@@rbeck3200tb40 Well there were plenty of childhood stories of knights going off to kill giants. Those giants were probably like Andre the Giant--misunderstood. So there's your IDIOTs and your heroes, some bully knights.
It's so great to see Jake really turn his life around and make a great comeback. After everything he suffered as a child an later achieved as a wrestler it was heartbreaking to watch his fall, which makes his comeback even more inspiring.
There is, however, no record of Jake ever slamming Andre. Jake also tried to say he was going to get a feud with Warrior for the WWF title in 1991, except Warrior lost that title at Royal Rumble, and the way Jake told it, this was meant ro have happened around SummerSlam, so either Jake has it badly wrong due to alcoholic amnesia or he is telling outright lies!
Those idiots that messed with Andre the Giant are lucky he was the great person he was. He could have crushed those people like they didn't even exist like a fly. The wrestling world is very tight knit. They travel together around the country and even the world nearly 365 days out of the year. Wrestlers are more than friend; they're family, so when they lose one of their own, it's losing a family member.
He's a great guy. Hung with him at Comic con revolution in chicago last weekend. Helped take care of his table while we ran our own booth. Gave us autographs and hugged everyone when he left. Saying thank you guys so much for the help.
The way he glows when talking about Andre you can tell they were great buds and had a fantastic friendship. You can tell by the way he starts to choke up that he misses him so much. It's beautiful, and sad.
True story: I am a mental health counselor. I showed the JR documentary to one of my patients. He LOVED it. He was deeply moved by it. I ended up buying 2 copies 1 for him and 1 for the entire ward of 29 other patients. They watch it once a month.
@@tomcarpenter7821 I found out the copy I gave to the ward, is now in circulation at our hospital library. Other counselors check it out throughout the ENTIRE hospital. Jake the Snake is very well known at my hospital. I wish he could read this and know his story has saved lives.
Jake's basically the wrestling version of Keith Richards. Conventional wisdom suggests he should have been gone along time ago. Still with us and last I heard still straight.
I went from 6'3" as a senior in high school to 6'1" at 71. Construction work has taken it's tole. Back aches half the time. Can't imagine how professional wrestlers must feel later in life.
I have scoliosis. And had my second spinal fusion a year and 2 weeks ago. I was only 5'6" and now am 5'4". And I'm 55 years old. So yep I agree I can't imagine how much pain Andre and all wrestlers and boxers and UFC people feel from the years of abuse on their bodies. Actually let me add professional athletes period. I know my brothers played hockey in high school and collage and they are in their fifties and sixties now and still feeling the effects all these years later. And they just played as young adults.
I'm so glad to see Jake the Snake healthy and happy, was pretty soul crushing to see him in 'Beyond The Mat' hitting rock bottom but it goes to show it's never too late to turn it around.

During a break on the set of “The Princess Bride”, cast members, crew...everyone...was standing around waiting for the next shot to be set up. Suddenly, Andre rips a fart that lasted a full 15-20 seconds, in front of everyone, men and women. It reportedly sounded like something that would come out of a Water Buffalo’s ass, it was so loud. Everyone was in shock (or awe) not saying a word. Finally, Rob Reiner (the Director) said “Andre...are you OK?”. Andre replied, “I am now, Boss.” Classic...
I remember this. They were doing a rehearsal shot where they were standing on a parapet overlooking the castle, and Cary Elwes is mostly dead. Andre's fart actually shook the plywood set they were standing on, and the sound guy was probably deaf by the time it was over
The empathy in Jake the snake when he talks about Andre the giant and when he says that he would cry if he sees the documentary , broke me. I have a new respect for the man and have hope for how good humans are

