Hey! We matched up on Ancestry 😮 It says we are second cousins! Thanks for teaching me how to make khao piak! If you’re ever visiting Tennessee, you’ve got family here 😊
After watching your video, I’ve decided to do a DNA test too. Surprisingly all my life I thought I was 25% Cambodian and 75% Lao. But the DNA results revealed much more. I’m 33% Lao, 25% Cambodian, 22% Vietnamese , and 20% Dai. No wonder Lao people always think I’m Korean? Lol
Thanks for sharing this video, going back to 7:31 (a percentage of Vietnam), ya'll ladies ancestor might be coming from the KIngdom of Champa. Which has been known as Vietnam (DaiViet) after the country lost it's war in 1800's. The French had colonize that country before Vietnam became a country. If your ancestry shows French and Vietnamese, I am assuming your ancestry might be from the Kingdom of Champa.
Download your DNA and upload to wegene. It's made for asians. It's more accurate. Laos, thai, vietnamese the borders change over centuries of war. Cambodian and champa too. Tai or people of Yunnan is where us lao is from. They have similar words
I am lao too I never knew much about my fathers ancestry we just knew he was from Laos it says im lao and half Vietnamese and my family told me my family was viets from Laos I was shook I was always told im lao and thai
@@KinKhaoWithUs yes my Vietnamese family was only in Laos due to the French colonial era, I’ve met other Vietnamese families from Laos too before coming to america after the Laos war
Awesome video and DNA results, you both look great! Me and my brother done Ancestry DNA. We're half Korean, 5/16 Scottish and English mix, 3/16 German, with some Swiss. My results are: 45% Korea & Northern China 26% England, Wales & Northwestern Europe 16% Ireland & Scotland 8% Germanic Europe 5% Japan My brother results are: 48% Korea & Northern China 21% England, Wales & Northwest Europe 19% Ireland Scotland 10% Germanic Europe 2% Japan
I took the 23 and Me test. I identify as Lao and Thai. However, my DNA results show that I am 42% Vietnamese, 38% "highly matched" -Lao and "likely matched" - Thai, 12% Chinese and 8% Uzbek. 🤷♀️ . 😄
Aaron Chanh Vilayphone we used “ancestry” , this one only tells you your ethnicity. If you are also looking for genetic traits / predispositions I have heard good things about “23 and me” as well ! Good luck 💕
This is so cool!!! I'd love for my sister and I to do this too since we're half lao/half white and 9 years apart. Same parents but we don't look too much alike.
I’m Tai Dam. And most Tai immigrated to Iowa, specially the Des Moines area. We have the most Tai in the US. It’s so cool to know you guys are Khone Tai too.
I'm going to try my aunt say we are thai isan my grandma says no but my grandfather is thai. People always think my mom is some type of Jamaican or Caribbean but she says she just black from Louisiana 😆 I think there's some type of Caribbean In her too.
@@KinKhaoWithUs i will let yall know once it's done, a friend of mine bought me this kit a year ago im just finally using it, i was iffy at first cuz i don't have much kin that i know of, so that's why but i wanna know my background and see if i can find other family members
Most Lao are mix Chinese or Viet but we don't write anything down or acknowledge it to their childrens! It's not popular to do so. If we go back far enough, we're from you know where.... Africa!
Kin Khao With Us ok. All my children were born here, and they are all grown up now. But, they are able to read and write in Lao. Please start somewhere.
