Vander's personality is literally being repressed by what Singed has made him into. Repressed personality ≠ "mere plot device" Also, you can call everyone a plot device, there's no delineation between characters who all affect the plot/ other characters if you decide to shit on one specific character

how do people not realize that warwick was perfect. much like viktor, it showed that the only way to true power was giving up humanity. Ties perfectly with the entire themes of the show
@@adamshev5105 Let's be honest: In Season 1 every character have suffered through getting ruined by Riot writers. Vander, Jinx, Vi, Cate, Heim they all were done dirty by this season staff
Yes and no. Even with another season, Netflix would only offer so much. A few episodes could solve the most important plot point in the show but nothing else.
Good story by itself, but this is canon and when you go back to the champions we all know and love that felt eternal and realize how everything about them is resolved in a few days….you ponder with how disappointing these champions are…all of them. Every single one of them.
@unromanoarecareanaveragero8275 the writers swear that the story was fully planned from the beggining, but i don't believe on this because nothing on season 1 seems to building up to season 2, not to mention everything feels so rushed
@@a_naotenhonome780they did say that they cut out A LOT from the series. Like there was enough timebomb scenes cut out to make 2 whole episodes. They really did fumble by just making two seasons.
@@seismic6435 yeah but a lot of plot lines of this season din't align with the plotlines of season 1, i recommend watching a video called 7 arcane writing betrayals that go more in depth to it
The fact that Isha blew his face up would have been a perfect opportunity to have Singed inject him with more wolf DNA to have him look like an actual werewolf in the end and not beauty and the beast or Galio… 🙄
@@Gaming123ish well they gonna probably make a new skin for Warwick just like they did with jinx, vi, cait and other champs, they don’t always update the base model and they don’t have to match either the only base model character that got updated is Viktor
As other people suggested, it couldve been sooo good if Warwick was the only way Vanders ideals could exist in the Piltover-Zaun civil war. Like, since hes attracted by the smell of blood, any unnecessary violence would bring both sides to be slaughtered, forcing a temporary peace like Vander wanted.
@@danatedawg1018 Cait and Vi had a good thing in season 1. Season two was a disaster, they breakup, and by the time you're done processing whatever happened, they're back together, then break up again, then back together like two episodes later. Vi had 0 character development trough the entire show even tho season one had moments that hinted about things she would work on as a character but never did. Build up and developing isn't the same thing. People can call it nitpicking but neglecting a main character to just focus on their relationship is valid criticism imo. That being said, I know they had a deadline and had to cut many things, so I suppose it is a consequence of that. Season 2 for me personally needed 4 acts, with 3, I was left with an unsatisfied feeling personally
@boxcutter4 Warwick is kind of a demon in LoL lore. Maybe make it revolve around the Chem Barons hunting and pushing Renata Glasc to the forefront would have been great.
that sounds so boring, and it would also have some of the same issues people have with pilties and zaunites teaming against viktor (but even more boring)
another victim of the pace of the show and the scale they decided to end on, if they'd kept the scale smaller the pace wouldn't be insane and they'd have more time for stuff like this. They needed a smaller scope and less characters.
The problem was less the pacing, rather how far they wanted to go. Going from Season 1 establishing a backstory for the champions in the city they live in, to the big arcane-disaster was just too much.
I was hoping Warwick would be Arcane's version of the Hulk, where Vander would constantly switch between a man and a monster, trying to control the switch between the two sides.
Yeah, that would be very interesting. Ww is able of human speech so at least some kind of dialoge would be good, his only line was "powder" and that's it. They could even go for things like how in league pc ww calls Vi a traitor, showing how vander was dissapointed on Vi. There was so much potential but they literally just kill him.
Fun fact: ww is not suppossed to be a werewolf but rather a chimera. He was wolf parts, bat ears, fox tail, etc.. So they totally jus scrapped that and said "he's a werewolf now". And honestly, everything that happend in arcane doesn't feel like past-to-present, but rather past-present-future. Like, showing their backstory, their present (vi being an inforcer, ww wolf kind of, jayce with hextech hammer, cait having two eyes, etc. All of the their league version in some point.) And then the future: Jinx dying (or not), Cait loosing her eye, Jayce and viktor kinda dead, ww turned into a puppet (how it would make sense for him to revert back? I feel like that wasn't their intention at all). My point is, i feel like arcane planned to show us the characters conclusion rather than how they are now the league characters. Literally league models just became how the character looked at one point (sort of) and not their present canon form.
Man, that's how I feel about the show. Past-present-future describes what Arcane is. Originally, it was just a 2-season series that wouldn't be canon and would end with Jinx's death at Vi's hands. They even have a sketch of it, so when Riot canonized it they couldn't show her death on screen and left it open so as not to disturb the lore of the game too much and other things were changed.
