the new launcher looks so clean, although I'd love to see more functions for it, it has great potential
The Huey still has so much potential, I hope this is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to updates for it. I'd gladly pay for updated graphics and functionality.

The ground AI update was so, needed. I’ll have to check it out. This could really be a game changer for real. In my opinion, the worse aspect was the sniper level AI for the ground units.
The cinematics are *INCREDIBLE!*
*Afghanistan Map* is really rough but shows promise. There is plenty of mountainous terrain with valleys and such that you can literally disappear in, but it is a long way from being presentable. It is a very large map that touches several important countries with some volatile histories. There is a lot of work to do on this map. (I have the full map.)
I mean it’s in EA like the Kola map…which just got updates. Probably expect the same over the next few updates
@@AceDotBoogie I agree, somewhat. I was impressed with the KOLA map but not as much with this Afghanistan map. They are both just getting started, but I think they came out of the gates at different speeds.
Also, I received the full map. The SW version was probably more populated in ratio.
I have faith that it will be great, in any case.

Many legacy FC3 owners, including this one, found the aircraft licenses for all the aircraft were disabled and unable to be flown.
And they want 10$ for updating from legacy FC3 to new one, I feel scamed a little. But they already sold visual update for Ka-50 for 15$ so I can't say I'm surprised.

@@UkrNomad Dude, creating these things takes time and money, and 9.99 seems more than fair for FC2024.
But frankly, I rarely, if ever, play it anymore as I find full-fidelity aircraft much more fun and operable.
@UkrNomad it is more than visuals. They added the MWS as well as the igla launchers.
You just gotta redownload them in the download manager in game.
IMPORTANT ABOUT FC3 based MODS!
I can say for sure that the F-22 mod does in fact work still, and I assume they all do. You just have to do the following:
For the F-22, it uses the F-15C. IF you're using another based on something else, use that. First spawn the base plane, in this case the F-15C in on the ground and start in it, then have the F-22 as a second slot and simply change slots.
If you try to get in the F-22 first, even with the F-15 in the lobby, it wont work. But if you spawn in the F-15, then switch to the F-22, it does work. I can't confirm this works with any other mods that use FC3, but I'd assume it does for some. There are a few bugs, such as the flaps and speed brake don't work, but I assume that'll be fixed (or just start working again) eventually. Everything else is fine. I just took down 3 Su-33s, a Wing-Long, and two J-11s on the Afghanistan map.
In this update, the moon appears much bigger than it actually is supposed to be... I like the larger moon though :)

I feel the new interface for MP seems to hit my FPS hard in VR Q2 But i do like that I can change my graphics without restarting
same on quest 3, and if it gets too tasked by the game the quest 3 on link will enter this like stuttering mode that requires a restart of the game to fix. turns the world into a slide show and will not recover even if you go to a less resource heavy area. persists in menu even until you restart
It's a shame this latest patch broke Tobii Eye Tracker for many, myself included, I was really looking forward to playing this patch. (Yes I already tried the fixes mentioned in the ED forum, did not work for me).

Unfortunately they broke quadviews foveated rendering for the Pimax Crystal which makes it unplayable for many players
I have spent hundreds on this sim. No buyers remorse here. I love to support a group willing to put this kind of commitment into a project. Even have some high end controls for it.
But I cannot find the patience to learn it. The amount of reading, and back and forth through the manuals, is really off putting.
I have high respect for you guys who have this figured out.
just focus in one airplane. Every day you play you will learn a bit more. Jumping from one module to the next makes learning nearly impossible.
disable your antivirus when updating. I have to disable ESET temporarily when updating DCS

Great update, good work ED.... love the Super Carrier features, you actually control the entire Naval Group, fantastic, sure there are a couple minor issues (hotfix), for myself I didn't notice anything not working.
Just bought Afgan map, amazing map, but I hope textures will be lifted with updates! Overall - amazing patch and additions like FC 2024!

I'm glad they did that. Just a bummer that most content creators pulled their tutorial videos on the thing as I wanted to get into it finally... wasn't able to enjoy it earlier even though I got it with the 30% off pre release and I was really stoked to get that thing.

