Are you a teacher? I really like your style of reviews, very clear, concise, logical and organized. Best upgrade review I have seen! Great Job! Keep doing your reviews! Thanks mate!
I just recently picked up a 500 and fitted it with SGA furniture. I figured the LoP being long was preferred but I found it uncomfortable and left a few spacers in. I'll now be taking them out. Thanks, my man.
Awesome video and great video about Magpul stock and forend. I have a 590 SP and I recently put on the Magpul furniture. The forend was easy, however, the buttstock needed some grinding and sanding with my Dremel to make sure the trigger assembly could be removed during breakdown and cleaning. This was my case, however, it might not be with others. That being said I have heard this is a common problem. Most will just loosen the bolt in the stock, however, since I am a klutz I would be too afraid to strip out the bolt as I do shoot the shotgun frequently. The new furniture felt great and I needed a shorter stock and that was the trick. Just wanted to let most of the users know here that you might have to grind down the trigger area of the buttstock to make removing the trigger assembly easy during breakdown and cleaning.
I absolutely love this stock set. It makes a huge difference in felt recoil and looks good. The spacers are great, I like it shorter. I personally went with orange for a change, it looks great.
Nice boomstick. I added the black Magpul to my 590A1. Great ergonomics. Also, in nearly all 590A1 vids I see online are the 20" model. I was starting to think I was the only one who had a 18" model.
My friend has that for his Rem. 870, it's really nice for the price. I spent $100 on an ATI for my Moss. 500 and I'm thinking of selling to get the Magpul furniture. It's smooth and comfy, and as you implied, very durable. Thanks for sharing.
You turned me on to the trijicon hd sights and I now have a pair on every pistol I own. Im sure this will be the same. Thanks for all the informative videos.
Im actually in raleigh i saw one of your vids and recognized the range then you started talking about classes. I used to go there all the time. Frankie actually installed my muzzle break on my stag model 8.
I just got the Magpul stock set for my 870 and I love it. I love the adjustable LOP and it is so much more comfortable than the factory set. Great review.
thanks i didn’t know why the stock came so long i knew it was adjustable but i never messed with the spacers i bought my moss 500 with the furniture installed
i replaced the factory stock with magpul too. i keep it on the shortest setting since i'm not that tall. way better than the factory stock. keep the videos coming!
Right after i watched this video i bought the magpul set still waiting for the fore grip but have the stock and its awesome cant wait to take it to the range
Enjoyed the content, but you made my decision on which stock to buy a little more difficult, now i have another option to consider. Thanks for the clear and concise info man.
Your really good at this. I find myself watching your videos about products I don’t care about because you always point something I didn’t think of out.
Had my 590A1 out the other day! Hit a ram at 100 yards four out of five time offhand with slugs! The cheek-risers would be nice for my ghost ring sights!
There it is! I was wondering when you were going to do a review on the set. I remember seeing it on the table in the last 590 review. I love the set, I have it on my 870 police. I just wish they would make a retrofit set for my Winchester 1300 defender. It's by far the smoothest pump I've ever shot. Another really nice little accessory you should check out is the Nordic dome saftey, it's really intuitive and fast without adjusting fire control grip. Amazing little product. Great review Cameron! Mick-
Kudos for your smooth bang-pull action. Agreed on LOP, I take the spacers out on my 500. Forend is coming, standard composite forend is downright slippery, at least the foregrip is ribbed with a decent lip fore and aft.
Mossberg has heat shields sized for 590a1 shotguns. Available through Mossberg. Also, Brownells, MidwayUSA, and Optics planet. The heat shield for the 590 has a smaller diameter. It will not interfere with the Magpul fore grip. Try an oversized safety on your Mossberg. Elite Tactical Advantage, S&J Hardware, Vaughn Precision and Pro-Mag have recommended safeties.
I just traded in today my unfired SKS-D for a 500 persuader with this magpul stock and forend and bushnell trs-25 red dot. The shotgun's tag price is $595 + tax. SKS-D in Canada runs anywhere from $600-$900. I thought I got a sweet deal, can't wait to take it to the bush.
