    Bruh, you gave the charger concept a standing ovation for being a really cool design, and then the production version comes out looking nearly identical, and now you're backtracking? Dude, come on
    Edit: also, the car wasn't meant to look like a Challenger replacement. *It was meant to look like a Charger.* The Charger's lines were always more organic than the Challenger's lines, yet you're not complaining about that. Also, that line you brought up at the front side that you said emphasizes the length is supposed to be a callback to the higher front ends that muscle cars used to have. Look, I respect your opinion when it comes to car design, but some of your takes on designs make me cringe, and this is one of them. Maybe compare it to the original Charger instead of the Challenger, because it's an unfair comparison

      this comment is super spot on, this is a charger not a challenger. this production model is pretty much 1:1 w the concept that was unveiled, though these first pictures felt a little jarring at first and I realize now it's literally just down to the wheels. throw something retro styled on there and this is a damn faithful modernization of the og charger.

      Frankly I think it looks boring. It’s the same design we’ve seen for over a decade now. I’m afraid that if this is ALL dodge has to offer, they may as well start making their funeral plans.

      @@Soh90 so... you've basically never seen a Dodge then? literally only 2 cars out of Dodge's entire lineup look like this, the charger and challenger. also, it looks like this because guess what, Dodge has literally built their roots off of the charger and challenger and have just updated the design to be more modern as the years go by. that's like saying ford's design is stale because they still make a mustang that looks like a 1965...

    You're comparing oranges to tangerines. This is a CHARGER. Take a look at the 69 Charger, and you'll see where the inspiration comes from. I think they knocked it out of the park with the design. Unfortunately, it's an EV. I hope the ICE versions can live up to their predecessors.

The side behind the door to the rear wheel is too long. The roof line is too long, and that is exaggerated by the short rear end.

    @kitoyobeni1 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

    I understand they're both 2 doors, but I don't think the Challenger should be in this comparison. Compare the new model to the outgoing and late 60s Chargers' design. The lines of the canopy and the back 2/3 of the car look very reminiscent of the 68 and 69 models. The nose does seem a bit wonky, although I do like the air passway thru the nose and over the hood. I think that grill opening needs to be opened up a bit, top to bottom. I do think darker colors could hide some of the more awkward front end lines.
    The fake engine noise will be awkward regardless, so why not get relative with it and offer some unique settings.

    The 2024 uses more design cues from the 66-67 Chargers. The Challenger of course pays its homage to the 70-74 Challengers. Now on the New Charger if you look closely to the side profile especially up front where you mentioned the cut off line it is mimics the 68-70 Chargers with the how flat their noses were. To me both show their heritage to Muscle Cars or Lore !!!! I think it will be a homerun once the Ice Versions hit the market probably springtime next year

    A return of a 2 door Charger is a welcome event. The clean lines impress me and they evoke the 1968-70 design, which to my eyes is a very good thing. The 1970 Challenger is also a great design - I never warmed up to the 2007 (and beyond) version - too big, too chunky - although one cannot ignore the performance of the recent versions.

    Specifically referring to the challenger as “The old one” …
    bruh this isn’t “the new one” it’s literally a different car.
    Why there’s no mention of any other PREVIOUS Charger on the video is WILD.
    The 60’s charger basically DEFINED what we refer to as “classic muscle proportions “ to this day. That coke bottle shape has always been it’s main factor and you’re comparing it to the Chrysler Brick ? I’m Lost…

    u got points but it is based on the 60s daytona, which also looked sleeker and more aerodynamic than other muscle cars of the time. And other points about the hatchback proportions, the space in front side, etc., I agree with you that the Challenger is more beautiful but all of these can be kind of seen on the 60s Charger Daytonas, so I think they did a great job. Just take a look at 60s Daytona, even the gear shifter is similar.
    Also, I don’t think this is replacing the Challenger, it is a Charger after all.

  • @Sakratic
    @Sakratic 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    In profile, I think its because of a decision to save cost, as there is no longer a challenger but one model, the charger, now with 2 or 4 doors, as opposed to what you suggested that it was more designed like this, with these proportions because it needed to be EV and as you should know, its really designed to utilize both EV and petrol versions. When you look in side profile view, they basically did what others have done in the past when they made a 2 door coupe, after the fact, meaning taking a design from the ground up as a sedan, than taking off the back doors, extending the front doors, to make a 2 door with what amounts to a compromised coupe, sitting on the same wheelbase as the sedan version it's based on. Yes, they chose to launch the car first with the 2 door but it was designed from the ground up to be a sedan. This is completely different then the 3 and 4 series and the C Class for instance. I think also that is why the engineers felt it feasible to make the charger 2 door, a hatchback like rear opening and not a trunk as it just made sense with the sedans rear sloping roof design and short deck to make it a liftgate on a 2 door model and put a marketing spin on it as its a coupe but more versatile! This is all obviously my opinion on it, just like you, and your take on it. Lastly, you do see on the EV version, because they had the clearance and because they also needed better efficiency, they couldn't make the hood straight and blunt - I think the solution/compromise they came up with, retaining the top part and verticality of the front facia and making it like a wing, gives the illusion of the past designs but the efficiency courtesy the sloping hood. And the chargers with the petrol engines they kept it old school with even a power bulge in the hood and if you look at it head on, you'll see it's almost styled identically with the EV, except for two additional cutouts under the headlights, obviously for additional cooling needs of the combustion engine. BTW, enjoy your content, as I'm here from TheSketchMonkey.

