    As a long-time, old-school Mopar Man, I'm gonna pass and say it like this:
    Due to my past experience owning Chrysler products and my past experience with Chrysler dealers, I can say unequivocally that under no circumstances will another one of their products ever have my name on the ownership.

    EV vs gas aside, let's really think about how this will compete in the space. The mid range Scat Pack will probably cost upper $60,000 range. Has under 270 mile range, 11.5 1/4 and weighs almost 6000lbs.
    The comparable Model S Long Range costs the same, weighs 1000lbs less, has way more range, and does the 1/4 in 10.7 seconds.
    It's not a gasoline muscle car, it's a terrible EV performer, why waste the money.

    EV sales are down in the US and I think they’ve saturated the market of the minority of Americans that actually like EVs. Pretty much everyone that likes EVs here already have one by now. Now the industry is trying to change the rest of our minds. EV prices are dropping like a stone. The tax incentive for these things is overblown. It’s $7500 but they act like it’s a credit you get when buying it, which it’s not. You have to file it on your tax return and many people don’t qualify for it.
    The timing of this thing couldn’t be worse. I hope it flops. They need to get the inline 6 version released soon. Or an inline 6 hybrid would be very interesting.

      @jpete3027666 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@TimEsterdahl thanks, I wasn't aware of that. I know a few people who've bought EVs within the last couple of years and none of them qualified for the credit. I have to think if they apply the credit when the purchase is made, this will only lead to manufacturers to drive up the prices. Handouts rarely have the intended effect.

    • @501Labs
      @501Labs 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I dislike Ev's but this is a terrible argument. Most Ev's, including this one, would smoke your Scat pack... They'd be over the finish line before you even matched their top speed. Thags just the nature of battery powered cars.

    • @henrytong8707
      @henrytong8707 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@501Labs EV cars are quicker but not faster. Once I hit 137 mph I can still keep going. EV cars cannot do that., the batteries will overheat, and the car will shut down. I tried that on my wife's Ioniq 6, It's max speed is 118 mph, just cuts off immediately.

    • @sammiches6859
      @sammiches6859 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@501LabsThat's not even close to true. With the way you can mod ICE cars, you can get them down to a high 6 second car. What you see is what you get with EVs. Plus, you've clearly not watched actual street racing from a 60mph roll. There are 25 year old Honda Civics that would smoke any EV in a roll.

    • @501Labs
      @501Labs 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @henrytong8707 Its not about who cam go faster. Its about who can go faster, quicker. You're not even gonna hit 137 in most races. So it doesn't matter if you can go 175 because you're not hitting 175 anyways. Its about who can get over the line the fastest... and thats not you when you're doing gas vs EV unless you dump a ridiculous amount of power/money into a gas car. By the time u hit 175 the race will have been over for 5 seconds. but sure... I guess you're going 175 in second place

    • @501Labs
      @501Labs 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @sammiches6859 a 6 second car? lmaoo Tell me you dont know what you're talking about without telling me you dont know what you're talking about. A SIX SECOND CAR?!?!My sisters 3.7 mustang v6 is a 6 second car. A tesla is a 3.7 second car.... in order to even match that you're looking at 80,000 in modifications to an honda civic.. thats not realistic for *most* people. Plus ... nobody is out here doing 60 mph roll ... thats already speed limit. Standard races are from a drag or atleast 40 ... Listen dude... im on the side of ICE ... I drive a modded 5.0... I hate Evs... but im not delusional about their power. You can "feel" however yoh want or throw the ridiculous fact that you "technically" can make an ICE faster... but you have to concede that its ridiculously expensive and 99% of people arnt doing that so its an invalid argument

    Yk what sucks. I really like the design. I love the exterior, and I really love the interior. I also like the EV, but that’s not the issue for me. The main issue for me is that there’s no v8 option. I don’t mind an EV charger. It’s pretty cool, but they’re polarizing their base just like every business in the last 7 years. I just don’t understand what it’s going to take for these companies to understand that they are what they are because of us, not a government mandate.

    Everyone knows the Challenger/Charger platforms are already overweight pigs based on mostly W211 chassis parts. Now they want to add more weight? And what tires will handle this added weight? Very expensive ones. I'll let everyone in on a secret, ICE engines aren't going anywhere in the next couple of decades. It's the global government pushing electric cars, but they will quickly drop the requirement when we get closer to the deadline and the manufacturers start to really complain.

I think people would have been more receptive if they had done it like the E-ray and used the electric motor as a supplement to a V8 or V6. An EV muscle car is an oxymoron and to me this is turning on your fans and selling out in a big way.

    I think it's a bit of both, on the one hand it's crazy because the idea of an electric muscle car is novel and new.
    At the same time it's brilliant because Dodge is pushing the segment in a new direction on the EV side (let's not forget they did make an AWD Challenger a few years back.
    As for the gas models, they will definitely be the ones to watch. American muscle fans have always preached the virtues of a proper V8 and for some the idea of an inline-six that has less cylinders might not compute with some loyalists

      I’m a V8 guy for sure but I do respect a good I6. The Ford Barra, Toyota 2JZ, and even the old diesel Cummins have more than proved themselves. Strangely though I’m not a fan of a V6. Ford has done good with the 3.5 Ecoboost along with the Buick Grand National and Chevy Syclone making a name for themselves but I feel the I6 just has better potential than a V6.

    Electric muscle is a misnomer. A muscle car is a car that is a rear-wheel drive American V8. This is a square Tesla with a V6 option, nothing more (that will be bought to do Hemi-swaps.) Dodge is neither crazy, nor are they brilliant. Killing their V8's is a stupid plan, and the only good thing is, Chargers are going back to being two door coupes like they are supposed to be. The only car company left making Muscle cars is Ford. Sure, the new Mustangs look like Camaros, but they even come with a manual option still, and the Coyote is here to stay. Stellantis is going to ruin Dodge beyond repair because they don't understand America's love for real muscle. Let the AMC treatment commence.

Just call it what it is an electric Dodge intrepid.....And the 6 Cylinders Dodge cars can sit in the same space as the BMW, Supra, GTR, You can make these cars very, very fast but still not a muscle car. Ford did it right by keeping the Ford Mustang with a V8 the Mustang is the only true muscle car still alive unlike with Chevy killing the Camaro and Dodge killing the Challenger and Charger which for dodge was a big mistake to do because that's one of their best selling vehicles I would bet also Stellantis does not know what Americans want instead they do things on what they want instead of knowing what Americans want this so called EV muscle car I will not call it that at all it's a EV vehicle like every other EV vehicle boring lame Ford did not cave into the woke Radical environmentalists groups and such. EVs only make sense in City's only everywhere else EVs do not make sense at all EVs belong in a junk yard it's a waste of money and it's pointless. ICE vehicles will reamin king with the next president election it's pretty obvious that EVs will most likely be axed or cut back even more and ICE vehicles that are powered by gas or diesel will remain and stay. Ford is the only one with a true muscle car with their Mustang with a V8.
