It blows my mind with how much difference the terrain (trees) looks between summer and winter for you guys. I am from Florida, and we hardly notice a difference with our terrain.
Even as far south as Tennessee, winter and summer are dramatically different. You have to get near the coast line for year round stability to be the case.

Brings back memories....summer of 1996 on the level Piedmont of Central Virginia... hubby and I living in 1965 Shasta while stick building our house...no running water, but great drilled well....and one of those pumps!!! Of course, we were operating on a much more humble scale....18 gallon rubbermaid totes to bale from to fill our 5 gallon bucket "shower" hung from a tree limb.... AND we got the house built without killing each other or getting a divorce!! What a gorgeous part of the country Andrew calls home!!!
Andrew, you could put a Solar Water Pump at that spring to pump up to your header tank(s). It doesn’t matter how slow they are as they pump non-stop while there is daylight and with virtually no maintenance.
If he does that, he should skip using the totes, and get a buried cistern, as since they no longer need to be moved, he can go much, much bigger, and being buried, they wont freeze in winter. Iirc, a 5000 gallon plastic cistern is around a buck a gallon.

Great to see another adventure with you and Samantha, Andrew! Your mountain top sure looks different when the hardwood trees lose their leaves. Would advise lab testing the water before drinking it. Great supply method for washing up though. The line and tank will likely freeze unless you insulate the tote and bury the water line to your trailer below the frost level. My dad built a simple tripod percussion well drilling rig at his cottage through earth but the water was only about 20-30 feet deep there. If you need to go through rock very deep you likely need a diamond bit rotary drill. If you plan to spend a lot of time there a well would be nice. Your videos are always interesting ! 👍👍👍
I have been researching about the cold and cold showers or bath's for a healthy life apparently is very good for you! It reminds me of when you said how you get use to the cold and it doesn't bother you! It's true your body builds up a resistance to the cold and it has many healthy benefits!
That tracked truck is so cool, go to be one of my favourite bits of kit. Ideal if your spending time up a mountain. As for the grass seed, they are definitely not the brightest of sparks in that store, keeping grass seed outside in non water tight or air tight containers is never a good thing. In those types of bags they have to be kept in the dry and up of the floor.
There is almost always something satisfying and relaxing about these videos. Moreso than most other similar ones. I also enjoy seeing Mrs. Camarata(?) getting credit for her work. It all makes me wish I was young again and happy to be able to work the machinery, clear wood, etc.
You have a couple of nice little springs there . That one in the rock shelter looks like it is ready made for a catch basin and maybe a solar pump . It may have had one at one time by the looks of it . Be fun to get the mini up there and clean it out . Done more than a few of those , even mixing mortar up top with a Zipline to lower the buckets of mortar down to the worksite . That was fun . Also , the over flow for both springs could be used for a microhydro system , at least give you a little electricity for the camp site . You certainly have enough fall to build pressure even if you may not have much flow volume .
Your lady reminds me so much of my daughter, stature, demeanor, looks, everything. I had to do a double- triple take to be sure my girl hadn't run off to New York! :o
We had property in North Carolina years ago and it was beautiful. Had a water spring on the mountain above cabin so we built a basin about three feet high to catch the water all impurities stayed in the bottom. Water flowed down the mountain across the river back up the mountain to the cabin. wonderful water. We used drisco pipe which held up good for the winter we just unhooked it at both ends and waterproofed the cabin and headed the mountain for the winter. Unfortunately due to health had to sell. Kids really werent in to caring for it so no reason to keep.
That's a nice, fast spring there and it is on a hillside. Perfect for a ram pump, I'd say. Those don't pump water all that fast but they never stop working and take no external power.

Nice setup for obtaining water. Spring water like that is the cleanest purest water you can get. Anything coming out of the ground high up like that is bound to be clean, as chemicals, etc run downhill. I'm sure he's getting at least a week out that one tote. That's a good deal of water.

Our home at the end of SilverHollow Road was fed by a spring from under a huge boulder. They built a concrete basin to collect the water with a little covering and roof. It was gravity fed to the house. 2” line covered in chicken wire to prevent porcupine damage. Totally unsuitable for winter. My parents had no clue when they bought it in 1962.
I would put a container or 2 at the collection sight then build a road below it so you could just run a hose from the full tank to the empty to gravity-fill the other tank. With as large as the valves are on those tanks it would likely be faster than pumping.
Andrew buddy I've been thinking about your awesome fresh water spring and thought that would make the perfect situation for a ram pump filling your IBC tank 24/7 for you. No need for electric or petrol pumps just a simple double check valve pushing your fresh water to your tank all day and night. Love your work too Brother.

i used to work at tractor supply, storing those out in the rain was never acceptable but them being discounted like that for being wet was 100% normal. Also brought a few of those home, seed is still good you just end up needing more for the same area.
Andrew should build a rain water collector, that fills the canisters at their location and a solar collector for heating that water up. An artificial little concrete basin at that first spring would also be nice for collecting potable water one for people and one for animals passing by. Always great videos ! Andrew bought the whole terrain there ?
@@randywilson6869 A solar collector, not solar cells. Solar collectors you can build yourself with a garden hose formed to a flat spiral, colored black, within a box, that let the sunlight through. The water gets heated inside the hose.
Andrew, those green leafy plants that you see beside the spring look like wild leeks, or wild ramps. They're VERY tastyand usually the first wild edible that comes up in the spring. You should pick some, your property looks perfect for them.
As Andrew pointed out to me once a few years ago about the tracks, "they make a great gift for the ex wife!" But I kept it because Levi put his paw print of approval on it.
Your strategy here works out so well. Collected so much machinery you could fix maintain yourself. Use it to make money, then how much value have you brought to that property, building roads etc Then you have the youtube and merch money as well. A lot of good decision making. All you need to do is find gold, gas, or oil on your property and start mining lol. :)
I love my wife of 26yrs both of us just out high school and our 18yr old son. But man what would we do without our dogs?! I wish they lived longer but they make up for it because they give 100% every day.

i used to work at tractor supply, storing those out in the rain was never acceptable but them being discounted like that for being wet was 100% normal.
Also brought a few of those home, seed is still good you just end up needing more for the same area.

Andrew should build a rain water collector, that fills the canisters at their location and a solar collector for heating that water up. An artificial little concrete basin at that first spring would also be nice for collecting potable water one for people and one for animals passing by. Always great videos ! Andrew bought the whole terrain there ?
How would the animals know which one to drink.

@@randywilson6869 A solar collector, not solar cells. Solar collectors you can build yourself with a garden hose formed to a flat spiral, colored black, within a box, that let the sunlight through. The water gets heated inside the hose.

Andrew, those green leafy plants that you see beside the spring look like wild leeks, or wild ramps. They're VERY tastyand usually the first wild edible that comes up in the spring. You should pick some, your property looks perfect for them.

Your strategy here works out so well. Collected so much machinery you could fix maintain yourself. Use it to make money, then how much value have you brought to that property, building roads etc Then you have the youtube and merch money as well. A lot of good decision making. All you need to do is find gold, gas, or oil on your property and start mining lol. :)

I love my wife of 26yrs both of us just out high school and our 18yr old son. But man what would we do without our dogs?! I wish they lived longer but they make up for it because they give 100% every day.
