Welcome back! I hope you are doing well. Your analysis is spot on. I really enjoyed Forspoken because I liked the combat and I had never played such a parkour game before. But when going for the platinum, I got a bit burned out by doing the same kind of activity over and over. There's no real side quests. I understand that they can't have NPCs outside of this one city due to the narrative, but there's not even a "During our flight x years ago we had to leave behind a family heirloom, could you get it for me?" or a "I'm sick of eating the same thing over and over again, can you go out and find new edible plants?". I did the opposite of what you did: since you find new cloaks and necklaces all the time, I didn't bother upgrading untill I got the most powerfull one. I didn't know if resources were limited so I didn't want to waste any on a cloak I'd be replacing 20 minutes later. It all sounds really negative, but I was having a lot of fun. It'll never get anywhere close to game of the year, but it was still enjoyable. I played it day one and didn't find any bugs, that's gotta be worth something these days when people complain about developers releasing broken games. It doesn't deserve all the hate it gets.

The recent DLC might pull me back in assuming I ever stop Zelda'ing and Final Fantasy'ing. It's not a bad game at all and I've always found the pile on that occurred with critics to be suspicious.

It's been a little difficult finding discourse around this game which isn't focused on the real world political stuff, so really appreciated getting to hear a bit more about the gameplay and your thoughts on that. It sounds like there may originally have been a great idea there, but it got rushed out towards the end leaving lots of the experience without any depth. It's a shame really, as the gameplay footage you've shown here is beautiful!

I literally just beat the game last night. It’s a modern take on a urban Alice in wonderland with a twist. I enjoyed playing it and the combat was fun. I understand what they were going for. I will say that I am not the type of person that has to play perfect games plus I like the Miasma chronicles of the gaming world. Get it on sale and just play it without judging it based on what you thought it was going to be. My biggest issue was the jittery frame rate on the PS5. I may try it on PC when we get a steam sale. Hopefully my 6750xt can smooth that frame rate out. Oh, forgot to mention, I am typically not a icon chaser in open world games. I stick pretty close to the story. I found early on that chasing icons in this game was not really rewarding.
The performance is pretty solid on PC, the frame-timing is spot-on so there isn't any of that jittery-ness. It does need beefy specs though, the engine is very needy. Even with an RTX 4080 I could not sustain 120fps (the maximum cap) with ray-tracing turned off. Capping to 60 with reasonable settings should give you a much smoother experience than the PS5 though.
Have you ever picked up a glass of flavored drink (apple juice, soda etc.) but instead it was water. That unexpected taste of nothingness. That is Forspoken…
Welcome back. I think that if the main story and sales pitch of the DLC isn't enough to make YOU want to play it, then it's probably not worth playing.
To be fair, I haven't actually looked into it a whole lot so my apathy is based solely on the non-DLC game. I should probably have a look, they might've fixed some of the things I took issue with in the main game.
In a nutshell: it's a empty sand box like 90% of open world games, that's why Zelda TOTK sold over 10 million in only 3 days, because it has a interactive open world and not being done just to check off a check box.
It's not exactly empty, there are actually tons of things to do but they are so shallow that it doesn't actually feel like there is anything to do. I had actually already written this script before ToTK (which I just finished the other night after ~120 hours) so I didn't really draw any comparisons in the video. The problem with Forspoken's open-world is that it's just a checklist item as you said, it's a design decision that feels like we went all the way back to the Ubisoft Open-World boom from 5-7 years ago. It's so rigid in the way it's designed, in what you can do, and in what there is to discover... it doesn't feel open or dynamic, it doesn't feel like you have any freedom, and ToTK is the exact opposite.
It’s funny cuz you just know in like 10-15 years people are gonna be flocking back to it and talk about how it was overhated and was actually a pretty great game. It happens so much these days with old ps2 games that were seen as shit back in the day
For me the Forspoken is still a good enough game that needed a good chunk of work. And after watching the DLC I am sad how that will be like a dream I could never sleep back to when it delivers an compelling ending with a potential for a sequel.

We've gotten to the point where if a game isn't amazing or exactly what you want than it's automatically a 2/10 awful piece of shit game.. and I really don't understand it. Like I don't get how people can play forspoken and say it's an awful game, alot of people are saying it's the worst game in years. How the fuck can you say that? That's laughable. Is it a great game? No it's not. But is it a BAD game? No it's not. It's a 6 maybe 7/10. Personally I went into it wanting a kind of mindless action game and I had a pretty damn good time with it. The traversal is fun and the combat is actually really fun imo so I got exactly what I wanted out of it.. I just wish we would stop review bombing every game that you want to hate on just because it's not a perfect game

Hey, I found it something iconical. I play Elden Ring,.there is a huge open world,.story is great but it's not as much as Gameplay & running around to looking for a fight! Similar to Forspoken but loop very well, combat is perfect. Art style is amazing & you can feel it that on every corner there is something amazing to do! ;)
it really is easy to go a long time without making content, my videos aren't high quality edited stuff. since it is 100% a hobby. first time i took a long break was getting into monster hunter XD. since the general point of the gaming side of my content is obscure/indie games. that i feel won't get enough attention and deserve it. that limits uploads greatly, as well as in recent years. for some reason not having the motivation to play games a lot of the time.
Forspoken really did kill the channel.