About time!
So u was trying to get on some MP severs today (Contention 80s PVP) and when I joined blue, it brought me to the role selection page and just froze. I then joined a smaller server and the same thing happened. I don’t know why this is happening, but my internet is running fine and I’ve gotten onto these servers many times before. Anyways, knowing my pc specs might help so here they are
i7-11700KF CPU
RTX3060 GPU
64GB RAM
6TB HDD (which I will admit makes things slower)
Noctua NH-L9x65 CPU fan
(I have a few case fans, one 92mm and 2 120mm, just don’t remember the name)
and I play with a Quest 2 headset
DCS runs fine in single player, it does have a few lag spikes on bigger maps like Kola and Afghanistan, but it’s only when I take off from a runway and the go away shortly after.

3:42 To be fair, it's great that this happened. I probably wouldn't have heard about that software otherwise in quite a while. I've read of users with a G2 getting like 40% fps gain out of it even if it's just for basically having a better version of fixed foveated rendering. I might actually try that for my Q3, even though I got quite decent rates now with my 4080s, basically getting 90fps in most non-action scenarios. But getting more headroom is always better. Just need to find the sweet spot on that - I noticed using the foveated rendering thing in OXRTK unsharpens it too much in the peripheral areas when you have those awesome lenses. If only I had eye tracking...

5:22 Noice! When I still ran my old 3570k, 32GB, 1080, CV1 rig, I could fly with rock solid 45 straight. But as soon as I went on any of those "scripted" servers, I literally was in the single digit frames region - even if running the thing in pancake with basically all graphics options turned off at just 960x600 res. The load on the CPU of a mass of units on those servers was the ultimate game killer.

Big problems with the new update in VR. Unplayable for me in Open XR. Steam VR also crashed on me in the new multi-player server menu.
Long shot, but I hope the laucher gets Mod manager.

This update broke support for Dynamic Foveated Rendering.
For any headset that is not from Varjo, QuadViewsDFR from Mbbucia needs to be used, (which is not updated anymore)
and used a workaround to detect the wonky OpenXR implementation of DCS.
Now QuadViews doesn't detect DCS anymore and they need to fix this themselves.
Hopefully they don't let this slide, quadviews is essential for the DCS VR experience

@@imjashingyou3461 Have you ever tried it? You would need to have a Pentium CPU and a 4090 to see no improvements here. I am not hyperbolic, basically everyone profits immensely from quad views.

I haven't heard of that thing before since I don't have been trying to get dynamic foveated rendering at all for the lack of eye tracking on my hardware, but after delving into it and seeing reports of like 40% fps gains on a Reverb G2, this totally _IS_ quite important for many users, even when many of those still don't know like I did. It's great if you don't need it, but this is almost like that mythical "download free fps for free" meme getting real.
Somehow for me mirrors on all aircraft are broken after the update. All specs are at high/ultra.

I uninstalled my FC3 modules then reinstalled them. They work but I could see how it could break mods that depend on them.
has anybody noticed all kinds of controller conflicts? I have the full Thrustmaster Hotas warthog kit, red alerts all over the place especially with the right throttle.

Is this new update out yet? I just tried loading DCS and it just went straight in to the game with no update. Yet some are complaining that the update has broken their sim.

Ever since installing update and Afghanistan, my control schemes are glitching like crazy. Lots of stuttering, q3 headset volume keeps adjusting randomly (with volume bar visibly popping up), Kiowa pilot/copilot controls activate without any binds. All binds confirmed and reconfirmed. Made DCS almost unplayable. Anyone else?
It f****d mine controls completely. I'm standalone but launch via Steam as I play VR along with a Dualsense controller, I configure the controller with Steam this is why I launch via Steam. After the update, DCS wouldn't recognise any controller I connected, constant TrackIR unplugged error messages. The fix was to launch via the actual DCS .exe and to manually reconfigure the controller in DCS, but at least it registers the controller. Took me hours to figure out the issue!
Quest 3 here with OpenXR, standalone DCS. All binds still there, flew F15E, F/A18c - no problems. Only thing I needed to change to prevent stuttering on some Afghanistan airports was to reduce preload terrain distance from 80k to 69km or nm. And I'm glad to still have my fully stable 72fps even on multiplayer, which I also had in last version.
My ‘fix’ was to disable the new launcher. After disabling the launcher, all of my control schemes were back and working perfectly, with zero controller/TrackIR unplugged error messages. This will likely only be applicable for people who use steam to create their control schemes. Apparently, there’s an issue where Steam doesn’t know DCS is running in the background due to a conflict with the new launcher.
dcs updater will not let me update. Gives authorization errors. What can I do?
the new launcher is cool but it make tobii unable to work in DCS you need to disable the launcher to make it work....
Just wish it looked that fast in the cockpit, would make it more of a rush but it wouldn’t be realistic then and it is a simulation after all…! Still, would be better in my novice opinion..! ✌🏻💙

