- Doing a quick review of the Mossberg 590A1 outfitted with a bunch of Magpul gear. We pattern it and then shoot a bunch of different ammo through it. Apologies for the bad audio, the wind was pretty intense!

Your stock pull is too short grab the weapon like your going to shoot it then bring the butt of the stock up into your arm we’re your bicep meets your elbow/ the crook of your arm and when it rest comfortably on the crook that should be your proper pull, you can thank me later

I put 2 spacers in and it cleared up that problem for me. Great vid bro ( i went for the fde to it looks great!)
Thanks! 2 spacers also resolved my “punching myself in the face” issue. The FDE is too hot to pass up.
@@UnprofessionalOutdoors man i had the houge 12 inch short lop on mine before that and that was ridiculously bad. I am very glad i upgraded to the magpul.( it does suck to have to pay 50 bucks to get it to mount a sling tho) Thanks for the content bro 👍
@@jamesmelissawhite4807 Magpul does make some great gear. Totally agree about having to pay extra for the sling mount though. Felt like that should have just been part of the stock. Glad you like the content. We should have some more coming soon.
This Maglite is shit. They are verry fragile, Mine was dead after droping it less then a meter on concrete.

My 590A1 is set with the same stock and forend. I had the same problem with punching myself in the face with slugs, also had trouble getting a decent cheek weld with the high ghost ring sights. I fixed both issues with adding a cheek riser to the stock. Now I can get a perfect cheek weld and my head is higher than my hand so no more cheek punching.
That’s a good idea with the riser. I added 2 of the Magpul extensions that came with the stack which fixed things for me. Although nothing really wakes you up at the range like punching yourself in the cheek!
Lots of pricey, unnecessary mods, imho, but it's your money to spend. I think that the unmodified 590A1 is perfect.
I just purchased this shotgun shotgun as Dec 27, 2022 and mostly all your attachments. I fell in love on your shotgun attachment. This is going to be my first shotgun. I was wondering can you make a video about how to install the same exact Mesa Tactical Sureshell Carrier and the Spacer. I don’t really understand where to install the spacer when I get my shotgun soon. I don’t even know what’s a spacer on a shotgun. I am thinking it’s a hardware spacer. Idk if that’s the same thing. If you can send URL/link of the spacer. How big or thick is it?
I purchased the link you have on the Mesa Tactical Sureshell Carrier. It said it’s for Remington. Did you put a double sided tape? Hopefully you can make a short video or a long video just showing it. I highly appreciate it. Thank you

As for the spacers, those come with the Magpul buttstock and are pretty easy to install once you see everything.
You run the gun... Stand into it and take charge.
I have the 18.5" version with the M-LOK compatible forend and bead front sight. I bought it new from GunBroker last year for about $450, an absolute steal. I won't lie though: I really want this 20" version with the orange blade front sight, and with this Magpul furniture (though i prefer mine in black, or even gray). As it is, with my 590A1, I'm gonna have to get the Hogue 12" LOP replacement stock because the standard stock is just too damn long. I would opt for the Magpul stock, however, I don't think it would look as good as it would on a 20" shotgun. Just my opinion. I like the traditional look of the Hogue stock better.
Yeah that’s a great deal. I’ve handle Hogue stocks on 870s and they are great. Love the tactile feel a lot more than the plastic Magpul feel.
Move your thumb forward to where it’s pointing straight, that’ll fix your thumb punch. Chris Baker from Lucky Gunner has some good vids on that.
Thanks for the advice. Will check out Lucky Gunner. I keep my thumb up there since the 590 safety is up there, but may need to adjust.
@@UnprofessionalOutdoors that’s cool, to me, actuating the safety by pushing your thumb forward and in a straight position and then bringing it back to re engage the safety while having my thumb over the stock really works for me.

I patterned my 590a1 with flight control 9 shot 00 buck for the first time. Was happily surprised by the tight pattern. 18.5 barrel. I'll buy the 8 shot next time
I hit myself in the nose also with that stock . It's your thumb hitting so what I did was run your thumb straight on the grip instead of grabbing around the grip . Try that out and see if it helps .

Your length of pull is to short. Add a spacer until it stops hitting you in the face!
Yeah I put a couple of spacers on which fixed the problem.
Love the look of Magpul furniture on 590 shotguns. Back sight needs to go up if you are shooting low (believe I heard you say lower it in video). You can also mitigate recoil by pushing forward with your non-firing hand on the foregrip, that would keep your weapon smaller.
Thanks for the advice. I eventually got it sighted in. I ended up adding a couple of extenders to the buttstock which didn’t add too much length and keeps me from hunching in on the gun too much.
If you can find them, Winchester has a defense load that's a slug plus three 00 buck. It's called Defender IIRC. It actually patterns pretty nice with my 18.5" 590A1. At about 10-15 yds, there's a slug center mass with the 00 buck at 12, 3 and 6 o'clock. I'd say the zombie repellant capabilities is pretty good. 😁
I also have the Magpul furniture on mine and I love it EXCEPT you have to buy the QD cups separate for the stock. The Magpul barrel clamp has a QD cup thankfully.

@@UnprofessionalOutdoors Also, when shooting slugs, I was having the same issue with bumping my nose with my thumb around the grip as well. One extender solved that. I'm 6'4" tall but just on extender is enough to shoot it comfortably. Some people think because I'm tall that I need super long length of pull but that's not the case. It's like Goldilocks, there's a just right spot when it comes to length of pull. Plus, having the shotgun be too long defeats the purpose of having a shorter barreled shotgun for home defense. Or that's my .02 at least.
@@1977Yakko Yeah I ended up adding one extender and that also solved my problem. Interesting to hear you also only needed one being 6'4".

The ati 500 persuader collapse stocks are the best, take carrier off the stock Velcro side mount it, Walmart medium limbsaver slip over the thin stock pad drill 1 hole below sling slot 2x zipties no pain all day plus shooting fully collapse no hand in face ,shave off the excess plastic on the collapse lever/grip numb paracord sling mounts better than sga for cqb/vehicle use
Sounds reasonable, but does it look as hot as the Magpul kit? That’s what matters.
@@UnprofessionalOutdoors it actually does real door kicker style 🤣 also get some pipe insulation cut it in half length wise of stock check weld n zip tie clean up edges with lighter 🔥best cheek riser no beard grabbing super comfy works great on the sub 2k as well

Did I miss the buckshot patterning? Did you forget to do it or just not include it?
You know that the ghost ring rear sight is Windage/Elevation adjustable right? Once you saw the first birdshot pattern hitting low right, I’d have expected you to adjust the sights slightly up and left. These don’t come completely zeroed from factory, even they try to, they don’t let you know what range they’re zeroed for.
