In 1994 when mj retired jim jackson was the one player I thought would be the next big thing, underrated talent excellent handle for a big guard post game jumper and he could run point, Jamal Mashburn was another underrated monster talent, that mavs team should have been special
As a lifelong UK fan I was looking for Dallas to make a few moves and become a good team when Mashburn was drafted but nope. Not the case lol. I thought the next one up at that time was gonna be either Penny Hardaway or Grant Hill who both were phenomenal players early on in their careers. The Magic could’ve been a legit dynasty if Shaq wasn’t such a glory whore😂 with him, Penny, Nick Anderson, Scott Skiles, Horace Grant and a few good role players and that team would’ve been a problem in the east
@@wildcat8598 shaq leaving Orlando was one of the biggest gambles ever, that magic team was literally magic, fun to watch, penny was healthy, d Scott threes with Horace who couldn't miss midrange jumpers, sheesh what a team that was, but his gamble worked and him and kobe made history
Jimmy Jackson was one of my favorite players during his high school college and early NBA career.... He had the skill set and athleticism to be one of the top shooting guards for the history of the NBA until the injuries hit him.
I remember he held out on his Dallas contract in 1993 because the Lakers were looking to trade for him. Jackson was looked at as a Mitch Richmond in 1993 but he never reached his potential. JR Isiah Rider was the same.
Those early years were a perfect time to be a kid in Dallas falling in deep with basketball. The triple J's were fun and the tickets were cheap. My pops used to buy the nosebleeds for the low. The arena would be so empty they'd ask people to move down to the lower sections 😂
This channel is amazing. I’m a big NBA nerd and randomly think about all the random players from the past. That JJJ Dallas team was something. Tell me they don’t at least get to a conference finals. I’m from Tulsa Oklahoma home of Wayman Tisdale! You should do a video on his career.
Jim should have been a stud! Scoring crazy averages with a good 3-pointer come on dawg! All of these guys had incredible talent and sadly most of them had massive ego problems. FPP! Please consider trying to get an interview with these former players to really what went right and what went wrong and what they do with their lives after the NBA. I think that'll be an amazing life lesson for humanity
Do Kerry Kittles! Would've won Big East Player of the Year literally any other years, except in his days he was in the same conference as Allen Iverson and Ray Allen
I found myself loudly saying "DAMN!" throughout this report. From his horrible team records to being on 4 teams in 2 years to just... ALL OF IT. He was such a talented player. It's like his career was cursed. "DAMN!" Damn good report tho💪🏾
He had beautiful shooting form and great touch around the rim. His first step was really nice. He had all the tools, but probably too much success too soon by being such a star in high school. It seems like he never really handled the mental side of that success very well.
Yeah he didn’t really have the greatest shooting form but was one hell of a player. It’s a shame how many young Men who get these God given gifts and don’t make the most of it. Then again I mean he was in the NBA for years and made millions of followers doing it so I guess it was exactly squandered 😂
Why did Phoenix suddenly stop playing him at all? It seemed like he had a role there and you didn't really get into why he went from a solid bench role to 24 straight DNPs. Great channel, I could watch this stuff all day.
I became a Mavs fan when they had the triple J’s. J Jackson J Mashburn and J Kidd were pretty fun to watch but they could never seem to put it all together as a team. It seem like only one could shine at a time.
I subbed the heck out of this channel. I remember as a kid having his relatively valuable rookie card and he wasn't even playing. I had no idea who he was. Always seemed so weird to me.
I would like to see 1 of these on Calbert Cheaney. I never understood why he was not a more used player. He still is the all time leading scorer in the Big 10.
Selfishness and a one dimensional mentality is why Jackson played on 13 teams. He didn't just feud with Kidd, he feuded with Mashburn too. If you're a scorer and you can't play with J. KIdd, something is wrong with you.
It's a damn shame that the first thing I think of when I hear Jim Jackson is the Toni Braxton incident. His reputation had been tainted by a popstar... the sheen irony.
Hello. Respect to your video. I'm not sure if you've done this or if this is your avenue but I have a suggestion. How about Becky Hammond, Sebastian Telfair, Charlie Villanueva, Mike James to name a few. Just a suggestion.
I member reading that the days leading up to Jackson signing the contract , owner Donald Carter was flying him around the country in his private jet during the negotiations. Jackson, Dennis Hopson, Chuck Person, Chris Morris, lots of high number 1 picks that era where just ok to good.
@@lilpenny1982 So true, but, those dreams of no cut contracts, load manage, signing bonuses, endorsement deals, shoe contracts,etc,etc,..more and more players chose to leave college for-BIG-pay days. Some college players needed the money tho, their families were hurting fiancially. Some college players said they were breaking into other college students dorm rooms for things of value. I don't think NBA and NFL fans realize how wonderful this channel is. Do you realize how many players this man can do?

