Hey everyone! I’m really proud of how this turned out, I think it’s my best video in some ways, and it was a lot of work! So allow me to smell my own farts for a minute and give some details:

-It would have taken weeks to make this if not for jws-library.one which has searchable video subtitles from JW dot org up to 2022.
-Sorry that was triggering. If it’s any consolation, it was for me too, and I had to watch it way more times.
This 14 minute vid took about 10 hours to edit from beginning to end, most of it in a single session. It started as a desire to simply string together all the creepy clips of GB members saying “the governing body loves you very much.” But I quickly realized I could do something I’ve wanted to try for awhile, which was to tell a story entirely through editing. I’m not saying it’s the greatest story ever told (that would be the passion of Jesus Christ our lord, of course) but not bad for a first attempt.
More than any doctrine or change, the thing that woke me up from Jehovah’s Witness indoctrination was simply seeing the leaders speak. My goal with this was to make something only using JW clips that, IMO, would make any Witness start to feel uncomfortable.
While I have nothing but love for JWs as people, this is about as close to seething anger at the governing body as I can get away with expressing on the channel. The blood issue is incredibly personal to me, and their lies about it are particularly disgusting.
Anyway, I hope you liked it. Maybe like is a strong word. I hope you think I…did a good job? lol. lmao.

When you string all these clips together the whole Orwellian language of it is so clear. They redefine truth, they redefine friends, and they redefine love. I got out 18 years ago, and it still just boggles me to see what a bunch of cartoon characters the leadership actually are. Indistinguishable now from the crass televangelists that I was so proud our austere little group once were nothing like.
All your hard work is very much appreciated Jake!!! It's unreal how much they pat themselves on the back!!! 🤔🙄🤷♀️ I think all put together like this, it's really difficult to refute how much they actually think of themselves and put themselves directly at the same level as Jehovah. And I'm an atheist, so it's not even like I take offense to it, it's just unreal! Well done!!! 👏

It was triggering indeed, yet a piece of art, if you ask me. The way it starts out on a light note, with their ridiculous and empty expressions of love... And the way it ends: on the actuality of their "love". Jake, this piece says a lot about you and how you see and present the watchtower in every video, and it says a lot about them, of course.
The idea of letting them speak on their own is so strong. And it represents so well the way we all hope our family will one day see beyond the indoctrination with their own eyes.
Truly, there is so much artistic value in these 14 minutes. I'll be going about my day with a heavier heart, but feeling seen and understood. Thank you

I didn't attend meetings, read any literature, or know any of what JWs were up to from 2011-2018. When I found the ex-JW community and really started a deeper dive, I DID NOT recognize them. I thought for sure the goofy GB videos would cause a mass Exodus! How could everyone NOT wake up, what with their blatant cult speak and Goofy Lett's asinine antics?!
When I got a load of Stephen Lett for the first time on JW Broadcasting in 2014, I really thought it was game over for the religion.

Heartbreaking, right? My father turns 66 tomorrow and my mother is 69. They got baptized in 89 when I was a kid. I faded at 24 in 2006, and our relationship is still extremely strained. My paternal grandmother died a pioneer at 83 in 2014. My maternal grandmother is Catholic, is 89, and her relationship with my mother has been strained ever since we became Witnesses. This religion tears up families. They use what Jesus said about "putting a sword" in families to justify the nonsense. SMH
My parents are also around that same age, and it seems so unlikely that they will ever come to their senses.

I remember hearing a voice recording played at a meeting when I was a kid back in the early 80s. We thought we were hearing the very voice of God. It's always been as culty - but now with their constant video presence, it's just more in your face.
i agree. i left about 40 years ago (early 80’s) and i don’t remember hearing so much about the “governing body” when i was younger. i never remember my dad or mom talking about their individual names, etc. now i hear my family using their names like they’re celebrities or something. the focus definitely seems to have shifted to those personalities…

The amount of anger I have in seeing this has surprised me. I typically will get triggered when they have an update that’s talked about on Reddit or a content creator makes a video. This video, it has me seething. I detest that organization for not only the way I was lied to but the way many whom I love are still being lied to and being lied to so well that it’s virtually impossible for them to realize it.

It's so messed up because if a person chooses to worship a higher power, I feel that should be a personal journey. It should be an intimate journey between the individual and their higher power. There shouldn't be a need for a group of old men to tell someone how to worship....

Absolutely disgusting to admit that they're not inspired or infallible, but still you can't question them? Jesus wasn't so arrogant to demand unquestioning absolute obedience, but the GB puts themselves above god. Most other religions will invite discussion and questions to strengthen faith.

The gb loves the congregation so much that when an elderly person or someone needs financial help, who actually help? It’s the congregation. Generally the Sisters have the burden of caring for the elderly. GB has billions of dollars but they never donate money to the ones in need or hire a full time caregiver that’s not connected to the jw’s.
And I’ve seen so many of those elderly end up in homes or destitute. I have also seen the elderly leave their property/real estate to this group. They are so brainwashed believing they just purchased salvation.

I’m divorcing him and I want to sell our property which is worth 1/2 million. Since he has all the money I will get the property and make a new trust. There will be not a word of Watch Tower in my new trust.

