this helps someone out there!
Used to be severely dairy intolerant ( casein and lactose ) turns out I was pasteurised diary intolerant and I hear a lot of people say the same!! Raw milk taste amazing and digests perfectly !! ( no bloating ect ) And for anyone who has anxiety and trouble sleeping for me helps with better sleep !!
Yep. Many people I know. My daughter did not do well with milk from a local farm (NOT raw) or a store (grass fed/organic) but I usually got it at the farm; and when we switched it was magic. Literally overnight. Not a doubt in my mind there is a huge difference. I know a few people who literally just can't have any dairy but raw dairy is surely different from processed milk.
The list that Dr. Baker displays, about the countries with the most dairy consumption (1:38 - 1:55) , also closely resembles the countries which have the most tall people, especially when looking at the first three or four countries on the list.
Yamnaya or the less politically correct term "aryans", are highly represented within the DNA of those ethnic groups. A pastoral steppe people who invaded most of the ancient world and were tall and strong. Could also contribute to the height of the listed peoples.
@@utgardkraft1412 Nonsense, those Scandinavian countries were some of the shortest people in the western world a hundred years ago. It was such a source of embarrassment for them that their governments made a concerted effort to promote the consumption of dairy, and that's why they're so tall now.
Second video today that has made mention of declining milk consumption and increased cheese consumption. My take on this, is back in the mid-late 70's when I was a school (in New Zealand) most people I knew would choose a milkshake at a convenience store as opposed to a soda. Can't remember the last time I saw a kid drinking a milkshake - it's all soda or energy drinks. I think the rise in cheese consumption is proportionate to the rise in fast food where cheese is ever present. Think cheese in burgers, pizza, Mexican food and other takeaway/convenience items. Cheese will often be demonized for making people fat. What's not taken into consideration is that it's nearly always consumed with high levels of carbohydrate.
I come from Estonia, with a strong dairy consumption culture. Generally speaking I've never had issues with dairy when consuming it in moderation, although I've noticed a correlation with higher consumption ( 1 liter per day) and emergence of pimples. I also suffer from chronic canker sores and those show up more often when I've increased my milk consumption. Recently I have started making my own kefir and drink it every day - that hasn't shown any adverse affects as far as I can tell. Paradoxically I find pasteurized milk makes for better kefir than raw ( raw milk is legal and easy to find in stores here.)
From Europe also. Kefir is great for gut health. Crazy it's illegal...😂 The more I researched into America, I conclude it's the land of no freedom. Too many restrictions like in uk. My guess it's that the establishment considers the population a group of immature babies... Too much insane laws.
The different kinds of fermented dairy products clearly are something that needs to get more attention. Also there is a whole range of natural low fat cheese products.
I’ve found that my goat cheese tastes better when I pasteurize- but it’s not surprising considering that almost all traditional cheese recipes require heating of some sorts.
During my time on the carnivore diet, I eliminated dairy products for 6 weeks. The health issues that I was seeking to cure, all went away - eczema, joint pain, brain fog...within the first week. It was sad to give up tiramisu, and Italian ice cream but it was easy to avoid milk products to prevent self harm. When I moved on to a more ketovore diet, I tried vegan milk and cheese but have since given them up after learning about the negative effects of seed oils.
I usually have 2 cups of coffee in the morning with half and half creamer. It doesn't seem to bother me. I also like to fry my steaks in butter. Same with that...no inflammation or other problems.
I don't eat/drink dairy very often but occasionally I'll crave milk. I'll probably drink a gallon of milk over a two or three week period then I won't have the cravings anymore and not drink milk for months.
Thank You for reflecting the facts. I don’t have an issue with dairy. I thrive on a carnivore diet including a fair amount of raw cheese, heavy cream. I stay within an appropriate calorie amount. I eat OMAD, dairy definitely helps Me reach the calorie intake I require daily.
To be honest!! I love dairy. But like u say if I wanna get very shredded I don’t used . Thanks for the advice. I’m starting my channel on carnivore over in Italy and it is very hard to make people understand how important it is to live sugar free .
