Heard that Andre story many times, and it never ceases to be funny or completely believable. At the time of the story, Andre was lifting guys much heavier than 235 in the ring with ease.
I listened to a lex luger story about him traveling through the airport and he had a similar experience with Andre. Andre just picked him up and sat him in the cart next to him like he was nothing. Lex said he weighed like 285 or something like that.

I read the remake of The Running Man won't really be a remake. The intent is to make a film which actually follows the book. I absolutely love both the Arnold film and the Stephen King / Richard Bachman book, but they are almost nothing alike.
The "Andre" stories from PB cast & crew members are outstanding. And ya know what? In the "Final Fight" video games, the characters named "Andore" are obviously a huge nod to this behemoth of a soul. TRULY, legitimately the absolute epitome and definition of The Gentle Giant. 🙂 The world is less without his physical presence, but his memory lives on.
Even when Andre played the “Bad guy”, he was Absolutely my favorite. There was Absolutely Nobody that could beat him unless he Wanted to lose. Sadly his life was too short unlike his Stature. He’ll never be forgotten.
It's been said by a quite a few people in the wrestling business that Andre was only scared of 2 people, Harley Race and Haku (Meng, King Tonga), who are both considered to be two of the toughest legit wrestlers in the business. The 3 of them were also very good friends.
@@Ifoughtpiranhas Randy Savage was afraid of Andre because he was one of the few people Andre did not like and Andre beat the crap out of him in the ring, when they faced each other. Savage was small by wrestling standards so there was really nothing he could do about it.
Apparently, he messed with Hulk Hogan's head leading into Wrestlemania III. Hulk was concerned whether Andre would "do the job," because even with as bad a shape as Andre was in, there was no way Hulk could beat him legitimately.
I have two favorite Arnold movies: True Lies and The Running Man. Commando, however, was amazing too. Seeing him in "Commando", I wish Arnold of that time would "lift me up and put me on a shelf" too. 😇😇😋
One of Arnold's best stories was when James Cameron chewed the SHEET out of him on the set of "True Lies". Tom Arnold asked him how he put up with it; "why didn't you yell back?" "Because, Tom... he's 100% right. I was late. I messed up. I disrespected more than just him by being late, I put the entire cast & crew behind schedule. It's my fault." Must give us pause.
@MagicCarpetRideShareProject The sheer irony is that Ahhhnold isn't the writer (as he even said in this interview, which is HILARIOUS)... but he gets to SPEAK these lines. As all actors do. And over the past century... they kinda get "free credit" for those lines. Directors and writers usually do not. Believe me, as someone who's done all three (no joke)... I know. :/
I love Arnold. Growing up in the 80s and 90s, you couldn't imagine an Arnold movie coming out and not watching it. He had a couple duds, and so so many hits. Watching Arnold now givess the best kind of nostalgia
If I had to pick between Conan and any of the new Marvel movies I'd pick Conan . Even though Id agree with Oliver Stone that Conan could've and should've gotten a bigger budget to keep closer to the comic , John Milius did a great job .
Arnold has had an absolutely amazing life. Just incredible listening to his endless stories. I am always so enamored with listening to him talk about the old days.
i waited on arnold's table in 2010 when he was the guvernator. i stood next to him and i don't think he was any taller than 5' 10, but he had a big, barrel chest and his arm bones ( radius and ulna ) were bigger than i had ever seen on anyone. having that big bone structure is what enabled him to build the massive musculature. his chief of staff was a bltch and no one was allowed to talk to him, so if i was going to have any fun with him, i had to get sneaky. when he asked me for something, i responded in german that i'd be back. i know -- very corny, but what're ya gonna do ?
@@Mike___HonchoI've long suspected Arnold's height was a bit exaggerated. I saw him at the Arnold Classic in 2000, which would have made him fifty-three, and I would have pegged him at around 5'10", maybe 5'11" (I'm 5'8", and he didn't exactly tower over me). Sure, we do lose some with age, though I wonder if he really was 6'2" when they filmed Pumping Iron in 1975. Seeing him side-by-side with Lou Ferrigno, I find it hard to believe Arnold was only three inches shorter, as Lou was billed as 6'5".
