    Rather than just explaining, this video would been more useful had you shown the actual cutting on video so we can see the difference between a stock blade vs a zero gap. Please do a demo. Thanks.

    Never heard of zero “gapping” until I typed it in Amazon search. I always thought zero just meant the length it leaves which it does, but there is always a tiny length of hair left when I cut with my Wahls so it was confusing. Good explanation.

    • @Arvinmalaca
      @Arvinmalaca  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Zero gapping isn't needed but most barbers prefer it. Remember liners are used to only create shape while the straight razor gives the sharpness to a lineup👌🏽

    If I zero gap, how will it effect when I throw on guards on the clippers? Or will it still cut the guard #

    • @Arvinmalaca
      @Arvinmalaca  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The purpose to zero gapping a clipper is to knock out the first initial guideline(lever open). You won’t see a HUGE difference with guards, it will just make blending easier

    What are best clipper or trimmer to zero gap

  • @tundeshittu1982
    @tundeshittu1982 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hi. So thank you for the clarification. Please, I got a zero gapped clipper/trimmer and barbers have been saying it can't cut long hair and hair styles. What do you say? If it can, how?

    • @NoBullsh_t
      @NoBullsh_t ปีที่แล้ว +1

      When you zero gap ur outliners u shorten the feed, the bottom blade feeds the hair into the cutting blade. So u will find that on some thicker hair textures and around certain areas, like the forehead for example, the trimmer won't want to cut due to the lack of feed. My best advice is to have more than one trimmer, one zero gapped and another one regular, start ur line with the regular one then go over ur line with the zero gapped one to make ur line extra crispy..

  • @saheb_emm
    @saheb_emm 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    But when you zero gap a clipper, doesn't it scratch on the guard while the lever is closed?

    • @Arvinmalaca
      @Arvinmalaca  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      This happens but not everytime, I notice it happens more with a taper blade due to the width of the blade. A simple adjustment will fix that issue

    Seeing as this video is 3 years old, not sure if your still responding but have a question. I'm a balding guy that uses the Andis outliner to shave my head. I don't want to use an actual razor blade, but I would like to outliner to cut even a bit closer. My concern is that zero gapping for shaving a head my so close it can leave red marks cut my head even if done properly. You think it's okay to zero gap to shave a full head? or is it just for fades and designs?

    • @Arvinmalaca
      @Arvinmalaca  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Great question, I’d recommend zero gapping to an extent. Yes, technique is used for lineups and designs BUT you can adjust the blade SLIGHTLY and it can still improve how close it cuts to the skin. Takes trial and error to find the perfect adjustment to what you’re looking for

    Arvin, I got a question, is there a way to zero gap a oster fast feed without the ceramic blade?, because I heard that a ceramic blade makes them louder and can you tell us where you got the ceramic blade from on your fast feed?

    • @Arvinmalaca
      @Arvinmalaca  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      FBI The FBI wants tips from me😳 lol It’s possible with some adjustments to the clipper body itself but I’m not exactly sure how. Ceramic blades made it easier to zero gap. Fast feeds is the quietest clipper I know, I don’t hear a difference with a ceramic blade + ceramic blades stay cooler than other blades and cut the nicest to me

      Arvin Malaca man Im new barber and I’ve tried the andis course cutter ceramic blade on my fast feeds but they seem to have a lot of defected blades. Could u recommend a different ceramic blade for the fast feeds I would really appreciate it my guy

    I have a question. Imagine I have a clipper with lever closed 0,5mm and lever open 2,5mm and i zero gap it. Is it now 0mm to 2,00mm because I took 0,5mm away or is it 0mm to still 2,5mm

    • @Arvinmalaca
      @Arvinmalaca  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The answer is...yes, haha zero gapping your blade will overall shorten the cutting length but it won't create a huge effect in your blends other than the bald line.

    • @scryptic3233
      @scryptic3233 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is pretty late so you probably know this by now but someone alse might find this helpful. Zero gapping doesnt mean exactly zero gap. When u are zero gapping you are supposed leave small space like 0.3mm, if its fully 0mm it will cut your skin