I’ve been lactose-intolerant for 25 years, but I can handle small amounts, choose lower-lactose/lactose-free options, or even just add lactase drops myself. However, in the last few years I’ve noticed it’s also causing occasional bleeding in both my nose and gut. I’m presuming I’ve developed an allergy. I find dairy very enjoyable but also very addictive. And as much as I know I need to cut it out, I do struggle. But I think I am making progress towards achieving that as each day passes.
You have an allergy to cooked caseins from pasteurized legal milk. No bleeding from raw milk. When you bleedl like that you need to juice or eat whole WHITE cabbage. The vitamins K & U will help with the lcotting process. Drink raw milk at a room temp slowly once per minute. eventually add raw eggs & raw honey to that.
I have a little full cream milk with 2-3 cups of coffee per day. I eats goats yoghurt once a week or so. Feta - and cheddar cheese 2-3 times a week. No issues.
I am back with raw dairy (Raw cream, raw milk, raw butter) this month, and have been enjoying it in moderation. LoL I gain when i over consume it so I am extra careful. 😅 No allergic reactions on my end for now. 😉 I’ve also been fermenting milk, and it’s been great.
Hi Dr Shawn, I can’t have Cow Full cream milk too often. Occasionally I might have one cup with coffee if I’m out. Mostly I have about a tablespoon of heavy whipping cream or butter or guee or coconut cream in my coffee. I also have vintage tasty block of cheese not everyday. I also occasionally have ricotta cheese. I do agree Dr Shawn that dairy in general stalls weight loss for me. I am thinking of eliminating the cream and cheese and milk for a while Just use guee or butter in my coffee or coconut cream 😅 Thank you for all your videos. I find you relaxing to listen to. Your information is always just enough and you are not exhausting to listen to.
Lactose intolerant and slightly milk allergic here, for me getting off of dairy at the age of 40 gave me a whole new lease on life, about 5-6 months after quitting it most of my arthritis pain went away and left me feeling better now at 60 than I did at 40, like night and day.🙂
Hi, I have arthritis in 1 knee. I do have a little dairy, butter is something I have the most of. I've been Carnivore for 1 1/2 years. Did you cut out butter when you stopped dairy? I would like this arthritis to ease up.
The casein in butter may cause problems for some. You can make ghee out of the butter you've been using. Ghee doesn't have lactose or casein in it. I just tried making it myself for the first time and it was quite easy. There are nice instruction vids on youtube.
Yea, I gave up the butter too and any and all processed food products that contained milk products,These days I'm mostly carnivore type diet except I do eat fruits and veggies every now and then.
From an bio/ evolutionary standpoint, in the same way as peoples genetics changed in the northern hemisphere by skin colour becoming lighter to enable them to absorb vitamin d3 sufficiently ( the sun being weaker in northern countries) ..perhaps a genetic change mainly occurred in northern countries to allow humans to drink and eat dairy into adulthood,, not just for bone strength, but also vitamin d . I think in many Middle Eastern counties and India, where milk is not easily tolerated, they eat a lot of natural bio yoghurts.
I am glad pasteurization and raw milk was talked about! Most just think dairy is dairy and therefore, dairy issues are dairy issues. Check my points to clarify some things on milk: 1 - Pasteurization and homogenization kill all probiotics and healthy bacteria including immunoglobulins. Raw milk has probiotics like yogurt among much that is missing from yogurt (especially sugary yogurt) 2 - Due to bad factory farm practices, mainstream milk cannot be raw and many laws have been put in place in most states to outlaw healthy grass-fed raw milk as well (all raw milk) 3 - So glad you mentioned A1 vs A2. 99.5% of all milk has A1 protein (the steak sauce is named after this) which is mutagenic and causes lactose intolerance over time, faster in some people - A2 milk can be found nowadays in Jewel-Osco and certain markets as well as most 3rd world countries and India have tons of A2 milk from all sorts of animals 4 - Eating dairy with citris/sour fruits and with salty foods causes digestive issues. Milk is digested with a weaker stomach acid and consuming milk with a meal can cause milk to curdle due to the higher acidic content of stomach acid, while consuming it with sours will also cause curdling within the stomach. That passes through your whole system and can bloat you, hence inflammation. 5 - Ghee exists! Thanks for touching on ghee and butter! Everyone should try that in their coffee rather than milk or cream. Great for keto, fasting, and real energy from the coffee. Milk binds to some of the chemicals in the coffee taking away much of its metabolic effects (need citation for this)
I used to be lactose intolerant from 25 yo and on. I could handle hard cheese and some soft serve ice cream. Milk, cottage cheese on rare occasions. Keto changed that. If I ever had issues with constipation, I ate cottage cheese. Keto caused severe constipation and no longer lactose intolerant. Lost a lot of weight but the side effect lead me to carnivore. Refused to live on Miralax rest of my life Constipation seems to be gone now. Took 6 months. I can do some hard cheese but it's addicting so I limit it to an occasion. I'm a foodaholic (came up with that in college in 1977 when I made some clay self portraits). One bite of the wrong foods and I'm in a binge.
