Magellan wins bro... The fact remains he solod the blackbeard pirates Pre-TimeSkip(PTS) and to me the PTS blackbeard pirates are stronger then current Brook. Therefore it stands to reason he can still beat brook.
That's not how power or power levels in particular work in abime or real life. Enel was way stronger than all the strawhats together but lost. Crocodile was stronger than Luffy but lost. You can't just win a fight because you lift 20 Kg more than your opposite, because there are many variables.

At one point Luffy does actually acknowledge this. He straight up says he should have died multiple times if not for those around him. I can't remember exactly who it was off the top of my head without looking it up. But I'm 75% sure it was Arlong.

Just realized how many resistances Brook has. Cold, Fire, Lightning and poison don't affect him. Getting decapitated also does nothing. Pretty sure only blunt attacks work on him and slashing to some degree.
You forgot Luffy's closest brush with death in the whole series: The whirlpool in Chapter 2.
Luffy didn't bend over to pick up the Vivre card. He already collapsed from exhaustion and then noticed the card drop from his clothes.
You forgot about the very first time:
Eating Shanks’ food without asking, then almost getting eaten and costing the man an arm.
Shanks doesn’t just have the Sign of Presence, he straight up can see the future if he was able to have the patience of not strangling that little boy with the one arm he had left.

You forget about how Kaido dealt Luffy the death blow because of that CP0 agent's interference.
Yeah but Luffy came back in Gear 5 without any intervention, so it was still by his own power. So it wasn't a moment he "should've died" and got bailed out by someone else, which is what this list is supposed to be.
That scene could also be seen as Luffy actually dying and being resurrected, so it doesn't count as a 'should have died' through that lens

I honnestly wouldn't be shocked if extreme luck( like Takaba in JJk or any other cartoon or gag character in anime) was part of his power. So this video actually really made sense. Luffy has unusual plot armor to the sense that it's not plot armor anymore but cartoon/ gag characteristics!
That was actually my original assumption of what Gear 5 was about before I'd fully understood it. I thought that it was some kind of lucky divine protection that was hinted at when Luffy's execution was halted at Loguetown.

This is why Luffy should always top those lists of anime characters that need the most help to win.
Sure, when it comes down to the fights Luffy tends to ultimately take care of business on his own. But in so many situations he never would have been able to survive long enough to get there if it weren't for others picking up his slack for being so stupid. Seriously, eating the poison fish was so frustratingly dumb, especially because everyone told him not to do it right away
Even in some fights, he needed others to win in the end. In Dress Rosa, the people needed to give him 10 minutes, so he can recover his Haki. And against Kaido others had to step in because First he ran out of juice again, then he was thrown off onigashima and then he needed his fruit awakening to get revived.
But i think people often say that about other anime characters, because there are some, that need help many times. I mean i would argue, that naruto was only able to do most of things he did because of kurama. Kurama and his fox chakra alone carried him through normal naruto, and even in Shippuden he heavily was in need of his jinjuriki chakra. (I dont want to say, that this is a bad thing, i mean it was forced onto him, so why dont use it but after he accepted this he relied on it. But maybe this isnt the best comparison)
@@darkcartman2826Naruto is a bit of a weird case because Kurama's presence is both hugely beneficial to his capabilities in a fight while also a hindrance to developing his own strength. Definitely a net gain in the end, but hard to say how Naruto's skills would've developed without a tailed beast messing up his chakra control early on.

DON'T FORGET the time Luffy almost drowned at Enies Lobby by trying to take a flimsy rowboat to the bridge of hesitation, and had it not been for the arrival of Chimney & Gonbe, he would've died. Unlike other times when Luffy almost drowned, none of his crew were there to see him fall. He easily, EASILY could've died if C&G hadn't found his location by accident at that time.
It’s interesting how many of these are pre time skip vs post time skip. Part of that is the number of antogonists is more pre time skips since arcs are shorter, but I think it’s also an indiviation of how luffy’s will and determination had to essentially make up for his lacking strength in certain pre time skip situations. During the time skip and throughout post time skip, we see his strength is enough in most situations and so therefore his “risks” are not as often, to the point of near death
I think there's one more instance that was forgotten!
Rob Lucci almost got Luffy killed twice. Once on Water 7, where if he hadn't been found in time, Luffy would have been consumed by Aqua Laguna while stuck between buildings.
And then there's right after beating Lucci, Luffy could not move and escape the oncoming Buster Call without Merry suddenly emerging to whisk everyone away.
I have to clerify this heavily. Luffy didnt go to the ground with the purpose of picking the vivre card back. His energy hormones stop effecting. Jimbei even says on the same panel "youre at your limits" his legs literallly gave out. And considiring all the dmg, healing from poison and other abuse. Its no wonder.
Hm. I always took it as that Luffy was so mentally exhausted from all the fighting, hormone injections, and lack of rest that he did stop to pick up the vivre card, unable to comprehend how little importance it had in that moment.
@@ZigTheHunter if i dont remember it wrong. In the anime its more clear. He falls to his knees. And is gasping for air. Then card falls and in tired stooper and being too exchausted to move he reaches out for the card
@@makepr you’re absolutely right. I just rewatched the scene and this is exactly what happened. He tries to run back to Ace and from exhaustion collapses to his knees and is gasping for air. He notices the card, the very thing his beloved older brother told him to never lose and instinctively, without thinking reaches out for it.

