"Gee" was released in 2009 -- 2 years after debut -- and it has a pretty simple story. How I interpreter it is the girls are mannequins in a clothing store that come to life after store hours when no one is watching. Kind of like if you have ever seen the 1980s movie called "Mannequin". They all have a crush on the handsome young store manager, who is played by Minho from SHINee. The girls are tired of being trapped in the store and one night they decide to escape. Minho comes back in the morning and discovers that the mannequins are missing, but I guess he isn't too concerned because he is employee of the month and he is on cloud nine because the girls all kissed his picture. There is no deep story there, it's exactly what you see. :D
On a side note: SHINee is SNSD's little brother group and they debuted a year after Girls' Generation. As label mates they often are featured in each others' MVs. As you have seen, Minho is in Girls Generation's "Gee" MV and Jessica, a member of SNSD, was in SHINee's "Sherlock (Clue & Note)" MV.
"Gee" is one of SNSD's most famous songs and it is probably one of the most well known Kpop girl group songs of all time. If you ask anyone around the world if they know any Kpop songs, at least one of the songs they will mention, and probably do the dance too, is "Gee." It is so well known that pretty much every group in the industry, both girl groups and boy groups, know this song and dance and probably have even done a cover performance at least once in their career. If you have ever seen boy groups doing girl group dances, then I am sure you have seen them dance to "Gee." It's pretty much the go to song.

Gee is one of those earworms that just get stuck in your head for weeks. The lyrics aren't gonna win any awards but the melody is just so upbeat and catchy with the Gee x 5. Taeyeon did not like this song and concept when she first heard it. Turns out to be one of their, nay... kpop's, biggest hit.
Pre 2010 SNSD was pretty legendary for their infectious dance moves as well... It's one of those things where kpop fans turns trainees turn idols basically knows the dance moves to into the new world, Gee, genie, oh!, etc.

Absolutely legendary. Love the smooth R&B melody, turned up with a dancier beat. So many hooks and point dances, but I think my favorite that is maybe underappreciated is the cymbal crash punctuated by the double point outward.
While we’re looking at 2nd gen groups, EXID is doing a 10th anniversary comeback on the 29th, and Kara is doing a 15th anniversary one in November, so maybe go back and check out more of their catalogs?
    For EXID:
    * “DDD” for a bit of Missy Elliott vibes
    * “Night Rather than Day” for chill city-pop vibes
    * “Up and Down” for sax and lots of quirky stuff to talk about. Also, the song behind arguably the most influential fan-cam in the history of k-pop
    For Kara:
First off, I’m pretty sure y’all did something of theirs, but it’s not coming up in search; did it get blocked?
    * “Mister” progenitor of the “butt dance”
    * “Step” one of the all-time most iconic 2nd gen songs (and the one I’m pretty sure y’all did before)
    * “Mamma Mia” big hair, big bass licks, shoulders with attitude

Please react to SMTOWN Summer Vacation. It's an MV that was originally released in 2002 and re-mastered and re-released by SM Ent. this year. It has lots of old-school kpop groups and idols like Shinwa, S.E.S., Shinvi, Boa, and many others.

09 was enjoying my first year as a kpopper. Gee was my first Snsd comeback. Too bad back then didn't understand the impact of a comeback then. Just happy to have more music.

Try their You Think, its severely underrated cause people in Korea boxed them with this image that the darker ones tend to be overlooked..