He should play a corporate villain of some kind but straightforward not some comedy or action movie. That would be something different he could pull off effectively.
I actually thought the first photo showing the three men had been altered, but seeing the second one changed my mind. Imagine being able to pick up a heavyweight bodybuilder as if he were a child. I can barely pick up my wife.
Some of the movies were simply made way ahead of their time and Arnold himself was just perfect. I would watch Total Recall even today with great pleasure.
Kindergarten Cop and Twins are my favorite because they showed an action star could be funny and I feel like Arnold grew as an actor by leaps and bounds after making those movies. I pretty much like ALL his movies though.
Not talking Terminator…my faves of his are Total Recall, True Lies, The Running Man, Last Action Hero, and Eraser. Loved those movies. Glad to see the man still living well.
Picking a favorite movie of his would like asking "what's your favorite flavor?" just so many of them that are good, it really depends what you're in the mood for.
Conan the Barbarian was my favorite, yes terminator so many more but Conan was just awesome because it was definitely made for you to be like the muscle bound character
I've noticed in a lot of interviews with people who talk about Andre, his generosity is frequently mentioned. Like he always paid for meals, picked up the bar tab, stuff like that. Favorite Arnold film...I can't pick. Predator, T2, Conan, Last Action Hero, Jingle All the Way...PUT THAT COOKIE DOWN!
The giant snake in Conan the Barbarian and also the scene where a snake is used by James Earl Jones as an arrow; These images are forever etched in my memory and I saw the film 40 years ago.
Grew up in the town near where Andre the Giant had his ranch! In later years I worked for the local museum, Rankin Museum of American Heritage, and we were blessed to have a whole exhibit of Andrés stuff that was donated by Frenchie's girlfriend! Even got to sit in Andre's recliner! Also in regards to Arnold, my favorite film of his is Conan the Barbarian!
I will just say that I have loved Arnold in everything. I remember seeing Conan the Barbarian when it first came out, and I was like "Jesus! Just look at that guy!" Were some movies better than others? Of course. His acting in each movie with his thick Austrian accent, and Mr. Universe muscles played well in the Terminator and Predator. But he found a way to pull it all off while playing a nice guy, and everything in between too. Class act.
I can't even say which Arnold's movie is my favourite: Terminator, Predator, Running Man, Total Recall, True Lies, Twins, Kindergarten Cop, Eraser, Commando, Pumping Iron, Conan, Sixth Day, they were all so great! The 80s had a lot of great movies, but Arnold's movies make a huge chunk of that era, especially the second half.
For me his best movie was Conan The Barbarian. His first real hit, I believe. It was very artistically done. I loved the soundtrack. Conan the Destroyer was not in the same class. o
The heights and weights of WWE wrestlers are always ridiculously exaggerated, but seeing Andre there next to Wilt you can tell he's legitimately close to 7 feet tall.
Wilt maybe had an inch or so over Andre but look at them - Andre for sure 7 foot at that point, and definitively much more massive. Tall as a giant, built like a buff dwarf. Probably one of the strongest people ever, despite being known to never hit the gym.
Andre the Giant was a Giant to me, but I saw as a child. But what most people don't know or understand is, Andre was a "Farm Boy!" So he wasn't just strong because of his size. His parents owned a farm, Andre the Giant was a "Country Farm Boy!" So he's naturally gonna be strong asf! Juuust sayin....🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️

Look up Ken Patera talk about a drinking competition with Andre in Vegas.
@@bigbearddahuzi1036 Are you OK, André?
Arnold was very James Bond like in True Lies. Arnold had great charisma on screen
Teaming up with Tom Arnold.
