We have plans to post more vidoes like this, but will also be carving out some time to film additional educational content with Dr. Rose and Dave Phillips. Is there anything you'd like them to cover with regards to instruction, biomechanics or training?
Common limitations - either around flexibility, strength, or speed in specific areas - and some common downstream effects in the golf swing that can arise as a result
Would love to see some local vs global biomechanics discussions when it comes to different body types, limb length ratios, height, etc. I’m 6’4” and have always wanted to see what happens to the data around mechanics and forces if the “pga tour average” data set was refined down to just players around my height, body type. Like do all the taller efficient tour pros tends to do more of x pattern vs shorter efficient tour pros do more of y pattern.
Generally, I suggest the “root cause” based starting point (the same way Greg starts with his physical screening) because this channel is uniquely equipped to tie golf outcomes all the way back to their physiological roots, and is therefore uniquely able to equip golfers with the knowledge to better understand the “why” behind certain “what”s, and “how” they can go about moving forward. Diametrically opposed to the clickbaity, “this one move will fix your XYZFLAW” TH-cam video that never mentions an even a single (out of many possible) “why”s.
@@l33tLXlove this idea. What do we tend to see with people with long limbs short torso? Short legs long torso? Height variation? Etc. Could be a whole series (so could my other suggestion)
Absolute Genius! I love how thouguts are conveyed to students yet breaking the mold on popular beliefs od what's "normal". Incredible instruction....enough said. Love it.
Loving these! As a 74 year old and started playing golf at 45, and with pinched nerve (s) in cervical spine, I had some of my best scores this year. 2 under for nine holes. Several nine hole rounds under 40. I'd like to see some analysis of older amateurs who have some physical limitations.
Love this content. It's really helping me take all the bits of theory I know and apply it to the swing. To become a student of my own swing. Thank you, keep it coming.
Love this type of content, it's like the TopGear for Golfers :D you can learn so much about the "cars" and "pilots". As a PT and new TPI fitness trainer, this is amazing to watch and learn about the golf world. The way Greg explains the concepts so that everyone understands them is gold. Would love to see more about Strengthening the frames of golfers/athletes.
A great and educational video. It must be soo good to have all these tools available to any up and coming player to hone their skills. I regret now never getting a lesson in my 45 years playing golf. Might be time to get a lesson. Good luck to this young lady. I hope she fulfils her dream.
Thank you for explaining the centripedal force vs strength. I always wondered why grip strength and upper body strength had such an impact on clubhead speed.
I’d love to see a video of actual exercises and stretches and drills to fix the most common Weaknesses and imbalances you commonly see. That to me is fascinating to learn how to address these issues . I’m a ne viewer and LOVE these videos and you are soo good at what you do !! Thank you so much .
Best advise I’ve ever heard from a goal coach , no doubt that if they heed that advise this young lady will be a serious contender , if I could add one extra element to creating the perfect young player is physiological resilience , have a sports phycologist early in their career so that they have coping mechanisms when things inevitably dont go to plan . Scotty is the best player on the planet not due to his swing as there are many players with technically better swings than his own , but because his mental attitude is so strong .
Your videos are top notch, great information, helps a lot teaching, thank you very much Dr.Rose! One question: do you actually also want a player, after weight shift and rotation to quickly stop the front foot (slamming on the brakes) to get the "cracking whip " effect - like Fred Couples did with a "stomping" of left heel followed by rotation of the hip and then by strongly blocking his left leg to cause an acceleration of arms and clubhead through impact.
Yes! So easy to fall into that trap too. Thought Greg put it well here: prioritize passion, then development and then competition, but only for the sake of learning
