Hey, first, thank you for your videos :) A short tip: have you heard about the possibillity to convert FSTL 2 into a CGM? I can just recommend this solution. Look here for more: github.com/TinoKossmann/LibreLink-xDrip-Patch (you might have to scroll down a littlebit)
Hi Tom! I am very happy I found your videos! Incredible achievement what you did! My question is how do you manage to be around HbA1c of 6 without too many hypos? After years and quite some changes in my habits and with lots of efforts I have also good values now but I have too many hypos...I know is very complex and many factors need to be considered but...in your case what you reco? Super thanks I will be following from now💪👍
Carla Pujolràs Thank you so much for your super kind feedback. Check out the video I made about time in range and prebolusing. Might be helpful! All the best!
Cheers for this, I been tryin to find out about "what is a healthy blood sugar level for a woman?" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Ever heard of - Anebriel Foundational Ascendancy - (search on google ) ? It is a great exclusive product for discovering how to reverse type 2 diabetes minus the hard work. Ive heard some great things about it and my mate got cool results with it.
My a1c was 12.8 less than 1 year ago . I changed everything . I walk up to 10.5 miles a day , 6 days a week now . I changed my diet to 2 meals of sprouts a day out of 3 meals . I quit smoking . I watch what I eat carefully . my a1c results today was 4.7 . I have lost enough that you could call it a whole person .
@@shakuntalachindi1701 , was on medication and shots for about 3 months in the beginning . Then , went to just metformin until the 4.7 test . Now , no medications. I am still testing daily and I am staying low .
This man speaks wise words, my a1c went from 8.5 to 5.4 in 3 months and lost 40lbs doing just half of what this video recommends. Diabetes is Futher Mucker, but whoever reads this, Your not alone in this. You can do this. All it takes is self motivation, dedication, moderation. And you'll get through this. I wish all improving health on all who read this on their travels through life.
@@younissheikh2824 no I don’t need medication… I did some random test last year in November and my fasting was 7.2 so I thought that I got diabetes… so I thought of doing hba1c … and it was 5.2 … my doctor cleared off me that I don’t have diabetes 😊
Good information especially with setting realistic goals. I have been a type 1 for 40 years. I have had many ups and downs dealing with it as I want to live as "Normal" a life as anyone else and have found that I can as long as I remember what my Doctor told me when this journey began. MODERATION is the key! Eat wisely, exercise daily and check your blood levels often. For years I kept my a1c between 7-8 and ever since I got a CGM I have been a steady a1c 6. Not bad for a guy in his mid 60's. I look at diabetes as a CHALLENGE instead of a disability. With the help of my Wife, who is my greatest support, We try to stay ahead of it everyday!
I love your attitude and positivity my friend! Thank you so much for your kind words and supporting the others! Wishing you and your wife a great weekend!
I was super strick with my diet for 38 years. When I got my insulin pump life was so much easier and more fun. When I hear people say low carb I just roll my eyes. I eat mostly carbs, good and bad. You just have to know how to use your insulin pump. My HgbA1C just went from 6.1 to 5.9 using Libre2. I guess if you can't control you blood sugars using your pump then low carb will work.
Eating just twice a day in a six hour window has also really helped me lower A1C. And it is so much easier to do and stick to than i had ever imagined. Good luck to everyone!
Good for you, young man. At age 64, I have been on this journey for a few months now and feel 200% healthier already. But, I want to encourage all young people out there to begin this lifestyle while you are young and can protect your body and mind from the stress caused by poor diet decisions. (I would love to see the junk food thrown out of our markets; it is a tragedy what it is doing to the general health of the present generations.) I love to see you educating yourselves as well as others creating a support group to maintain your health.
I'm 35 and 3 years ago I was diagnosed me as type 1, my A1c is 6.3 my tips are 1) gym as daily routine, I'm not a gym guy but it has changed my diabetic career, without the gym I would still piss my self thanks you for being honest here :) as well talking about the gym I mean go there and do your best don't lie your self, if you really don't like it, just don't stay at gym too long get sweat and go home :) 2) I'm completely agreed with all that you said about the food however following point 1 you don't have to be even so strict about the food, Mc Donald, KFC sometimes is ok but I would take more insulin before the meal (make sure you control your sugar levels in the right way Free style, MM ) 3) technology like Free Style, MM, watch displaying your sugar level and everything what keep your sugar under control and help you to understand and manage your lifestyle in the right way 4) if you like to have a drink sometimes, don't drink without the pillow I mean have a meal before, avoid beer, cyder any sweet alcohols, I would go for nice dry wine or whisky or vodka mixed with lemon and water remember to keep eye on your sugar 5) be positive and keep smile on your face because you can be even better than most of your friends just doing right things :) I know all this stuff it's easy to say not that easy to implement in real life but believe me following this tips one day you can forget about your problems :))
If you want to keep your blood sugar low , lose weight with going to the gym or going to the gym without killing your self keep your carbohydrates 150 per day eat 3 meals believe me try it I like to combine gym and cycling work
Keto and not drinking alcohol have brought my pre-diabetes down to 5.4%. I am 69 years old and have a family history of diabetes! Good luck with your health!