I started the carnivore diet without knowing it, I eliminated the oxalates and so, I was very thin, when I realized it then I began to consume dairy products almost daily and, in fact, I have gained weight very quickly, not in excess, simply the necessary fat, but now cheese is a problem, I feel like it's like a drug, now the only dairy I allow myself is butter and ghee, goat cheese if I can find it but only as an addition to scrambled eggs
Totally agree about the addiction too...i cant actually tolerate dairy anymore- but can in small doses then have to stop. So just stopped altogether. But before id put on a hella lot of weight...gorgeing! Didnt feel i could stop. Didnt feel healthy for me PERSONALLY...i was addicted and got fat lol!
My wife and I started using raw dairy a year ago. She had problems with irritable bowel prior to that. Her issues with that were resolved after starting our raw dairy. I can't tell the difference. You do need to consume it before a week even keeping it under good refrigeration. I think it introduces a wider range of probiotics that are otherwise eliminated by pasturing... One other thought. Raw milk is not homogenized. The fat separates in raw milk, but it doesn't in the processed milk. I wonder if raw milk being non-homogenized is better as well?
I grew up on a dairy farm so I grew up on RAW milk, straight from the holding tank. I include dairy in my diet in the form of a variety of cheese, raw cream, and butter but I don't drink milk anymore. Love cheeses though and the flavor it adds to meats for more variety. I seem to handle it just fine.
As a child, we lived on a dairy farm. I remember filling the glass half gallon from the tank. When we moved, my brother and I wouldn't drink the store milk for a few weeks. The milk jonesing finally broke us, lol.
@@verneblestien315 yeah, I eventually drank store bought milk when my parents divorced and I was with my mom but I still always had raw milk when I was with my dad and grandparents. I stayed with them most of the time. It's so good. Now, I get raw cream from my friends farm. I could drink it.
It makes me very sad that I have to limit the amount of dairy I consume. I don't have a huge reaction to it, it just makes my throat very phlegmy. Basically, just uncomfortable, but it's bad enough that I will avoid eating too much. Sadly, I have the highest reaction to butter, cheese and whip cream. I don't know what I'm reacting to.
When I was in basic training during summer the heat made me lose my appetite. I almost lived on milk. 4, 6 or 8 glasses on my tray. With the high activity level I lost weight. I can still drink and eat dairy in high quantities. I had quit for years, but I just have trouble eating enough beef, chicken etc. Im 60 now and trying to keep muscle.
I never tried it raw, however I have a problem with any kind of dairy. The only exception seems to be butter: I do perfectly well with grass-fed Irish butter, which is also delicious and impossible to eat too much since your body would tell you to stop after a certain amount (fats stimulate leptin)
When I started carnivore, I was consuming raw cream I bought from an Amish farm for the first 9 months. I used it for clotted cream, creme fraiche, yogurt, and gravy. I also ate conventionally made hard cheeses. At that time, I had been suffering from lichen scleroses for the prior 12 years. In my 9th month of carnivore, I observed consuming dairy was adding weight to me, so I quit it entirely. I also started using only clarified butter. By the end of my 10th month, my lichen scleroses symptoms had disappeared. My doctor confirmed that. I started losing weight easier at that time, too. I’m in my 5th year of carnivore and the symptoms have not returned unless I consume a dairy product of any kind. So, no dairy for me.