I put the Magpul stock on mine, but not the forend. I am waiting for them to come out with a more aggressive texturing on the forend before I replace the stock one. I'd rather not rely on grip tape or stippling. The corncob still has an adequate grip, for me, so I'll keep it for now. I love the adjusting stock though. Changing the length of pull is fairly easy on this and I recommend it too. Thanks for the video.
It is a HUGE help. I'm 5'8", and I do great with one spacer installed. Zero spacers is a 12.5" LOP, with is youth stock territory and should fit just about anyone large enough to run the 590A1.
There is a grip kit available, not made by magpul but I saw it on Amazon the other day when I was ordering the buttstock. I have the insight integrated light (great light by the way) on my 590 8+1, so I only ordered the buttstock. Also I just installed an ATI add a shell side saddle, very happy with that as well.
Nice video. I have a 590A1, and I just put the this stock and forearm on it tonight. One issue I did run into with the SGA stock is that its fit is so tight against the trigger assembly that you cannot remove the trigger assembly without loosening the retention bolt. Magpul even makes note of this in their instructions. I used a Dremel to grind the plastic down a bit, since it seems senseless to me to continually have to loosen the bolt every time you need to clean the weapon. I actually read that this would probably be an issue on a couple forums. I am not sure why the Magpul design does not more closely mimic the dimensions of the factory stock in that regard, and it is rather annoying. Other than that I am quite happy with both upgrades.
Paul Melgoza That is a bit of a pain, but the stock is worth it for how infrequently you really need to do a full strip of a 590A1. Thanks for watching.
Stock looks great. I myself am torn right now. I like the modularity with the MOE, but you hit the nail on the head when grip with un gloved hands came into play..... I've seen some grip tape sold on ebay especially for this issue which I am going to order. If I got my MOE before I got my l Hogue Overmolded Forend. The Hogue is textured and rubberized, it feels SOOOOO good! It is also solid on the gun and I really love it. If you haven't tried it I am going to highly recommend and possibly get your detailed opinion on both. (Please make a video) Getting away from forend talk, you mentioned favoring a bead over an optic for your home defense build. You got to order the XS Big Dot 24/7 Bead on Plain Barrel. I believe the part number sg-2003-3 I would also look forward to this video. Thanks for your not only making great informative videos that I actually look forward to, and check your channel at least x2 a day to see if you uploaded anything new. I would also like to thank you for taking the time to read our comments and opinions and taking the time to write back to us. Keep up the good work. See you on the next video.
I need the MOE Forend for mounting a light, which will be the next video in this build series. The stock forend is fine for me, otherwise. Hogue makes great stuff, too. I will probably stipple the forend when I'm done the build series, and that would certainly make a great video. I think for people who aren't consistent with their point shooting, the XS bead is a good option. With my Inforce WML in place, though, the stock brass bead lights right up when the light is activated. At short HD distances I can't say that I even use the sight at all. I'm just looking across the barrel, and I'm going to hit what I want. I'm not a fan of permanently epoxying it in place. I wish they would come up with an easier and less permanent attachment method like used with other aftermarket sights.
TWANGnBANG I just ordered that kit of rubberized adhesive grip patches for my MOE forend. They make one for the Mossberg MOE forend. I think you should get a set before you take that soldering iron. I can't vouch, but from all the reviews I read they are great. www.maggrips.com They sell a lot of grip accessories. I can't wait to see how they make my forend feel over it's stock form.
TWANGnBANG If resale isn't a concern you could always stipple the desired texture with a soldering iron. I did my G19 Gen 3 and I love the custom look for the $4.99 cost of the iron.
Magpul stock is excellent, the forend is not so much, because its further forward, the original on 870 is easier to reach, thats why I kept the original forend.
Nice video! Been looking forward to seeing this one. Cool to see all the features in that stock. If I had a shotgun, it'd probably look a lot like yours.
Dear Twang and Bang, I installed the magpul forend on my 590a1 and ran into a issue with the action being very stiff. The anti rotation shim seems to make the action undesirable. It also started taking the finish off the mag tube immediately. If I take the shim off and put the castle nut back on, I have the best action ever. Question for you, Is the anti rotation shim really that needed and will not using it cause damage to the gun? Thank you for your time and love your videos.