I remember Jim and Jason and Jamal was supposed to be the original trio aka Heatles lol
No they werent and Miami wasnt the first or only big 3 they didnt even start that term yall just ONLY KNOW LEBRON’s NBA
They shoulda been
This man been on numerous teams. He must know what damn near all the locker rooms are like.
Except the bubble
Jimmy Jackson… I forgot his 6 man role … true journey man respect
Yahoo! Been waiting for this one! He was like very very underrated

Kenny Anderson Corey Maggette Antonio McDyess I mean the list goes on and on. Just an awesome channel

Damn good report tho💪🏾
I let out an audible “HM” when I heard the Mavs were 4-50
BRUH..... 😂😂😂😂😂😂 This statement. BEYOND relatable. Me too, G..
The background music and the calm tone of the narrator makes these videos a great choice for a relaxing watch
He had beautiful shooting form and great touch around the rim. His first step was really nice. He had all the tools, but probably too much success too soon by being such a star in high school. It seems like he never really handled the mental side of that success very well.
Shooting form was not beautiful. Shot had a weird spin off his fingers which is why his jumper was so inconsistent
Yeah he didn’t really have the greatest shooting form but was one hell of a player. It’s a shame how many young Men who get these God given gifts and don’t make the most of it. Thank-You!! JJ is one of my fave players and there were so many highlights I had not seen.
Fam, spent the first 90 seconds FRYING dude, lol. How can I not finish this! 🤣🤣
Love the content forreal bro 👏🏾
Jim Jackson wow!!!!
He was a shooter fr
Jimmy was not a shooter
Thank you for making this video. I always wondered why this trio didnt work out and why everyone got (traded).
He was so good all teams wanted him

Dope channel this... I had to sub.
Jim had some arms 💪🏾 for a shooting guard.
Unbelievable video as always my guy!!!
Jim Jackson, aka the Immaculate Grid legend.
I became a Mavs fan when they had the triple J’s. J Jackson J Mashburn and J Kidd were pretty fun to watch but they could never seem to put it all together as a team. It seem like only one could shine at a time.
I subbed the heck out of this channel.

This whole time I thought Jackson was out with an injury majority of his rookie. He really held out for 54 games.
54 games-DANG !!! And still got the contract/money he wanted-boss moves. LOL.
Jim Jackson was giving dudes that work in college
To this day, it still puzzles me to see how relatively little success this JJJ Dallas team of the early 90's had. They had a legit big 3
In 99 there were only 50 games so he played almost the entire year at 49 games
Awesome channel 👌
As a Mavs fan the whole triple J era is a big what if for me. (Also Roy Tarpley, but that would be a depressing video)
Definitely agree with Dallas trading him but Kidd and Mashburn should have stayed
J j was pretty solid during his prime years
We Need Dat Elton Brand Vid 👀💯
I would like to see 1 of these on Calbert Cheaney. I never understood why he was not a more used player. He still is the all time leading scorer in the Big 10.
Too slow in the league and not enough motor
I just posted a similar comment above ;)
There’s a channel called Stunted Growth. Just did one on Calbert

Jason kidd was a problem as a youngster. Kidd thought he was jordan .
I’d like to see a video on JR Rider. Juwan Howard, Sam Perkins, Joe Smith and Dennis Scott
Another banger
Great channel.
It's a damn shame that the first thing I think of when I hear Jim Jackson is the Toni Braxton incident. His reputation had been tainted by a popstar... the sheen irony.
I don't think the expectations for JJ were too high at all. He really was that guy
Great video as usual...but Nelly didn't trade Kidd. he was hired after the Kidd trade.
I just remember that Jimmy Jackson had a pimple on his forehead for about four years.