I have drank 3 To 8 pints a milk everyday for over 20 years and always took the fullest fat options . I never buy anything reduced fat . I have always struggled to gain weight and thought high fat lard and butter would help me gain weight . Now 45 with the exact same body shape I have had since I was 20 I realise that’s what maybe helped keep me slim . I have also always had a natural aversion to vegetables 🤮 always ate all my meat though🤔
Im eating yogurt kefir and milk additional to meat and eggs, ive put on a little weight but i eat a lot of dairy - now my weight has levelled out and well im not taking off any weight but inflammation is waning off completely. If i take out my dairy id probably loose weight, may have to do that in a week or so to see what can happen.
I was raised on cows milk etc. & after 60 years of loving it I became intolerant. Now I am 100 % allergic to all cow milk, butter, cheese and even ghee. Vomiting, diarrhea, sweating, etc. Luckily hard goat cheese, milk, butter and goat kefir I can tolerate. I eat it in moderation and now love certain specific types and brands. Wishing you all well 👍
I can’t drink black coffee, so a little creamer is in for me. Cheese is a constant in my fridge mostly for a kid friendly grab snack. Of course butter, i love butter. Milk is a no go. It’s got a lot of sugar!
Thank you for talking about dairy. I have recently added dairy back into my diet, just because I love it. I have hashimoto disease controlled by synthroid. My weight is fine. I could give up dairy again if there was clear evidence that it would help to give it up. It didn’t seem to matter that I gave it up for several years. If anyone out there has any new research that would help, please send it my way.
Medical fraudsters convinced you you have hashimoto's. You'd have to check your thyroid via iridology to see how much contamination is in your glands. REgular milk is crap for your body. Only raw milk can help moisturize & heal your body from a lifetime of attack via vaccines, environmental pollution & processed(cooked) foods. Try getting raw thyroid glands....you can't cuz the FDA knows it is healthful.
I was raised on dairy and had acne, asthma and constant mucus as a kid. Quitting dairy eliminated all that. I love cheese and occasionally have it when out to dinner, my nose blocks within hours. Raw milk, however, doesn't produce the same symptoms, but I find it far too addictive so I have to avoid that too.
Pasteurization allowed a much longer shelf life, cold storage to be able to distribute and sell it, as well as local farmers had no way of pasteurizing.
"Milk is for infant/ adolescent growth"...agreed. I also previously understood that by the time we're 20 ( growth phases complete ) our bodies stop producing the enzyme required to break down the lactose- hence lactose intolerance. Some react more obvious, some no symptoms, but everyone is technically "intolerant".
I recently cut out dairy because I thought it may be contributing towards high blood pressure which I’ve experienced for 50 plus years. After 2 weeks of stopping dairy my BP lowered significantly and continued. I have been off dairy now for 2.5 months and am now taking no medication. Just as a side note, I had a quadruple bypass 5/6 years ago and am feeling better than I have for many years at 76 years old, I’ve more energy and much calmer mood wise. I just decided to experiment on myself, having changed to Keto a couple of years after the heart surgery where I was able to stop everything except half of the BP medication, so I am delighted not to have to be taking any drugs and feeling so well, I wish I had known this a long time ago.
Yup! My issue with dairy, as with nuts, is that I am more likely to over-consume it compared to meat, seafood and eggs. I think it's the galactose-maybe even the carbs and fat together. It's certainly tasty. PS: I think there's little doubt whole dairy is better than skim.
I hadn't drinking dairy in years, but then watched some videos on how it may be a good way to avoid the oxalates in almond milk, and with fat would process slower than say rice milk. But I found like you said, it was very delicious! I even was starting to drink half and half, and some straight cream! Problem was, my prostate started acting up, dairy and prostate not so good, even dangerous.
Half cup daily of L. Reuteri yogurt made from table cream (18%b.f.) fermented 36 hours as per Dr. William Davis' book Super Gut after 2 yrs carnivore. Just never got the gut right on lion diet. This might be a good compliment to meat.
I'm a dairy farmer. Pasteurized milk is not real milk. The body doesn't recognize it. Raw milk is the only appropriate milk to drink. That being said - know your farmer. Any food you eat should be handled properly.