Every 590 accessory you've showcased is pretty much.. perfect! At this rate I'm going to have the exact same build as you. How many different brands do you go through before choosing the right one?
This one was easy. As I alluded to in the video, the shotgun I borrowed for a course had this stockset, and I fell in love with it. It wasn't made for the Mossberg at the time, and I actually waited to get the 590A1 until the SGA 590 was on the market. No joke, the stock is that good.
TWANGnBANG I love the SGA stock for my 500, it feels so natural! Have not be able to hit the range after I installed it tho. Need to make time. I went with the Hogue over mold for end for the added grip and low profile because I run a TLR light on a magtube mount and I need the taper on the front of the fore end to just fit under the light. They sit very close but I like how it is set up, very easy to activate.
Nice video. I had a chance to shoulder one of the Mossberg 500's with the Magpul furniture the other day. The stock felt very comfortable, though I didn't have a chance to shoot that gun, so I don't know about the felt recoil. What I didn't care for at all though, was the forend. Too big and bulky, and just couldn't get a comfortable grip on it. I much prefer the factory ribbed forend. The adjustable LOP on the stock is a great feature, though. Given the safety location on the 500/590 models, an adjustable pistol grip stock really isn't a great option. May consider the Magpul stock if I feel like adding a 500 to the collection.
+TWANGnBANG ... Thanks again Twang !! I did get the Mossberg 590 A1 with the Magpul SGA and MOE Forend. This will be my bedroom gun along with my S&W 586. Could you do a video about shotgun techniques like quick loading tips, ways to hold a shotgun to reduce recoil, etc. ? I really love the Mossberg and want to get the most out of it - THANKS !
Got the SGA set for my 500TR. Love it mostly, just wish the stock would adjust to 12" LOP instead of 12.5". I can deal with 12.5 easily but for some that extra 1\2" can be important. They also need to add some better texturing to the forend. Other than that love the set. Will be adding it to all my shotguns except the breached. : )
Will you be doing a video on the Inforce light as it is mounted on the MOE forend? I've got the forend and rail (watch the grip/thumb position with the rail on considering recoil) and plan to get the same light. I'd like to hear your thoughts on the setup.
Yes, in the next video in the series. I tried the MOE light mount, but I found that I prefer just a short section of Picatinny rail on the side for it.
Love the magpul stock and foregrip design. My only criticism is that the foregrip is not compatible with the heat shield I have on my model 500. That heatshield looks too bad ass for me to remove it to install the foregrip , so I'll probably just go with the stock.
Yes. It is a very good form factor for use on the MOE Forend. My preference would be for the momentary only version, though I will be demonstrating the click programmable version in the video.
i know nada about shotguns can you please make a video introducing 590 a1 shotgun as an example and explain parts of shotgun their functions how to operate it and clean maintain store it thank you sir
Curious, I have a Mossberg 590A1, but it has ghost rings, bayonet lug, and sling swivels, but no heatshield, whereas the example used in this video has none of those features. It looks like the only commonality is the open ended mag tube for the 8+1 round capacity. Have you noticed any rhyme or reason as to what defines the 590A1 options, or is it pretty much whatever random features they choose to put on a particular run of 590A1s?
Terry Faugno Nothing is random about it. Mossberg makes a few configurations of the 590A1, and I specifically started with model number 51411. Thanks for watching!
Great vid! Your stance when firing was excellent! You took the recoil well! Were u using full buckshot loads or reduced recoil ammo? Thanks for the info on the gear!
Great video; I'm building a 590a1 very similar to this setup. Do you have side saddle recommendations yet? Or is that coming up in a future video? Can't wait for more on this series.
Garrett James Loosen it, yes, but you don't need to remove it. That said, most people who want to detail strip their 590A1 frequently just take a Dremel or file and remove the small amount of material that's in the way. Once I put the aluminum shell carrier on, field stripping will need tools anyway, so I'm not worried about it. Either way, this is still the best stock out there for the 590A1, though it wouldn't hurt to wait until SHOT Show to see if they have come up with an update.
Love your channel you sold me on the primal arms collapsible bow but quick question did you add a mag extension to the 590 in this vid how much did it cost if so and where did you get it and what is the mag capacity now please and thanks.
