This may be everyone’s last chance to get a brand new American FWD sedan in their lifetime. Because many European and Asian brands offer a number of cheap FWD sedans here in America and many Americans, on the other hand, prefer SUVs over sedans, it is unlikely that any American brand will ever offer a FWD sedan again in the near future. After this, the only American sedan options will be the Cadillac CT4 and CT5, both of which are RWD with optional AWD. The only upcoming sedan hasn’t been confirmed yet, but it’s possible as Ford has recently officially announced the possibility of a 4-door sedan variant of the Mustang and it’ll most likely be RWD-only, since it’ll most likely use a slightly lengthened version of the same platform as the current Mustang which is RWD-only as the Interceptor concept from 2007 did that. So this is it everyone, your last chance to get an American FWD sedan, exactly what was dominant in the 1980s and thus reminiscent of those times. If you want one, get it while you still can!

It is the same mistake again when GM discontinued the Malibu back in 1983. After many of their loyal customers complained they decided to bring it back in 1998. Now they are killing it again. For a sedan Chevrolet will not offer anything on their website now. Go look at Toyota's website, and you will see several sedan offerings. Now Chevrolet will look like Buick with only SUV offerings. GM just bought out a lot of Buick franchises because they did not want to invest the money to convert over to electric vehicles. Not everybody wants an electric vehicle. What about those people who live off grid, and those who do extended traveling?

Just got my 2012 250 Coupe- 1.8/turbo and I'm putting it back together but my test for getting a car or not is when I sit in it and test drive it,..., as I "try" to get out of the car and my butt will not let go of the seat,....., my butt just will not let go! Just a super little car, VERY QUIET in the cabin, and for a stiff AMG "SPORTS" trim ,..., it rides nicely LOL!!!! (Big plus with the 1.8 liter,...., 34mpg! not bad for $8000 + $3000 in repairs from previously CHEAP owners) All in All- cost me $11,500 for a very quick(really fast actually) economy sports car. Who'd have known!? HOOOT!? just have 1-2 thousand on the side for yearly maintenances after all the warranty time is up and this car will serve you well. (Oh and tires? front and back are different so I get a set every year from Simple Tire.com,..., BIG OH 40,000 mile warranty LionHarts for,...., $238 a set of 4! great tire and the uni-directionals are the bomb)

Ford ties GM with cancelling the Fusion. They both should be applying brains and technology to make these cars more reliable, with better fuel economy, easier to service (no buried servo motors, etc.), and less costly. The new SUV stands for short ugly van. These new SUVs are mini vans with hoods. An SUV that stands for sport utility vehicle is a station wagon body on a pickup frame; a 1978 Chey Suburban was an SUV.

here is what happens when most of your cars are sold to fleets. They keep them for a year and then dump them on the used market which makes it harder to sell new ones when you can get a gently used one for a lot cheaper. So dealers have to mark down in order to move them which makes them not want to carry it.

Sedans never sell well ..even if that has a proper front longitudinally mounted RWD drivetrain .... Americans are so dump and can be brainwashed easily ... Manufacturers made them think bugger the better - look at the trend in 60s and it hasn't changed either ... Americans ( now the entire world) thinks SUVs are better even jacked up front wheel drive crossovers with AWD system .... Haha They have come a long way but previous gen ones like jeep grand Cherokee and many pick up trucks has extremely poor passenger Protection in small frontal over lap test ...that even gran Cherokee even ejecting the passenger even in current gen which is refined those idiots hasnt figured out to have a strong a pillar lol .... Malibu and Impala were made front wheel drive and actually drive really bad been with the transversely mounted V6 it has so much torque steer .. They should have utilized the rwd platform reserved for Cadillac ( as it still find hard to compete with over-priced European and Asian cars ) may be take some aluminum alloys off and use steel and create a rwd chassis that can be utilized across the board ... Learn from what ford did with the current gen explorer and aviator ... Better performance, better scaling to luxury and it sells pretty good ... I am sure most of the people who read this comment won't even understand anything that I will say ...

GM has made many mistakes in the last decade 🤣. Malibu has always been a good seller much like the Ford Fusion. The automaker’s just don’t care. It’s all about CUVs and SUVs that all look the same but boost more profits. Tak on the “EV shove it down your throat” agenda and a lot of decent somewhat reliable vehicles will continue to die.

    • @DeadAir21

The Malibu isn’t making them any real money. Like he said in the video most of these Malibus were sold to fleets and they don’t pay retail for those units. And here is what happens when most of your cars are sold to fleets. They keep them for a year and then dump them on the used market which makes it harder to sell new ones when you can get a gently used one for a lot cheaper. They did it to themselves. Why buy a Chevy Malibu, with no reputation for reliability or Camry or Accord with legendary reliability? a small 4 cyl American car with a notorious reputation for bad quality. Or a Corolla..... people are getting a Corolla. Among EVs, Chevy has a better reputation. The Bolt battery buyback helped. In Uber/Lyft. The EUV is roomy and cheap to operate and buy. esp if you can charge at home

Cars, vehicles in general, don't hold the allure they did a generation ago. My nephew drives some kind of a 10 year old Scion. He pumps all his discretionary income into computers and stuff like that. And he comes from a family of gear heads. He grew up around cars, trucks, dirtbikes, snowmobiles, and heavy equipment. It's the prices, I think, that are making him and his friends not care.

People need to realize this is all planned. These multi million dollar CEOs are stumbling around blindly, they know exactly what they are doing. Remember? "You will own nothing and be happy." Every car company is trying to position themselves as "upscale" or "luxury" or "near-luxury". There is no middle class, the economies are in ruins and the debt of every nation is unpayable. Only the wealthy will be buying cars and they only want status symbols, like Cadillac was in the 1950s-60s.