Like it or not, wrestlers are athletes. Of course the outcomes are planned, but it doesn't change the fact that every stunt they do in ring is 100% true (with some tricks).
I seen Andre at an airport one time waiting for his flight. He couldn't sit anywhere because all the chairs had those arm rests separating them, Someone managed to remove one so he could sit, and he still had trouble squeezing into two chairs. I just remember his feet coming half up the back of the seats in front of him, and the size of his hands. You could tell he was embarrassed, he some old guy with him almost shielding Andre from people. Although he did let some of us kids get his autograph and was very nice to us. Despite seeing how uncomfortable he was. Kind sad, but as a kid you never pay attention to that kind of stuff.
Jake used to live near me in Lowestoft in the early 2000s. Met him a few times, always seemed friendly and ready to tell some stories of his time in the WWF.
@Nivek Yea, love to hear about the alcoholic fat giant with terrible breath, who fingers oter wrestler's'ass, ripps their hair and crushes their ribcage while farting on them. What a great guy LOL. Glad that obece fuck is dead.
Ive digested dozens of stories of The Giant. Somehow, the stories keep coming. What an amazing human being. Fitting that a guy 3 times the size of an average human seemed to have 3 times the adventure of the average human. Rest in Peace Fezzik
In the 80's I literally ran into Andre at an airport. I was about 9 yrs old so at least 4 ft something tall. My forehead smacked right into his kneecap! He looked down, laughed that same laugh, and shook my arm not my hand! Scared the piss out of me!
his knees weren't 4ft in the air. The guy wasn't even 7ft really, there pics of him with 7ft people who are taller than him. Not to mention he had a very long body compared to his legs anyway. so theres absolutely no way your head banged into his knees. if you're gonna lie, at least make it factually accurate...
@@Noisehead101 By the age of 12 Andre measured 6'3". At age 17 he was 6'7", and his measured height at Wrestlemania 3 (1987) was 7'5" (of course this could be exaggerated). Oh and wikipedia lists him as 7'4", although imdb lists him at 7'. Another thing is that he lost some height due to back surgery but still stood about 6'7".
I met Andre 3 times. I was a bouncer... 6'5" and 365 lbs with 8% body fat. When you walked in the door, I was in a booth with 12" elevation. Andre said, "I want to be your friend". I was sooo happy he said that. During the 3 times I met him, we talked a total of maybe 2 minutes. On his 3rd visit, I had problems with some college football players. I was trying to get them to leave, but they wanted to fight. 5 of them and 1 of me. They got up and knocked over their chairs... then Andre said from behind me... you mess with him and you mess with me... they turned and left. Andre smiled, finished his beer and I never saw him again.
@@nolanm.k4315 only able to maintain that for a couple months. I went back to nearly 420 lbs a few months later. 760 lb deadlift regular grip. 1,000 lb deadlift with hooks and straps... dislocated both my sholders. Stopped powerlifting after that. Torn pec that same year. Your body isn't meant to lift those extreme weights. At 58, I still can bench 315 for 1 rep. But usually bench 225 for 6-8 reps. Sucks getting old.
I don’t want to doubt you or anything but 8% body fat at 365 is almost inhuman even at 6,5 I mean the average weight for someone that height is around 200-225 i mean how am I supposed to believe you and if you’re that weight at that height you definitely juiced up all the way but hey love your life however it makes you happy I’m not gonna judge