I started on the freestyle libre last week. I have always had dawn phenomenon issues, but my biggest issue now is it takes like 5-6 hours for my humalog to bring my blood sugar back down to a normal level in the morning. I am not on a pump so I can't schedule a bolus/higher basal rate for the late night/early morning. Thinking about splitting my long lasting insulin shot (toujeo) between morning and night as I usually take it in the morning, or switching to taking it at night. I am always in the 8's for my a1c and really want to get it at least in the 7's next doctor visit. Didn't realize how much up and down my blood sugar goes through until getting libre.
I was diagnosed Prediabetic last year Sept.2021 .6.1 HbA1C, so I took an action seriously by doing Low Carb Intermittent Fasting in 4 mths time I reduced 6kilos in 4mths and Jan.2022 I took again HbA1C test it go done to 5.9
Wow. Well done. Im type 2 and i got mine down from 120 to 54 in 9 months by low carb and walking. I never expected it to go down by half. I still have a way to go but I'm hopeful. Thank you for the vidoe.
im so glad to read your post. I was just diagnosed with Type 2, 3 weeks ago. My A1C was 12........Ive been walking daily (also trying to do alittle light jogging but we wont talk about how out of shape I am but its a start) but reading that you just walking and low carb eating has drastically changed your a1c helps me be confident im on the right track.
Awesome reduction in 1AC levels especially being type I. I took mine from 9.68% to 5.4%, but I'm a type II. I basically did the same thing with my diet that you did.
I believe in the “balls out” approach. Write down everything you’re eating that spikes your blood sugar, then totally eliminate them from your diet. I had already eliminated most bread from my diet, except for on occasion when dining out. I’ve now eliminated it entirely, after my A1c went over 6.5. I eliminated tortilla chips, white rice, sweet potatoes (I had already given up white potatoes- sweet potatoes aren’t much better). I gave up drinks that contained sugar (I gave up sugary sodas many years ago), all items with “added sugar,” desserts which I ate very infrequently and even those little sugary breath mints they hand out when you leave restaurants. I already exercised almost daily, but I am now trying to lift more and build more muscle, plus lose 50 more pounds . It’s working. I’m down about 10 pounds from when I was first diagnosed.
I was. A 13 in July and now I am at a 7.0 !!! All I did was cut sodas out completely and add the gym. And I eat baked foods more than anything. I also drink zeros if I do crave a soda. I have surgery in 4 weeks 🤪
Thanks for talking about this. Whether you are Type 1 or 2, or you are not just a helpless victim of your diabetes and you can always try a lot of different strategies to lower your A1c. Everyone can work on something and make incremental changes that will make you less dependent on insulin or stay off it if you're lucky. I wish more doctors would make suggestions on the lifestyle aspect. And dump that ADA diet guaranteed to leave you sick, but that's a whole other story... First and foremost, you will improve your insulin resistance with enough sleep and better quality sleep. This is even true for non-diabetics struggling to lose weight. You can lower your blood sugar a lot (and your blood pressure!) just by walking 15-30 minutes after every meal. And this is something I struggle a lot with, but exercise and/or diet enough to get your body fat in the ideal range. I've lost over 1/3 of my body weight before (from 185 to 124 lb), simply by walking alone, no other exercise. I am still struggling to enjoy any other exercise enough to do it regularly but I'm trying to get into more muscle-building exercise as that would help me to keep the weight off better (my weight has drifted back up some and I'm trying to lose again). And of course by diet. I have tried a lot of different diets, but what seems to work for me in the long term is moderate low carb (like aiming for around 70g/day), eating 2 meals per day, no snacks, with intermittent fasting. I try to mostly eat foods that would fit into Paleo but I do sometimes eat other less healthy things. I generally eat within a 8 hour window, and then I have Non-24 circadian rhythm disorder so my day is 27-36 hours long generally, giving me a lot of hours with no food. I am a Type 2 diabetic whose sugar is almost never low, only high. No insulin. I've been diabetic for over 20 years. I have gotten my A1c to 6 before but it's been drifting up along with my weight. If I can keep my weight near or within the ideal range, and stick to the healthy diet and walking then my A1c will stay around 7 or below, but I have found it challenging not to backslide on carbs. I have a great love for noodles in particular. Really low carb (30g/day or less) triggers my depression, unfortunately. But I will sometimes try to do a keto week here and there. Or a week with more extreme fasting.
