    ℹ️ About the episode:
We were eager to try out the Class B Van Lifestyle. We rented this Winnebago Travato 59k and took a trip from Pheonix to Prescott to Payson for a stand-up paddleboard trip. Although we had an "issue" with the blank tank in the previous episode, we really enjoyed this Class B trip. In this episode, we give a tour and review.

Thank you for your review of the 59k. As a 59 k owner you were right about so many things. We love our 59K. The shorter bed holds and enormous amount of things. I have 2 chairs, 2 tables, 2 step stools, 2 sets of hiking poles, extra toilet paper, 2 sets of high top hiking sneakers, 1 huge outdoor rug, 1 small rug, 1 bag full of candle lanterns and a few more little extras. We bought this rv so that we could go anywhere without limitations. We are big foodies and love eating our way across the states. The one thing that has helped me are collapsible products that i have purchased on amazon or Marshall’s. They were a game changers as it allows you to bring even more stuff. The frig looks small but holds 9 days worth of food. Once you personalize your rv you are able to have all the comforts of home. We pull into a campground only to sleep as we are busy exploring the area. It’s great having your own kitchen and bathroom during those times. We rented 3 rv’s before we made our final decision. We rented a travato 59k and 59 g. We also rented a 2015 unity Mb from leisure travel to make sure we were not making a mistake in the layout and rv. You have to figure out what your needs are. Yes, its very small but the travato 59 k is “mighty” in what she can do.

I love my 2019 Travato 59G. Go everywhere, park anywhere. 5 minutes to set up and take down. It has a dedicated bed and a separate dining table so no reconfiguration. Huge refriGerator and separate freeze which freezes ice cream! Table also folds to make another bed.

For those who are having issues with their tank sensors. I found that if you dump ice down into your tanks and drive around a bit it tends to clean the sensors. It worked great for me.

We love our 59K! Just celebrated our One year Vannaversary! It is amazing how creative you can be when packing what you need. We have boondocked and stayed in state park campgrounds and travel with our golden retriever! Gas mileage is great and the 59K has everything we need to enjoy biking, hiking, concerts and checking out little towns across the US!

We have a Lance cabover camper. We LOVE it!!! We can road trip and boondock ANYWHERE. Parking lots at truck stops, Cracker Barrel. Walmart, etc. We just went to our local National Park for 2 nights. Due to Covid, camping spaces are very limited. We had to MOVE each night because you can only reserve 1 night per site. Crazy now! Anyway, night 2 site was on a hill and not so pretty. We showered, dumped graywater using our tote at restroom, then moved to overflow parking RIGHT NEXT to the river!! My husband went fishing while I primped up and cooked breakfast. There is NO WAY you could have done that with a large RV or trailer. We park ANYWHERE we want. We're only 7ft wide, not 8ft, which makes a world of difference. I don't see many truck campers anywhere. They're awesome! When we get home we off load the camper with a remote control for the jacks, SIMPLE!! Then my husband has his truck for work, we're self employed. Lance makes a quality RV!!

You hit the nail on the head for the Class B type of user. We have a Winnebago Revel and sought out this kind of camper van/RV. We are primarily backpackers and saw this as the perfect trailhead vehicle - we have everything with us plus the comfort amenities. Previously, we used our Outback and a tent. As we age - this is a step up.

Vans are the best, in my opinion. We can go anywhere, park anywhere, and be stealth if we need to be. Don't need to "set-up" as we are always easily ready. Plug in, if we want to use the gen if we want to. Solar can keep us going for quite a while. Thanks for showing us the new Travato, it was on our short list, but decided on the Coachmen Beyond.

With my EX, I had a 40' bus pusher...then a towable tent trailer behind my Goldwing. Since I'm SF my current consideration has been travel safety. My choice is a 30' class A, easy to drive, everything I need, I can park...assess my surroundings before exiting the vehicle. I have a TOAD which I had a battery disconnect installed, it can't be driven off. I can wait until I feel safe before I go out to set up. Solo females need to think about safety more than expense when they are making their decisions. Enjoy your videos...pros and cons of different units!

Great presentation, thank you for your efforts. A bit of a different perspective on Class B. I’m a older, single part time RV’er and am still agile enough to enjoy my 28’ 5th Wheel. I’ve felt that when I am no longer able to handle the setup and take-down of a 5’er I would go to a Class B because of the conveniences you pointed out.
You guys continue to give me food for thought.

We purchased a PleasureWay Class B a couple of years ago after years of tenting and trailers. I’ve found anecdotally that the largest market for Class Bs that are upfitted by the major vendors are baby boomers that are retiring, many of whom have never owned any kind of RV. I really don’t think the average middle aged adventure seeker is going to drop north of $100k on a new Travato, PleasureWay, Leisure Travel, etc. But that does make the used market for Class Bs really hot now. They seem to sell within days of posting the ads.

Hubby built rack on the top back and put the solar panel over the top on a hinge. Put a spare tire up there too. Great back door mount bike rack available. 1000 watt inverter on non lithium models. Bath sink drains into black tank so we hardly use it. It is a great makeup shelf tho!

Great video! Thank you for the reviews on the different rig classifications. I agree about the use of magnets. There are several on the inside of our Airstream. It keeps us from having to put everything up before we tow. We even use them on the room dividers, so there are no more latches sticking out from the wall. My wife shook her head when I installed the Amazon echo and Skyroam with magnets. If we decide to sell the Airstream, we can convert everything back in a matter of minutes. We spend a lot less time looking for stuff now.
The outside of the cabin looks great! Love the bear.

