The first time I heard the phrase Theocratic Warfare was at a regional Elders - MS meeting in San Antonio. I was a MS at the time, and I was shocked to hear them lay it out so plainly. They did say, directly, that we may at times have to deceive the authorities or others if they didn't deserve to know it. I decided that could also apply to elders and didn't feel bad about lying on my service reports after that

I love how you have the self awareness to describe that nobody explicitly told you to lie, or that "theocratic warfare," isn't necessarily a commonly known doctrine as such, but rather a concept that is sometimes referred to by that euphemism. This precision is exactly what's needed for PIMQs. If they haven't heard of or experienced something exJWs talk about, they'll dismiss it out of hand.
Some talk about things like "theocratic warfare," like it's something we frequently go over in watchtower studies. Your approach is better. It addresses the actual nature of this teaching up front.

Lying to just anyone is bad enough, but lying in the name of God, no matter what name he is called by, is like dragging His name through the mud. What makes it worse is that some people lie under oath to a court of law. That is called perjury, and it is a serious crime. It should be punished like any other crime. That is why God hates lying, as Proverbs 6:16-19 warns us. We are all guilty of lying from time to time, and I admit I am no exception. We should all stop lying to one another. Thank you for this eye-opening video.

One example was when I was asked by people why i didn't go to college, i said i could have but i didn't want to, not true. Oh my goodness there’s so much to unpack here first of all. I just want to say that I thoroughly enjoy watching and listening to your videos every now and then when I need to remind myself just what the fuck now how did we get here 😂 because even though I’ve been out of “the truth” for close to seven years now, I find myself having breakdowns and just feeling like I’m living a broken version of what should’ve been life since both of my parents are still in.
I remember as a kid probably around seven years old, and knocking on someone’s door with my mom and while my mom preached to them and we got invited in, I was interacting with the ladies’s daughter and I remember just flat out telling her that if her family didn’t turn into Jehovah’s Witness, they were gonna die because that’s pretty much what it came down to and my little child brain and I remember the little girl crying because I was so passionate about it. I’m pretty sure the little girl like sensed the vibes and, she ran off and told her mom and I remember the lady letting my mom finish up the pitch but then just never hearing back from her again and looking back about how I feel like those of us that were raised in this similar experience and our brains just all developed similar fucked up that is😅
I was talking to my partner the other day about how I feel like it’s one of the worst feelings in the world, watching the organization deny things that perhaps we’re not written in paper but sure as fuck we’re insinuated and the way that they just played everything down sometimes the pain is so complex and surreal. I feel like , the evil is superior.

If the followers can lie to protect the organization what stops the governing body from lying to the followers to "protect" the organization? But none of that really matters because most Jehovah's witnesses attend the meetings for the sense of community. It's evident now more than ever before that doctrine means very little to the followers

I actually DID believe that only JWs would survive Armageddon and it really bothered me growing up. Every time we had a family thing with my Catholic relatives, I'd be really upset thinking about how they were not only all going to die, but I wasn't even going to be allowed to be sad about them dying because that would be like questioning Jehoprah's judgement in killing them at Armageddon. I also saw the really ghoulish behavior that a LOT, (in fairness, #NotAll), of JWs had towards WorldlyPeople™ that they regarded as irredeemable like progressives, gay people, avowed atheists, apostates, non-JW clergy, rude people at the door, etc etc. They would almost delight in the idea of these people getting their divine comeuppance. My cousin laughed at a major car crash in SF once because it was probably just a bunch of f-slurs that died, and that kind of attitude was rampant amongst JWs in my experience.

The thing about higher education is not uniform across the congs. I went to 2 that had many going to university. Several were MS’s. I also attended another where 2 MS’s were demoted because they did. And as WT is calling for doctors, techs of various kinds, I know of br’s that are getting degrees so they will be excepted to Bethel for special services. I also know a sister that is reproved because she is going to school to be one step down from a doctor. She was a pioneer and has 2 kids to support. So as the higher education mandate is not uniformly applied, perhaps this is why your JW comments vary.

Jackson saying they are elected by vote does not quite rebut the teaching that the spirit directs the choice
They would say it’s THROUGH that body that the spirit works
Which, if the spirit was doing the choosing, there is no reason it couldn’t be that process which is used
But of course you can’t prove any of that
So they get away with it
Kind of like saying Jesus returned INVISIBLY
    Can’t disprove it so…..

    • @altworldly
      @altworldly  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

Hmm I know what you’re saying, and I’m sure a JW could raise that objection, but I don’t agree. If Jesus selected members of the GB via holy spirit, there would be no need to vote. As far as I know, the GB has never so much as hinted that new members are appointed by vote-they always say they’re chosen by Holy Spirit. So either way, JWs are not being told “the whole truth”

I never amounted to anything in the organization, but i had friends who were elders.
Sometimes they would give public talks and make extremely harsh comments on the platform, (because it was in their outline from the society), and when i would ask them about it in private conversation, they always took a much softer tone. They went from being hard as stone on stage, to being soft as a pillow in one on one conversation. This bothered me. Was what they said on stage true, or was what they said in private true? It made me think that they didn't fully believe what they were teaching. What hypocrisy!

But two Israelites arrive in a city and of all the places to go stay they choose a SW home, and I'm supposed to applaud their deeds? Can we just be honest and acknowledge it was two guys who finally got to Vegas and wanted to enjoy the freedoms their camp in the desert wasn't affording them, what with all the 600 laws in Leviticus? Hi Jake, good video. Just wanted to mention a couple things. So witnesses do believe and have in print that “only baptized ones will be saved at Armageddon” meaning baptized Jdubs. That’s BEFORE and through the big A. When they say there will be a resurrection of the Righteous and UnRighteous - that is AFTER the big A. So each belief is for different periods of time. Hope that makes sense. Also you had Jade and Neeta confused I think. Just trying to help with accuracy, no hard feelings of any kind at all. All the best, keep it up!