The low audio underneath most of the video was such a good choice. Gave the video a creepy/uneasy quality. Feels like the evil just under the surface of the GB.

My family is still in too, but for my sisters and my mother (my mother an elderly person and my sisters are quite old, for whom by the way the cult has been especially destructive), it would be devastating to find out that they have completely thrown away their lives, that my mother has destroyed her children's lives by getting us into the cult. I think it's better for them to die believing. The ones I feel most sorry for are my two nephews who are very young and have their lives ahead of them.

I woke up when I found myself praying for the governing body to remind strong and give me my spiritual food at the right time. I would put the governing body before myself in my prays. Then one day I said wait do they use my name in their prays and pray for me while I'm here struggling trying to make ends meet. I knew my moms had drank the kool-aid in the 70s and died in this cult, but I said I have to chart my own path and I left and never looked back.
Do not put your trust in nobles or in the sons of earthling man.

Jake, this is absolutely excellent. Seeing this all in one shot shows the rank idolatry that has overtaken the Watchtower organization. I am so glad that my wife and I were able to break free, at God’s direction, after 40+ years. It sickens me that those who are still enmeshed in this organization can’t see how they are clearly following men.

Bro it was great to highlight the pedestal that the GB puts itself upon, but it's also the first video of yours I've ever stopped prematurely and skipped to the end. I left around 2004-6 (i really don't remember the year(s) of the fade out). This made me feel actual anger in a way differeet from the academic fallacies that woke me up. They really are pulling an Acts 12:22. 20 years later and the impact is still real. In certain areas of life, I'm all good, but, still, the feelings of betrayal... hard to let that go. Apologies if "sprits" have helped me access these feels, but it's real stuff. Still, keep it up. my man. The fact that you don't have to do anything but highlight their own words is powerful as ......
Understandable, it made me angry too. I wanted to show the world why these men make us all angry.
I left in 97 and I still harbor these feelings, mostly because my elderly mom is still involved and gives them money. I'm one of the few lucky ones though, in told my parents I thought Watchtower was full of crap and they never shunned me.

everytime i ask my parents why they believer this is the truth, they always refer to the governing body. and how there’s no other men like him, how they truly try to follow what the bible says. so i hope they do a massive 180 on their doctrines so they can finally wake up. i can’t logic them out a belief they didn’t even logic themselves into.
It's crazy how many people think that. When I was a kid in the 90s and 00s, I imagined these extremely wise/spiritual/intelligent/humble men in the shadows constantly praying and studying the Bible. I remember thinking, "wait... This is... Them???" when the JW broadcast started. How can anyone watch and listen to these guys and respect any of it??
It's also funny that JWs believe that they're the only ones who have ever looked at a Bible when there are many scholars around the world who dedicate their lives to researching the Bible...

The organization didn't seem to care when my mom died. I asked them to come see her after her stroke, and they did drop by until they realized we were inactive. They then left after a few minutes. Mom passed not long after. They never bothered to call or ask how I was. Never heard from them again.

When did the symbol of life become more valuable than the value of the life it symbolizes. It is completely a non sequitur teaching, making no sense, BULLSHIT!

The way they use the word "love" is incredibly weird! The hatred for all who can expose them for being the true apostates, is all i hear whenever they utter the word! The energy, vibration or frequency of true and pure love, unconditional love, is simply not there! is it???? Happy are those with functional eyes to see and ears to hear this theatrical demonstration of what it is to be controlled by men that totally disable people from their own connection with the Almighty powerful, wise, just and loving One and Only Self-existent One! it’s wild to hear them talk about the “tithe”. i remember my dad (a devout JW until he passed) telling me that tithing was not a “scriptural principle” and that it had been done away with. he used to talk about how it was a way for “preachers in Babylon” to scam people out of their money. how times have changed…

The organization loves free labor and monetary contributions. I agree that they love their obedient members. In the 22 years of service, I never seen the GB assist any members. Assistance would come from congregation members not HQ.

I'm watching this for the second time today. So powerful. And without adding any commentary. Sickening.
I was slightly raised in this organization and went back last year for a few months. These guys popped up on the monitors in the Hall and I got an odd, creepy feeling from it. I could immediately tell what their agenda was. I still believed though so I began reading the Bible for myself and well… I no longer believe in Christianity but I do still love apostate content.
“The Governing Body is *neither inspired nor infallible.* Therefore, it can *err* in doctrinal matters or in organizational *direction.”* Watchtower February 2017 (Pg 26)
In effect, jesus also conveys Jehovah's voice to us as he directs the congregation through "the faithfull and discreet slave". (Matt 24:45) We need to take this *guidance and direction* seriously, for our everlasting life depends on our obedience.

The organisation needs money so guilt trips members into donating. A member needs money they are told to pray and rely on Jehovah. Money travels one way only, up to the top and never back down to the needy.
Man, what a tour de force. I've never been in the organization or even really met a JW IRL, but this has my stomach doing cartwheels. It's such manipulative cultish language it's gross to even listen to; feels like it's straight out of Midsommar. It wasn't some brothers. We were terrified 😨. I was praying for jehovah to save the kids at school. I knew I was going to die because I was victim of CSA from birth and it last way after paradise...I was 13 years old when it stopped... why? Because we moved to another continent.