Damn so the Jinx we have in game is before season 2 episode 3 when she loses a finger to Caitlyn but why doesn’t she have her bullets tattoos on her arm just the clouds?
@@adnnebs well, we know that arcane desings are mostly a remake of their league version. Cait for example never got that fancy hat ,except when she was just firts introduced as a character in S1 but still just an enforcer hat, despite that she had a visual rework that same year. It feels like Riot saw that people saw how much people liked arcane and just said: "It's Canon now". I belive Arcane was just supossed to be another alter universe (in a game they release named "converged", there's a reference to arcane as another universe). So the answer it's that they are not good at character desing consitency. One example of this is ww arcane skin. In LOR he is just the Arcane version while in league he is a Wolf version of the arcane version. Maybe since arcane it's their first animated canon universe, they will learn about this and try not to recknon everything. They are a company after all, they will not waste money of visually update every champion for free, that's why the arcane versions are skins for sale despite being the canon version of the champ
@@DonghuaTianlong yeah, and at first i thought "hey, they are league champs even if they have some plot armor, it means they will be used for further things" but nope. A perfect example is ambessa. What was the point of releasing her as a champ if she was going to die?. League champs have that special thing that even if they don't release stories of them, you know they exist, that they are out there on runaterra. Everytime a new champ is released we are curious about how they interact with other champs, being voicelines or short easter eggs. But now with things like ambessa, is like, you are playing a character that is dead!. There will not be more stories, no more interactions and even if they are, it will not matter cuz she's dead!. If they released Mel (now she has powers so it makes sense) it would be more interesting because she has the potential of a future after her mother's death. Maybe she will try to discover the secrets of the black rose, or other things but the story potential is there. Being honest, i used to like when riot released a champ bc of their stories, they are supossed to be important in the world, or related to a big event. But nope, kasante is just a very strong monster hunter and that's it, akshan has a weapon ABLE to revive death people but he was just used as the funny relief in the ruination event, smolder is just a dragon and that's it, that breaths fire (even aurelion is just a dragon BUT A COSMIC DRAGON GOD CREATOR OF STARS). I know it's hard to make characters so strong because it would mess with the power scale but at least give them interesting stories. A perfect example was Vi and jinx, just two humans but their story is amazing. Or even Nasus and renekton story, a tragic tale of two brothers too
@@adnnebs Arcane wasn’t canon initially. It was only after the success of the first season that Riot officially declared the series as part of the canon. Now, they’re rushing to adjust the lore and rework characters to align with Arcane and their future projects. As a result, the current canon version of Jinx is essentially the one represented by the new skin. @adnnebs
Well I think it goes both ways to be honest. Singed wanted to find a way to cure his daughter BUT he also needed more allocated funds and test subjects since Silco's passing will soon start affecting the SPEED of his work. I think the reason why Vander was weaponized was so though that he could demonstrate to that one Warlord, who overthrew the city, that he was both useful and ingenius. He created a beast that can and will destroy armies to his design, which promptly got him into a position of power soon after he was recruited.
Vanwick makes no sense and shouldn't have ever been included in season 2. Vander's arc was complete. Bringing him back for this goofy werewolf story that goes nowhere is almost single-handedly what ruined season 2. Without it, there would've been 2.5 whole episodes that could've been devoted to the Zaun revolution, dictator Caitlyn, and Jinx/Vi conflict arcs that the whole first act was building towards, which just gets dropped entirely upon Vanwick's introduction and are never really picked back up. Not only did it completely derail the season, but it also retroactively hurt Silco's character. It makes no sense at all that Silco would be going after Vi and Powder, and treating them essentially like strangers in season 1, if he was close friends with their mother and was literally in part responsible for naming them. Season 2's flashback paints Silco like almost an uncle to Vi, which does not mesh at all with their interactions in season 1.
Arcane season 2 was changed bc the writter refused to read the lore on the champs and the area, they activily ruined sooooooo many champs and riot pushing arcane victor as base was the final nail in the coffin, Riot basicly told its playerbase that we are no longer the target audience
Every ww fan expected to get a fully Werewolf transformation after Isha sacrifice. That way WW would win a lot of lore from his human side before singed and pre Full WW as we all know. But... No... The plot uses him for connect the sisters and give singed a reason to revive Oriana ( i dont think that, this in fact, its a bad idea) and nothing more. Doing the Robot ww only scrap any posible way to arcane Vander to be the real WW since even if he survive the final explosion he losed the chems and singed its no longer interested in him since Oriana is saved so no point in give them again.... Also, i expected for the second season WW killing baron chems as his primary role in the lore is that and he didnt. Only couple of guards in the prision and a few noxus soldiers SAAAD.
yeah, completely agree. Why not have us see warwick cause chaos, until the prison scene where jinx fights him and manages so escape by a hair, maybe wounded, but then he tries to attack viktor camp and he instead regains parts of his memories when facing viktor? Only then jinx (and us the viewers) understand he is indeed vander and he chooses to only go against evil guys, until he goes for ambessa and Singed forces him to stop. That would have been a much better story than the rehab we got.
