    So many Negative comments. WOW, I LOVE the improvements. Moving the info panel over the door is clever, I love the aluminum framed bed. I love the new sink, and on the GL, I love the electric stove, you get free electricity from nature, I am not a gourmet chef! I need it to heat/cook things.
    The water controls inside is a great improvement.
    The missing extra bed? You are kidding right? This is for 1 or 2 people, not a family. You have other Winnebagos for that,
    My dream is to save enough to live out of the van full time, travel America, hopefully with a yet to be found lady, and with my awesome Fox Terrier Fletcher. If I had the money, I would do it TOMORROW!

    Something tells me Mr. Stokes really enjoys snowboarding and surfing. :-) Smart man using it on film sets. He can write some of it off as a business expense. Thanks for the walkthrough of the changes, good sir. Can't wait to see more of your TV and film work in the future.
    I've got a 2021 Travato 59GL on order for delivery in February. Not really seeing anything here for me since I *need* a dedicated booth "office" area with a large table surface for IT and electronics work once I go full-time in it.
    Was already planning to replace the horrid default chassis stereo head unit with a better one with Garmin RV maps in it anyway and it too uses an ODB-II adapter kit to get the same info. Methinks it's the same exact radio this new upgrade has. The changes to the murphy bed look sweet though.
    It's nice to see Winnebago continuing to innovate. The new European-style wet bath in the Ekko is *awesome* and should be in every future wet bath model. I've used them before when I was living in Germany and renting out Class Bs for various vacation trips with the frauline at the time. I hope that style makes it down into Winnie's future Class B models.

    This unit certainly has a nice fit and finish as well as some new innovations. And it has a lengthwise bed that appears to be accommodate tall sleepers. However, once again we have seating for four in a vehicle that sleeps only two. For the many singles and couples who travel, the extra two chairs are taking up space could be used to expand the kitchen or install a larger refrigerator.

    I was also prepared to be envious of the new model. I just bought a new 2020 59GL last summer. While I like the kitchen sink, gravity drain shower (no separate pump and filter), and the display cluster, losing the nice big table and the puzzle bed are deal breakers for me. My wife's sleeps in the puzzle bed with an extra foam cushion. The big table is great to work on and you can fit 5 people around it. And, having to leave the door open to be hooked up is a horrible idea. Marcus did a nice review but I was waiting for him to come back to the table.

    • @MikeRogers483

      @@richdv6800 The Pleasure Way doesn't have a lithium battery system. You can "cut the cord" with this one and forget having to find campgrounds with hookups as it'll run your electric almost entirely on battery power. For people who like to boondock for days at a time this beats out the Pleasure Way. The Nova is a worthy competitor though as they offer a lithium system as well.

    Thanks for the review. Would you please touch on a few points that I don’t recall you mentioning. Do the front seats turn around into the living quarters? Stats regarding mpg, gas or diesel, engine size, solar equipped?
    Is the fridge dual functional ie propane & electric and does it have a freezer section? Size of fresh water holding tank as well as black & grey tanks? Overall cost for unit with these items included? 🤷🏻‍♀️

    • @TrishBenedict
      @TrishBenedict 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’ll try a couple of these questions, but I’m no expert. I assume that the seats in the 2022 will be the same as the ones in our 2020.5 G. So they should turn around and face in. And it looks like the same fridge, which is just DC. The solar panels keep the batteries charged and I am told by people who know more than I do that it’s more efficient and less problematic than having a three-way or a two way. The engineers is a six cylinder gasoline - you can look up the specs for a Ram Promaster 3500. Gas mileage should be in the 15 to 20 range (depending on how much you’re hauling, terrain, speed, etc). For the price you can go over to the Winnebago website to get. Not cheap with the lithium. That’s why we ended up getting the basic G, although I now regret that and wish we had shelled out the extra money for the GL. Hope this answers a few of your questions. We bought ours just before lock down, so we haven’t had a chance to use it as much as we’d planned in the past 10 months.

      I agreed with the “why do something that keeps us having to open the back door to put water in the tank.” Then I realized that we live off the tank and not the hose. Given it’s a B class and that limits the fact one door will have to be opened to even get in and out. While I was winterizing my GL, I realized how nice it would be to have all the “by passes” in one location. Right now I have to get under the bench seat to bypass the water heater, then the two near the floor at the slider door.
      I would rather see them replace the slide door that loses all the heat or cold air. I know that’s probably not happening so I’ll take the single location for water and winterizing. LOL!