Hello Sir great video! Can you tell me please what is the length of the action slide tube of your 18,5 inch 590A1?Reason for asking you is because bought new590A1 same 18,5 inch, but with flex forend and I am not sure what length action slide tube to buy so to get me standard Mossberg corncob forend or Magpul. Thank you in advance
Magpul SGA Stocksets on Amazon (best prices): amzn.to/2J3smoG
Would you think I would have issues ...my 590A1 that came with the generic m4 style adjustable stock ?
You can use skateboard tape in the foreend to improve your grip. Maybe Talon Grips has already made then for the magpul kit.
Are you a teacher? I really like your style of reviews, very clear, concise, logical and organized. Best upgrade review I have seen! Great Job! Keep doing your reviews!
Thanks mate!
Moss Berg Yes and no. I've made several careers of explaining things to people.
Man you have some of the best reviews on the net. Awesome work
Thanks, Larry!
I just recently picked up a 500 and fitted it with SGA furniture. I figured the LoP being long was preferred but I found it uncomfortable and left a few spacers in. I'll now be taking them out. Thanks, my man.

I just got the Magpul stock set for my 870 and I love it. I love the adjustable LOP and it is so much more comfortable than the factory set. Great review.
***** Thanks for watching!
Talon Gun Grips now make fore end grips for both the Mossberg and the Remington Magpul Sets.
thanks i didn’t know why the stock came so long i knew it was adjustable but i never messed with the spacers i bought my moss 500 with the furniture installed
I thought the SGA & MOE stock set was just a fancy Magpul thing until you explained the different features on how it works.....Thanks
Glad it was helpful!
Very good presentation showing the use of the spacers from Magpul. Very enjoyable.
i replaced the factory stock with magpul too. i keep it on the shortest setting since i'm not that tall. way better than the factory stock. keep the videos coming!
Right after i watched this video i bought the magpul set still waiting for the fore grip but have the stock and its awesome cant wait to take it to the range
Glad you found the video helpful!
Enjoyed the content, but you made my decision on which stock to buy a little more difficult, now i have another option to consider. Thanks for the clear and concise info man.
I love magpul products. They are always well thought out, and rugged.
Great video ... I followed your example and really like my 590 Magpul edition 12 gauge... very functional!
That's got to be the coolest background to shoot a video in good job.
Your really good at this. I find myself watching your videos about products I don’t care about because you always point something I didn’t think of out.
Thanks, Shawn!
Had my 590A1 out the other day! Hit a ram at 100 yards four out of five time offhand with slugs! The cheek-risers would be nice for my ghost ring sights!
That's fantastic!
A little grip tape on the Forend will help without stippling it...
Kudos for your smooth bang-pull action. Agreed on LOP, I take the spacers out on my 500. Forend is coming, standard composite forend is downright slippery, at least the foregrip is ribbed with a decent lip fore and aft.
Just ordered mine. Can’t wait !
THANK YOU for making the only video that shows how to adjust the stock length.
Great vid as always! Gotta love Magpul's innovative and thoughtful products.
Thanks for the review. Picking up one of these tomorrow. 500 8 round magpul
This is my dream shotgun set-up, I asked for a Mossberg 590A1 for my birthday
Davis Lawrence Good luck!
Davis Lawrence did you get it
I picked up a 9-shot 590 (not the A1) last year and definitely plan on putting this stock set on the gun.
The SGA is as close to the perfect Magpul product as anything they make. It's definitely worth doing.
I love my Magpul furniture for my Remington 870. Great review once again
That's the setup I was using in the shotgun course, and I loved it.
thats a pretty awesome set, im a short guy and length of pull is kind of an issue, a stock like would benefit me alot. Thanks for showing it!

Outlaw777x Talon Grips makes one for the 870 forend, but it does not fit the 590 forend.
TWANGnBANG that's probably what I saw then.

Excellent video, I was already sold on the set for my persuader, but this sealed the deal.
This may be the best firearm review video I've ever seen,
Thank you!
Wow that's a great looking shotgun! I'd probably order something from Talon Grips and cut a couple strips to add to the pump fore end.