Hi Dr. Baker. I am currently 67yo ketovore and doing dairy elimination, consuming ghee and butter only, attempting to see if my BPH is improved. Results so far are encouraging, but I ef'n love and miss cheese, heavy cream in my coffee and my homemade yogurt from grass-fed half and half. I have also correlated occasional eczema with the heavy cream. By the way, it would be interesting to do a survey that could show sensitivity vs geography. I grew up in and currently live in Georgia USA.
If I could consume dairy, along with eating Carnivore, my life would be complete. Unfortunately, I am NOT one who can consume dairy, nor can any of my three children. Eliminating dairy was the last food we found to turn off a gene for Reactive Arthritis (HLA B27) that son#2 has. His transformation was amazing, from eliminating ALL his pain in 45 days, to allowing the weight to just fall off. He lost 130lbs over two years. Before eliminating dairy, he was road biking 20, 30, 40 miles...and the weight wouldn't budge. We even tried a personal trainer for a year who worked with joint issues. I eliminated dairy two weeks after he did, lost a dress size in 30 days, then 2 more dress sizes over the next few months...doing NOTHING different, except eliminating dairy. We had been eating a Paleo diet, after we found that same son is Celiac. For me, ANY kind of dairy will put weight on my faster than I can blink. We've tried raw goat and raw cow dairy. Just the beginning of this year I had tried consuming goat cheese again. Well, that lasted until I realized I had gained 8lbs. Ditched the goat cheese...within 30 days the weight just dropped off. NO thank you! I'll just stick to my Carnivore without the dairy. I'm 68, went Carnivore at 65...and have never looked back!
@@audreygregis8721 Also very interesting, as far as foods, dairy consumption is the most associated with being the tallest height out of all the others(major male correlates of height study).
@@Cbd_7ohm Exactly! Each living mammal provides milk to grow that species. I was told by a naturopath many years ago, it really isn't the lactose (the sugar), it's the protein size in the milk. Cow milk is created to grow cows. Actually, human milk is almost identical in protein size to goat milk.
I drink whole milk, 3-4 gallons a week. During heat waves, I can get up to a gallon+ a day. I find nothing more refreshing than draining a quart of cold milk on a 90°+ day. Whole milk mostly, with a gallon of raw milk once a month. Both are local within 10 miles from my house. I will say that I can pinch an inch, but not fat. I work a physical job, exercise and been holding 225lbs at 6'3" for most of my adult life. My diet is mostly meat, with some root vegetable once or twice a week. I'm healthy, not taking any meds of any sorts. My one thing with my body is some knee and joint pain, which I've been told could be from excess dairy consumption. I think it has more to do with close to 40 years physical labor, lol.
Best thing ever! First thing I do after walking in from a hot day is chug a Liter of milk right from the carton, sweet cold and refreshing and I dont mind because I know that carton isn't making it back into the fridge.
Doing the carnivore diet for nearly 4 months now.. when I added dairy (raw milk mostly) to my diet, 1L per day, my weightloss went to a minimum of a few ounces to about a pound per week. Last week I stopped drinking milk and this week I lost 3 pounds. total weightloss is now 33 pounds.
I regularly drink about 4 pints of full cream milk in a day and it forms a large part of my diet alongside plenty of lamb and beef! It's really nice non-homogenised milk from grass fed cows here in the UK. I love the stuff and I must be very lactose tolerant. I find that I very easily maintain my weight with dairy, but if I consider that I need to lose a bit of body fat, then I cut dairy out for a week or so, but I always miss it!
@@brennanbourne It's great stuff :-) My personal favourite is Waitrose Duchy Organic Whole Milk as it's incredibly tasty and satisfying after a load of lamb and eggs fried in butter! :-)
What the corporate news always forgets on purpose to tell us weak minded Americans is that the very definition of pasteurized milk is that the lactase enzyme has been killed. A slide of milk put under the microscope showing that that specific enzyme has been killed certifies under fda guidelines that this milk meets protocol for a dead food product , sorry I meant safe for the consumer. By killing the lactase enzyme which is the very enzyme that digests the milk, should it be any surprise people can't drink milk once it is not raw anymore. So you might wonder how you can drink it at all ? The reason is you can handle it for a while just so long as your overworked pancreas can make the enzymes that your digestion requires for proper digestion. Your pancreas will stuggle to keep up with the demands of drinking processed milk eating microwaved foods which also kills foods enzymes and most other processed foods. Is it any wonder our already overworked pancreas has trouble processing sugar ?