    • @michellenotherday1482
      @michellenotherday1482 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@MusicOfMelodyK so true! We actually did have that happen more than once. And at another place, we left the water to the vehicle on, low, but it still broke and leaked. The park management turned the water off and left us a kind note, but still an embarrassment. The more we look at the 2022, the more we love it. More cells in the Lithium, a new space up front where the water tank, then the inverters were, the single spot of water works, and the “pump-less” shower drain make it a dream machine “B”! The lighter bed is a bonus!

    I don’t own a van as yet however I fell in love with the Travato 59GL because of the layout and capability to carry 4 seat belt passengers and sleep 4. However the fact it was changed and unable to sleep 4, I will now have to seek another option for my van purchase. The screen and other upgrades are great but in my opinion it makes no sense being able to carry 4 passengers but only sleep 2. The van life community who was looking for that additional sleeping capacity have been left out. It’s an open an airy floor plan but the fact that it had the stationary work area is what I liked the most vs having to keep converting the work space and table area. The older models can actually have table space for 4 working or eating passengers comfortably. The lagoon style table is way too small. I’m so disappointed that I have now started looking at other companies for a newer model class B that can sleep 4 and seat 4 for dinner all at the same time.
    If a newer model with another company is not found, then I will have to consider getting an older Travato 5gl model, but unfortunately some of the upgrades would be needed 😢😢. According to another comment the person said that the older models have now gone up in value. So true. Great job Marcus but Winnebago missed the mark for me as a newbie

    I hope this comment reaches Winnebago engineering. I have a few suggestions to make the Travato more appealing. 1) raise the roof like on the Regency American Traveler. 2) eliminate the propane tank and instead have a gasoline assist for the Truma heating from the gas tank. 3) Increase the tank sizes owing to the extra cabinet capacity because of the added interior height. 4) Have adjustable air shocks that can also be used for leveling. 5) Hinge freezer door at bottom so it's more easily accessible. 6) Offer tinted side cab windows and a brush guard as options. Thanks for hearing me out. I hope this helps.

    • @WinnebagoRVs
      @WinnebagoRVs  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, the design intent is to use the water pump. Having the system inside eliminates a potential freeze point. It’s one less opening in the side of the van to worry about sealing, leaking, or corroding. Leaving the city water connected can be problematic if there’s a leak.

I would not want my Head to be separated from a Pooping person by Inches Toilet in the Bathroom. That’s a Romance Killer. The Coachmen Beyond D is the Winner so far Head to Head. Grade C+. Seems pretty challenging, expensive, and lot of maintenance in such a small B van. Shower goes into gray tank which is shared with your sink, so you'd have to either separate it into it's own tank (and have another to take up space) or have a system that is good enough to filter out the food particles, soap, etc. AND be small enough to fit somewhere on the van - doubtful there is something reasonably priced and small enough yet. Even if there was, you'd have to deal with cleaning that filter quite often. For this type of van you should be doing military showers anyway, quick and using little water; if you want to enjoy a long hot shower, a small B van might not be for you

    I wished you would have mentioned the solar and the tanks. How much solar can you put on it? How much can the water, grey water, and black tanks hold? Also are the windows double pane? I have always loved the Trovato G/GL. I wish winnebago would put a nice big refrigerator like the one in the Travato G in all of their class B vans!! That’s a huge selling point. Thanks for sharing the new GL.

    Other then the new bed design, inside water controls, the induction cooktop and sink along with the new information center in the cab and the gravity drain in the shower there is not really anything else that I would want from my current 2017.5 Travato. They missed on the removal of the other sleeping area big time (thats where the dog sleeps). IMHO.They turned it into a two person coach unless they eventually add in the pop top which I wouldn't want. I hate canvas exterior walls. It would have been nice to know with all the insulation they added what the ratings were for the floor, walls and ceiling.

      It maybe ugly to you but I own one and the bed frame on mine is heavy and has Froli's which catch the mattress or the sheets or the sleeping bag when you lift it. The slats would prevent that and the slats do exactly what the Froli's do which is get air under the mattress. I would have prefered if they had anodized the bed frame to a bronze so it didn't stand out so much but from a useability standpoint this is a huge improvement.

    I saw Some of these dodges recently in person and there’s not a whole lot of things that are down the sides there an all-around amazing vehicle
    I would say the major number one thing would be that it’s front wheel drive and not real or four-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive option it’s just front wheel drive and you’re very limited even more so when you’re trying to live off road/off grid
