Ukraine needed the Kursk offensive because they haven't triggered a huge PR since the Kharkiv offensive in 2022. The Western backers have run out of patience for results in Ukraine. As the experts say, this Kursk offensive likens to the Battle of the Bulge in WW2 where Germans counter-attacked just for PR and then lost big time and never recovered.

I don't really get the PR argument every single successful military is good for PR like the kharkiv counterattack why would you need a full blown military operation for PR purposes only? when you can launch a successful military with an actual objective which is already good for PR I feel like people who said the Ukraine special military operation in Kursk "is only for PR" don't know what they are talking about

Yes but that was 80 years ago. Weather and a crazy leader were a big part of the nazi failure. Things have changed and there is no allied forces nipping at the back side if a force went into Russia now. Having said that I think it would be crazy for the allies to do that due to the cost for both sides on so many levels. Right now it is time for Ukraine and Russia to come to a peace. Yes Russia will get to keep a piece of Ukraine but Ukraine will get to join Nato and be fully protected into the future.

Ukraine inverting the battlefield and taking the fight into Russia was a huge gamble. Thinking they would reach Kursk NPP and trade land for land is utter desperation.
The likely outcome is that those forces will be cut off from supply lines surrounded and dealt with. Robbing grocery stores and posting silly reviews of Russian restaurants for their NAFO cheerleaders won't save their lives.
Without taking Kursk NPP, which has now been fortified by the Russians, there is no objective. They are just a lost army running aimlessly around the Russian countryside awaiting their doom.

    • @christopherkucia1071
      @christopherkucia1071 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +36

Precisely…. The supply lines have already been totally cut off too. The whole area is already surrounded by Russia, they just need to be slow and smart about this because they want to prevent mass war crimes of desperate Ukrainians in their land. Ukraine is notorious for war crimes against their OWN people. And also, Russia wants this to be SMOOTH and an utter decisive victory without losing much or any of their soldiers for that matter. They are now surrounded and cut off from supply, Russia is just positioning now and planning/getting logistics ready.
I HOPE this is the decisive loss for Ukraine that will open up negotiations for peace…. But knowing NATO, they will send more mercenaries and volunteers and service members that they claim aren’t boots on the ground and will threaten Ukrain and their puppet government to NEVER negotiate or ever have diplomatic ties to Russia… so who knows…. This war might get even bloodier and Ukraine may be wiped off the map and complely taken by Russia, even though that’s not what the Russian want anyways… they just want peace. They begged for it and did EVERYTHING right in the decades that led up to this.

The war had become boring. We stopped watching, which was bad for Ukraine. Now more funds will start piling in. It is absurd to discuss the manpower problem of the Russian army. now that the Ukrainian army has attacked Russia territory, the Russian army can legally counterattack with conscripted units, they don’t even need to pay that much. Makes no difference at all to the front line, but rather distracts the Ukrainian army from its strength

    Severodonetsk
    Lysychansk
    Soledar
    Bakhmut
    Marinka
    Avdiivka
    AND the 2023 "Counteroffensive"
And I would add Kherson as a Russian victory, if one was to take into account the 7-1 loss ratio in favor of Russia, and about 6 weeks after the battle that Russia clearly won, they decided to take every piece of equipment, every troop and every bit of ammo across the river to a better position. In fact, the Ukrainian troops wouldn't go into the city for over a week, as they said they thought it MUST have been a Russian trick because Russia won the battle, and NO ONE could have pulled off such a perfect withdrawal of so many troops and equipment that quickly to another position across a river. After they got the courage up and finally DID enter the city, they had a big party and celebration claiming they had won the battle there.
Of course the Western press went along with it for days until they realized most of the people there celebrating had never lived in that city and it was one big joke as about 40% of the city had left with the Russians.
Yes.....they even took all those civilians.
It's been so bad for Ukraine in this war, that many times people forget how many battles Ukraine has lost, and what a terrible toll it's taken on the population there.

While I do agree that the US could call upon wisdom for a war against Russia. You have to remember that the US has never faced a military on par with theirs yet theyloet every war they've started, Russia has never lost a conflict which they began.
There's a reason why 98% of the foreign legion quit during Bakhmut, most of which were war vets themselves. They just can't sustain real life war, Russia already a accepted loss of life in their doctrine the West hasn't.

If Russia has suffered this badly against Ukraine... then they would be obliterated by the US. That much should be obvious by now.