despite what the co-creator said in the interview (i.e. that Warwick will eventually obtain his wolf form and his lore is still canon) I still find his "character" in arcane wasted and I don’t think I will never get over it soon. I'll rewrite what I already said about warwick in arcane in a post on r/warwick because I don't really feel like writing everything from scratch: ‘ll give my two cents on Warwick: the creators simply never intended to use Warwick as a character. For them, he was just supposed to be a plot device useful to make them close the season in nine episodes without making the reunion of Vi and Jinx as sisters seem unforced, and then subsequently create a scene of danger in which to sacrifice Jinx. Warwick is not a character, and sadly he wasn't built in Arcane to be one. Simply put, on the characterization side he has no character: he has no feelings, no flaws, no merits, he never makes a choice and never becomes the driving force of the story. He is not a character; he is a plot device. Functional? Certainly for the relationship between Jinx and Vi, but he has effectively killed Warwick as a character in Arcane. Honestly, I think he hasn't been totally ruined as a character, especially after the co-creator's statements (I mean, they could have been said for show and they're not actually true, but until proven otherwise they're canon) that confirmed that his LoL lore remains canon. And in reality, it could also be a decent basis for further exploring it in the future, all this Galiowick stuff and what happens next. But this remains: a potentially good basis but on which they haven't built anything. Then I repeat, the fact that they didn't instantly destroy his lore on the site, etc., confirms that his lore for now still remains canon, so more or less the damage has been "contained." But the disappointment remains, and it doesn't matter if in the future (as I HOPE they will) they will give an actual deepening of Warwick in future products related to Arcane; the damage to the character in Arcane will remain. Sure, I would feel relieved, but the disappointment of Warwick in Arcane will remain every time I happen to rewatch the series. And it hurts. anyway nice video you really expressed the problem and the issue well.
As a warwick fan from League i really did not mind his design that much he is still warwick just in a more classic hollywood werewolf style in order to communicate with the non league audience better emotions. Though i do understand that it does feel like a copout because a dog or a wolf is definetely also able to portray emotions easily. The weirdest thing for me is how they introduced him as being Singed's slave instead of an experiment that got out of his lab on it's own and is going crazy now.
what makes you think that Warwick died at the end? I believe that happened in the end burned his metal form away and then he heals into the Warwick we know from league.
@@boiho8960 ww came in 2017, they didn't take 2-3 years to design him. he was already there. it was not simultaneus especially since ww appeared in season 2
they shouldn't have made vander/warwick such A BIG part of season 2... we should just get a few scenes of warwick saving vi or jinx or trying to kill them, he should remain a mystery, not something viktor has to fix, like what? xD
In my opinion, Warwick should have been a massive threat looming in the background everyone was scared if he showed up, attacking anyone that was bleeding, and Noxus finds out and tries to weaponize him and Viktors people. This way he can still be used at the end being captured and forced to be part of victors army and subjugated so he can be controlled,
Won’t lie. What they did with Warwick has to be one of my biggest disappointments from any show I’ve ever watched. I was so hyped and trusted them after season one to do it perfectly and so good. I haven’t felt so let down by a show since I don’t even know. This entire season was disappointing. But this in particular was made me sad.
Honestly Warwick should have become nothing but a broken monster that makes us see that only the monster is left and echoes of the man , instead we got a massive disappointment
What made even less sense is that he seems to imply that he intentionally blocked out Vander's old memories, yet also says he made the beast because he wanted to restore his daughter, body and memories intact... SO WHY WOULD YOU INTENTIONALLY GET RID OF THE ENEMIES?!
They also could have made him look a bit more like wolf. I wasn't even sure if it was supposed to be Warwick or if they are going to add real Warwick later.
Warwick, Viktor, and Jayce are characters from the great arcane season 1 please don't confuse them with Warren, Vincent, and Jake from this new spinoff show
Arcane does feel like a prologue though and tbh its the only way it makes sense to me. League being at least 5 to 10 years after the event of Arcane (assuming League itself still exist in the lore). If that's the case Warwick in Arcane makes more sense anyway as he clearly wasn't fully transformed in Arcane. Christian Linke did say we'll see more of him too so he didn't die at the end. At least its how i personally took it as a big (900k mastery lol) Warwick fan and a huge fan of Zaun in general (if we get to pick an origin/starting zone in the MMO i'm picking either that or Ixtal).
Wait.. didn't they remove league and summoners from the lore like 10 years ago, because it was too constraining? There hasn't been "league of legends" as an institute of war in years (or stuff like fiddlesticks being stuck in a summoners broomcloset). And even when there was, the champions were from multiple timelines. How on earth would you fit aatrox the world ender with seraphine on the same point in time? Shadow isles just existing is a great example too. Arcane is just the start of the new overhaul of the cinematic canon story. I feel it to be absurd that people try to force league of legends as a core component for Runeterra. Even legends of runeterra would be a better match. I hope we get to see more content soon, so people would get a better grasp on their idea of expanding the role.
