YOU REALLY SHOULD DO A DEEPER DIVE! Girl's Generation haven't disbanded- they're just inactive. They last came back in 2018, and each of their solo music is amazing. Girl's Generation was the Nation's Girl Group before Twice. They're Kpop legends who broke so many barriers, and really helped pave the way. They haven't lost relevance and are still regarded as legends. I recently got into Girl's Generation- and trust me- you're missing out big time. I can tell you'll like this group a lot, man. I guarantee it.
While SNSD didn't OFFICIALLY disband, Jessica was kicked out of the group, 3 have solo careers and the other 5 went into acting and other projects. There's no chance SNSD will ever get back together as a group. Especially since Taeyeon and Tiffany's solo careers have been pretty successful, albeit in different countries.

Girls’ Generation is proclaimed as the Nation’s Girl Group by the South Korean Government itself, they literally created that title compared to other groups who were labeled just in tv shows. It literally has a seal. tv shows claimed and label TWICE to be the new holder but it was never really confirmed. GG were the the only girl group who has been on the official South Korean travel guide made by the gov itself with the title (aside from other Nation’s ____ title) and the only group who has the only South Korean stamp. There is a difference between proclaimed and claimed/labeled.

SNSD [girls generation] paved the way for all of these current girl groups now. Yes, they are still together but is currently doing their own solo work but they always come together to hang out. We are waiting for another comeback from them.

Hold up! Biiitch! My moment to shine has come haha I'm so glad you're reacting to them. Girl's Generation is the group that got me into Kpop and is still my ultimate bias group. I could rant forever but I'll give some quick facts and if you do keep reacting to them later on I'll give more facts as we go along (no pressure though, it's fine if you don't). 1. I cannot stress how popular this song "Gee" was/is. Honestly, it's surprising to me since it's not a song I would actually think is a major bop by my personal preference but dude.. it was huge. It was actually named the Kpop song of the century and just about everyone knows it and its choreo. To this day I don't think any other song has come close to the impact of the song. 2. Taeyeon, the leader and main vocalist, has an amazing voice and if you lose interest in Girl's Generation I recommend checking out her solo music. Considered one of the best Kpop vocalists she also has a pretty different music genre than her group and no joke, her songs are so good.. and sad lol she is known for putting so much soul into her songs and portraying emotions so well. "Sings like a woman that's been divorced 7 times" was a description of her voice that stuck lol 3. Their debut song "Into the New World" is considered an anthem for many movements (including the movement that led to the impeachment of the last president) but most interestingly, it is also the song considered to have the hardest choreo for girl groups. I'm not a dancer so honestly no idea if it still is and if anyone wants to contend this go for it but supposedly trainees practice this choreo to hone their skills. My understanding is that the choreo is very detailed in asking for different movements from the dancers from different body parts at the same time and that's what makes it so hard. 4. I'm gonna try and remain unbiased when I say this but yes, there are 8 members officially left in the group. One was kicked out a few years ago in what I consider to still be the biggest mystery in Kpop. The fandom seems to not like to talk about it. It is an ugly stain in their history and I understand why some would lose interest in them for it.. but it happened so addressing it is okay.. that being said, yes there are 5 members left in the original company and 3 who left for other companies BUT they have reiterated that they are still all part of Girl's Generation and plan to make more music together. The five that stayed have already debuted as a subunit. Also, not to get ahead of myself but as of today us fans are a little excited since there's some hints of a comeback by the subunit or group as whole.. we'll see how it all plays out but I hope so. 5. As many have said, they are legends. They are considered Kpop royalty. Honestly, just about every group has covered their songs at some point. From BTS to Twice. You even see Mina and some other members dancing to one of their songs on the More and More specials you reacted to.. which brings me to my last point.. 6. I don't know if whether conscious or subconscious but Twice does reflect Girl's Generation a lot. Not just from the same number of members but also same song concepts. I'll be brutally honest, some Sone (the fandom of Girl's Generation) dislike Twice because Twice has taken the title of the Nation's Girl Group from Girl's Generation. If you see comments spewing hate or making spiteful comparisons while reacting to them don't let it get to ya. I personally do think Twice are the new nation's girl group. It's fitting they carry the torch as they have earned it and that's a major feat so kudos to them. Anyway, sorry for rambling but I'm hella excited you at least gave them a shot. One video is enough.

Before BTS and BP, Gee probably got more international people into Kpop then any other song. One nickname for GG is "The Wall" because no other girl group can ever hope to rise higher. Girls Generation is the Great Wall NOBODY can surpass! There is no 1st or 2nd or 3rd generation NGG, Girls Generation are the one and ONLY Nations Girl Group! It’s not the fans choice, it’s the Nations choice, as they were given that title by all of South Korea! They have not disbanded and only one member, Jessica, left the group in 2014. They have been on a much needed hiatus since 2017 since they have been carrying the Kpop industry on their backs for 10 years! They have been focusing on their solo and acting careers for now but are still extremely active! Tiffany, SooYoung and Seoyeon didn’t renew their contracts with SM to acting and Tiffany came back home to the US after being away for years! This song made Girls Generation became the first girl group in the nation to have the longest top charting song on music charts for 9 weeks straight (it was damn impressive because this feat was only achieved by boy groups before GG). From trendsetting the colorful skinny jeans fashion to the dance and everything, everyone from their grandma to their dogs were jamming to this song everywhere back then. Heck, this song even appeared on Korean news. This was THE SONG that defined the standards for girl groups. It was the first ever Kpop song I've ever heard in my life and I would never ever forget that moment.

