Holy smokes! What an eye opening video! I tend to get on my toes on the downswing. I fight hard to get my weight on my lead heel. As a result, I wind up flipping at the ball.
Thank you Thank you Thank you. This is what I find myself doing. I never would’ve guessed that the weight shift to the toes was causing me to swing over the top and outside in.
I am glad it helped! I see this "unseen" issue a lot with players. The reason why a lot have a hard time self diagnosing is the fact that most just focus on the upper body when in a lot of cases the lower body is the cause of the upper bodies movements. Keep me updated on your journey!
WOW! Just got back from practicing and this was IT! It took a few minutes to get used to it but when I did I started to hit little draws. I also filmed myself and the over the top move was basically gone. Thank you very much @TJValentineGolf. Wish there was a way to tip you here.
With any small or large change in your patterns it does take some time for the body to self organize itself if done correctly. I am glad it helped! Keep me updated on your progress.
I just realized you are TJ from Big Break 4! I have a question. Can you elaborate a bit more on getting the club stuck too far inside on the takeaway? I struggle with this and for the life of me cannot correct it. Also, I would be interested in some remote lessons if you do that. Thanks for reading. Jon from South Carolina
Hi Jon, yes. Almost 20 years ago now! Crazy how fast time flies. I’ll film a video trying to answer your question. Keep an eye out for that. Yes, I coach a lot of players remotely. If you are interested please either reach out to me via Instagram @TJValentineGolf or my contact form on my website. I am also going to be doing some via my new Patreon. Thanks again for watching it is appreciated!
Excellent explanation. I have had my struggles over the years with balance in my swing. How much do the type of shoes play a role in this? I understand its more of the person but I would assume certain shoes would be helpful? or maybe I'm overthinking.
No you are not overthinking at all. Shoes can absolutely play a role in this to a degree. I have actually done research on this in the past. Maybe I’ll put something together and film on this topic.
@@sundaygolfer it is definitely a part of it but there are other factors that change the geometry of impact such as lie angle of the club. When the ball is above your feet the lie angle becomes more upright which points the face more left. Thanks for watching!
11:20 love the tightrope analogy. Makes total sense.
Ive done the tight rope thing only 300' over a gorge at night👍😃 one of the best videos ive seen on over the top.👍
I’m getting anxiety just thinking of that! Amazing! I appreciate the comment.

@@TJVGolf Thank you for the reply
very informative, took a lot of translation because I'm a left handed player haha
I am glad you got a lot out of it! I’ll make it easier in the future for all the lefties out there!
Really good videos by the way. New subscriber.

Is this the reason I hit the ball better when I am on a side hill pulling me back?