@@johnnovick1643 I'm 42 years of age and I've been drinking milk for the vast majority of my life, most days, wherever I've lived. I've only tried raw milk once in all that time. Maybe I'm lucky that most cows in the UK are grass fed which might help with tolerance, but having done some DNA ancestry tests in the past, much of my heritage is of Scandinavian and British descent (on my father's side) and West Germanic (on my mother's side). That said, my mother is far less tolerant to milk, but both of my brothers and my dad never had any issues either.
Only farms with special licence can sell raw in UK. I have one about 10 miles away that sells raw milk. I drop in occasionally but don't really drink much milk. I do eat other full fat dairy though.
I add beef protein powder (just a little), butter (about half a T) and an egg yolk. Use a frother and pour the hot coffee over cup slowly to temper the egg. Delicious. It's my "breakfast" and sustains me for hours.
Quit coffee. Your energy will be much more even. I was addicted and always had 4 or 5 cups before noon for the last 10 years. Quit cold turkey, and had a headache for the first two days. Now I don't think twice about it. It's liberating to no longer have a caffeine crutch.
Try powdered milk. I live in rural colorado mountains. I tried fresh dairy and would go bad fast and my stomach couldn't handle it. plus when get snow storm may be days or week before roads clear. When I switched to powdered milk, my stomach had no problems with it. Could drink it every meal. It's cheaper than fresh milk, and be stored for years. And use it as a cheaper protein powder than whey, and can cook with it or make puddings, yougurts with added bacteria cultures.
I am of the thought that lactose intolerance is a vaccine sideffect. No one on either side of my family has it, and my symptoms got exponentially worse after i had some vax "update" in college about 10 years ago.
I’ve been lactose-intolerant since at least 16 years old. I ate _ a lot_ of wheat in my childhood (probably more than 95% of children), and I suffer with a lot of gut issues now. My suspicion is that the wheat is the underlying cause of all my gut issues. If this is the case, then what I don’t know is whether it’s the modern practice of growing wheat (no time for proper fermentation), the gluten, or the excess amount of pesticides I would’ve been consuming. I finally discovered I’m also gluten-intolerant four years ago.
lactose tolerance is a very recent gene adaptation that's been around for maybe 10% or less of human history. lactose intolerance after weaning is the norm for human beings. it is simply expression of the lac operon gene sequence, any gap in milk consumption or change in gut flora can increase intolerance as you stop expressing lac in new cells. A vaccine is just an inert template your body uses to recognize a specific virus "code" and is not related. Bacteria, pesticides, industrial runoff and a million other things you ingest will mess up your immune system before a vaccine.
@@mddperkins I'm no scientist but I believe it's the glyphosate messing with our gut biome, thus causing gluten intolerances. I've heard from some people that they can eat wheat in foreign countries without issue, but north American wheat is unbearable. I haven't personally experienced this so I can't say it's true 100% but might be worth you looking deeper into the theory. Hope this helps
@@philanders3705 There's definitely a dramatic difference between the wheat in Europe and here. I've heard many people reporting the same thing you've said here. The glyphosate is certainly messing us up big time.
Last year, I stopped consuming dairy products after having a genetic consultation with Anthony Jay ,PHD. I found out that I have 2 genetic variants that make cow dairy products very inflammatory to my gut. I’m glad I have this genetic information so that I can customize my diet, supplements and exercise and avoid health problems in the future .Thank you 🙏🏻
I’m off cows milk for now(egg whites too). Talked with my nutritionist, and she reported I’ve got an overgrowth of H pylori, which sadly, gives me a form of leaky gut and I don’t absorb protein well. I thought it was nuts because I do eat a lot of meat, but it wasn’t even getting absorbed into my body properly? What a waste. It’s been a week, and I feel better. I no longer consider stabbing pain in my stomach and getting the squirts as normal. In fact, my poops have been beautiful. I recover quicker after exercise than I used to(24-36 hours of recovery now vs. 3 days to recover). The only issue I have now is that I’m gaining weight quite quickly. I’ll have to calorie count, but I think I’m essentially eating the same amount with my restrictions. Bodies are so different! So much to learn!