Best thing with the new launcher is it has an option in settings to not use the launcher. For the F-14, really wish they would make the horrible "forge" elements able to be disabled.
I just wish we could have a way to have a more pristine one, especially without the janky wiring that is supposed to keep the buttons from falling out like utterly broken teeth. I mean I like them going for realism, but somehow it also feels like I'm flying a museum piece, especially if all the other modules aren't like that.

Same here. On some servers or some maps it's fine for an hour and i'm at my fps cap then after that it goes down by 30-50%.
Any vr optimization at all? used to be able to play no problem, now its a laggy mess, i miss playing dcs

The feature I didn't know I wanted all along.
But well, Moza AB9 will be there soon to replace my lores Sidewinder FFB2 without having to sacrifice FFB. And I'll probably go for floor "mounting" the thing (acutally just dumping it there, hoping it won't slide around) with some extension modules to get the stick grip to where it belongs to be. That will be like a 690% precision increase, probably.

Unfortunately they didn't remove that annoying "Steam authorization error. No saved authorization found" which happens every three days of offline playing.

Vr is very broken, I have a beast of pc that use to run 90fps and now can't get pass the fancy dynamic slotting page
Check if some settings have changed, got no problem on my end with vr, works like before on high settings
Me too. The slotting page is a frozen image on the vr mirror and black screen on the lense. OpenXR settings were reset to default, but setting it up again didn´t help. Singleplayer runs fine though, even with heavy loaded missions.

Afghanistan looks terrible for me with everything on max. Terrible ground textures. Lots of graphical articles like spiky "pyramids " or steep holes that suddenly is there. Sure look fine if you only fly at 10k feet. But flying in vr in a Kiwoa along the Helmand river just pulles me out of my immersion.
Well they said that the detailed sections are around towns and airports. To me it looks amazing but as soon as you go out of them sections then it goes down hill big time. But they said there bringing more detailed areas in early access
@Loopyllu365 I've only flown in the part ED has said is basically finished. Flying around Helmand river(the main geographical feature of the part ED says is done. There are so many bad textures, rivers going up and down like a waterpark ride. Giant reverse pyramid holes random places

This update has broken multiplayer for me and others. It looks like it is the new multiplayer selection menu. Fuming!

Broke multiplayer for me I can’t get past the freezing of the select role and the f14 I heard because I can’t try it myself is broke in a few things….😔
On populated mp servers the role/spawn select window is extremely laggy and irritating but I haven't crashed from it yet. Have you waited through the freeze?

What do you mean? When I launch my MT DCS shortcut it brings up the launcher, through which I get into the game. Are you saying it's then bringing me to the ST game?

Good day Andrei! The new patch update has been a disaster. All of our servers went down after the "new update". The "dynamic" installed caused so many issues. Servers crashed, DCS crashed. Our server IT guru has been working over 12 hours in a attempt to get the issues resolved. He had to contact ED on the issues which came up. Other Squadrons are reporting the same issues. People are a little bit p****d. They have had since May 7th to fix or repair this patch ....DCS crashed multiple times on all our maps and servers.
Missions issues especially on servers are expected. I am sorry to hear you had such problems. Await either the fix or your miz file requires changes and the lua code.
@hipgames our server IT guy has been working on it for over 12 hours. Several of our mates even tried other Squadrons servers, same issues on completely different servers. Another ED disaster in the making.

@SgtDevRupesh_ALT far as I know, our Server IT specialists worked on the servers for 12 hours, he had to work this morning and has to work on it further when he is off shift. So we will see tonight. We usually have "Squadron night" on Fridays...IMO, I don't think the servers will be back up by 1900 EST.

my first update as a few DCS player and hooo boy I'm literally going to refund my recently bought p-51. the update broke the game for me, incredible stutters when I move my camera. tried every single "fix" available. deleting folders, mouse polling, even fucked up a USB on my pc by messing with drivers. the game works fine until I move my damned camera. I'm not eve sure it's a big enough Issue where ED will fix it soon...
Were you used to run the game in MT mode? cos the new launcher apparently doesn't launch multithreaded ...