Im a large person 6'2. But i love a short stock on a defensive shotgun. And the magpul angle is much more comfortable
My bank account hates your reviews lol , another great video

Excellent review have enjoyed the shotgun series keep them coming
Perfect looking shotgun.
I appreciate your video. I like your set up for sure! Thanks for the ideas.
6690698 Thanks for watching!
have this on my 870, i love it!
AngelsLastVengeance The SGA is definitely the better of the two Magpul products.
Wow... great video - I learned a lot !! Helped me decide what to get on my Mossberg 590 A1 - thanks.
+Stephen Rajczyk Great! Thanks for watching!
+TWANGnBANG ... Thanks again Twang !! I did get the Mossberg 590 A1 with the Magpul SGA and MOE Forend. This will be my bedroom gun along with my S&W 586. Best Review I have found. Excellent Job.
Thanks, Bobby!
I gave you a shout out on a video I'm working on now from today...
I saw a guy on the range once who put rough textured skateboard tape to his forend. Could be a good option for solving the traction problem.
Bryce Althoff Talon Grips makes a great product for both the Remington & Mossberg fore ends.

Another great vid full of useful info. Thanks
Thanks for watching!
Appreciate the advice on fit for number of spacers.
I hope it helps!
Awesome 590 thinking I might get one for my next gun
Got the SGA set for my 500TR. Love it mostly, just wish the stock would adjust to 12" LOP instead of 12.5". I can deal with 12.5 easily but for some that extra 1\2" can be important. They also need to add some better texturing to the forend.
Other than that love the set. Will be adding it to all my shotguns except the breached. : )
Great intelligent review as always
How"s the shotgun talon grip for the forend...Your shotgun build is fantastic will be building a SBS version...keep up the good work..Paul
TWANGnBANG Cool. I look forward to it. Thanks for the reply.
Love the magpul stock and foregrip design. My only criticism is that the foregrip is not compatible with the heat shield I have on my model 500. That heatshield looks too bad ass for me to remove it to install the foregrip , so I'll probably just go with the stock.
I put this on my Flock and now it looks funky. What a bad idea.
Nice like to dislike ratio bud! Love your videos.
Thanks, Adam!
Thank You for the review Great one!!!
1:25 100% thought you were going to say "for your pleasure"
Great review ! Very informative !
4:06 Nice recoil management
I prefer the original mossberg stock its tactically functional by it holding 2 shell on either side of the stock.
Whats the capacity on the tube? Do you have an extension? I counted 20 shots in your drill and all i can find online is 9 shot
Are you going to attach the InForce WML you showed at the end? Interested to see your choice in light source.
Yes. It is a very good form factor for use on the MOE Forend. My preference would be for the momentary only version, though I will be demonstrating the click programmable version in the video.
I have a 77" reach, so I like the factory stock on my 500.
i know nada about shotguns can you please make a video introducing 590 a1 shotgun as an example and explain parts of shotgun their functions how to operate it and clean maintain store it thank you sir
Could you tell me, what magtube extension you've installed on your m590a1?
Who makes that mount on the front of the magazine tube? Love the look it gives the 590a1.
Jim Silvestri S&J Hardware Magazine Extension! +2 Rounds for the 590A1
Man. I just bought the black ops shotgun set up for my rem 870. O well .
tim Tom Doh!
I got one on my Maverick 88 cuz I cant find the 500 anywhere I love this stock!!
Great vid! Your stance when firing was excellent! You took the recoil well! Were u using full buckshot loads or reduced recoil ammo? Thanks for the info on the gear!
Great review... Thanks for posting!
Thanks for watching!
Ordered the SGA and MOE! 😜
Awesome video but what qd mount did you install on the stock? The magpul ine doesnt rotate I notice yours does..
Hey man, loved the video. Made me get a magpul stock for my 590a1 too! Question though, what brand mag tube extender do you have on yours?
Great video; I'm building a 590a1 very similar to this setup. Do you have side saddle recommendations yet? Or is that coming up in a future video? Can't wait for more on this series.
***** Future vid.
Do you have to remove that stock to drop the trigger assembly?
