thanks for your videos ; people have said that albino ( albino full gold , albino supper red.........) have stronger prominence colors ( more shiny , more glitter .....) than not albino ???? and i think it is true ??? thanks if reply
Hey Jorge great info and guppy genetics really takes time to learn and master. Especially if your going for certain traits as most breeders are. But it is really fun and rewarding at the same time. You certainly have some interesting breeding ahead of you.
Hi, can I ask why is my Albino guppy frys unable to grow as big as you and those aquariums I see. I could do so for normal guppies but not albino. And they always die before I can even get a 2nd gen.
I'm very curious about that divider, since guppies can usually swim through that size a hole... care to talk about how its made? I imagine I'm not seeing the entire thing.
I got a albino guppy from 2 normal coloured guppy’s. Both half black male and female. She did definitely albino as she is almost yellow and see through and the rest are dark brown
I've done this before. The mixes are completely random and eventually they just revert to looking like feeder/wild type guppies since those genes are usually more dominant.
+Home Aquatics hi i was wondering if you could do a vid on the sunset micarif guppy.ive looked everywhere and nobody shows how to make one i think it would help alot of people who want one.thanks so much
How true do these exotic strains from guppy train breed? Chris wouldn't guarantee that the offspring would be like the parents, he said because they're hybrids. I thought if you buy a pure strain of a hybrid it will breed true.
Sorry if I wrong. Albino blue topaz has Asian Blau genes, it could work homozygous and heterozygous which means on heterozygous it only affects red pigment and not for yellow (xanthophores), thus yellow pigment may appear on any part of their body, usually around head and the area between tail and belly (hard for me to say what it is).
Most guppy breeder including myself have seen that in-breeding begins to have a negative effect at about the third generation although the effects may not be noticeable until further generations. The furthest I ever take in-breeding is 4 generations and then have to out cross. Line breeding is a better technique which attempts to avoid this damage while still maintaining the desirable traits. It involves maintaining separate lines of the same phenotype (appearance) that are unrelated to one another. After a few generations fish from separate lines are crossed together to maintain genetic diversity. One of the common mistakes allot of breeders make in line breeding is by using lines that are too closely related to one another.
You start by keeping the fry from a couple females separate, so that they form two distinct lines. Since you cannot mix batches, this takes more tanks. It is best to choose breeders differently for each line, for instance, in one line, you may pursue a large flowing fins, and with the other, you may concentrate on body form. The purpose is to help maintain your established strain, since each line becomes distinct and more distantly related.

Do you still breed guppies? I'd like to see the update to these I looked but don't see one plz make new videos 👍👍

Thanks Glen, It really is fun and rewarding. The more knowledge I can acquire the better.

same to me ; albino is hard to keep , they are die very easy .......
This is a great topic . I add random fry from other strains into my bin to try to keep inbreeding low within my guppy ponds .
That's a great technique, works very well if you don't care about keeping pure strains.
+Home Aquatics yep . I like to make new traits I've never seen before
Michael Eugenio That's awesome man, I enjoy doing that also. Mixing strains a very good way to do that.
How do you get the recessive gene in the first place with normal guppies?
mutation

I have a similar setup with out filter will that work for me?
how long do your albino guppies live
thanks for this info sir

Do you have any full red albino guppies for breeding for sale? Trio preferred.
My favorite!
Thank you!
can u plss next Genetic fins like Dorsal caudal Pectorial etc. but i want tobe more focus about dorsal talk plss?
Good job and info
Thanks dude!
I've always wondered what it'd be like crossing fancy guppies with feeder/wild type guppies.
I've done this before. The mixes are completely random and eventually they just revert to looking like feeder/wild type guppies since those genes are usually more dominant.
Cool, I really like how feeder/wild guppies look! (At least the males)
i have a quetion can i put 5 platies and 2 dwarf gourami in 10 gallon tank 😊
Great video, I would be intersted in viewing the articles you have if you wouldnt mind sharing them with me?
Send me an email to homeaquaticshobby@gmail.com and I'll send you a few.
Email sent......Thanks very much :)
DW_Aquatics Sweet! I'll check it out!
good job! very impressive!
Thanks man!
Koi Guppies are looking good.
Thanks man!

Guppie Guy I have no idea how to do that but I'll look into it!
+Home Aquatics ok thank and thanks so much for replying!

how many guppys do you have?
Good question. Including the superior red born the other day and the guppies in the ponds I have around 30 or more.
good job on tanks
Thanks man!
My Albino Blue Topaz has yellow colors in his tail. Can anyone explain?

I wonder how the fry are going to turn out
Me too! It's always interesting watching that part.
I have a problem! My male guppies aren't interested in my females. How can I get my males to mate with my females?
Oh gosh inbred fish 😂😂😂😂 this is really informative and interesting indeed I enjoyed it 🤗 I look forward to see how this progresses for you 🤗🤗
Thank you! I hope it works out lol
for how much generations do you think you can inbred before having to put different genetics?

+Glen Hawkins (GuppyGuy) how do you line breed ?
+Alex Cordovez i would like to breed a certain type of live bearer and then keep them going like a colony hich breeding technique fo you use ?
You start by keeping the fry from a couple females separate, so that they form two distinct lines. Since you cannot mix batches, this takes more tanks. I have used both techniques actually.
