Where Can We Live After Earth?

  • Solar weather affects Earth's weather. Ample motivation to operate a fleet of satellites to monitor Sol's behavior.
    As scientists and astronomers peer more closely and with evermore fidelity at nearby stars, they are discovering countless exoplanets. How many Earth-like planets are out there? Could one of them hold life not so different from our own?
    The night sky is a time machine. The further we look out into the universe, the further back in time we reach. Most of what we see is actually dark matter and dark energy, but its nature eludes us... for the moment.

    Pretty good vid, but I really wish these docu channels would list original air dates in the description text so we have an idea of how outdated they are: Just passed 21:00, and the audio has just mentioned both JWST still on the ground *AND* 2017 as a date in the future!

      @theepicraccoon4589 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I agree. I want some relevant stuff lol. Some channels I like that aren't really documentaries but more like discussions are Isaac Arthur, Event Horizon, Cool Words, Fraser Cain

      @justlucky8254 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Same. I've watched multiple videos lately that seem really new but they all mention the JWST being built or that hopefully it will be active "in the next few years", etc.

    Hello, a question I am asking about the charged particules that arrive from the sun. If these particules have a mass, I think they do, why are they not driven back to the sun by the enormous gravity force ?

    • @jimmywrangles
      @jimmywrangles 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      The suns gravity isn't anywhere near strong enough to stop them. For that we require black holes.

    This is a very good compilation of 3 episodes of topics: 1) search for exoplanets, 2) our Sun, and 3) cosmology. (In spite of the "title", this is NOT about humans moving to other planets.) Each is clearly narrated, with great CGI and actual videography. I think this would be a great video for someone just starting to learn about space science and research, or to review it. It is a bit dated, however, and seems to date from about 2015. For example, when discussing satellites at the L1 Lagrange point, the DSCOVR was not present. (DSCOVR was launched in 2015!) DSCOVR stands for Deep Space Climate Observatory, with its most important purpose being to monitor space weather. Still, this is a great compilation.

    Oh no we didn't take care of this planet, we have been poor attendance we don't deserve another planet to mess up. This Earth was the most beautiful place we could possibly have and not many people really keep their own home clean or show respect. Why would we go to another planet just to mess it up too.

    • @radman1136

      It's not about "deserve". That's an artificial construct of our imagination. We are going extinct because all species do. That's how it works. We are not moving. That really isn't an option. We are not even special in having caused our own demise. That's already been done lots of times.

Just trying to accelerate that much would cause the electrons of your atoms to start hitting each other and explode… let alone what it would do to your bodies cells… you would be exposed to 10’s of thousands of “G’s”… even worse even if you did make it somewhere it would either be sterile and it would take billions of years to establish life, or if “life” was there (not likely) what ever virus like things evolved there would kill you almost instantly… and yet, almost everyone believes we will go somewhere.

    A click-bait title question left unanswered. This was filmed more than five years before being posted to TH-cam. JWST was still scheduled for launch in 2018. So this is old stuff. Interesting, but old. In all truth, they could have focussed within our own solar system to address the question they asked, but they didn't. They are only interested in astronomy, and only incidentally in planets ... not at all in the human colonization of space. Click-bait.

    Venus is in our Solar system everyone agrees since it orbits our Sun. The surface characteristics are so different from the Earth since technically it’s also in The Goldilocks zone. Perhaps it’s young geologic age suggest that it may once have been an exoplanet that was captured by our Sun . it spins backwards and it has a very slow orbit of the Sun. Is there a way to run a computer simulation backwards to try and see if it came from ORION which a tribe in Africa claims they had visitation from aliens from there and they correctly described the Star composition of ORION constellation WITHOUT any technology. Just trying to open minds to this possibility on this channel that discusses exoplanets when we may have one in our backyard hiding in plain sight!