I haven't been tested for my a1c levels lately (I'm a type 2) but I know now that stress, especially emotional stress, pushes me out of reversal. That's when I need to take medication again and pay attention to what I eat and do. I usually eat low carb and go for walks, but when I am too busy to cook and go to parties, where I don't have low carb options, it gets worse. Not eating enough is as bad as eating the wrong foods. There are ways to eat carbs, so that they don't spike you and I'm learning about that now.
I am 66 last 15 years my hba1c with type two diabetic slowly increased from 5.5 to 7.5.before three months.now i am on intermediate fasting and on low carb food hba2c is 6.2 weight reduced from 75 to 71.5,kg.great thanks
Substitute Metformin for berberine, reduce my carbs, intermediate fasting, ACV, cinnamon, curcumin, raw garlic. When I do have a high carb meal, I prepare 1/2 cup of water add 1/3 spoon of baking soda and squeeze 1/2 of lime (mix with 1/2 cup of water) and drink it. This will reduce the inflammation in my system. I did this and in a short time I got to reduce my A1C from 6.7 to 6.2👍
I think CGM is the key. Without it, tight control is a pipe dream even with intense effort. But once you know your glucose minute by minute, even the most ambitious goals are attainable depending only on the amount of effort you’re willing to expend.
The only thing that helped my Type 2 was very low carb diet. Was off all insulin within a month. It’s sad, but I think Type 2 is another way of saying you’re allergic to sugar.
You have to take the insulin replace of tablet Know I am also take low carb diet just 20 days I started Alhamdulillah I am also replace of my insulin to table form inshaihallha
hello I'm from India 23 years old I reversed my hba1c from 10% to 7.1% by weight training, swimming, cycling, dieting and MMA training in just 4weeks my target is to get 4.8 already stopped eating sugar and bad stuff. Non smoker non drinker With positive attitude & great control over my mind. My question is if I continue this till my last breath is there any chance of complications?
Great advice. I am also a type 1 diabetic I changed everything,I changed my diet, I exercise, I use guclonize If you want to keep your blood sugar low you should try this!
My personal tips: Wait before meal - inject some time (may be different by every person) before eating. Have a good night - try to get good levels during the night Reduce meals - no meals = no fluctuations and easier to control (keep eating at least 2 times a day) use pump - much more opportunities, especially the basal change and squared bolus use cgm - and set alarm to catch highs soon enough (and learn from your trend) use diy loop - to get even more good levels without big waivers.
Great tips! Thank you very much for sharing! I haven’t tried looping (yet)... Are you looping? And if so how is that working for you? Any potential drawbacks?
@@TypeOneTalks THank you too for sharing your tips :) I'm currently not looping (at least not closed looping), but I'll try in about half a year. I have alredy tested the AndroidAPS App in open loop mode and informed myself about loop - here is my current knowledge. Pros: -(Talking about DIY-Loop) There's a huge community that will help you -DIY Loop Apps are very stable - I didn't heard about people getting into serious problems -The big advantage about looping is, that it manages your diabetes in situation you can't or don't want to like sleeping, watching movies, during work etc.. As far as I heard, loop is managing those stuff amazing (depends on the quality of your Settings and factors). -Less lows and more time in range because of the auto basal management -It can handle 1 and maybe even 2 carb units without going out of range without manually insulin injection -> good for low carb people -With nightscout (wich is part of the DIY Loop scene), you'll have a great analysis tool Cons: -Loop isn't a perfect Pancreas - It's mainly thought for the Basal management. You still have to adjust manually when you do sports, eat a bigger meal or stuff like that. -You need a CGM system (or FGM - CGM solution like MiaoMiao..) -Commercial Loops aren't that good as DIY solutions, because of legal restrictions (they're more defensive) -You need to build and set up all by yourself (There are good docs and a lot of people that are willing to help you online) -> This isn't a big problem, it's not that hard -You have to know and test all your factors pretty good (ISF, BR, CR, DIA) -You will need to take your phone with you - if not, your pancreas isn't there. Same with the battery. -For proper work, you should type in every bigger activity and treatment.