@@nemmorajala4699 Yeah that was retcon'd. Idk if the League even exists in the lore or if they just basically decided that League is their equivalent to smash bros but backwards lol. My point was mostly that there's seem to be a gap between how characters are depicted in arcane and in league, in terms of time/evolution. That has to be intentional.
Ambessa dies in Arcane, also Viktor gave up on his glorious evolution in the end so the prologe theory ruined too. It's just a full mess now. You won't find any sense, they f*ed up the storylines too much.
Whatever way they're attempting to make Warwick look like in the game in the future, it'll be just a complete forced bullsh*t. They had their chance...
@@WhatDoYouWant92 haven't you seen the lore walkthroughs from devs? The game hasn't been canon in years, and why would it be, since they are starting to make content like cinematics and world built games that need an actual story. Can't really say that the canon is a mess when it only includes the newer cinematics and a tv-show. And upcoming show about noxus could be one that weaponizes warwick and makes him a full furry for fans. Anything can happen. I am just glad that mess like shaco and broomcloset fiddlesticks are gone too
It was obvious they were going to do something like this from the start. If you’re not a popular League character, then your lore is disposable and irrelevant. Hell even if you ARE popular or basically the mascot (Teemo), they will quite literally overwrite the original lore. Teemo went from being a war vet to just a clumsy boy scout. Unforgivable.
Wow... I genuinely could not believe this was actually their attempt at warwick... Utterly depressing... I had hoped it was just another random monster 💀
I've made this comment in numerous Arcane Warwick videos. I truly feel that I didn't mind Vander's story even rushed until the automaton redesign. I was under the impression that we were seeing his incomplete transformation, and I thought Isha blowing herself up at that episode would have been the "death catalyst" to finalise his transformation instead of being tossed aside, but alas, I was also disappointed with the outcome.
Overall, the main issue was rushing. Warwick’s character barely got any time to be explored, and since his relationship to the main characters (jinx and Vi) was being their father, that’s what the writers focused on. As a massive Warwick fan I’m ok with his story given the time they had to work on, and I feel a though there were some instances where they did him justice, but the redesign is what I find to be most disappointing. No snout and no tail? Criminal.
I agree wholeheartedly with the video and i kinda wish Vander as a character had his story end in season 1, instead of trying to squeeze him this season as a simple plot device. However, I'm not sure if many people noticed, but Warwick actually starts going crazy and vomiting the lava after Singed injects him. They show a shot of him standing after that goes down, hinting that he did indeed manage to inject the serum when the other characters left the tent.
I pretty much fully agree. biggest issue for me it just boils down that they took the character that is in their original version supposed to be defined by their agency and gave him as little agency as possible. I don't particularly care much for the redesign but they really messed up in regards to what the character really embodies. The now retired lore/league warwick is a character defined by his struggle for agency, he does not want to give up to his beast side and even with no clear memories holds onto his principles and wishes to stay as good of a man as possible, struggling to keep his urge for blood at bay and only killing the deserving. His whole hook as a character is a man turned monster who despite almost being hopelessly lost in desire for blood still tries to hold back. On the opposite angle arcane still keeps the blood taking away his mind, but also lets him have his mind as vander for a while. But it just results in him being a bit of a hopeless creature that jinx and vi need to take to viktor, then he does get to save jinx that one time but then he dies, loses control again, gets turned into a robot that just obeys viktor and is there to make vi hesitate at the end. The real core of the issue for me is that I feel like there should have been some scene at the end where warwick breaks out of the control of viktor and does fight some of the noxians or similar, to show underneath he might not be vander but he is struggling to be a good. As it stands he kind of just gets to go out as a lazy ass miniboss which stings for anyone that loved what he previously stood for.
Btw, Warwick survived. You can see something leaving the explosion jinx made and considering how insanely durable he is, it’s probably Warwick leaving.
i get why they went with the human face because it's easier to convey emotions through microexpressions on a human face than on an animal (not impossible, but probably wouldn't work) i wanted him to just die and not be robotified bc not only does my mans keep getting punished, but also isha's sacrifice ultimately meant nothing 💀 then just show singed reworking him so he has his current league design or smth idk
i always had the fantasy of watching Warwick fight Blitzcrank, Singed's mutant vs Viktor's golem. Like what if viktor made blitzcrank as a protector of his comune, and singed used Ww to invade it
6:22 nah, you're wrong about this. She didn't ask them to help take care of her child, she asked them to figure out the independence of Zaun and not to fail. But even if that was the case, it wouldn't take away from the bridge scene, it actually makes it more impactful.
