This looks so much like my Years of lessons with Mike Bender who is Zach Johsnons coach down in Florida.... lol I spent thousands of hours during college golf working on this stuff and am a master at hitting big push draws.. Now I work with Dana and were working on a happy medium and picked up all the speed I left on the table those years.. Glad Jerome is going this way first then he can go standard deviation
Some here question Jerome's pursuit of a tour-caliber swing. I applaud it, and enjoy seeing how far science has brought us from Cochran's "Search for the Perfect Swing". Those who suggest he"just play" or work on the short game (best, or only, option for us aged hackers) ignore how improvements in ball striking make new course strategies possible - for those willing to do the work. "Hogan's Alley" on the Olde Course wasn't named that because Ben was lucky - he dug for and found his "secret in the dirt".
It’s so difficult for a novice player, who started playing late, to build a swing without going mechanical until the correct movement patterns are ingrained.
Bro Jerome, you should tee off w 3 wood from now on, Put your driver away. You have enough power to blast your 3 wood. It should be much better of a fairway finder tee shot for you vs your driver. You can really stand out as a 3Wood KING!
Still waiting to see the improved contact. Must be the most over-complicated way to teach golf. Why not start with a simple swing and work your way into more technical?
This dude seems more like finishing school. It's like taking someone in 4th grade math and going into calculus. None of what he's saying is really wrong but it's nothing this dude can put into useful practice..
Yeah I'm going to keep getting that until it's drill in my head haha, but always some more gold nuggets here and there I just never would have thought of that helps me with those core principles.
I’m a high handicapper, for me it feels like I rotate with pressure never going beyond the inside of my trail foot. It then feels like I’m sitting down while turned away from the target. Next I feel like my hips start to open and when I start the downswing it feels like my chest still faces away from the target and it’s not until I release the club does it feel like my chest rotates open. The overall feel is that I feel like I’m swinging with my back to the target. Does that sound about right?
everything dana is saying is actually correct. but it's way beyond your level of comprehension for now. it will probably "click" like 2 years down the line. you should check out porzak golf down in san diego. he really simplifies the golf swing to achieve all the things dana is saying to do by doing a little hip "bump" at setup (reverse K) and just turn and burn. he also helps create leverage with the 45 degree hinge/turn takeaway. just try seeing some of his videos. it works for 99 percent of all golfers i truly believe. transformed my swing for the better
You know that on the course you play golf not golfswing... Even with the best coaches in the world you won't score well until you just play. Good luck!
I've heard this many times when I started golfing. Wish I didn't listen to it than.. now I'm 50 and athleticism is not saving my swing faults and have no "base" fundamentals to lean on.. basically an old dog learning new tricks. New players keep playing "golf swing"
Fren. I followed you awhile when you're quite new. I'm not sure why your posture and swing changed to not any better since you started the journey. Fall back to basic and focus on club face impact. Golf swing is not supposed to be complicated but natural if you understand the club face striking purpose. The iron club and head are designed for a purpose. Once you understand the actual club face square impact, it will lead to others naturally. 101%. Occasionally you can't execute properly because all your restricted movements are reacting to the post club face contact sub consciously.
Naw man, he needs to learn how to hit the perfect golf swing every time smack it hard and draw shot! There is like zero assessment of how to alter your swing from different lies, which is possibly THE most important thing for actually playing. God help him!
The biggest question with all this mechanics your putting yourself through, is... " are you any better at scoring and playing the game? Seems to me all your doing is learning how to be a robot. Is there any true enjoyment you have in this ? Is there any net result that translates to dropping scores on the course. All I see is blaa blaa blaa... move your elbow a quarter inch in move your knee before your waist, Bryson does this and rory does that. Your swing is definitely better than when you started the journey, but where's it all going. Mini tours in your future? What's the goal. Scratch golf isn't achieved on a driving range. Conquering your emotions when your playing a match is what makes a real scratch golfer.
Your swing is fine at this point. This whole video is WAY OVERCOMPLICATED. theres no way you can retain this information nor do you need it. TBH - most of the video you dont look like you understand anything he is saying (and why should you?). This would only confuse 99.9% of people. Hou are trying to break 85 consistently at this point. This would be too much information even for a professional golfer. I think you are good enough to just go golf and get some fitted clubs. Anything else is kind of a waste of money at this point.
Idk. Dana is very technical, but even as a beginner this stuff with him the last several months has (proportionately) skyrocketed my swing. This drill is teaching Jerome to put more pressure on the lead leg and not try to over rotate with his upper body.
@@ricoxkiller fair enough. i appreciate the details of the video and the instructor but jerome looked a little lost for most of that video (although his swing and strikes looked good IMO)
Just do a simple thing, go and watch what Butch Hartman and Peter Cowen, then spend more time on the course for the games, that's it. don't waiste your time on this guy.
How can anyone possibly remember 1,000 tweaks? I would rather master the basics. This is probably fine if you have 8 hours a day to hit golf balls and watch video.
A lot of people leave this reply but you are way over complicating things. I get that it makes great content to dive into details and that you love information but it gets frustrating seeing Dana tell you the three same things over and over again. Pressure on the right not a sway, turn the face down earlier than you think, then let it go with speed and be athletic. I've left comments before but don't know if you have read them. Hopefully you see what I left below but I doubt you will now that there're thousands of replies to filter through. One thing I noticed is your head and neck are pushed very forward in your setup and swing. I would love some actual practice/range session videos. Lastly, you just need to do swings with physical barriers in the way, actual drills instead of just talking with Dana.
There is zero chance i could play golf for at least 3 months if i had a lesson like this, and I play to a pretty decent standard. Go work on your short game.

Saw you practicing at the range today. Swing looks pretty good. Do you ever play that course or just use the range?
Tuanks for posting the Sportsbox numbers in these videos, Dana! 👍🏻👍🏻

Great stuff! All fundamentals!
"I don't know what that means but sounds good though" haha Dana is hilarious..
Hahaha yeah
Man you are overthinking every movement every angle. You are athletic, you have fundamentals, you have understanding… it’s time to just golf your ball
It’s so difficult for a novice player, who started playing late, to build a swing without going mechanical until the correct movement patterns are ingrained.
Where can I watch the tournament?
Dang, the wrist flexion just blew my mind.
Same!

Same advice every episode, turn and sit, stop leaning to the right, flexion etc etc 😂

Does that sound about right?
Another day on the journey. Great commercial for the Caddie AI. Hope it is very successful for you.
Thanks! If interested check out the video description to reach out how to secure a spot :)
Actually is SportsBox Ai
Does anyone else feel like Dana's teaching style is similar to someone who just took shrooms before the lesson?
Clicked off the Major Cut video from Grant Horvat to watch this.
That actually means a lot :)
@@JeromeRufin I did too... access to Dana the way you do it is unparalleled. Ty

Golf swing gaming is better than try to hit the ball gaming. Especially when saying $50+ dollars to fail. The ball gets in the way.

2:42 he thinks your shaft looks fine
pause
LOL
You should spend more time using a putting coach and short game coach instead

All of you Dana "critics" should go take a couple of lessons from Dana. I have and he's helped my game immensely
Let’s gooo!