Thank you for such detailed info. I wish you all the best with looping when you start! I myself haven’t found the courage to go all in on this but I’ve been hearing very positive feedback. I hope this is the future of the commercial systems too and it is just a matter of time. Take care and keep in touch!
@@TypeOneTalks I'm now on AndroidAPS (loop) for about 1 month - and I'm totally excited about it. It really helps keeping your blood sugar stable - especial during periods of slow changes (during the night, while driving or watching a movie). My A1C definetiely dropped with androidaps and I can sleep within range (4-8mmols) without getting disturbed once a night wich is the biggest pro, I experienced. A second nice to have is, I can get into my bed with high values and AndroidAPS will bring them down.
I have got a very good tip for reducing HBA1C quickly: Do not sit after eating. Always move a bit and when you feel the food is properly downed, only then get back to work or bed/TV. You will feel much better within a few days. Also lower consuming foods with high GI (glycemic index). i.e. foods with fast acting simple sugars. Like sugar itself, the refined stuff, soft drinks, juices, bakery items, fried items, frozen foods, fast food etc. They are now a poison for your body. Please take this statement seriously, because the sugar sticks to blood for up to 90 days (3 months), until the cells destroy themselves and form new ones. So only after a constant 3-4 month avoidance, you will get noticeable improvement in your HBA1c test result. Otherwise say goodbye to improving it. I mean it takes strict diet control to lower HBA1C, it just keeps pushing UP if you will not take immediate steps, it's like a landslide that keeps falling and cannot be stopped once it takes off - MEANS - your body has given up and it has very little room to have the junk (your kidneys or liver or pancreas or all of them has something seriously damaged to them inside and they are just gonna FAIL SOON if steps are not immediately taken). So - only 1 soft drink per week is the limit.
Moving after a meal is great advice. A brisk walk. Some push ups or star jumps. Raise the heart rate! Absolutely! Helps the insulin work more effectively.
@@jezzab01 Yes. I have 2 adjustments actually making my belly shrink and improving HBA1c very quickly. I am doing a lot research on this and will eventually also write a detailed book or video on this: In short, You just have to take these 2 things: 1: One before the meal 2: One after the meal 1. One before the meal - Water You have to drink at least 1 glass of water 5-10 minutes before taking a meal. Even if it's a tea time snacks, take at least half glass water. Water greatly helps the gut digest the food and not make it in to fat. 2. One after the meal - 2 Min walk. That's it! And you are perfectly fine. GOD Bless :)
When I walk after meals for 20-30 min it brings down post parandial spike but as soon as I stop moving I notice rebounded spike . Only way I can keep spike at low level is if I keep on walking for hour or hour and a half after meals .
Thanks alot Tom.God bless you for sharing your personal experienced.I really appreciate it..I am conscious healthy living person..i want to lower down my hbA1c ..
Believe it or not, 600mg of Alpha Lipoic Acid daily keeps my morning glucose down by about 20 points that if I don't take it. Also, adding resistant starch to my morning smoothies helps keep AM glucose lower the next day.
My A1c used to be 5.6-6.0% ~1 year after my diagnosis. However I realised that I ate alot of "toxic" carbs lately that would explain why my A1c went to 6.3(and probably higher now) great video I'll try to reduce the toxic carbs thanks!
@@ariellola8472 I think toxic carbs are things with high glycaemic index (they cause a big rise in blood sugar) like "heavy carbs" such as bread, rice, pasta etc.
Just wonderful, I've been looking for "can you eat blueberries if you have diabetes?" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Ever heard of - Anebriel Foundational Ascendancy - (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now ) ? It is a great exclusive guide for discovering how to reverse type 2 diabetes without the headache. Ive heard some interesting things about it and my friend got cool results with it.
By following the eating instructions that you've given me and all the other good hacks and stuff I got my a1c from 7.4 down to 5.5, Yahoo, awesome, thank you very much Tom this is a success story and this is only taken me maybe 2 months to get my self well-controlled eating right and following the hacks as suggestions, thank you very much Tom again.
This is a very interesting video. I am considering to try his recommendations. I am currently monitoring my heart health since diabetes can damage organs more than we notice. AIC also varies insignificantly over the past 2 years. This is the reason why I do my researches to help my body cope with my illness. Also, gluconize has helped me a lot with my type 2 diabetes. It varies regarding your physical condition that makes the treatment a customized one based on my health issues. You can try it also and let us continue our battle with this illness strongly.