Why is peoples opinions on the show sad to you? :d It ain't that deep. It's a good and entertaining story and visually appealing to many people, lol fans and non lol fans. Not everyone has read all of leagues lore and not everyone get but hurt cuz they didn't just entirely copy-paste leagues old lore in to arcane.
In the original original lore Warwick was kind of Singed 2.0 where he got cursed by Soraka into becoming a werewolf in order to embody his cruel nature. The last decades we see both in cinema and gaming world that the evil characters are being made like that cause society this or society that. An other example of my point is Viktor. Viktor's original lore was the mad scientist who wanted to get rid of his mortality and make himself perfect by his will. In arcane he was a cripple who wanted to make the world better with tech but then smth happened and Jayce led him to become that hexbionic and stuff. What happened to evil being just evil? Why it needs to be so complicated and mnonsencical?
I want villains to exists not just have them be broken ppl that why i like characters like old Singed because that many was evil just because he wanted to just like Jhin but now all the ppl that dont want evil to just be evil writes stories and it only works 10% of the time
It was confirmed by one of the writers of Arcane in a interview that they changed Warwick's design and lore simply because they didn't like the orignal Warwick, which gotta be one of the lamest reasons I've ever heard :/
While I agree with most things in this video 6:23 is incorrect. It isn’t a retcon. Vander knew Jinx’s & Vi mother & father given the fact he pointed to their corpses when they arrive at the bridge.
Singed did it to get ambessas attention bc she can get him all kinds of stuffs that helps his research to bring back his daughter. He succeded in the end.
And also bc warwick/vander had insane healing abilities in his blood. Everything singed did is connected to saving his daughter. Warwick was just another step to his success.
And arcane is canon so what we are seeing in the show that is now the characters new backstory. And i personally thing warwick looked amazing with this more human like appearanve and i loved everything about it. I love this story better then the og ww backstory. But this is my personal opinion again. Let me know what u guys thing.
honestly I was secretly hoping for a twist like Vanwick is the prototype of Warwick, after the events of the story Singed goes on to create Warwick with the knowledge he gained from Vander or something...
I like to think warwick escaped the blast and in the end is left with a damaged body in zaun and then is given help from some chem barons in hiding giving him His league form
I found it annoying how they are trying to turn non-human characters more human, Kindred is a prime example with her skins. It kills their own identity and takes away uniqueness
Arcane is stuck being a show that was meant to establish the world the champions live in and a story that is supposed to have an ending. Characters and characteristics were forced into it because they were required even if they do not make a lot of sense given the story that is being told.
What did we expect? Riot never cared about the lore unless for profit Original writer of Warwick left Riot over a year ago. Arcane is just another hasty retcon to overall lore, while at least 2 champions in game still refer to summoners from 2009 lore We shouldn't get too attached, because riot WILL retcon it again ad infinum
The way singed made him i can only assume was the thought of him being a failed experiment that could be used as a weapon if things were to go to shit, which they kinda did when he was arrested.
People forget that arcane made league of legends lore very PG for the purpose to sell their skins the real league of legends lore is extremely dark which I personally love
The reason singe made warwick a warewolf monster was to use him as a bargaining chip with whoever would be in power after silco. We have seen singe already do this with shimmer. He made shimmer as an experiment to save his daughter but needed resources to do it. For that, he made a deal with silco to also make shimmer a drug weapon to gain control of the lanes. Singe then does the same after silco has died, he needs a new backer to continue his experiments so he creayed warwick as a perfect weapon to sell to whoever could give him what he wanted, that ended up being ambessa. Singe gets his backing from her, he also promises to give her the beast warwick. Then he discovers what Victor has made and thinks he can combine warwick's shimmer to victor to finally find a way to beat death, which he succeeded in Singe had everything planned out and you can see it all in the show if you pay attention to him
I was ready for so damn much. From him becoming another common enemy to both Zhaun and Piltover to him staying somewhat sentient and becoming a horror that hunts down criminals, i was ready for so f*cking much. Not him being thrown away like a boring sidecharacter...
