There's another one where (I assume the same rider) utterly butchers the start on a launch control bike (How you'd do that I don't know) then nearly flips it on the first to second change... You could just about get a punter from the pub to do a better job.

llavero5 600s go faster than that in the 1/4. the guy on the bike sucked. they have touring bikes that run 10 second 1/4 miles and are not racing bikes in the least.

As do I as a CBR1000RR (2016) owner and racer (closed course obviously ;]) I quite like racing cars on my bike. Won't detail the build because then it would take the fun out of beating my friends on their hayabusas and the looks on their faces.

The Forklift has insane amounts of torque, but the Lawnmower's power-to-weight ratio would be far superior... All jokes aside this sounds like it has the potential to be a relatively close race.

Yeah when it comes to cars even manual a intermediate driver experience is needed, but for a bike, it all depends on the rider because it only has one wheel to bring it’s power and launching it is extremely hard for an unprofessional rider

this video is embarrassing, I have a suzuki gsxr 600, my motorcycle goes down 11 seconds in 1/4 mile .... and that cheap driver makes 11.2 seconds in 1/4 mile in a cbr 1000 2018 ?? what a bad joke!

jeff rosenberg good rider will that the cbr1000 into mid 9 seconds easily I've run faster than 11.2 on a fully stock 2006 Honda cbr 600rr back when I first started racing I've progressed to much quicker times now on newer super sport and hyper bikes
11.2 for a Fireblade is a joke. They are 9's from factory... rider error. Also from the rolling race he must've been in a higher gear because a 1000cc bike would just disappear from the getgo.

Show please where you seen 9secs time of fireblade stock in 1/4 mile. 9secs it's drag tuned zx14 numbers.
Not even a 2S car would "disappear" from an NSX in a rolling race. The CBR does 9.96 1/4 in perfect conditions, that's like 10.5 in these conditions. So yeah he botched the launch, but the bike did what it was supposed to in the rolling race.

@@Fearless154 You can find plenty of references to Fireblade specs that list a quarter mile time of 9.9ish, but I get your point that published specs aren't always the same as real-world results.
So here's a reputable video of a stock 2012 Fireblade running 10.00s on a quarter mile (skip to around 5:00 for drag runs). th-cam.com/video/IqRE7hfw44w/w-d-xo.html
Note that the 2018 Fireblade we have here racing against the NSX is 15kg lighter and has 10hp advantage than the 2012 Fireblade that ran 10sec flat in the video I linked. Given the significant power/weight advantage it's reasonable to think the 2018 bike is at least 0.01sec faster which puts it in the 9's.
And it's not just Fireblades that are in the 9's - take a look at the Wikipedia page below and there are a bunch of litre bikes listed that have all run 9's in stock tune (including the ZX14).

These bikes are making well over 200 HP, RELIABLE, and compliant with both emissions and noise. That's nuts.
Like seriously, the deep dives into fluid dynamics, exhaust system acoustics, port shapes, valve included angles, metallurgy, heat transfer properties, combustion mechanics, aerodynamics, suspension physics... it's enough to drive a man up the frickin wall.

Didn’t expect that ! The bike has a much higher power to weight ratio but i guess the clever all wheel drive system in the NSX is just unbeatable..
On a bike you need to finely manage throttle and clutch to keep the revs up but also not spin the tyre nor wheelie. On an auto car all you do is mash the throttle and release the brake, it's much easier.
That said, AWD and buckets of torque means an advantage off the line is not surprising IMO

Leaving aside that the CBR 0-60 time is lower than the new NSX.... ;)
Modelero 1000cc superbike 0-60 2.5-2.9 second. Depends on brands. Its hard to launch a bike everytime, because the wheel base is so short, not a drag bike out of box. If this CBR,has extended swing arm, nsx won't stand a chace, because a ride can go full throttle from start
The reason why the Europe spec NSX can cover the 1/4 mile in under 11 seconds and the US spec can't is because the Europe spec is lighter than the American spec

Better fuel and less regulation, the land of the free isn't as free as they'd like. Pretty sure they are stricter on emissions too even though there's so many big engines made there

A S1000rr destroys a Bugatti Veyron and the Fireblade and the S1000rr are pretty close matched.
So yes it depends on the rider.

@@franco_0347 S1000RR is comparable to the CBR1000RR for sure. Electronics make 1/4 miles a lot less about rider (just go full throttle) unless the rider is exceptional (meaning probably motogp level), but that's still not the point. They doctored this from the getgo...

I dont know whats wrong with that biker on the first launch. I have the same bike and i can launch the bike 0-60 under 3 seconds. Superbike acceleration supposed to be faster than supercar because bike is better in power to weight ratio.

Tony White no, in reverse so they’re going backwards. The Type R being FF will get a great launch because the front will have the weight shifted to it as they’re going backwards.

Why can they make a one litre bike engine that sounds amazing but almost any car engine under 3 litres sounds shit?
Regulations and length of exhaust pipes I guess. Also the smaller bike engines can rev up quicker and up to a higher redline, giving them that angry scream.

Wouldn't do anything, the bike will slightly lift the front wheel when on full throttle. This bike should be able to do just under 10 in the 1/4 mile if they had a professional rider.
Not even a professional rider, just a good rider would do. I'm not a big fan of the Fireblade, but I still respect it enough to defend it.

I'm 71 years old now but in my younger days I had several motorcycles over the years, and my favorite bike was a 1987 Honda VFR 700. I only kept it for six months because I was getting in trouble with it a lot (six speeding tickets in six months). So I quit stopping for them (but that's another story), and I haven't had another bike since around 1996. But if I was going to get another bike it would be this Honda 1000RR. I know the Kawasaki H2 is faster, but Hondas have a feel about them that no other bikes have. Riding a Honda makes it feel like it's a part of you.

I am glad they acknowledged the error, I find it frustrating how often they do these comparisons without getting a proper rider in.
BUT. This does illustrate an important point which is without skill no bike will get to its maximum potential. Any idiot in a car can get reasonably close, especially when you are talking about one teched out like made as this one is.

I knew it was game over the moment I saw the CBR rider start with one foot down.
In 1995, Ricky Gadsen did a 9.99 second 1/4 mile pass on a stock ZX9R. That was a bike that was far heavier and less powerful than a current CBR1000R. Launching a motorcycle is an art best left to professional drag racers. You have to perfectly combine, throttle, clutch , traction, body position and reaction time. I don't know if the driver of the NSX used launch control so I'm going to assume he did. Launch control basically allows you to launch like a pro drag racer, with only reaction time left to the driver. So we can safely assume that, on average, a bloke in an NSX will beat a bloke on a CBR1000R but here, had the bike been piloted by a competent rider (with drag racing skills akin to the NSX launch control), the result would have been far different.

Interesting video. Perhaps not the best launch from the bike but it’s not as easy to launch a bike as a car for the average guy.
I do a lot of drag events and a blade should run mid tens on a dry day with a good jockey. Stock I’ve never seen one run sub ten.