Dairy is a wonderful source of calories! I've always been extremely lean my whole life, struggling to put on weight, extremely low blood pressure, frequently cold and lethargic. High fat red meat centric carnivore helped me a little bit closing in on a comfortably healthy body weight. If it wasn't for dairy I would probably still be looking sickly slim. But now I consume copious amounts of butter, make my own heavy cream kefir and drink milk before bed, and I've never looked so healthy! There's no sign of inflammation anywhere, I feel much more energetic and warmer, and just look more "full". I'm part Scandinavian heritage, so this probably has a lot to do with it! I definitely feel like I tolerate dairy better still than I did on an omnivorous diet. I recall having terrible gut issues with milk and bread, oats and coffee. On a very low carb high fat animal based diet all those conflicts went away. I'm more than happy consuming dairy, A1 or A2, raw or not. But I do worry some, because I hear dairy is associated with *hair loss* (yikes!), and I have yet to hear anyone refute or at least explain this mechanistically. Supposedly it is connected to inflammation, but I can't say that is something I experience personally. But I'm not willing to sacrifice my hair if that is something that can be exacerbated over time or in the long run! Thanks, doc! You're a life saver!♥️
I have the same problem as you with weight, I find it hard to keep on. I started Ketovore 3 months ago to help with seizures, it has helped. I have just started back on dairy to put weight back on & have had trouble with hair loss due to change in diet. Did you find out about dairy & hair loss as I have never heard about that before?
I do 1 serving of yogurt and 1 serving of cottage cheese mixed every morning. Both are the lowest carb version I can find and I enjoy that with some chicken sausage every morning. I’ve been able to lose 147lbs so far, and luckily that hasn’t slowed down my loss.
Just got raw dairy instead of store bought, I’ve been doing 4-8 ounces of milk, 4 ounces of yogurt, honey fruit and beef. Since changing my dairy I think I’m leaning out, I feel much more energy.
I am on my 3rd day of carnivore- no dairy or gluten- only meat eggs, salt, water, bone broth, and magnesium supplements. In the past few days I have had zero inflammation, no knee pain, and slept like a baby. I believe my body adapted quickly bc I have not consumed sugar in over 4 years!
Dairy has been fine for me all my life. Love raw milk, cream and cheese and most lactose intolerant can do raw dairy as the natural occurring sugar/lactose and other nutrients haven't been processed and cooked out. These raw products are also good for the gut.
How does raw milk taste?
I agree with you! But what is the difference between raw milk and pasteurized? I've never had raw milk. Thank you for your time of you have the time.
It,is illegal because of the health benefits free of antibiotics and hormones.
I'm drinking raw goat's milk right now. Doesn't taste any different from regular pasteurize cow's milk.
That's pretty much the case.We re being farmed. We are the products.
What a good analogy!
Just even getting unhomoginized helps a lot.
Were you ever diagnosed with celiac disease? Lactose intolerance is a symptom of it.
I discovered my issues with dairy were secondary, when I started an elimination diet. Once I cut all grains/processed foods, the bloating and gas following milk went away.

Is raw milk ever a danger? Where can we get raw milk?
Have you considered a whey allergy? I too can tolerate hard cheeses but not yogurts and milk.

Yep. Many people I know. My daughter did not do well with milk from a local farm (NOT raw) or a store (grass fed/organic) but I usually got it at the farm; and when we switched it was magic. The list that Dr. Baker displays, about the countries with the most dairy consumption (1:38 - 1:55) , also closely resembles the countries which have the most tall people, especially when looking at the first three or four countries on the list.

Where are you friend - interested in what areas allow for raw milk to be legal. Wish our area did.
@@Rhonda22 I'm from Estonia. Raw dairy is legal in all of Europe
Thank you so much for this video! You are the absolute best! I’ve been asking raw milk questions for a couple days so this is great. Love my raw milk!