Look, i think you got the wrong idea. I think we are just seeing the middle of the story of Warwick - the point of him going from Vander to Warwick. Why? Well understanding literature and quite literally watching the show. Singed created Warwick as an attempt to see the absolute peak of shimmer, and to see if that will help bring back his daughter - AND as a way in with Noxus. The peak with shimmer was to see how far it can go with regenerating the body, and to see what else was needed to keep it going (hence the wolf stuff like the double heart of the murkwolf needed to pump the blood in the body of vander). Vander is quite literally Frankenstien's Monster and Hyde mashed together. Vander should have died, but since he was barely hanging on - he was basically put on life support to see how far a shimmer infused body could go. From murkwolfs to other beasts and creatures all placed inside of vander as the sole brain - basically being Frankenstien's Monster. If warwick's backstory is still relevant, Vander was still alive and conscious during most of the insane parts. We saw in season 1 that singed didnt care if the person was conscious or had any pain killers - with jinx and rio and others. Here we can infer that Vander was probably conscious and driven insane, becoming more and more beast like. And then the shimmer injectors and such, forcing out his his primal and animalistic urges - he essentially becomes Hyde. Singed got out of this an understanding of what shimmer does to the body, and the fact that beasts probably wouldnt fully help bring back his daughter. But the regenerative source of the blood, that quite literally kept bringing vander back from the dead. Vi's punch literally shattered WW's skull. We can infer that singed has probably done the same. Things that would kill a normal body was nothing for WW. But how many of Vander's memories would be restored from this? Singed - and lesser extent - anyone that has damaged WW enough - has caused him to lose memories of his previous life. Singed would have learned that he is creating something he will eventually not be able to control - but a perfect weapon for someone that needs power. An unkillable beast on a battlefield. Hes already gained everything he could out of WW, now he just needs more funding to help his research into saving his daughter. Well Noxus is there. Well, why not get captured and show what he has and can give to them? Hence releasing WW. Now - Singed has gained "apex shimmer" in his own words, and in essence - a blood that can almost regenerate anything. But now he needs to learn to control the byproduct of the beast and insanity within it. (like what happens when everyone takes it). Well thats where Viktor comes in. He didnt know what Viktor was working on or anything. He only learned about it basically after meeting Viktor, but he knew then he could use it. But thats getting off track. As it is - Is WW dead? No. The fucker can survive an arcane bomb to the face with isha, and come out basically unscratched. watch the episode where ww is brought to heal viktor. WW woke up again after Viktor and Jayce decided to go MIA for the foreseen future. So what happens to WW? Well - hes probably lost a fair bit of his vander memories from when Viktor dying and then taking control. But it is doubtful Viktor burned them all. There are probably fragments remaining, but he probably has become The Monster and Hyde as one. The Monster in Frankenstein doesnt recall his previous life, well now, Warwick only has fragments. He is nothing but Hyde now. What does this mean? well Warwick is now the Warwick we know in game. More than likely, that Bomb that jinx detonated in his face, probably brought about the true monster. Of course he survived it. And whats at the bottom of the tower? Well zaun of course. Setting up him becoming a punisher like character. They said that the Characters are going to be set up to be their league counterparts, close their story out, or to fully rewrite them. WW's new background was made at the same time as the story for Arcane was written. Essentially, Arcane season 2 set up the Warwick we do know.
Of course he is a plot device He was a device for singed to study how to make his daughter live again and, after seeing an opportunity, using it to scare tf out of piltover and have Ambessa see his usefulness at creating weapons of mass murder, just like WW himself AND by an accident on his design, part of the conciousness remains, making it able to recognize Jinx as Powder, and she did what would be just natural to her, try to bring back her father, but since he was designed by Singed to be a weapon, that's his final form, once Singed can finish his work
1 point i disagree with: It does make sense from a biological standpoint for him to have a more human face, because it's a human mutated with a wolf's DNA. Not the other way around.
2:20 i see it as a double value coin. both researching to revive her daugher and developing a weapon to use as a coin to get access to noxus resources to advance his experiments to solve death. Good story by itself, but this is canon and when you go back to the champions we all know and love that felt eternal and realize how everything about them is resolved in a few days….you ponder with how disappointing these champions are…all of them. Every single one of them
Eh. The way I look at this is purely from a show persepective since I don't play league and didn't care at the slightest before the show came out. For me I didn't really care since what were they supposed to do with Warwick. He might not be completely mindless but he is still a beast. Aside from some glorified hunt, his purpose in the story was always to be connected to Vander, Vi and Jinx. Its the same way I look at how Viktor turned out. I get why people hate the new lore or redesing and I do also think the old asthetic and such was cooler but he can't have turned out any different than he did here. He was right at deaths door. The hexcore was the only way for him to survive and it sure as hell wasn't just going to give him prosthetics to work with. Tech mage was always going to be his end point, thw moment he first fused with the core, it was inevitable.
@@TwinklingMysticShot No not really. Like I get this Is Aether punk but the Hex core was created specificaly to do what normal Hex tech can't. He didn't just replace a leg the first time. He also healed his damaged organs. Protesthetics can't do that atleast not with how much time he had left.
