Hdzero keeps the best things from analog like the latency and the predictable breakup and takes the better resolution and pictute quality of the digital link.

Ive been Flying DJI since I started flying and I wanted to try a system that works better with tiny woops. HDzero does everything except DJI and with this redesign of the freestyle VTX I can't wait to try it ...Just got my goggles in the mail.

All good points, HDZero is my “go to” because of the consistent feel & resolution, and honestly the static. Yea the static isn’t pretty but it’s a great visual indicator when flying risky spots.
I’m about to release a video which demonstrates why I prefer HDZero for high risks flights tomorrow hopefully.
Working on a new 5” build for this V2 VTX, excited to try 90fps, I’ve actually never flown it! Cheers bud!
I always look forward to watching your videos. Static is a really contentious topic for people - especially ones who haven't flown analog. Agreed - it is excellent feedback about how sketchy an environment is
@@RyanQuellet yea coming from analog makes it easier to accept. I’ve heard people say: “you can just watch the Mbps number”… and I’m thinking: “I can’t focus on a tiny number while blasting down a canyon wall or doing some other risky maneuvers.”
But maybe I’m old school, everyone is buying electric cars and I just bought a 6-speed manual transmission, diesel, SUV. Haha!
That 90-540 feels like I'm sitting right behind the glass! It's something that I did not even really conceive, until I experienced. 'Feels like I'm right behind the glass' is something I would not have thought of saying, until I flew it. But that is exactly what it feels like.
@@Inertia888 yea really excited to try it. I turned down one of the original versions because there was limited quantity and I wanted racers to have it first. But now I’m 100% ready to try this out! Building a fast 5” 6s quad as we speak!

I like HDZERO for the same reasons. I fly to film watersports and winter sports and I need immediate feedback that I'm losing visual. Losing DJI or WS link is pretty much a lost quad and lost footage on these environments, hdzero let's me punch out and regain visual if needed, and I can save it way before losing link. Also does way, way better on detailed ground (water) textures at range. DJI/WS losing water textures means I can't safely fly close to water when chasing subjects... can't tell how high I am when it's a smear of color.

I need to take out a second mortage, going to need a handful of these ^_^. But seriously folks, all those o3 micros and minis coming out, HD0 1w ^_^. This will be an amazing upgrade for my Racer-X Twig, already running the Whoop lite and 90 cam. It's my go to, and soon it'll have 1w. Can't help to keep saying HD0 just keeps getting better, and better, and... You folks are doing amazing things. So glad to have picked HD0. Cheers!
I got that same 3 inch frame!!! Got brotherhobby 1507s on it but it doesn't have the thrust I was wanting. Can't wait to get the goggles and have 90fps!!!!
I left dji and went to hdz then back to dji because of penetration. Now I’ve went to walksnail for the middle ground. I can say flying hdz is special. I’ve always considered coming back at a later time. 90fps is just too fun

Is there something I have to do as far as FW update to get the 720p 60 mode on the Nano90 camera? I have a freestyle V2 with the Nano 90 camera and that option is not in my camera settings? Thanks
Niiice. Been using hdzero on my racers but my freestyle quads were still analog. This vtx will change that. 💸😂

Pre ordered 2, and I'm not that patient lol. Now we need a micro90 with dual mounting on each side, and fully cased. Racers have their nano, now we need a micro.
Did the image processing change on that new VTX? It kinda feels more natural and less blown up - not sure if that's just the 90fps cam or the vtx tho.
And I agree with the blurred ground... it drives me mental on DJI - even analog delivers more consistency around trees, grass and wood ways. Also boy you got good at flying!
For BetaFPV Cetus Pro with an HDZero woulde now a day.

does this have better rf shielding for the gps? not sure if you talked about it, i might have missed it. my v1 freestyle vtx is absolutely destroying my sats, i can never get a lock, even after shielding the wires and moving the gps away from the vtx. not sure if you have any suggestions about that

is there any issue with overheating?
Ryan, I'm pretty sure that Carl says it compresses the color. I think the color is 1 color pixel for every 4 pixels of reported resolution. Maybe this has changed, but I doubt it.
Hard to talk and fly at the same time - what I mean is the video dynamic range and shadows are not heavily compressed in order to reduce encoder details like other systems. It is consistent and more or less raw
Where can I get replacement hdzero antennas. Like you, I need something that fits my TPU prints. Also need nano to micro adapters.