But... apparently, Ukraine CAN "afford to lose" even though if it did, it's country would literally cease to exist? Is that correct? Am I hearing you? What an absurd statement... if anyone "can't afford to lose" its Ukraine. Not only could russia "afford" to "lose"... it could even lose giant swathes of its territory and still afford to "lose" even further and still exist. The only thing/person that "can't afford to lose" is Putin himself.

@@carljensen333 Ukraine tried that before when it "ceded" Crimea without doing anything about it. Then it tried that again when it "ceded" the Eastern portion of Ukraine to Russia after marginally doing something about it. Then, when Russia tried to "cede" the rest of Ukraine, Ukrainians finally did something about it. What's to stop Russia from just trying again after rebuilding its army/supplies again PLUS the addition of having major battlefield experience and lessons learned to boot??? Also, would "WW3" occur if NATO got involved ONLY inside of Ukraine? If "NATO" just helped Ukraine get back its normal territories, then why would Russia risk the potential outcomes of a "WW3" when it could just go back to how it was normally in terms of territory for the past quarter century? It seems like a much better outcome than a "WW3", don't you think?

@@nathankox1463 I hope you don't mind that I sent your message to my good friend from Kiev. She answered: "ну просто сказочный долбоеб, явно Википедии перечитал". Sorry, it is a quotation. Believe me or not, but there is no such nation like Ukrainians. On the territory of modern Ukraine (and Russia) Russian people have been living for centuries. Medieval capital of Russia is Kiev, a sacred for all Russians city, our heart with one of our main cathedral St. Sofia (that's why Kiev isn't bombed like Gaza). Medieval rulers as an heirs (in general) had the title prince of Novgorod like Yaroslav one of the most famous rulers of medieval Russia (his wife is still buried in Novgorod cathedral) or Vladimir, who baptized Russia into Orthodox religion. Modern West Ukrainian was medieval Russian dukedoms (during feudal disunity). Town Lvov was named after son oof medieval ussian ruler Daniil of Galicia. Later in medieval times big part of Russia became parts different countries: Turkey, medieval Poland, medieval Austria etc. Only in the North we remain independent and it took many centures to return or territory back, because Russian people were discriminated (for nation, for Orthodox religion). That's why during WW2 ukranian nazy's burned many polish villages (brutality killed polish people). I'm sure you read about this.
Now of course the history is rewritten and white is called black.
You wrote that in 1783 Russia invaded Ukraine, I guess you ment Russian- Turkish war when Russia got Crimea. Where is Ukraine there on this story?! It simply didn't exist. Ukraine in Russian is a distant land, these lands are distant for both Russia and Poland.
All other dates are more or less the same.
And the last thing. Today Orthodox Church is forbidden in Ukraine. Our prince Vladimir baptized these lands in 988 and today the story is over. The land has last the sacrality. So during half of the year, maximum a year Ukraine will disappear. Sorry for our icons of 10-12 centuries, they will disappear as this rulers can only rob, steal, destroy and kill, but this is not important: today they killed the sole of Ukraine and no one can live without a sole.

At this point, I don't want to talk about the strengths or advantages of both sides - Russia and Ukraine - but instead, it is interesting to see some of their weaknesses.
One of the critical weaknesses or challenges of both sides is that both Russia and Ukraine are struggling with their internal disputes and unity -I mean not all citizens of Russia and Ukraine actively support the so-called war. Many Ukrainians in the eastern parts for examle are not really on the side of the Ukraine government, and neither are some Russians, especially some Russians living near the border in western areas of Russia. Even some Russians in Kursk are fighting on the side of Ukraine, and all these are the difficulties faced by both sides.
Another matter for both sides, especially Ukraine, is that corruption is a really big problem in Ukraine. I've noted that many countries fighting against external aggressions failed due to corrupt leaders and government officials, among others, and this often led to the lack of internal and external support, including military morale.
Another critical issue is that even though Ukraine is strongly supported by the entire West, many nations in other parts of the world don't actively support Ukraine thanks to western hypocrisy, hedgemony and double standards, including Ukraine's some weak foreign policies. A concrete example of this is that despite the ongoing war in Ukraine, the Ukrainian government did show very strong support for Islael at the beginning stage of the aggression in Gaza, and this didn't really satisfy many countries in the global south, especially within the Islamic worlds.
Russia, too, even though Russia still maintains relationships with many countries in the world, some Russian foreign policies are not relevant to some, perhaps many, real-life circumstances -hard policy, hard diplomacy, not flexible, and this doesn't satisfy many countries, including the global south.
To conclude, one's victory in Russia-Ukraine war, including other wars, can not only be determined militarily and economically, but also the strengths of the internal environments, particularly the unity of their own people.
