Captain, when Jerry looks a little disappointed, its cause he remembers back when he was a young man, and he understands those days are long gone. Hes happy he still gets to work with a great group of young men. Still able to get out there and make a difference. Its hard to read a older persons face, so dont read alot into it. Most people his age would not even try to do what he does, he is one of a kind. Like everyone else on the crew. Head up Captain.

Using that rock as a base for the road is a plus for the owner. Will definitely raise the road without having to use excess dirt for build up. Mother nature will provide when you least expect it!

"Sometimes Jerry just looks at me like he's disappointed, it really hurts. I don’t know. "
Jerry's probably thinking "Damn crazy kids these days, always running around like their hair's on fire, thinking they have it rough. They wouldn't know what rough looks like if it came up and slapped them in the face. It" ROTFL 🤣

Always with rock it must be 2 foot min in my area below foundation, roads, and exc.... When you hit rock while contracted you better have A rock clause or A very nice GC and developer..lol other than that with a change order you can dig, hammer or even blast its all usually paid by the hour and I love that kind of work. Like unsuitable material needing to be undercut you don't give your work away If its a lot of material to move get it out of there with a change order... Most privet already by the hour work or even lump sum pricing without knowing you make an agreement to get it out by some type of payment then back to the original job...Its like a small bonus. If its very little work I'd just dig it out and go on,, no worries.

A phenomenon called "burial pressure" causes metamorphic rock to form. Pressure increases because of the weight of other rocks. This weight produces regional metamorphism. The pressure can crush other rock to form metamorphic rock. Metamorphic rocks of this type located on fault lines are known as "mylonites."or some people are just igneous of what is happening

But I don't think anything less than his 318. It's all rock here. I"m thinking of building a post frame building and if I do, It'll probably be slab on grade. The soil here is pretty granular and if I dig the edges 12-18", I'll pretty much be on rock.

You call that rock cute. Come out West and we will show you rock. I've dug up rock that breaks buckets. When I was a young man. We layed fiber optic cable. We did a area in Southern California where we were breaking machines trying to get the rock out. We joked that someone should start a quarry until we found a quarry a half mile away. Then we just sighed a kept going. There is a reason they call our mountains the Rockies. God bless

BigJim57 I saw someone on another video (possibly you) prattling on about basement doors, why do people think they are so important? At least up here in central Indiana walk outs are uncommon and the rest od us have egress windows for emergencies.

Not surprized you hit rock. We typically find shale in ground that lays like that. Typically it is a great place to drill a well