Girl’s Generation is my first everything Kpop, Gee was the first kpop song I ever bought. Love those girls! Take your time getting to know them, you’re gonna love it. Many of the members are still active in music, Taeyeon is one of the best vocalists I’ve ever seen, Hyoyeon is the main dancer and has a new song coming up and Tiffany Young has created many fantastic English tracks recently.
this song is SUPER popular, its almost like the girl group anthem. This is like THE song to know if you're a girl group member. Girls' Generation was the Twice of their era of Kpop, and many of them are still active today either in music, acting, or other things. Sadly, as a group, they haven't done anything together as a group in a good long while. They claim they aren't disbanded, but they might as well be.

I go wayy back to 1st gen and missed all these 2nd gen groups so I'm glad you're doing the Throwback Thursday series so I can catch up with you. And "Gee" is fire!
Hold up! Biiitch! My moment to shine has come haha I'm so glad you're reacting to them. Girl's Generation is the group that got me into Kpop and is still my ultimate bias group. I could rant forever but I'll give some quick facts and if you do keep reacting to them later on I'll give more facts as we go along (no pressure though, it's fine if you don't).
1. I cannot stress how popular this song "Gee" was/is. Honestly, it's surprising to me since it's not a song I would actually think is a major bop by my personal preference but dude.. it was huge. It was actually named the Kpop song of the century and just about everyone knows it and its choreo. To this day I don't think any other song has come close to the impact of the song.
2. Taeyeon, the leader and main vocalist, has an amazing voice and if you lose interest in Girl's Generation I recommend checking out her solo music. Considered one of the best Kpop vocalists she also has a pretty different music genre than her group and no joke, her songs are so good.. and sad lol she is known for putting so much soul into her songs and portraying emotions so well. "Sings like a woman that's been divorced 7 times" was a description of her voice that stuck lol
3. Their debut song "Into the New World" is considered an anthem for many movements (including the movement that led to the impeachment of the last president) but most interestingly, it is also the song considered to have the hardest choreo for girl groups. I'm not a dancer so honestly no idea if it still is and if anyone wants to contend this go for it but supposedly trainees practice this choreo to hone their skills. My understanding is that the choreo is very detailed in asking for different movements from the dancers from different body parts at the same time and that's what makes it so hard.
4. I'm gonna try and remain unbiased when I say this but yes, there are 8 members officially left in the group. One was kicked out a few years ago in what I consider to still be the biggest mystery in Kpop. The fandom seems to not like to talk about it. It is an ugly stain in their history and I understand why some would lose interest in them for it.. but it happened so addressing it is okay.. that being said, yes there are 5 members left in the original company and 3 who left for other companies BUT they have reiterated that they are still all part of Girl's Generation and plan to make more music together. The five that stayed have already debuted as a subunit. Also, not to get ahead of myself but as of today us fans are a little excited since there's some hints of a comeback by the subunit or group as whole.. we'll see how it all plays out but I hope so.
5. As many have said, they are legends. They are considered Kpop royalty. Honestly, just about every group has covered their songs at some point. From BTS to Twice. You even see Mina and some other members dancing to one of their songs on the More and More specials you reacted to.. which brings me to my last point..
6. I don't know if whether conscious or subconscious but Twice does reflect Girl's Generation a lot. Not just from the same number of members but also same song concepts. I'll be brutally honest, some Sone (the fandom of Girl's Generation) dislike Twice because Twice has taken the title of the Nation's Girl Group from Girl's Generation. If you see comments spewing hate or making spiteful comparisons while reacting to them don't let it get to ya. I personally do think Twice are the new nation's girl group. It's fitting they carry the torch as they have earned it and that's a major feat so kudos to them. Anyway, sorry for rambling but I'm hella excited you at least gave them a shot. One video is enough.

Girls Generation (SNSD) was the 2nd Gen Nation's Girl Group.
This is the song where they got it big.
SNSD/GG is a whole universe unto themselves. Their impact, longevity, popularity, solos and sub units, variety, drama, CFs can never be duplicated. Before BTS and BP, Gee probably got more international people into Kpop then any other song. One nickname for GG is "The Wall" because no other girl group can ever hope to rise higher. You could do a reaction channel with just GG and not run out of material for a long long time. Their leader is Taeyeon who is also one of Kpops top solo vocalists.

Girls Generation is the Great Wall NOBODY can surpass! There is no 1st or 2nd or 3rd generation NGG, Girls Generation are the one and ONLY Nations Girl Group! It’s not the fans choice, it’s the Nations choice, as they were given that title by all of South Korea! They have not disbanded and only one member, Jessica, left the group in 2014. They have been on a much needed hiatus since 2017 since they have been carrying the Kpop industry on their backs for 10 years! They have been focusing on their solo and acting careers for now but are still extremely active! Tiffany, SooYoung and Seoyeon didn’t renew their contracts with SM to acting and Tiffany came back home to the US after being away for years! They’re taking time for themselves and even while OT8 is on hiatus they still are in the top rankings for girl groups! OT8 in our eyes, OT9 in our hearts!!! 💗👑🥰 🇰🇷