The hdzero antenna that ships with the freestyle kit? I don't think it is sold separately - I'd recommend a TrueRC u.fl antenna as a replacement. There is a nano to micro adapter in the box and a 3d print option for apex frames in the video description

I have purchased two Nano 90s so far and both needed the focus adjusted. Anyone else experience this?
For nano 90 I typically upgrade the lens to RC18D right away. For this review, I didn't change the lens or focus it. When focusing a lens, go outside and point the camera at the tree line in the distance, otherwise it will be front focused
The dozen cameras I have touched out of the box have been hand tight, which is great. You can easily set your focus, or if you are like me, immediately swap the lens to something actually usable.
Just from my group of friends people have focus points from 3-20’, if it’s pre-set at a point from the factory, half the people won’t like it 😜 I think it’s best to leave it to the individual.
I hate the companies that seal or glue the lens from the factory, it’s always terrible for me, and just makes me have to do a bunch of work to fix it.
Print a focus chart (I recommend the single large alternating black and white lines going to a central point type chart), set lens focus at different distances and find what you like for your requirements and flying style.

What motors do you have on the 3" Apex?
Looks like the, Emax ECO 1407, I would personally run a 1506/1507/1606 with a 3mm internal shaft… but that’s just because of my crashing style.
The difference to me between HDZero and wifi-camera-on-steroids systems is hard to describe in a way that people "get". But the point about the grass brings up a big point about how it's different to fly, for my flying.
It changes where I LOOK. When I'm flying close to the ground, if I'm on DJI video, I'm looking into the middle distance, to where the grass ENDS, to judge my height - the grass in the foreground is just mush. The grass is green, but contains no useful information to help me fly. On HDZero, I'm actually looking at the grass in the foreground. I can fly lower, and it's helped me get better throttle and pitch coordination.
On HDZero, I feel like everything is "live" enough, that I'm connected enough, that I can disarm AS I land. On DJI, I disarm TO land. It's a small but important difference in how it feels to fly.

I prefer the latency of hdz over the better picture of the walksnail. I dont have a DJI to compare.
This should be v1 freestyle vtx from the very beginning. With this much more people would buy HDZero from the very beginning. Better late then never 😅 although I will not change my v1 which I have on my Nazgul because nobody will want it even for free 😅😜 I will keep fly with mine to it's end. Nevertheless I'm very happy about this. Now we need to have much better cameras. Nano 90 for me in compare to Micro V2 is worse. Too much noise when it's dark. I love Micro and Nano v2s cheers

I have hdzero goggle with true rc antenna kit but i have a better penetration with my scout HDZERO...why😢
Turn radio transmit power down. At or below 250mW. The goggle is more sensitive to local interference than scouthd

HDZ has made some fantastic additions to their platform, Kudos to Carl and the gang! Now PLEASE make a more analog centric goggle for the v2.
Is it correct that the 1w mode will only work on a prohibited channel in many countries in Europe... R1?? So we have to break 2 laws, not just 1 here in Europe to fly it at 1w!? I'm comfortable with flying at 1w... But flying on a channel that the police and military use, well, I can't do that!
Oh OK... I had that idea due to watching BotGrinder's review. He didn't explain it, that the output power just diminishes slightly as you go up the band, as with most vTX's. I watched Chris Rosser's video to throw the light on that. Panic averted. 😅
O3 fits in the same...please bring valid comparisons and leave the hysterics to the other 30 minute commercial makers on here.

Exactly. I use the other systems primarily for „cinematic“ flying but prefer HDZero for freestyle.
