FIRST 0-60 mph Test- Diesel OMEGA CAR - Video 3 of 3

  • After waiting 10 years, Casey Putsch dusts off his creation and gets real world 0-60 mph acceleration data to see if his invention will be the sustainably recyclable automotive industry game changer he envisioned after being angered by the lies of American politicians in 2008. This video is the third of three and is the first 0-60 mph test. This test used aa precision accelerometer and GPS tracker too give exact readings to two decimal places. The Omega car achieved over 104 MPG non-highway driving in the second video and Casey's next goal in to only burn 1 ounce of diesel per mile or to achieve 128 MPG. Today's test video is a direct comparison to a Tesla Model 3, a C7 Corvette, and a Dodge Viper RT/10. The fastest readings were- Tesla at 4.60, Omega at 4.61, Corvette at 4.61, and the Viper RT/10 at 4.85. The Omega is the cheapest car to drive per mile beating out the Tesla and is the only one of these cars created with sustainability and affordability as a top priority.

    • @Skylancer727
      @Skylancer727 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

Lithium ion batteries were way more expensive when the EV1 came out. The car still ended up being valued around $48K even after using the cheaper batteries and GM had so little confidence in it they only allowed leasing. I strongly believe they scrapped them because the realized the batteries could result in a hydrogen explosion in someone's home if they charged in their garage which it openly stated to never do.
And the XL1 was never going to get a consumer model because these conglomerates don't like making niche products. A consumer car with high fuel economy would be great for the environment and our reliance on gas, but people don't actively buy such cars. The Prius for example had continued to be a punching bag by everyone since it's inception. Hell Toyota even realized this and gave it a bigger engine and lowered increased the aerodynamic drag just to make it look cool and drive faster. They want to make cars anyone would buy which is why many have even stopped selling coupes and sedans. It's easier to push someone up to a bigger car than encourage people to try a smaller car.

No silly stuff like a Tesla, but just performance-enhancing gadgets. Join two 600cc Kei car engines to make a 1.2-liter V6 that can scream its head off at 8000 RPM all day, and use some of those very powerful eBike hub motors to build a triple motor (torque vectoring in the front, integrated starter and generator in the rear) performance hybrid system. Sequential automated transmission hacked together from a motorcycle to finish it off.
Baby Ferrari SF90 that can do 0 to 60 in 4 seconds, probably still get 100 mpg if driven correctly, and not continuously idle and waste fuel.

The son of a b**** got 40 mpg at 40mph, about 30 at 55mph. The dynamic skip fire sounded dumb but they were really onto something. Several questions for OC.V2, roughly in order of presumed difficulty(edited in to avoid auto-yeet):
    >Better (for performance) tires?
    >Bugatti Tourbillion style steering wheel/cluster placement?
    >De-Dion rear axle with Satchell Link and inboard brakes?
    >Front steering rack for best feel with 50-60 degrees of angle (one way) and enough lock-to-lock rotation to equate back to a 10:1-12:1 ratio(bout a 1200-degree rack)?
    >V6 TDI for more power and better sound?
    >Bladed seating position previously mentioned with customizable shifter placement?
    >Roof cutouts on doors for even easier ingress/egress?
    >A larger 3-seat version with a center driver and passengers offset the same as the bladed 2-seat idea so the driver's seat can slide over (like that one modded 911 or w/e)?
    >Making the transverse equivalent to the ZF 8-speed, or if not, running an actual ZF8 Countach style (mid/rear long, trans forward, V-drive RWD) and pairing it with a Turbolamik (or equivalent) trans controller to have the ultimate in transmission flexibility between both automatic and manual shifting incl with or without clutch and H-pattern or sequential?
    >Barring the above, how about simply a dog box H-pattern for maximum spirited driving fun of the true enthusiast?
Also, I recognize that if you make a larger version, it'll probably just be 4 seats since that won't have a much larger cockpit or footprint than a 3-seat version, anyway, and would literally be 1/3rd more practical than the 3-seat is. Like, the bladed 2-seat is genuinely a good optimization, but the offset 3-seat is really just for dudes like me who want a budget Mclaren F1/Speedtail/T.50 that's slightly easier to get in and out of due to the horizontal slider.
And TBH, the bladed 2-seat will probably get you close enough to the center since each seat would be roughly 2 inches overlapped on the centerline of the car. BTW, if it wasn't clear, as long as you're pairing the bladed pos (driver still on left) with a left side shifter, you could probably do away with that side's door entirely and just have a single door system. IDK if that'd make roll-down windows on the port side easier or not, but I digress.