Arnold being put on a shelf by Andre is too hilarious. How many can say they man handled Schwarzenegger? I'm guessing 1
2. He has a bunch of Whilt Chamberlain stories also.
@@jameswayno one was stronger than wilt or andre
Maeda beat him with leg kicks
Apparently, he messed with Hulk Hogan's head leading into Wrestlemania III. Hulk was concerned whether Andre would "do the job," because even with as bad a shape as Andre was in, there was no way Hulk could beat him legitimately.
No one could slam Andre without his blessing and ‘help’.
I love ‘the running man’ but ‘total recall’ is my favorite. With a shout to ‘true lies’.
I have two favorite Arnold movies: True Lies and The Running Man. Commando, however, was amazing too. Seeing him in "Commando", I wish Arnold of that time would "lift me up and put me on a shelf" too. 😇😇😋
True Lies is a classic! Great, Hilarious Movie...
Commando is his best movie. Pure 80s action. shame they don't make those movies anymore.
Expendables?
The governator always tried working with the greatest directors and was willing to take acting notes. It’s why he’s been so successful.
Exact opposite of Dwayne Johnson, he was in so many awful movies. But Arnold has so many classics.
One of Arnold's best stories was when James Cameron chewed the SHEET out of him on the set of "True Lies". Tom Arnold asked him how he put up with it; "why didn't you yell back?"
"Because, Tom... he's 100% right. I was late. I messed up. I disrespected more than just him by being late, I put the entire cast & crew behind schedule. It's my fault."
Must give us pause.
I loved duds too.
I read "The Running Man" when it was published as part of Stephen King's "The Bachman Books". I think I read the story before the movie came out.
Liked the book, hated the movie.
@@Steven-lb4blBecause you compared it too much with the book.
Best Andre the giant story ever!😂
Eh, Arnold not much of a storyteller. Go listen to Rick Flair on Andre's 100+ beers or my favorite; Jake the Snake.
I like this Arnold story, but listen to Ken Patera tell the drinking story in Vegas. It’s a good one.
If I had to pick between Conan and any of the new Marvel movies I'd pick Conan . Even though Id agree with Oliver Stone that Conan could've and should've gotten a bigger budget to keep closer to the comic , John Milius did a great job .
Well, Conan the Destroyer was co-written by the comic book writer, so ...
@@ryanjacobson2508 I'm referring to just the first movie .
Andre the Giant stories are the best.
Talk about an action career, also comedy from '81-'94 i never got enough. The Running Man is my favorite as well Rich.
Arnold always has the most entertaining stories to tell. Thank you for this one.
Love this clip! What great stories
Terminator 2 and Total Recall are my favorite Arnold movies.
Commando was one I liked.
Great interview, the picture of Arnold looking like a miniature person next to Andre & Wilt is WILD
Arnold, nice seeing you are eagering to do more! Looking forward to:)
Arnold has had an absolutely amazing life. Just incredible listening to his endless stories. I am always so enamored with listening to him talk about the old days.
Classic story,Wilt and Jim Brown you could argue were the two greatest athletes who ever lived.
This was a real treat to watch. A legend talking about legends. Shout out to Arnold.
TERRANCE OUT
Hilarious that I always thought of Arnold as massive until I see him with two, true giants. 😅
I know, right. I still think of Arnold as a large man. After seeing these photos. 😳
i waited on arnold's table in 2010 when he was the guvernator. i stood next to him and i don't think he was any taller than 5' 10, but he had a big, barrel chest and his arm bones ( radius and ulna ) were bigger than i had ever seen on anyone. having that big bone structure is what enabled him to build the massive musculature. his chief of staff was a bltch and no one was allowed to talk to him, so if i was going to have any fun with him, i had to get sneaky. when he asked me for something, i responded in german that i'd be back. i know -- very corny, but what're ya gonna do ?
@@legionarybooks13Arnold was 5'11 in his prime probably. You can find a lot of proof of that around. No way he was ever even 6' let alone 6'2 lol
I love Andre the Giant stories
My Mom’s favorite Ahhnold movie was Commando, because “I like that he kills the entire army by himself”
My personal favorite also😊
Commando is my favorite of his.
Arnold was very underrated as an actor.