Would be fun to do a progression series with a good mid 40 yr old player amateur player. First episode would be your standard screening and swing assessment. You could have one or several subsequent episodes of the work that player then goes through on both the physical and golf swing side. Final episode would be a follow-up screen and assessment to see if the work actually translated into tangible results. As it so happens, I am a mid 40 year old low index player with a swing speed around 108 mph that would love to volunteer for such a series :). Think it would make for great content.
Massive amount of knowledge and experience right there. Butch Harmon was right at that time when said coaches must be TPI certified, it's mandatory. Btw how much do your team charge for a daily session like this ?
The chest throw and throw laying on the floor should be in the 18-22 feet range with a 4kg ball. What is the target for the rotational throws? Same 4kg ball? Thanks for your great content 👍
Great content! I would love to see more detail on creating a bigger moment arm. You dealt with it briefly on one video, but it's not clear to me how to do that with an iron swing if the upper hub is supposed to be over the lower hub (Dana Dahlquist expression) on the downswing that many top teachers advocate.
Would love to see some junior PHV stuff ,did a essay on my pga training and it’s super interesting be good to see how you measure this and maintain this over a period of time and how you deal with growth spurts and managing strength and technique
Greg mentions that he cares about minimum threshold strength levels and that you can almost get too strong and it can have problems-is this just for juniors or is it for all ages? The only thing I can think of is possibly a mobility (e.g. olympic lifters tend to have less hip IR) or elasticity issue. Or would it be something like diminishing returns on golf performance (e.g. going from 500 to 600 deadlifts is not worth injury risk / working on speed would probably be more efficient for increasing power for this hypothetical golfer)?
This would be a great video to show all junior golfers especially the last 10 minutes when talking about what to focus on. I’ve volunteered around junior tournament and at it’s amazing the physical size difference at that age and how it changes by the time they are in high school and even in college. The very “best” at 13 a lot of times are not the best at 17 or 18. Focus on getting better and not the plastic trophy you get !
we coach a number of players who have sponsorships with other equipment companies. Out of respect for their relationship, we try to avoid using their names in our content.
Good safe advice for her age group, I’m sure if the kid herself wants to succeed she will, if tho it’s only the parents that want success through her… perhaps not.
If I have to critique this exercise, it would be that, imo, all this information could be a bit overwhelming for her, and coupled with the constant mentioning of her assessments is under the average on many areas, could be detrimental. I would have said that she has these problems, but that is common that young players have problems with various aspects, but there are ways to rectify this, rather than make her feel that she is the only one with these problems. I am sure if one would test e.g. top five rated tennis players, there would be many areas of difference which makes every player unique, but not necessarily predicts who is the nr 1 player.
Way too technical. Golf is still a right brain activity. Start engaging the left and you will start to actively hamstring yourself in one way or another. Seen it a million times - Nick Faldo, Lydia Ko or develop the yips like Johnny Miller. Learn it - then forget it.
These are honestly the best golf videos on the net, absolutely love these long form stories, I could watch them for hours.
Very much appreciate that... Will keep them coming!
100%
Love the “bed side manner” here. Such a great communicator. Not to mention the excellent knowledge.
We have plans to post more vidoes like this, but will also be carving out some time to film additional educational content with Dr. Rose and Dave Phillips. Is there anything you'd like them to cover with regards to instruction, biomechanics or training?
Specifically: lower body mobility and engagement, particularly for senior players. Generally: application of this vast knowledge for seniors. Thanks!

