Girls Generation is basically the blueprint for girl groups, even Blackpink was supposed to have 9 members. Girls Generation's debut song (Into The New World) was literally sung at protests and this song (Gee) basically began the craze for the cute concept. They were LEGENDARY and without them or 2ne1 a lot of girl groups wouldn't even exist today.
As someone who has been listening to kpop since 2005, I couldn't agree more! :) SNSD is trully a legendary group.
Facts
I will say tho, what a producer once said. Whenever you listen to a song you can immediately tell it's from Girls' Generation, EXO, 2ne1, or one of the vanguard groups. Nowadays must groups just try to replicate them and don't innovate.

So all the Girls' Generation members have successful individual careers too. They are that group were every member was (and still is) popular. They paved the way for girl groups to dominate. Before them a girl group didn't stand a chance of out selling a boy group. SNSD changed that.
Tiffany - has launched a solo career in both Korea and America. Her stuff is fire. She is also currently active in a the Chicago stage play in Korea and she is going to be a mentor woth Sunmi on Girls Planet 999.
Hyoyeon - she literally is the dancing queen. She broke the stereotype that female idols could only dance a certain way and she is very well respected. She has solo songs and is also a successful DJ as well going under the title DJ Hyo.
Sooyoung, Yuri, Yoona, and Seohyun have all released solo music and are all pursuing successful acting careers in movies and kdramas as well.
Sunny - she is the member I know the least about when it comes to what shr is up to unfortunately.
Jessica - she launched her own fashion brand and is very successfully managing her company. She has released solo music too and she recently wrote a young adult fiction book.
Taeyeon - I need not say much about her you guys have seen her versatility and power. She is having a comeback in July.
Let me put GG into context. They have consistently remained within the top 15 girl group brand rankings even though they haven't released anything since 2018. SNSD is called the Nations girl group for good reason.
That is not to say other girl groups like 2ne1 were not responsible for paving the way as well.

OMG SNSD! I've been a sone since this era. This song is sooo iconic. Looong before Blackpink and BTS took over the world, SNSD were the queens and at the top of the game! :) Now they are currently on hiatus and focus on their individual activities. Can't blame them, they've been in the industry for over 14 years. :) They are trully a legend of the 2nd kpop generation. Some BTS members once mentioned in an interview that the first album they bought was SNSD's Gee. lol. Please continue reacting to them. You can check out SNSD's I Got A Boy (another iconic song), Twinkle by SNSD TTS (their subunit consists of Taeyeon-Tiffany-Seohyun), and Lion Heart. I miss them sooo much. :)

Every single girl.... All 9 of them have very successful individual careers. They cover a wide spectrum of the entertainment world whether be Singing, acting, musical theater, MC, Variety shows, DJ, Radio Personal, etc.. They are all household names. Taeyeon is mostly active in the music scene unlike the others. But if you want their solo music career check out the other 3 who're active... Tiffany Young and Jessica Jung are both soloists in the USA. Then Hyoyeon/HYO is promoting in Korea. The maknae line are all successful actress Yuri, Sooyoung, Yoona and Seohyun. Then we have Sunny who's a successful musical actress, radio personal and Variety Queen. All the vocal line have been in at least one musical.
Back when this song was released it was a dance craze in East Asia and Southeast Asia

K-Pop fans in year 2006-2007 thinks that SM Entertainment newly girl group-Girls' Generation will be flop for having a large number of members. They think that having more than five members in one group is a mistake because it can outshine the other members.
Fourteen years later after the successful debut of the girl group they think will be flop, the nine girls are shining individually on their chosen career as an actress, soloist, author, CEO, DJ, model, MC, musical actress, theatre actress and variety show host.
Take note, Girls' Generation is the first k-pop girl group in the history to debut with large number of members. And yes, they set standard.
Girls generation, 2ne1 and Wondergirls were the Queens of their generation.
They literally have done so much concept and as you can see they were e blue print for a lot of soft/cute girl groups tonight
its so funny you mentioned SHINEE while Minho is literally on the video. I was so proud of you guys when you found out at the end. LOL Also, this is where the famous "Listen boy. My first love story." line came from. I enjoyed this alot. They also had alot of ballads. I really like "star star star" and the ballad rendition they did for their debut song "into the new world". I still listen to both from time to time.

In terms of making music, you can say "taeyon" is the biggest and one of the most succesful solist in South Korea, but in terms of popularity I would say Yoona is still the most popular, even before their debut days she helped a lot in making Girls Generation (SNSD) known through her individual activities and until now with numerous endorsements, movies and kdramas.
If you guys can checked out what the girls were up to now, youll be surprised how legendary they are not just as a group. 😊

Fun facts : They are only girl group that every Korean knows all the members name not just their group name and all of them are still popular in South Korea not only Taeyeon but most of the girls are doing their acting career right now only Taeyeon who still doing the Album. They are not disbanding, they still together but doing their own things.

They make girl group became popular today, in 2007 when they was debuted. Korean people are really hated girl group they anti them so hard. Most of the girl group at the time has disbanded but in 2009 SNSD make the girl group famous again, in 2009 many girl group was debuted after that, so that's why many girl group nowadays are respected them so much
- Into The New World (2007, debuted song) became National anthem and every girl group/trainees no matter what Labels you belongs you should know how to dance and sing this song.

Taeyeon is indeed very big in the music industry nowadays but the other members are pretty big as she is as well. Only in different fields.
Currently, 4 members are focused on their acting career and sones are expecting atleast 2(either movie or kdrama) for each member. All the others have their own solo music too and Tiffany is currently a cast of 'Chicago' the musical in korea.
We're all very busy trying to keep up with all the individual peojects that they have. 🤣