Enjoyed the video and the perspective of the motorized RV reviews. It is good to have your experience with numerous towable RVs overlaying the insights of your review.
We very much agree with the collapsible laundry basket recommendation at the end. We bought two of them a year ago based upon the recommendations of your laundry day video, and have been very pleased. Not only do they work as laundry hampers, but also as grocery transfer, folded clothes storage, temporary misc household goods storage and transfer. We have also found them great to hide a small grandchild in for playing hide and seek in the 5th wheel. Then they fold down next to nothing for storage (take the grandchild out first). Thank you!

Love this! Dream of having one someday. I love the “playing house” while going down the road. Loved our trip we took once in a motor home. Actually when a kid my friend and I took turns going around the block playing house in our “motor home” (a fridge box on a wagon).

100 percent accurate in knowing the type of rv'ing you want to do. We are dry campers, and love the solitude and the craftiness that comes with being in the middle of nowhere for 14 days. Our tow behind has never seen an rv park.

I’m not a fan of manufactured class Bs but I do love the self builds I’ve seen having full sized elevated beds in an East/West positioning. In that configuration you have a basement that affords quite a bit of storage including carrying bikes. Nature head commodes and bigger freshwater tanks along with solar and you can dry camp longer and many full time in these vans. It has been my dream for years. That is until I started watching you guys now I want both dreams. Love the changes to the cabin! Bob is a perfect addition.

HI Bob the Bear... what another great episode, love the new edition to the cabin, colors match perfect. Thanks for the Van Tour, I agree Class A and the Van, however I agree there is nothing like having a towable, that would be my first choice as well... have a great week KYD family

Thank you for the insight and sharing the good, bad and Ouch! I’m loving the KYD Hat and T Shirt, it’s just starting to get warmed up in my area of Canada and I’m still working 60 hrs a week as a Retail Cleaner fighting the Virus. Sometimes it feels like we are steering a big ship with a small rudder. But my goal is to get out more when I start getting some weekends so if you don’t might until then I will continue to ENJOY KYD weekly adventures and insights. Thank You so Much.

Love your videos and adventures. We have a nuCamp Tab 400 Boondock that has a dedicated queen bed and separate dinning space and galley. So, not all teardrop campers need reconfiguring and that's why we chose our Tab 400. Thanks for the learnings that you share, keep the videos coming.

I also have the laundry basket and 2 smaller ones that I got at Costco. They congee in so handy. Love your videos. Can't wait to find out what the next thing is that you have in store for us!

As always, a very informative video. We've had pop-up campers, cabin tents (after the pop up = more room in the cabin tent with 4 kids), 2 5th wheels, and 2 trailers. Your comment about know your mission so you can get the right RV for you is spot on. We're now looking at getting a truck camper (Host Yukon) and down sizing from our 41' 5th wheel. Kids are all grown up and gone, and like a van, a truck camper can park anywhere. A big truck camper (like a Host Yukon) must put it's slides out to function inside it (not so with a van), so like everything in RVing, like you said you need to know your mission and what your willing to compromise for and then get the RV that fits what you want to do. We want to go to remote places our 5th wheel just can't get to so a truck camper is in our future plans.

Great review! My husband and I specially appreciated your comments on how important it is to know what you plan to do when you are using the RV in order to select the right RV for your needs. We have had a class C for about a year, and it has been perfect for our needs. We are using it for long weekend as well as one or two week trips. We love being able to just pull up to our site, level, let the slide out and plug in. Takes about 10 minutes. Love the kitchen, fridge is good size, murphy bed is easy to put up and down, etc. Has plenty of space for the inevitable rainy days when we play board games rather than site seeing. So for us, it really works.
Regarding the incident of horror that shall never be mentioned, well hmm. Suggest adding "pre-trip black tank dump and flush" to the punch list. I know this isn't the way any one wants to start their trip out, but better to make sure there aren't any issues before you head out of town. As RV owners rather than renters, we do a black tank flush every time we dump which helps prevent any kind of issues (keeps the sensors clean, etc.). Yes, this does take an extra 5 or 10 minutes, but prevents a lot of issues in the long run, and there is some satisfaction from seeing perfectly clear water coming through the clear elbow.

Great job of reviewing the class B. Vanlife. Thank you for reviewing what it looks like inside and out. It was nice tour. It’s all nice even though the sink thing doesn’t work fold up right. Other than that it’s nice. It was nice of you in the beginning to cook for Trish. Thank you fir this video nicely done. Matt and Andrea of Matt’s Rv Reviews would be proud.
I’m going to go watch your other videos to get caught up. See you soon!

We’ve had a Winnebago Vectra 40KD for 15 years and finally today, made a deal for a Travato 59K. You guys nailed it. We are hikers, bikers and backpackers and want to be off grid at at a trailhead.
    We are beyond excited.
We’ve recently begun backpacking and tent camping and getting ready to do a transcontinental bike ride using the Travato as a sag wagon. Simplify and minimize!
Thanks for a great confirming video.

We have had our class B van for five years and we're in it 60+ nights a year...still hit our head on that front cabinet sometimes. 😆 (Mostly it's my husband, who wears a baseball cap a lot.)
Also, I think you really hit the nail on the head regarding who a class B is perfect for. We insanely love ours. We do events (dance, run, bike, etc), and also love the solitude of dispersed camping all alone for hiking.
