1. Defend on point: practice standing an a corner and defend 2. Body conditioning 3. Don't let pressure fighter bully you 4. Make him respect you: hit them hard 5. Test at the beginning of the fight: how much power his strikes have 6. Take angles, be mobile 7. It's all mental, they wanna make it quick and tired fast 8. Use front kick & take angle
I agree but one problem is that they can catch the front kick even it comes behind the jab. May be I was making it too obvious. Or may be its a sparring thing where they don’t have to worry about the speed or the pain.
The true mark of a genius is the ability to explain multiple complexities as simply as possible. It is rare to find someone who can teach this well and compete at the highest level with such success. Hesssspect!
Yeah, I find defensive/counter heavy fighters a lot harder to deal with than offensive ones, but its probably because I dont know how to exploit their style
Gabriel has shown me that a lot of fighters are really classy. I know that it helps raise money for the fighters if they are obnoxious, but Gabriel approaches this like an elite athlete instead of like a macho man.
The hardest thing to get used to against a pressure fighter is getting used to someone staying so close to you all the time.. I just try stay relax and counter or let them in and fight them on the inside, fuck taking steps back, take the fight to them, but stay calm and pick your hard shots
Great breakdown - even though you make it sound easier said than done! Conditioning your body to take hard bodyshots and not getting intimidated by constant in your face pressure are both highly commendable physical and mental skills. Respect. 👍
"Get subscribed..." Dude, I'd already clicked that the moment I realised the fight advice was coming from a 6x pro champion. You're critical about what you say too; don't ever lose that.
I applied some of your tips today and you were right, I kept being elusive in the first rounds and pivoting to find different angles to come out from his pressure, in the last rounds he was with no energies and I could throw my combos on him without being chased anymore
Number 8 is amazing! Though, I gotta work on that myself. Thank you Gabriel Varga, your videos are so detailed and clear and you deserve so many more subs! I am going to have a fight once Covid restrictions lessen! Thank you again!
I sparred a pressure fighter and found myself in the corner & on the ropes. I was happy to experience that for the first time. Afterwards i started thinking what can i do differently next time & then i find this video. Thank you! Ive been binge watching your videos for awhile now but just saw this one. I definitely need to work on my defense & foot work for sure & commit to my shots. Cheers from a southern California nak muay 🙏
Watching this as a pressure fighter so I know how to beat a pressure fighter beater 😂 thanks for all your quality content Gabriel. I have my first fight in February and your videos have been such an important part of my fighting education. So much respect and love 🙏
He was a pretty strong fighter with a compact frame and pressure style. You managed to use your length not just for distance but in close and around the outside with good skill. Well fought. Liam Harrison is rough and tough... but you got to be as tough but also much smarter and well composed.... easier said than done.
WOW Thank you Gabriel for doing this video, I have trouble fighting shorter aggressive fighter all the time, and EVERYONE at my gym are pressure fighter except me, I have been looking for this kind of information everywhere
Im beginning in Muay thai, and I recently was sparring with a pressure fighter. This is really good for me to take and apply next time I spar him, thank you
So excited for your Robin van Roosmalen breakdown. There is just so much to be learned from losses and I would love to see how you learn from that fight.
Every time I think I have the measure of just how good your content can get, you proceed to prove me spectacularly wrong and I love it! Your work ethic, your attention to detail and your single-minded commitment to improving yourself as a fighter all shine through in your videos. Even more impressive are your integrity, your willingness to examine your weaknesses as well as your strengths, your open-minded attitude toward styles and approaches other than your own and most of all your respect both for other fighters and for your supporters. This marks you not only as a great fighter, but also as a gentleman and a martial artist of profound humanity. Many thanks and much respect, sir. 🦁🌞
Hey man my names Austin Powers last year I took my first Thai fight 2 weeks notice against a pressure fighter & won because I watched this video. Thanks brotha!
Your a legend mate, gotta love the detailed videos you do I'm always learning and taking away something from your videos its awesome seeing your pre fight battle plan get put into play and come to fruition for you and your team.
Cool video! Hey have you ever fight a guy with similar skills to raymond daniels or wonderboy, I know there are some guys that transition from full contact(american kickboxing) to normal kickboxing like jamie bates. Keep up the great content
Your shell is amazing..some say it doesn't work in mma with small gloves. yoel Romero does it but he is one of few. Justin gaethje too. What you said about hitting hard..those two are hitters
I have an amateur tournament coming up in a week, if I win I'll get a professional contract to fight in the best pro mma league in my country. Your video really helped me to recognize what I need to do. Thanks brother 🙏💪
thanks for the great tip sir.. the front kick does help intercept momentum.. its like reseting the combo being thrown back at one, then the opponent is forced to either restart the attack, re evaluate if it works, or attack recklessly... either way, it gives you some room to win
i might have contributed to the massive growth to this channel, i made a thread about the your video where you talk about the adjustements one has to make whilst switching from kickboxing to mma on sherdog::)
Beautiful advice! I’ve always prioritized defense. Well, mostly for my son. For myself, I started working almost 100% offense until I realized how important training defense is. I gotta play catch up now because I didn’t train my stationary/inside defense very much. However I did benefit from having to make up for it by bettering my footwork. Thanks for the video. Great tips!
Gabriel it's Kru Judd here from New Era Athletics.. Great video and explanation of strategy ... Prep training... And tactics. Keep it up!! Looking forward to your future fights.
Man, these breakdowns are great. You are such an intelligent fighter and it really shows. Keep up the great work. Im really enjoying all these videos. 👍👍
Wow kinda been waiting for you to do a breakdown video about the fight you had with Robin Van, it will must be inspiring for sure. Could see how you executed the tech that “take your time during the 8 count” which you have also covered before.
Usually, if you have a heavy handed pressure puncher, you counter with frequent body kicks as part of the game plan so that he's having to guard there and think twice about his punching offense.
1. Defend on point: practice standing an a corner and defend
2. Body conditioning
3. Don't let pressure fighter bully you
4. Make him respect you: hit them hard
5. Test at the beginning of the fight: how much power his strikes have
6. Take angles, be mobile
7. It's all mental, they wanna make it quick and tired fast

the one dislike is from a pressure fighter who lost his troll lightweight belt on a slick counter.
🤷 who?
@@santiagorincon92 paulo costa?
He brought 30 of his buddies to dislike the video as well
Troll lightweight belt Lol
His chin kissed my uppercut before cheating on it with the canvas 😂

Thanks my friend. I'm glad you enjoyed the video and game plan explanation.
big facts!!!
Would love one video on how to fight a counter puncher.
I can do that. It's entirely different fighting this style and honestly a bit more of a struggle for me. But I'll get it done.
@@GabrielVargaOfficial 💪💪
Use lot of feints to draw out a reaction or in other words the counter, and adjust
Feint a lot