I think a lot of his death moments being undone by friends or people who believe in him for one reason or another makes a lot of sense thematically. Against Arlong, he even says that he needs his friends' help so that he can do what he needs to keep them safe. (Paraphrasing)

As the protagonist, Luffy has plot armor protecting him, though I do like how it's acknowledged by other characters how Luffy has a knack for surviving the seemingly impossible. His involvement in the Paramount War is a good example, since they think Luffy would just be swept up and overwhelmed through it all, but he managed to (just barely) survive everything he went through during that Saga. It's clear that Destiny has plans for Luffy in this world...
...Of course, that doesn't mean some of the times Luffy does manage to miraculously survive near-death encounters feel a bit more annoyingly contrived than others. For me, the most glaring examples are two back-to-back scenarios where Luffy comes close to death but manages to survive by sheer happenstance, and it's both on the way to Totto Land to get Sanji back from Big Mom. First, Luffy eats one of Carrot's carrots, which angers Carrot enough to bit him *on the neck*. Once she calms down, it's pointed out that she just barely missed his jugular vein, which would have basically been instant death for Luffy. Then later one, they catch a massive fish whose skin is deadly poisonous, yet Luffy is so hungry he eats all of the fish's skin (and ONLY its skin, if I recall correctly, which is weird). Despite the natural antibodies he gained form his encounter with Magellan, the poison he ingested is enough to kill a giant and is slowly overtaking him, and Nami and Chopper are all crying out how he's supposed to be the King of the Pirates and can't die here, when who should show up but Reiju, who JUST SO HAPPENS to have a power that lets her suck out and eat poison, saving Luffy. Individually, these would be noticeable near-death moments for Luffy, but the fact that they were so close together really annoyed me when reading it. Of course, any time Luffy almost dies because of his own stupidity but survives because he's meant for greater things tends to get on my nerves; like it's one thing if Luffy made a knowing risk on his life for something that matters, that's one thing, but the fact that he constantly throws caution to the wind and often puts himself and his crew in danger as a result... Well, you know, it's not nearly as big a problem as I'm making it out to be, so I shouldn't really complain all that much.
Buggy was the only one who has managed to make Luffy admit defeat. Even Kaido never achieved that. The best he ever got was “if this fails I’ll lose”

It's kinda funny that Luffy keeps almost dying from poison when he's supposed to have built up an immunity to nearly all poisons as a result of recovering from Magellan's poison. It's almost as if Oda forgot about that.

Okay, so if the series thus far is an accurate predictor for the future, there is a 100% chance Luffy will get poisoned any time he ends up in an actual prison (I feel like it's necessary to make the distinction of an ACTUAL prison, because there have been plenty of times when he's ended up in cages that were NOT part of any actual prison that he managed to get out of it without any poison exposure).
Also, you omitted the time Crocodile locked him (and others) in a sea prism stone cage in a flooding room filled with banana gators. If it wasn't for the others there, he would have shuffled off this mortal coil there as well.

Hey Liam, I'm not sure if you've got this idea in your head, but do you think Oda is setting something up for Zoro's character arc? This idea for me really popped up because of how the Lucci fight happened.
Something tells me that Zoro fumbled the bag in Egghead. As First Mate, the second he felt Saturn's weird and strong haki, he should have ended his fight with Lucci ASAP and hauled his ass to the front lines to see what's going on. But as we see, he didn't until just now. It tells us that the situation with the Gorosei may have been not as dire if he was there.
I'm just spitballing, but maybe there might be some scene with Zoro expressing remorse that he didn't end things with Lucci sooner. He knew damn well he could have ended things quickly (as we see now), but stayed around and played with him. I mean, Oda is hinting at us this very thing by making Jinbei express that it isn't time to be playing around.