Oh yes, underrated
He should play a corporate villain of some kind but straightforward not some comedy or action movie. That would be something different he could pull off effectively.
I'm glad that I was alive to witness Andre when I was younger. He was an amazing human being. Truly one of a kind.
I actually thought the first photo showing the three men had been altered, but seeing the second one changed my mind. Imagine being able to pick up a heavyweight bodybuilder as if he were a child. I can barely pick up my wife.
It’s been 10 hours. I’m guessing she saw this comment 9h 59 mins, ago. 😂
Everyone else picks her up.
Wilt was enormously strong as well.
@@RussCR5187 I read Wilt could bench 400 lbs. But that pales to picking up 20,000 women...
@@redeastwood4850 I guess I walked into that one, Mr. Anonymous Avatar.
So many awesome movies, thanks Arnold!
as a kid i got to meet Andre after a wrestling match and it was and still is one of the most amassing things to have ever happened for me
Picking a favorite movie of his would like asking "what's your favorite flavor?" just so many of them that are good, it really depends what you're in the mood for.
Conan the Barbarian was my favorite, yes terminator so many more but Conan was just awesome because it was definitely made for you to be like the muscle bound character
jingle all the way is still a blast
He had a hard time of finding the turbo man doll.
Whenever I buy Toma cheese I can't resist saying in Arnold's voice "it's not a Toma"
Commando! Let off some steam Bennett! That was his best film, so much fun in some of those scenes!
Wilt Chamberlain is the greatest natural athletic specimen I have ever seen.
I will just say that I have loved Arnold in everything. I remember seeing Conan the Barbarian when it first came out, and I was like "Jesus! Just look at that guy!"
Were some movies better than others? Of course. His acting in each movie with his thick Austrian accent, and Mr. Universe muscles played well in the Terminator and Predator.
But he found a way to pull it all off while playing a nice guy, and everything in between too. Class act.
Imagine if the guy who drop kicked Arnold tried to do the same to Andre or Wilt. They probably wouldn't have even noticed.
True Lies is fkn dope.
That was a very good interview with Arnold, thank you.
For me his best movie was Conan The Barbarian. His first real hit, I believe. It was very artistically done. I loved the soundtrack. Conan the Destroyer was not in the same class. o
I say True Lies was flawless
@@badafinkoify This next March it finally gets a 4k Blu-ray release! Can't wait
@@badafinkoify Really? 2 dimensional villains isn't a flaw to you?
@alphanerd7221 what u mean... True Lies was ahead of its time and predicted the Middle East conflict and Tom Arnold shined in that movie 🎬
@@badafinkoify Sure, it totally "predicted" something that had been going on for decades beforehand. The movie is awful.
One of my favorite movies is Commando
The heights and weights of WWE wrestlers are always ridiculously exaggerated, but seeing Andre there next to Wilt you can tell he's legitimately close to 7 feet tall.
Wilt maybe had an inch or so over Andre but look at them - Andre for sure 7 foot at that point, and definitively much more massive. Tall as a giant, built like a buff dwarf. Probably one of the strongest people ever, despite being known to never hit the gym.
They billed him as 7’4. he was more like 7’2 in boots in his prime. There’s an old black and white vid when he’s younger and said he’s 7’1.
He worked on a Farm growing up. That's a great way to build natural strength.
@@chriscoulthard4947 He had acromegaly, continuous HGH pumping through him.
There are so many good stories about Andre the Giant. This is just another good one. Andre the Giant simple was one of the good guys.
That Andre anecdote is the funniest thing ever.
Conan the Barbarian is easily my number one favourite film.
Wilt was 7'2 & jacked !!
My favorite Schwarzenegger movie is "Commando".
Wow! You forget the sheer amount of absolute boss films Arnold has made until lists them like that! 😱👌
I would've paid a LOT of money just to see Andre pick Arnold up and set him on a cabinet
Andre the giant was such a legend!
I just watched a clip the other day of Arnold Schwarzenegger giving a massage to Lucille Ball
Arnold and Andre stories, awesome.
What great guys.