I can't get enough of these videos, the intel is off the charts good. Greg is a master teacher and even better communicator.
Thank you so much... Very lucky to work with people like Greg and Dave
This is so rad. Love the app idea sharing the data with the young player. Gets them thinking about the more technical side of the game.
This dude is solid. Not many like him covering all the bases. A real special talent. What an asset. Thank you for your content.
This guy is actually amazing. So we'll spoken and intelligent. Can see how passionate he is about this!
Absolute Genius! I love how thouguts are conveyed to students yet breaking the mold on popular beliefs od what's "normal". Incredible instruction....enough said. Love it.
Can't wait to see her back in a year. What a beautiful swing. 👍
By far the best golf instruction video. Ever serious golfer male of female of any age needs to watch this.

Amazing long form content - more of this please
As a golf coach these are my favourite videos on TH-cam, so much valuable information
I want to see the sequel in a year 😀
Calling it now she's gonna be 4 inches taller and ripped lol
Love this content. It's really helping me take all the bits of theory I know and apply it to the swing. To become a student of my own swing. Thank you, keep it coming.
Will do! Always appreciate the feedback!
Long form content! THANK YOU!!

Great information! Hope to see her winning in a few years!
Thank you Dr Greg for the nuggets you share! You are the best!🙏🙏🙏
I think she is coming out to the tour pretty soon.
I need to go to the gym.
Amazing content!!! Longer the better!!!
These insight sessions are great to watch, more like this!
great info. my 13 yo daughter is playing HS golf. I will use this info over the winter for next season..
More informative than my own lessons i paid for

Absolutely... And definitely an area that competition / tournaments can help develop!
This vidéo is SO good ! Thank you for sharing it !

This is such an incredible channel. The perfect anecdote to clickbait youtube "lessons" and "secrets".
Dr Greg is at another level-- unbelievable!!!!!!
All around great information. Thank you for the video.
as a parent of a 13year old junior golfer this was great to see, we do get caught up in the win now
Because all these golf parents are just living through their children
Yes! So easy to fall into that trap too. Thought Greg put it well here: prioritize passion, then development and then competition, but only for the sake of learning
Excellent! Future star with the best coaching
Great as always! 👏

Thousands...most over coached sport in the world
At 24:00 minutes you can feel dads proudness when Dr. Greg said there’s nothing wrong with your swing and don’t change it… that smile said it all .
Saw that as well. Such a cool moment. Really can't overstate what an impressive kid Ananyaa is. They have good reason to be proud parents
The chest throw and throw laying on the floor should be in the 18-22 feet range with a 4kg ball. What is the target for the rotational throws? Same 4kg ball? Thanks for your great content 👍
Great advice, wish i knew all that wisdow and knowledge very long time ago!

Ok, will dive into that for sure. We touched on it, but didn't talk about ways to improve moment arm. Thanks for the feedback.

great tests
awesome videos. would love to see a good KFT player overlayed with like a Rocco Mediate
Beautiful swing!
It sure is!
@ video was incredible, man if she gets her strength up she’s going to be a problem.
how do you go about getting assessment with Dr Rose?
Would love to see what the app/instructor gave as a blueprint to get where they want her.
Greg mentions that he cares about minimum threshold strength levels and that you can almost get too strong and it can have problems-is this just for juniors or is it for all ages? Great video, love all the data. If I was able to do all those tests etc all my results would be red, he’d be like dude give it up 🤣

Can normal golfers go through this entire process or is it only for professionals? Is this the only facility where you can do this full assessment?
Great video as per usual.
Would be curious to know who the player was whose name was being censored when discussing chipping comparisons
I believe he said Jon, as in Rahm.

Is the AI in the app available to the consumer market?
Good safe advice for her age group, I’m sure if the kid herself wants to succeed she will, if tho it’s only the parents that want success through her… perhaps not.
Do you ever assess seniors?
I'd love to do something like this but I'm UK based, anyone know anywhere this side of the pond???
You can search for a TPI Certified here. They can take you through a physical screen and more, depending on what tech they have www.mytpi.com/experts
brilliant
I think a blueprint for how to swing a club from either zero knowledge or near zero knowledge would be really helpful to some starting the game.
What app do you use?
Fantastic
Great assessment. Would love to do this just to see how bad i am.
Highly recommend finding someone in your area who can take you through a physical assessment! www.mytpi.com/experts
Where can the average Golfer go to get tested somewhat like this, to help their game?
"If you want to hit your 8 iron farther, its called your 7 iron." Wasn't advice for me but I'm gonna take it.
Senior golf please
God yes!
Good grief! Her lag and the way she accelerates the club is incredible.
She's wildly talented.
I feel like the lat test was not as good as it could be.
she looked like she wasn't going max, absolute max explosive effort is strange if you have never done it before

I wish i was young and flexible 😂
Looks like dad wanted to be a golf pro

This kid is in a golf lab while I'm here celebrating breaking 100
Obvious that she only puts in about 60 percent effort in many of the more strenuous tests
You guys need to do some amateur every day golfers!
For sure. The Body Swing Connection is generally even more obvious with weekend warriors.
I volunteer! 😂
These TPI vids are so good.
If this young woman didn't have intense pressure to perform, this video won't help that.
Did he really say monkey see monkey do ?
Cant assess the x factor in golf.
But can she park a cyber truck. Yep I said it. You were thinking it. But dang she's got a good cover.
Rina Kawasaki is better 😁
Greg rose, I believe in, don’t need parents butting in
She needs to be left alone, live her life. children have no business being forced into competition with seasoned pros. It destroys them.
A bit too handzy.
Fabulous video.