Andrea was my hero as a kid in the 70s ..Even in the ring he showed mercy most likely because he knew his own potential . He could easily have torn people apart but he played the part and entertained so many of us for decades. I sure love Andrea ..RIP
Andre was truly an amazing person. Saw him wrestle in Buffalo NY, when they brought him out for the match, simply amazing. He was coming down, people all around, except he stood like 3ft.above everyone. It was truly a site I was glad to have witnessed. One of those, you had to be there to believe, how big of a man Andre was. Simply amazing.
For me it shows what as great man Andre really was. 30 years after his death, he is still being talked about. And as the comments here show, he is remembered with love and respect. If we didn't have footage of him no one, I mean no one would belive he was possible. Gives me faith in human kind and how the odd one out can become a true legendary great man. Just had to say something after watching this.
Jake seems like a beloved maternal uncle of mine who sadly passed away 18-20 years ago, shortly after my maternal grandparents. Mike was AMAZING and had so many great and colorful stories to tell like Jake. I had the privilege to meet Jake several years ago at a local convention... His recovery and his personality and his incredible way about him make him one of my favorite people of all time, not just wrestler. You cannot say a bad thing about him, now. He had demons, and he had trouble conquering them and he was in a spiral of toxic behavior, as chronicled in Beyond the Mat (showed him at something akin to rock bottom, and he is not proud at all of how he was shown here) and Resurrection (SO inspiring how it turns out), but he rose above it and has become one of the most inspiring figures in wrestling and in LIFE. Thanks for posting this, and the other clips from his time on JRE. I love them.
8:54 - My God...Andre in his prime must have been unstoppable at any sport. Also, from what I've read, the pain he was in was the reason he drank so damn much. Anything to dull the hurt.
Rumor has it that in order to get through his Wrestlemania 3 main event with Hulk Hogan, the biggest match of his life, Andre drank 14 whole bottles of wine. 14 bottles. That just doesn’t seem real to us mere mortals, does it?
Great stories. I was training in Japan 1976-78. I did business there for 8 years. Wrestling was a popular and Andre was king. Japanese didn’t think he was a freak, they were conditioned to honor Sumo. I love your honest site and real conversation. Thank you brother.
This was fucking hilarious. I loved Jake the snake as a kid. Jake the snake and Rick rude. Wrestling used to be so good. Back when these guys wrestled, and I would also say it was pretty great when the undertaker would get disqualified every match for tombstoning his opponent on to a steel chair, when we had psycho Sid, Brett the Hitman heart, kane with the mask, mankind getting thrown through anything and everything, the Hardy boys with Lita, the rock, stone cold Steve Austin always beefing with the rock and Vince McMahon and when stone cold drove the beer truck down to the ring. All that shit was great. Once stone cold and the rock were out, and WWF turned into WWE it was all downhill (imo) and I fell out of it.
Chris Perciavalle Undertaker would get disqualified every single match? You must have watched different matches than I did back then. Also, you spelled Bret’s names wrong. You must be a huge fan of his huh? Idiot.
Andre the giant was larger than life during my childhood. His wrestling was awesome. He was in the princess bride. I hate to hear that people picked on him and really can't believe ANYONE would be foolish enough to throw a beer can at a guy like that. I will never forget him.
2 cases of beer is 4 and a half gallons of beer. 1 gallon of beer is 8.34 pounds. That means he drank 37.53 pounds of beer in about an hour and a half to 2 hours.
If you do the math, Andre was between 475-550 maybe? So on the high end if he weight 550 and drank 37.53lbs of beer or 4.5 gallons That equals about 6.8% of his body weight; which would be equal to 13.6lbs/1.63 gallons/ 17.39 cans of beer for a 200lbs person with no piss stops! no matter size that is impressive!

I never knew Andre was bullied so much in public. Just before watching this video a saw an interview with Hulk Hogan and also talked about how Andre often got bullied. It kind of shocked me, he was a gentle giant.
It shouldn't surprise you that ppl,out of ignorance n fear. Harassed, bullied, ridiculed & minimized a truly gentle soul. Ppl especially in Today's time 90% of the time take Kindness,Compassion,& Empathy, are a sign of weakness & said person should be put in their place. It's disgusting
Blackjack Mulligan tells a slightly different story about Andre’s “gentleness”
A lot of cunts around unfortunately

It's so great to see Jake really turn his life around and make a great comeback. After everything he suffered as a child an later achieved as a wrestler it was heartbreaking to watch his fall, which makes his comeback even more inspiring.
Jake the snake is such an amazing storyteller. I love hearing his stories.
Good story tellers are born not made
I love his voice and accent 😂
There is, however, no record of Jake ever slamming Andre. Jake also tried to say he was going to get a feud with Warrior for the WWF title in 1991, except Warrior lost that title at Royal Rumble, and the way Jake told it, this was meant ro have happened around SummerSlam, so either Jake has it badly wrong due to alcoholic amnesia or he is telling outright lies!
Yes
I would say the opposite. the stories are good. the presentation sucks.
Those idiots that messed with Andre the Giant are lucky he was the great person he was. He could have crushed those people like they didn't even exist like a fly. I have no respect for anybody that makes fun of other people for the way they were born but I have more respect for Andre than anybody in the world cuz he could have squashed them and he did not. I would have reminded them how small they really were if that was me. One more reason why Andre the Giant was such a special person I think the only thing bigger than him was his heart
BJETNT I could shoot someone with a gun any time but I choose not to.. do you respect me too?

Little over dramatic, bro. They were friendly colleagues..nothing less nothing more.
The wrestling world is very tight knit. They travel together around the country and even the world nearly 365 days out of the year. Wrestlers are more than friend; they're family, so when they lose one of their own, it's losing a family member.

Jake tells the story in such a hilarious fashion. Made my day.

Jake the snake is absolutely the greatest story teller ever I could listen to him for hours
So funny
2 cases of beer is 4 and a half gallons of beer.
1 gallon of beer is 8.34 pounds.
That means he drank 37.53 pounds of beer in about an hour and a half to 2 hours.
I understood only 2 hours, but guess it's a lot.
His organs were super sized so it was probably nothing too him.
Or rather .30 cans of beer per mile. Roughly one third of a can per mile on an 80 mile trip.