@@TwinklingMysticShot I do think they could have done something but aside from the fact that game Viktor was steampunky, Show Viktor never had any obligation to look Like that. Honestly the chances of him turning out like that the moment he first used the core became 0 percent.
the show is a master piece but it doesn't mean its perfect and this video right here shows why. I love warwick's design and lore in the league and is pretty sad how they retconned his story, honestly the start wasnt that bad but how they "ended" his story is. I hope they end up making a movie for arcane's aftermath story (copium)
I kept thinking that vander would for a second be back and then simged seeing this wouldnhave given him a serumto remove his humanity and further mutate him to an actual werewolf like he looks in the game ,instead he became a drone that doesn't speak or express himself
As a Warwick main Im fine with how they portrayed Warwick in act 2, it wasn't what i was expecting but it was good, the problem is act 3 they literally deleted the character just to become one of victors puppets with the ugliest design in the show
Tbh I believe the way did that warwick was beautiful, it wasn’t a nice story, it was a bad one and the way they did it was perfect. Singed weaponizing Warwick could just be said as a way for Singed to survive and still be able to do his experiments since he did use Warwick to try to scape the prison. Warwick in my opinion is supposed to be a tragic tale of complete unfairness, to just show how unfair the world that they live in is. Also, people gotta remember that the story of arcane isn’t the same as the lore written in league, another character they did a drastic change with was Viktor and it was also fine. Yes, Arcane was a series in which it felt like every character had depth, but no one can deny that the main focus was jinx so every other character revolved around her and what im tryna say with that is if warwick felt like a stepping stone for Jinx then there is nothing wrong with that since thats the point of having a main main character in a story.

another victim of the pace of the show and the scale they decided to end on, if they'd kept the scale smaller the pace wouldn't be insane and they'd have more time for stuff like this. They needed a smaller scope and less characters.
The problem was less the pacing, rather how far they wanted to go.
Going from Season 1 establishing a backstory for the champions in the city they live in, to the big arcane-disaster was just too much.
or a couple more seasons
I was hoping Warwick would be Arcane's version of the Hulk, where Vander would constantly switch between a man and a monster, trying to control the switch between the two sides.
Yeah, that would be very interesting. Ww is able of human speech so at least some kind of dialoge would be good, his only line was "powder" and that's it. They could even go for things like how in league pc ww calls Vi a traitor, showing how vander was dissapointed on Vi. There was so much potential but they literally just kill him.
That used to be Mundo's old lore
He was, if you consider how they tamed MCU's Hulk
Bro had a full set of murkwolf jaws and didn't think the man killing beast needed fangs? Weak ahh Singed, where's the man who gassed Ionia
True bro. AND Arcane pretty has confirmed that Singed burning Master Yi's home village never happened.

The more I learn about Warwick the more upset I get about what we got in Arcane
I'll rewrite what I already said about warwick in arcane in a post on r/warwick because I don't really feel like writing everything from scratch:
‘ll give my two cents on Warwick: the creators simply never intended to use Warwick as a character.

In my opinion, Warwick should have been a massive threat looming in the background everyone was scared if he showed up, attacking anyone that was bleeding, and Noxus finds out and tries to weaponize him and Viktors people. This way he can still be used at the end being captured and forced to be part of victors army and subjugated so he can be controlled,
Man thank you!!! Thank you so much! Finally someone criticizes arcane s2 well, something that I really had been looking for
Rushed is the Keyword with season 2. They just couldnt keep it going for a 3rd season or more but chose to cut it short and compress it.
Humanising a monster was a mistake. League has less and less monster characters as it is.
Warwick, Viktor, and Jayce are characters from the great arcane season 1 please don't confuse them with Warren, Vincent, and Jake from this new spinoff show
Ive never been more disappointed in a show more than this.
And upcoming show about noxus could be one that weaponizes warwick and makes him a full furry for fans. Anything can happen.

Unforgivable.

xddddddddddddddddd how dumb are you?
I've made this comment in numerous Arcane Warwick videos. I truly feel that I didn't mind Vander's story even rushed until the automaton redesign. I was under the impression that we were seeing his incomplete transformation, and I thought Isha blowing herself up at that episode would have been the "death catalyst" to finalise his transformation instead of being tossed aside, but alas, I was also disappointed with the outcome.
arcane just had too many characters to juggle within just 9 episodes and its apparent that even the ones that did get the focus still suffered
so i had this thought, that warwick should have been zaun's atom bomb.
As it stands he kind of just gets to go out as a lazy ass miniboss which stings for anyone that loved what he previously stood for.
its made more human to keep it more emotional and id argue that his arcane lore is better than some braindead killer thats my opinion
Btw, Warwick survived. You can see something leaving the explosion jinx made and considering how insanely durable he is, it’s probably Warwick leaving.
i get why they went with the human face because it's easier to convey emotions through microexpressions on a human face than on an animal (not impossible, but probably wouldn't work)
i wanted him to just die and not be robotified bc not only does my mans keep getting punished, but also isha's sacrifice ultimately meant nothing 💀 then just show singed reworking him so he has his current league design or smth idk
i always had the fantasy of watching Warwick fight Blitzcrank, Singed's mutant vs Viktor's golem. Like what if viktor made blitzcrank as a protector of his comune, and singed used Ww to invade it
Loved arcane but I do appreciate a lot when people expose the flaws and the mistakes they did. Nice video, I will wait for the jayce video
As someone who was used to main Warwick in League and was incredibly excited for his introduction in the show, I was really let down by it.