Tip: I get a bag of raisins. I'm not massively keen on raisins. so if I'm absolutely desperate for a sweet finisher after a meal, especially sardines which I eat a lot, but can "repeat" - then I am allowed to eat raisins. As I don't care for raisins much I never eat more than 3. My big problem with sugar is once I start, I open the flood gates - this keeps those floodgates firmly closed.
I love your videos. Great advice. I am also a type 1 diabetic and I struggle with keeping my BG' S Steady and in the normal range. I also have food allergies which I think contributes to my high BG Numbers. I am now keeping a food journal writing down everything I eat at mealtimes and healthy snacks, and recording how my body responds by checking BG levels before and after meals. That gives me a better picture of whats going on. I am also going to be asking my endo doctor to run blood work on my levels for enzymes, amino acids, vitamin and mineral levels as well. I discovered that plays a huge roll in how healthy your body is or is not in order to have and keep normal blood sugars.
Guys i hope everyone is doing great .i am a type 1 diabetic .im 30 now and discovered it when i was 12. Years passed by and i down know why and how i can and kniw its hard and kniw its possible but theres too much down specially .. its seems to be a bad review but i telling my experience as a diabetic ..now im losing my vision day by days.trying to save them but for my left eyes its too late... i jjst hope i can get a better a1c in the future
The device is called FreeStyle Libre. I have lots of videos where I talk more about it. Please check them out. You should be able to get it online or in your pharmacy. Good luck!
You need a prescription in the US. And type 1s probably have an easier time getting one. As a well controlled type 2, I've been denied a prescription. Staying well c ontrolled is not easy.
I've got from I think a constant 9%-10% ish to 6.3% for me it was 100 percent due to the community both offline and online ... meeting other type ones allowed me to learn and understand how this works and what I can actually do about it no doctor could have managed to help me with this at all ... It really changed everything. I learned about diabetes about technology about food and about myself by seeing people I could relate to and their individual coping mechanisms .
Good job for getting your A1c level lower. Sounds like junk food was a problem for you when you were younger. I've got the same problem and when I don't indulge in junk food my blood glucose will be lower. Also portion control is important. Thanks for the tips.
Yes. I tried. Cauliflower rice is great! Couragetti is not my favorite but another great idea that others might like! Thank you for sharing! Stay safe, wishing you all the best!
Another excellent video! July 2019 my A1C was 10.5%. I was prescribed Metformin and insulin and was told to follow a strict low carb diet. I’ll admit it was hard to stick to and I fell off the wagon at times but I also started walking more frequently. I absolutely hate exercising but walking was easy to accomplish just by parking further away from buildings, taking the stairs versus the elevator and eventually walking to stores in my small town instead of driving. I even took my kids with me on occasion and those walks turned into our special talk time for whichever child accompanied me (I have four kids). In six months my A1C dropped to 5.5. I was able to stop insulin and earlier this year my Metformin dose was cut in half. I still need to do better, as the pandemic has caused shortages in food staples and my diet is not the best being at home constantly. And being home also impacted my exercise routine. I would love to see tips on how to do low impact exercises during the pandemic. Please keep up the excellent videos. You are such an inspiration Tom. Just a ray of sunshine that we all need. ❤️
Thank you so so much! You always write such kind comments! Congratulations - you have done an amazing job with your HbA1c and reducing your medication. Well done! Thanks a lot for sharing your experience and a tip for a future video!
I'm diabetes type 2 6.9 a1c lost over 20 pounds so far within a few months going to get a1c tested again hope to have brought it down I've cut out all soda and candy replaced white bread and pasta with wheat instead Hope my hard work paid off (Still going) 😀
I'm concerned. I've been keto/carnivore for 6 months. All my blood lab markers are good (BP110/70) but my A1c is 6.0. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks 👍
I did carnivore for about 4-5 months. (well about 80% carnivore). My cholesterol, Triglycerides and sugar went up. Not sure why or how but i'm done with that diet. Everyones body is different.
What did you say at 4:17... "if you want to keep eating fast carbs, make sure to ------ for them... sense I usually forget to -------, I'd rather stick to my old card diet"... I can't make out what you said there!!
@@TypeOneTalks Very low carb diets. next to none carbs tbh. Dexcom g6 + mobile apps are great! The Dexcom Clarity app just got updated (at least on my device) and it is able to set goals and give more detailed reports than ever. I also generally inject more insulin than I think may be necessary and eat some sugar to avoid going low. This may be controversial, but I find it much much easier to adjust from low to high, than high to low. I dont reccomend this technique to anyone without a CGM, as my dexcom allows me to catch the potential "dangerous" fall of my sugar before it's too late. In other words, I set much insulin and make sure I don't fall too low. My doctors don't reccomend this either, but it works in my case. Past 90 days I have 93% in range
@@BRORIGIN Thank you for sharing these tips. I see your angle there. Totally agree on the close to no carbs tip. Agree that "taking more insulin" needs to be taken with a grain of salt as everyone is different and what works for one person might be "dangerous" for another person. 93% in range is great! Well done! I am only 75% in range and trying to increase this % with no hypos.