Raw > pasteurized - join a herd share. 😊
To be honest!! I love dairy. But like u say if I wanna get very shredded I don’t used . Thanks for the advice. I’m starting my channel on carnivore over in Italy and it is very hard to make people understand how important it is to live sugar free .
You can pry my mozzarella out of my cold dead hands.
Thank you Sean. I did not have this data about dairy. I watch you a lot. Carnivore diet is changing my body and my fiancée’s body.
Hi Dr Shawn,
I can’t have Cow Full cream milk too often.
I am thinking of eliminating the cream and cheese and milk for a while
Just use guee or butter in my coffee or coconut cream 😅
Thank you for all your videos. I find you relaxing to listen to. Your information is always just enough and you are not exhausting to listen to.
Lactose intolerant and slightly milk allergic here, for me getting off of dairy at the age of 40 gave me a whole new lease on life, about 5-6 months after quitting it most of my arthritis pain went away and left me feeling better now at 60 than I did at 40, like night and day.🙂
Do people ever give you milk as a joke before a date or anything
Hi, I have arthritis in 1 knee. I do have a little dairy, butter is something I have the most of. I've been Carnivore for 1 1/2 years. Did you cut out butter when you stopped dairy? I would like this arthritis to ease up.
@@NoName-xo9sk this can also be from eating rumenent animals too
The casein in butter may cause problems for some.
Only Scandinavia. People like the Mongols ate cheese(little to no lactose) but were still lactose intolerant.
I am glad pasteurization and raw milk was talked about! Most just think dairy is dairy and therefore, dairy issues are dairy issues. Check my points to clarify some things on milk:
1 - Pasteurization and homogenization kill all probiotics and healthy bacteria including immunoglobulins. Raw milk has probiotics like yogurt among much that is missing from yogurt (especially sugary yogurt)
2 - Due to bad factory farm practices, mainstream milk cannot be raw and many laws have been put in place in most states to outlaw healthy grass-fed raw milk as well (all raw milk)
3 - So glad you mentioned A1 vs A2. 99.5% of all milk has A1 protein (the steak sauce is named after this) which is mutagenic and causes lactose intolerance over time, faster in some people - A2 milk can be found nowadays in Jewel-Osco and certain markets as well as most 3rd world countries and India have tons of A2 milk from all sorts of animals
4 - Eating dairy with citris/sour fruits and with salty foods causes digestive issues.
Milk binds to some of the chemicals in the coffee taking away much of its metabolic effects (need citation for this)
Absolutely love milk especially raw
Thanks!
@@larissamezo6921 cheese is such an adiction for me! 🤣😭😭
Yes, homogenization denatures the fat globules. No problem keeping it longer than a week, even if it sours a bit.
@Shawn Baker MD I do 2MAD and take about 1 liter whole milk a day mostly 1/2 liter after each meal. It kills any after cravings or sweet tooth 😅
Now I am 100 % allergic to all cow milk, butter, cheese and even ghee.

I can’t drink black coffee, so a little creamer is in for me. Cheese is a constant in my fridge mostly for a kid friendly grab snack. Of course butter, i love butter. Milk is a no go. It’s got a lot of sugar!

Yeah, butter is a must.
Same with me, asthma, mucus problems when I would come down with a cold, and everyday nose problems.
a doctor told me that can be parasites reacting to the milk
Yep, I think it's dairy that prevents weight loss for me. I tolerate it well. But it is so easy to over consume.
I hadn't drinking dairy in years, but then watched some videos on how it may be a good way to avoid the oxalates in almond milk, and with fat would process slower than say rice milk. But I found like you said, it was very delicious! I even was starting to drink half and half, and some straight cream!

Hi Dr.
Thank you for sharing this!!

Finland is not part of Scandinavia. It's only Sweden, Norway, and Denmark. Countries like Finland and Iceland help make up the Nordics.
Just recently read the book very good and easy to read and understand well done Dr Baker 👍
I just made 7 pints of Ghee. It is wonderful and shelf stable. Eat all dairy and love it but, need my meat.
wow... good on you.