6:22 nah, you're wrong about this. She didn't ask them to help take care of her child, she asked them to figure out the independence of Zaun and not to fail. But even if that was the case, it wouldn't take away from the bridge scene, it actually makes it more impactful.
This was on the back of my mind but I couldnt put into words what I disliked about it. You helped me a lot, thanks
Arcane season 2 is such a disaster it's sad to see people praising it like it was anywhere close to good
and arcane in general.
Because it was good now go cope in silence
@@ryanmatthews3609🤡🤡🤡
Singed has much more layers and depth as a character in Arcane than in LoL
Exactly 👏
And that is very cool for Arcane, but unfortunately there is 0 way to properly fit that onto the Singed that is in the game.
No
In the original original lore Warwick was kind of Singed 2.0 where he got cursed by Soraka into becoming a werewolf in order to embody his cruel nature.
Warwick was producing lava due to sighn's injection.
honestly I was secretly hoping for a twist like Vanwick is the prototype of Warwick, after the events of the story Singed goes on to create Warwick with the knowledge he gained from Vander or something...
I like to think warwick escaped the blast and in the end is left with a damaged body in zaun and then is given help from some chem barons in hiding giving him His league form
@@miller6498 Or he fully tranforms to in game warwick design after the explosion
I found it annoying how they are trying to turn non-human characters more human, Kindred is a prime example with her skins. It kills their own identity and takes away uniqueness
Its mostly due to we needed more seasons of arcane, when we only got 2
The quality of writing fell off a cliff for season 2. Why they thought getting a new writing team was a good idea I'll never know
Viktor is beyond broken and dead in a ditch
Visually arcane wick is better. Hope they rework the model in game
Arcane is stuck being a show that was meant to establish the world the champions live in and a story that is supposed to have an ending. Characters and characteristics were forced into it because they were required even if they do not make a lot of sense given the story that is being told.
What did we expect? Riot never cared about the lore unless for profit
Original writer of Warwick left Riot over a year ago. Arcane is just another hasty retcon to overall lore, while at least 2 champions in game still refer to summoners from 2009 lore
We shouldn't get too attached, because riot WILL retcon it again ad infinum
The way singed made him i can only assume was the thought of him being a failed experiment that could be used as a weapon if things were to go to shit, which they kinda did when he was arrested.
People forget that arcane made league of legends lore very PG for the purpose to sell their skins the real league of legends lore is extremely dark which I personally love
this is very eye opening as someone who doesnt have knowledge of league lore
I'm sad his design didn't have as many wolf features but the design was still cool
I loved designs. I just wish Arcane writers had taken their time...
where is the purple dragon thing Singed was holding into that tube?
Then he discovers what Victor has made and thinks he can combine warwick's shimmer to victor to finally find a way to beat death, which he succeeded in
Singe had everything planned out and you can see it all in the show if you pay attention to him
I was ready for so damn much. From him becoming another common enemy to both Zhaun and Piltover to him staying somewhat sentient and becoming a horror that hunts down criminals, i was ready for so f*cking much. Not him being thrown away like a boring sidecharacter...
It's been 2 weeks now. Where is that jayce video?
arcane: failure of every character
everything felt rushed on arcane2
Warwick is the only thing I dislike in Arcane tbh, especially his design. They could also have shown his humanity while having a wolf face tbh
The writers did vander dirty
Of course he is a plot device
He was a device for singed to study how to make his daughter live again and, after seeing an opportunity, using it to scare tf out of piltover and have Ambessa see his usefulness at creating weapons of mass murder, just like WW himself
AND by an accident on his design, part of the conciousness remains, making it able to recognize Jinx as Powder, and she did what would be just natural to her, try to bring back her father, but since he was designed by Singed to be a weapon, that's his final form, once Singed can finish his work
Poor poor Vander. I hope he didn’t have to see what he became 🫡
1 point i disagree with:
It does make sense from a biological standpoint for him to have a more human face, because it's a human mutated with a wolf's DNA. Not the other way around.
2:20 i see it as a double value coin. both researching to revive her daugher and developing a weapon to use as a coin to get access to noxus resources to advance his experiments to solve death. Also i believe that this singed will still have a purpose to either solve death in a more general way or just experiment and upgrade humanity more similarly to lol singed
He could have gone full steampunk cyborg to save his body too
Or atleast be like 70% cyborg 30% magic
I kept thinking that vander would for a second be back and then simged seeing this wouldnhave given him a serumto remove his humanity and further mutate him to an actual werewolf like he looks in the game ,instead he became a drone that doesn't speak or express himself
what are thoes animated clips with an ingame warwick ? like in 4:46 ? and i dont mean the cinematic
nevermind i found it its from wild rift cinematic