Hi! I like this approach as well personally...but some times costs me some hypos ...but my question to you is how do you manage to go to a non carb or almost none? In the end we need some carbs...so how to go as low as possible without creating another problem there? Or at least I was thinking could be problematic....interested in hearing your opinions! Thanks!!
@@carlapujolras5022 I eat beans. Only beans. Beans for breakfast, beans for lunch, beans for dinner. I add some suppliments and it has resulted in my a1c reaching 4.9%
I reduced my hba1c from 6.8 to 5.6. Drink boiled water with kalonji or black cumin seeds of half teaspoon . Morning empty stomach you take it. And evening you can take it. But after drinking it, you must give atleast half an hour gap, before you eat something.
1 glass of water + 1 TSP of kalonji seeds . Boil it in a vessel for 5 minutes . And later drink it after it cools down. But if you are diabetic and taking medication then do not take kalonji as it will reduce your sugar levels to very low level.
My HbA1C also 13.7 i am type 2 diabetic since last year, I have reduced upto 5.98 by walking 1 hour daily. listening music &always in happy mood. Avoided sugar products . Sir I have a question .my HbA1c remains same forever?
Good job on reducing your HbA1c! I am not a doctor, but I believe it might not be same forever but if you continue with the healthy life style you started I am sure you will be fine. Wishing you all the best!
I am learning from your tips and tricks all the time Tom, I thought having the libre freestyle would do it for me, but no, my alarms were going off all the time at the start but now it is so much less and my a1c is 5.9 the libre freestyly 2 helps considerably as long as I keep with it and check my levels all the time about 15 - 20 times a day, the difficult part is, it never really stops either going up or down, all we can do is slow down the movements and sliding scale. Thanks Tom, your advice is great. I am type 2 diabetic of 30 years and have been a member here for 2 days. I really don't fully know what I am doing yet, but whatever it is, it seems to be working. :)
Im 15 and i was diagnosed with prediabetes because my Hba1c is 6.6% due to being physically inactive and not getting enough sleep and eating too much sweets
cut it out now you can reverse it just stop eating the sweets sugary drinks drink water exercise its not worth ot I wish I had knew when i was prediabetic go to the doctor for checkups thats important im a type 2 diabetic and it's not the worst thing but if tou can avoid it which you can you should do so

you have to eliminate sugar ofrom your diet white bread and pasta also sugary drinks .Eat a low carb diet.I have tried all that and my A1C was reduced.
Is this possible to have excellent hba1c if you continously having high morning values? I have type 2 and have been struggling to manage morning values.
Hi Ammara. It is possible but it is not ideal. You should probably talk to your doctor about ways how you can eliminate (or reduce) the extent of morning highs. Hope this helps! Happy holidays!
@Ammara, Tom is right. I have have normal A1C and would also add it is normal to have a “higher” blood sugar upon waking since that’s our body’s response to the cocktail it uses to wake us up and getting us going. Look up “dawn effect”. However how high is acceptable would be between you and your doctor. For me, 30 minutes after waking my blood glucose had been around 110 mg/dL. Over time is has since dropped to 85-90. I stopped having dinner late reduced my number of carbs at dinner according to how I felt.

Wish I had a wife.

I'm 35 and 3 years ago I was diagnosed me as type 1, my A1c is 6.3 my tips are
1) gym as daily routine, I'm not a gym guy but it has changed my diabetic career, without the gym I would still piss my self thanks you for being honest here :) as well talking about the gym I mean go there and do your best don't lie your self, if you really don't like it, just don't stay at gym too long get sweat and go home :)
2) I'm completely agreed with all that you said about the food however following point 1 you don't have to be even so strict about the food, Mc Donald, KFC sometimes is ok but I would take more insulin before the meal (make sure you control your sugar levels in the right way Free style, MM )
3) technology like Free Style, MM, watch displaying your sugar level and everything what keep your sugar under control and help you to understand and manage your lifestyle in the right way
4) if you like to have a drink sometimes, don't drink without the pillow I mean have a meal before, avoid beer, cyder any sweet alcohols, I would go for nice dry wine or whisky or vodka mixed with lemon and water remember to keep eye on your sugar
5) be positive and keep smile on your face because you can be even better than most of your friends just doing right things :)
I know all this stuff it's easy to say not that easy to implement in real life but believe me following this tips one day you can forget about your problems :))
Thanks a lot for sharing my friend! Very helpful for all viewerd indeed! Have a great day!
