    Finally someone who doesn't suggest to just do past papers :)) I know they're effective but I barely get anything right because I haven't revised. And when I do start revising the content everyone makes me feel like I'm doing something wrong and that I should be solving questions 24/7 lol

      Honestly you can always look through past papers just to see what comes up and what you don’t know (without spending 2 hours on a single paper) and then do exam questions and use mark schemes to see where you can pick up easy marks💪

    • @unravel9716
      @unravel9716 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@starplatinum6879 Yep that's also a great tip and it's what I've been doing recently. I have an ict theory mock exam today and knowing well that I won't be able to go through the entire material all I did to prepare was look through past papers and the mark scheme to see the type of answers and structure they want them in. I feel like seeing the type of questions that come in before is definitely gonna help better studying and fill in the gaps for the questions I found to be tricky

  • @jpal151

    I feel like people at this stage should do past papers under timed conditions- identify mistakes- make solution sheet and understand it and use spaced repetition- if you have done this properly then for all the past papers you should be getting 90-100%- this will allow you to answer common exam questions in the real exam . Now attempt predicted papers if possible and keep going over your solution sheets for each subject. This will be the most optimum way to revise at this stage and ensure you get top grades

    I got 7s 8s and some 9s in my mocks in December and I wanted to turn my 7s into 8s if possible and get more 9s, but in January i had a back operation and so I've missed lots of school obviously, and I'm going to be in school full time only after this easter holiday is over . im so scared, GCSE’s are already here and it’s so mad. i started revising in January so im not stuck in the mud at the moment, but im still revisiting topics in maths eg that i don’t understand completely. sciences at this point im just focused on practice questions on each topic and blurting on my whiteboard. English is the only problem right now.

    • @StudywithAb1
      @StudywithAb1  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Don’t worry you got this, as you said you started revising in January so you already know what you’re doing. Even though it feels like you aren’t prepared enough, you will know a lot more then you think (speaking from experience) and you will be able to smash your exams in sha Allah. In terms of English lang, I would recommend looking at TH-cam channels for specific advice on how to structure answer for each question + practise analysis of random extracts for language, structure and form. And then for English lit, look at grade 9 analysis of characters and themes and then again practise answering questions on it

    Hello! I was pleasantly surprised to see that the techniques in this video are basically what I am already doing :D
    Anyways, as someone aiming for straight 9s, I was wondering if you'd have any tips for English Language and Literature? I'll learn quotes as best as I can, but in terms of essay writing, our class is incredibly behind. We haven't written any essays on the 19th century novel, only 1 on the modern text, and no poetry essays. I have written some in my free time but my teacher hasn't marked them because she says she's too busy and I doubt she'll be able to mark my essays in the future, so I can't be entirely sure if my essays are of grade 9 quality or not. Do you have any suggestions?

      i do edexcel and in my mock i got a 9 in both language and literature (95% in lang, 97% in lit) my biggest advice would be to always talk about the reader reaction. it builds on your analysis and allows you to go into greater detail. on the topic of greater detail, always analyse/link back or forwards to another quote further on in texts where your studied theme/character appears in, and analyse whether there have been developments, lack of change or regression to the character. if it is a theme, link out to a moment in your text where a similar/different idea is shared. for poetry, always talk about how one quote can have two different meanings etc.

    thank you so much!!! I’m trying to do what i can even though i’m scared. so basically on my November mocks i got a grade 1 in maths, 3 in English language and literature, 2 in science, a U in geography (0), a 3 in religious studies, a 4 in art and a 2 in Spanish. but on my February mocks i got a 2 in maths, 3 in English language but 2 in English literature, 2 in science, 1 in geography, 3 in religious studies, 3 in art and 3 in Spanish. I’m worried before the real gcses and what will happen if i fail so i need extra support. when i try to plan my time i end up taking long so do you know better ways i can revise for all those subjects?! if you do, thanks!

    • @StudywithAb1
      @StudywithAb1  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      No worries at all 😁 I would say that if you struggle with time management then just have a basic timetable, it doesn’t have to be detailed etc. for me personally using revision timetable never worked, I just made a plan of which subject I struggle with and did a few hours on that and then circled around my jobs (if that makes sense) in terms of how you can revise for maths, I would say maths genie is your best friend. Look through the sections for grade 1-5, watch the walkthrough and do the questions. For English you need to use revision videos to help aid you to learn structures for questions. For religious studies, get yourself a cgp guide for that as it’s got everything you need. If you’re aiming to just pass all your subjects then I truly believe you can do it and there’s need to be worried at all. You’ve still got one month to grind out these subjects and you’re only really looking to go up 2 grades so it’s very doable. Also if you need extra support, I would suggest depending on your financial state to hire a tutor for only one month or go revision classes that your school is hosting. For me personally revision classes helped me jump up grades

      @@StudywithAb1 thank you. I go to my school sixth form during the holidays for all these subjects before our real gcses but tbh the time went so quick when we had to finish. I use maths genie but i dont have a printer to print out the questions. I’m worried bc since i failed my mocks my mom told my sister it’s gonna be hard for me to get a job because they care about your gcse grades to get a job. I use Pearson online but i can’t seem to find aqa geography because that’s my exam board. i only see geography A and B edexcel. For RS my teacher already gave us the CGP books but i end up taking too long and i don’t have enough time to finish it off because i have to move on to the next subject. And for extra support i’m not sure where do find a tutor so they can help me before my real gcses.

      Hi,
      Thank you soo much for your comment :)
      I completely understand what position you are in, in terms of being new to the country and having to sit external exams. First of all, I believe its very possible but you have to act fast, smart and hard, you will need to go through all the spec points for science (use external notes such as PMT - Physicsandmathstutor.com - read through it, make a note of anything you cant grasp and watch a video on it) - then I would recommend going through past paper questions on every topic - new / old etc doesnt matter as long as you practise recalling / applying info. This will help you get on the path to 8s and 9s in sha Allah
      I hope that helps and I genuinely believe in you!