    First time seeing your channel. Pretty good man. I’m a designer/custom builder that i do for homes and landscape in Florida so I’m interested in watching you stare at the designs and see what you see. It’s made me want to start goofing around with looking at cars the same way i see the rest of the world. People don’t know that once you do design and hit a certain level that you can see into the head of other designers from their work and you can actually tell their capabilities with their mind and imagination and know right off the bat if you respect them. Lower level or limited mind designers have no idea that real natural designers can see in their head and know they suck and just follow rules of their field. Like a boring interior designer who just sticks chairs in corners of rooms and calls that design because that is what normal ppl don’t do.
    Definitely liked your break down. The car does look horrible and boring on the track seen. When just sitting there inside it looks ok but any car does but that car on the track looked like an old lady car. That hatchback looks horrendous-just because Corvette got away with it doesn’t mean Mopar can and those hatchback 4cylinder chbargers in 80s were throw away disposable cars. They were a joke and embarrassing. A lot of people today don’t know the government came after V8s back in 80s and 90s and it pretty much ended up that you could on,y get a V8 in a luxury car. So we’ve been here with the govt before and all that was back then was to bring in Japanese and Korean and a few French POS cars so govt could make side cash and make us all drive garbage of which driving belts and chains broke nonstop in cars during that time-it was the first question you asked when buying a used car. They did try and brainwash ppl back then that it was acid rain and global cooling,ozone hole(fake) lol. Same scam different day. Just so you know ppl -we need acidic rain,because most soils have high PH and it neutralizes the soils so plants can take up more nutrients including the nitrogen that’s in rain. So they fooled ppl for something that is natural. We aren’t parasites ppl-stop letting them brainwash you that we are and we are on,y using stuff on planet-there is no perfect climate -it always will change and just because these old ppl grew up with it different doesn’t mean that was the perfect climate. Because their parents would argue they had the perfect climate-when you can plant food all year in Canada will be a good climate and fossils from tropical animals have been found up there so it’s been that way before and will again-that’s awesome-keep snow just up in high elevation. That will be a perfect climate. Anyway. I think Dodge is waiting to see who becomes President so they know if these ridiculous emissions laws get ripped up so they can give surprises with these cars-they did design them to be electric or gas if you notice-so they’re hoping they can do both because a V8 with electric motor to make AWD would be cool for when you’re in rain and then shut it off.

    I think it's actually one of the best looking cars in a long time, and I'm glad they chose the Charger to do it with. The Charger has always changed with the times, it was a muscle car in the 60s, it was a land yacht in the 70s, it was a turbo hatch in the 80s, and it was a performance sedan for the 2000s and 2010s. I think they knocked it out of the park and while I'll miss the Hemi, anyone who hates on the design I can't take serious, it looks like the 66 Charger and 68 charger had a baby in 2020.

    The design is very nice and symmetrical but not aggressive enough IMO. But what’s really going to kill this for MOPAR owners especially with the electric version is the Top Speed figures - 137MPH. Also I’m really getting tired with the electrics going without gauge instrument clusters but just a flat screen display. It definitely removes so much of the aggressiveness from the interior. There is definitely a lot more to be had with the interior instrument clusters. They can be digital but give more emphasis to the IC housing.

    I think this is a very nice, modern iteration of the first 2 gens of Charger. I’m confident in saying the design decisions were based more on aerodynamic considerations, and not on any modern “muscle car” design elements (like wheel/fender flairs, which I guess would take away some wind resistance). The roofline is a tasteful call-back to the original fastback design, and I would guess it helps with aero too. I can definitely see the 2nd-gen side character lines in this modern interpretation. I think it looks great, especially when you compare it to any other EV currently in the US market. This doesn’t need any stylistic “muscle car” pretensions. Tesla added red calipers to their Performance models, which makes a tasteful differentiation from the base models. Kudos Stellantis. This may make up for all the brand new 2023 Chargers & Challengers sitting unsold in the dealership lots.

And the supersized screens (in every car) and digital dashes are out of hand.