Finally got my mine to 7.0 after 4 weeks of libre usage, after so many years love this channel thank you
I started on the freestyle libre last week. Didn't realize how much up and down my blood sugar goes through until getting libre.

how many months it take to lower down?
Thank you for sharing your insights Nicole! Wishing you all the best! Take care.

Hello, how did you do it
If you don't mind me asking, did you use insuline or just diet and exercise? My A1c was almost 13 in mid December. I'm a type 2
Please share your secret,🙏 🙏 🙏 .
Good morning brother. Excellent information. Thank you so much brother.
My personal tips:
Wait before meal - inject some time (may be different by every person) before eating.
Have a good night - try to get good levels during the night
Reduce meals - no meals = no fluctuations and easier to control (keep eating at least 2 times a day)
use pump - much more opportunities, especially the basal change and squared bolus
use cgm - and set alarm to catch highs soon enough (and learn from your trend)
use diy loop - to get even more good levels without big waivers.
Great tips! Thank you very much for sharing! I haven’t tried looping (yet)... Are you looping? And if so how is that working for you? Any potential drawbacks?
@@TypeOneTalks THank you too for sharing your tips :)
I'm currently not looping (at least not closed looping), but I'll try in about half a year. I have alredy tested the AndroidAPS App in open loop mode and informed myself about loop - here is my current knowledge.
Pros:
-(Talking about DIY-Loop) There's a huge community that will help you
-DIY Loop Apps are very stable - I didn't heard about people getting into serious problems
-The big advantage about looping is, that it manages your diabetes in situation you can't or don't want to like sleeping, watching movies, during work etc.. As far as I heard, loop is managing those stuff amazing (depends on the quality of your Settings and factors).
-Less lows and more time in range because of the auto basal management
-It can handle 1 and maybe even 2 carb units without going out of range without manually insulin injection -> good for low carb people
-With nightscout (wich is part of the DIY Loop scene), you'll have a great analysis tool
Cons:
-Loop isn't a perfect Pancreas - It's mainly thought for the Basal management. You still have to adjust manually when you do sports, eat a bigger meal or stuff like that.
-You need a CGM system (or FGM - CGM solution like MiaoMiao..)
-Commercial Loops aren't that good as DIY solutions, because of legal restrictions (they're more defensive)
-You need to build and set up all by yourself (There are good docs and a lot of people that are willing to help you online) -> This isn't a big problem, it's not that hard
-You have to know and test all your factors pretty good (ISF, BR, CR, DIA)
-You will need to take your phone with you - if not, your pancreas isn't there.

I am doing a lot research on this and will eventually also write a detailed book or video on this:
In short, You just have to take these 2 things:
1: One before the meal
2: One after the meal
1. One before the meal - Water
You have to drink at least 1 glass of water 5-10 minutes before taking a meal.
There is no evidence that HBA1C is affected by sitting down after a meal.
My a1c actually went down from 14.5 to 9 in one month and I was feeling much better

Thank you, thank you, this is so helpful. Why don’t the medics insist on this?

I am unable to clearly hear your message. How can the pitch of your voice be raised? Kindly give me some advice.
Thank you so much for information
Goal.........weldone boy....and v well said.
I'm diabetes type 2 6.9 a1c lost over 20 pounds so far within a few months going to get a1c tested again hope to have brought it down I've cut out all soda and candy replaced white bread and pasta with wheat instead
Hope my hard work paid off (Still going) 😀
Thank you for sharing your experience.
My pleasure! You are most welcome!
mine is h1b1c is 9.4%,should I start taking medication ?Or control as you said?
I'm concerned. I've been keto/carnivore for 6 months. All my blood lab markers are good (BP110/70) but my A1c is 6.0. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks 👍
I did carnivore for about 4-5 months. (well about 80% carnivore). My cholesterol, Triglycerides and sugar went up. Not sure why or how but i'm done with that diet. Everyones body is different.
Thanks for your tips. I get my Freestyle Libre tomorrow and look forward to using your tips.
You are most welcome! Welcome to the Libre community! Wishing you all the best.
What did you say at 4:17... "if you want to keep eating fast carbs, make sure to ------ for them... sense I usually forget to -------, I'd rather stick to my old card diet"... I can't make out what you said there!!
