My grandfather wrestled a little bit in New Zealand and Australia in the late 60s. After he passed away I found a picture of him wrestling and noticed he was getting choke slammed by a young Andre the Giant. Makes me proud.

I suspect that brain surgery like was in its infancy in the 70s when Andre first talked to doctors in Japan about it, and the high mortality rate is probably what kept him off the table. It is unfortunate though...but we didn't have to watch him get old and gray, which I think is better. Better to have lost him when he was still a reasonably young man than any alternative.

I never saw him live...spent years in the mid 90s getting to know Andre...he was a peaceful giant, man could've fought wars yet he chose to entertain, man had women, fame the strength and action to prove it..hell I'd tale him on and lose with honor since I lost to Andre the Giant when he was nice..if Andre hated you..he will let you know..poor Macho...Fortunately Hulk Hogan got his respect. Andre you were in my home town and they said you had beer and hot dogs...a couple of years before I was born. My late dad said he was the biggest thing the town will ever see! God bless you for coming to Carteret before I was born...thank you.

Andre the Giant earned the super heavyweight title as the Eighth Wonder of the World, he helped turned the wrestling business into a billion dollar phenomena, also, Andre the Giant is more than the largest, strongest wrestler in the world, he was the most kindhearted, gentle, honest and most beloved wrestler in the world, plus, he was a very friendly, happy, humble and a loving giant that was larger than life on planet earth, R.I.P. Andre the Giant!! P.S. I do not watch wrestling television shows anymore because of the death of Andre the Giant because he was pro wrestling and there will be only one Andre the Giant😭😭😭😭!!

The build up to wrestlemania 3 was the best
    Piper's pit kicked it off
    Contract signing was intense
Being 8 years old in 87 was brilliant

R.I.P. Andre. As a child I just thought Hogan beat you as I got older I understood why you let him win. You single handedly changed the business. We love you Andre you may be gone but you are far from forgotten.

To think that Andre started out as "Géant Ferré", a reference to a hero of french folk tales from the 100 Years War, and is now himself immortalized not only as a legend of his trade but as a modern folktale hero in his own right is a thing of beauty. Wish he could've stayed with us longer, but where he was triple the size of most of us, he also lead at least three times the life.

Hogan is meta-kayfabing here. What I mean by this: He admits that it is all a work but still pretends as if WMIII was something to worry about. If André tells you he'll sell for you, he'll do.

God I loved growing up in that era! Nostalgia wave incoming:
•WWF Toys & those weird long-armed wrestler pillows.
    •Legos.
•GiJoes & the amazingly detailed weapons, bases & Vehicles!
    •Pogs, Hockey Cards.
•Big wheels with big holes from braking.
•GTs & Plastic-saucers/sheets on the steep hills for our first broken bones.
    •Stretch-Armstrong
    •Rollerblading with Sony Cassette Walkman.
    •Model Cars, only Lvl 2 & up
    •Nintendo, SegaGenesis & Super Nintendo.