@@vitordelima true, a good crash structure, like a F1 nose is supposed to shed something like 5x the energy of a conventional metallic structure of the same weight iirc. That requires tons of testing to make. But basic physics says that if a 1500lb car and a 5000lb car have an inelastic head on crash, @ 40mph, the final mass of both cars ends up travelling 21.5 mph in the direction the heavier car was going... so one car saw a 18mph change, the other 61.5mph. The energy absorbtion needs to be much better in the lighter car, or the occupants are much more likely to be injured.

I am thankful that your Omega car videos showed up on my TH-cam page. For most of my life I have been a Ford fanatic. But as time has gone on I have been extremely disappointed in all of the American car manufacturers. Very little real innovation has come out since who knows when. In 1985 Ford created the SVO Mustang with its four cylinder turbo engine that ran almost as fast as the V8. Also in 1985 my father bought a Toyota MR2. It was getting around 30mpg at that time. It drove like a dream and was reliable. I look at where we are now and say to myself "why are we not farther along?". For as big as the American market is we are very finicky about our cars. All you have to do is look at how car manufacturers made the CV transmissions act like standard automatic transmissions. And why my mothers Honda Insight with a CV transmission has shifter paddles. Good luck on your venture I am sure with what you have accomplished and with updates that have happened since your initial design you will produce something incredible.

They would require you to get them higher to come to market, which means the design will change causing more wind resistant to get that height, which would lead to lower MPG

Been enjoying these videos. You've engineered and constructed something really really cool. Looking forward to even more facts and figures about your car.

I'm sure you've heard of the 128 mpg Urba Centurion kit car. That thing was really slow and and very small by modern standards. A kit car would solve distribution problems worldwide, but then people will (of course) need to source TDI motors, which are getting harder to come by. Kubota Engine or similar would be cool, but I don't think it would have the power (speed) that a TDI would.

Very cool that it was successful in achieving all of your original goals.
I know its a concept car, but man it would be cool to buy one or build one like it! Definitely a better looking car than all the plain jane boxes made today!

Not that I could afford one of these, nor am I smart enough to build one, but I want one. I hope you can bring this to market in the near future.

I think in terms of computers since that’s what I’m familiar with. Your car really reminds me of the RISC architecture to the monopolistic evil architecture that is x86_64 (x86_64 chips are only legally able to be made by AMD or Intel and if either of them ever were bought it would turn void), and guess what? RISC processors are finally taking off, they’re more open and much more power efficient, but somehow they’re finally getting some time in the spotlight and major chip makers are panicking. I’d love to see something like your car come to market, I really think it would give the major auto companies a run for their money. Even if it never got massive market share, if it’s more affordable and better, people will want it. Plain and simple. I think something like your car on the market could really push the auto companies to innovate.

We're going back into the 80's, with different instruction sets and chips in all sorts of devices, making necessary the use of intermediate layers between hardware and software to avoid the need to completely rewrite the code for every type of machine. All this translation ends up being buggy and wasting energy. X86 should have been made open, like IBM opened the PC specification in the early 80's.

I love the mileage your omega car gets
I agree that there way better ways to build vehicles.
I also say keeping your going longer is better for the environment, mine is a 1993 Mazda Mx3 and it's still fun to drive, long live manuals