I think I said "bolus". Bolus is basically the shot of insulin I take before I eat carby meals. Apologies for my pronounciation mistakes!
I had the same question!!!
thank you. so much for making this video.
My A1c is 5.5% and I couldn't be happier !
Edit: just checked and it is 5.4%
Great job! Thank you for sharing! Curious to hear if you had any tips how you got to this great number!

Good information!
Thank you!
VERY NICE EXPLANATION,GOD BLESS YOU SON,AMEN🤗
What kills you is the shakes when you're trying to get used to a normal range. If you're regularly at 250+ 130 feels like hell.
I reduced my hba1c from 6.8 to 5.6.
Drink boiled water with kalonji or black cumin seeds of half teaspoon . Morning empty stomach you take it. And evening you can take it. But after drinking it, you must give atleast half an hour gap, before you eat something.
In how many days?
@@sumerakhan5546 I felt effects from day 1 itself. But you need atleast 15 days to streamline it.
Hba1c test is for 3 months.
1 glass of water + 1 TSP of kalonji seeds . Boil it in a vessel for 5 minutes . And later drink it after it cools down. But if you are diabetic and taking medication then do not take kalonji as it will reduce your sugar levels to very low level.
Well done!
in the evening before dinner? thanks so much, will search for that cumin
Trying to remove man made carbs, potatoes and rice from diet. Went from a 7.6 to 6.5. freestyle libre didn't work good for me, was 50-200 points off
Thank you for tbis
My HbA1C also 13.7 i am type 2 diabetic since last year, I have reduced upto 5.98 by walking 1 hour daily. listening music &always in happy mood. Avoided sugar products . Sir I have a question .my HbA1c remains same forever?
Good job on reducing your HbA1c! I am not a doctor, but I believe it might not be same forever but if you continue with the healthy life style you started I am sure you will be fine. Wishing you all the best!
Prashant Sir can you give me your WhatsApp number I want to contact with you
I am learning from your tips and tricks all the time Tom, I thought having the libre freestyle would do it for me, but no, my alarms were going off all the time at the start but now it is so much less and my a1c is 5.9 the libre freestyly 2 helps considerably as long as I keep with it and check my levels all the time about 15 - 20 times a day, the difficult part is, it never really stops either going up or down, all we can do is slow down the movements and sliding scale. Thanks Tom, your advice is great. I am type 2 diabetic of 30 years and have been a member here for 2 days. I really don't fully know what I am doing yet, but whatever it is, it seems to be working. :)
You are welcome. I am glad to hear what you are doing is working! Keep it up!
Im 15 and i was diagnosed with prediabetes because my Hba1c is 6.6% due to being physically inactive and not getting enough sleep and eating too much sweets
Sorry to hear that my friend. Wishing you all the best!
cut it out now you can reverse it just stop eating the sweets sugary drinks drink water exercise its not worth ot I wish I had knew when i was prediabetic go to the doctor for checkups thats important im a type 2 diabetic and it's not the worst thing but if tou can avoid it which you can you should do so
My HbA1c is 8.2, After workout and without carbs it's reduced to 5.1
Well done! This is an amazing result! Keep up the good work my friend!

Great job
I wear a Deacon monitor, since I have been wearing it my numbers stay so high that it is always buying as if it were really high. After it buzz, I will go ahead and stick myself to get an accurate reading, and sometimes the receiver is 50/60 MG more the the stick in my finger. Could my high A1C level be a part of my high Blood Glucose level. Thank you,
Good information
I want to lower my A1C it is over 13, I need some support and motivations. Any suggestions. I like the video a lot.

So nice of you. You are most welcome!
Define "spike", the reason I ask is I might be 89 fasting, but when I eat it spikes to 180 after 30 minutes, but then be under 130 after an hour, is that considered a high spike?
I was not treating diabetes for 1 year and now when tested due to some stomach issue doctor said i have 12.8 hba1c and told me i need insulin. Is there any way i can reverse it with tablets with out insulin? Please anyone reply @everyone
I did not know that I had diabetes, at my job they would send me to do the physical exam, which is every 2 years, and I found the 1st high, and they fired me from work
So sorry to hear that! Welcome to the community. Wishing you all the best!

Felt good seing your video.
you have to eliminate sugar ofrom your diet white bread and pasta also sugary drinks .Eat a low carb diet.I have tried all that and my A1C was reduced.
Agreed!! Thank you for your input. Wishing you all the best!
@Ammara, Tom is right.
Love this, thanks bud.
You’re most welcome my friend!
