Yep, I came here to say the same thing. Nobody steals unpowered power armor, but oddly companions have no trouble with it. It is very convenient to have them walk suits of armor back to your base without wasting fusion cores.
@Alcatonic that's what I do. I built 2 warehouses and have them surrounded by a dozen turrets plus I have codsworth anf currie there to guard the place. All this on top of taking the fusion cores out.
I learned this the hard way. I lost my NC quantum power armor because I left it at a settlement with a fusion core in it and I still don't know where it is😢
What probably happened to the armor pieces is they broke while the settler was using the suit. If you select the trade option in the dialogue with them, you should be able to get the pieces back.
Just leave it either in a secure location that npcs cant get to or make sure you have the parts to fix it after it gets used. Or… leave it in a settlement that’s well protected? I leave mine in sanctuary in a secured house and that place is surrounded by walls with turrets lining the street and gated front bridge so nothing is getting in that place unless its in a body bag. NPCs during combat will check their surroundings for better weapons and vacant power armor with cores in them. Hence you display cases and racks are absolutely not safe to display weapons in. I think everyone was either joking or going along with jokes, we all know that if a shop keeper has worn and damaged the power armor the peices can be bought back from the shop vendor.
Hmm. Only did that once. However, what happens if they die in it? Will it be like the other enemies you kill in combat where you can still take their inventory, but the suit is unopenable.

I had full sets of T45, T51, T60 and X01. But I pretty much always wore the T51 and the others where sitting on racks without a core. Guess thats why no one stole em.
The reason this happens is because power armor breaks ridiculously fast on NPCs and companions the guy probably hopped in the power armor while your settlement was being attacked
Power armor breaks ridiculously fast in this game PERIOD. By the F2 lore, 1 mm of silver plating of power armor is built to withstand 200 laser pistol hits at the same spot. In this game one raider can put all your armor to trash in 3 minutes of continuous shooting at you. F4 spits on this series' foundation.
I remember when I first left power armor in a settlement. One of the settlers that I had going on trade routes jumped into it during a raider attack on the settlement. I could never get it off of him. He just walked across the Commonwealth with it on. It was kind of hilarious to be quite honest. I started taking the fusion cores out of them after that.
I usually build a seperate building just for this reason. Use the concrete auto door with a switch, then just disconnect the power wire so the door won't open while you're gone. Works every time.
@KoenigElessar I tried that at the castle, and they still had it out in use. Lol. But i use a lot of crafting mods and mods that change npc's behavior like immersive citizens, etc. That may be my issue. 😂

@@FireBladesGameing well if only the husband could use power armour, you can imagine the field day the ppl who complain about male privilege would have regardless of it making no sense for the wife to know exactly how to operate power armor even if it was a topic of conversation between the husband and the wife
@@FireBladesGameing i know, but alot of companies are becoming increasingly afraid to offend certain groups who would rather see a woman be able to operate the same piece of equipment without any possible prior training lorewise that a male character can plausibly operate because of plausible prior training I will also say that i found it weird that a woman who the game didn't hint at having any prior experience that would lead to power armour and firearm training given that we only know that she was a housewife and the game could have at least given us a bit of backstory to explain why the wife also has these capabilities as realistically someone without prior firearm training would be killed by the first raider that come their way, at that point and without prior power armour training, would not be able to kill one of the apex predators of the wasteland, the character selection at this point doesn't feel like choose the male or the female, but rather choosing between a believable character and a mary sue In reality, given the backstories of the characters, they should have made it so you could only play as the husband if they didn't want to give a believable backstory to the wife that addresses these capabilities that the player character has

Just pick pocket the core from them. Or transfer them to a settlement with no other settlers and kill them. (Might wanna save though, haven't played in a year so don't know if the settlers that know them will get aggro or not) Power Armor frames really aren't that expensive especially if you have a bunch of water purifiers. (You can buy frames from shopkeepers in the junk section, it's looks like a piece of paper) (Saying this because once you kill someone in power armor you can't keep the frame) I know the Brotherhood sells them. Also do npcs ignore charge one they get a core? It's gotta run out eventually.
That usually happens because of Bethesda code, the armor is being misplaced when you leave the cell of which the power armor is in and worn, happens with companions too, if you check their inventory it should all be there
The trick is to use a prefab warehouse/shed. Park all your power armor in it with a work bench. Then, just throw a wall up in front of the entrance. if the npc dont have the armor it will show up in workshop as 0 durability
Just don't park then with the fusion cores in. It's that simple and 100% effective. Why isn't anyone mentioning this?
The armor didn’t go anywhere it’s just broken if you check the suits inventory it’ll still be there just gotta repair it and reequip it
Yeah I’m almost certain he’s well aware and is just getting views cause of all this fallout attention
@@Paragonoflazinessit’s till cool that this happens in general. Not everyone knows this
Like I said, may the NPC get it and be some mistakes in code your armor has gone
@@karelcruzporto1672 then talk to the npc. The only places it could be are on the power armor frame or in the npc inventory. You can always trade with settlers
Not always.
I had a Settler put on my X-01 armor when we got attacked by a Deathclaw. I forgot to ask the settler out and fast travelled when I was back, not even the helmet remained. It all was despawned.
Since then I always have a settlement that only houses Dogmeat, Codsworth and my power armor.
I also drop my shit there since Settlers can also take stuff from containers and is a pain in the ass having to go through their inventories looking for whoever took your stash of chems.
Bros doing the farming in a power armour😂he can carry way more tomato’s though…
That’s why my huge power armor collection has all the fusion cores removed
I love how he’s standing there looking at you like he didn’t just drain all of the armor 😂
Expecting the whole trouble to just go away
Thats why i always leave my power armor on top of a building or something but never on the floor
If that happened to me I would’ve recreated 23/10/77 in that settlement
There’s more than 12 months?!
@@Kai-1138lol
Armor is there. Just dmged and sitting in setter inventory.
