(87-93) so mustangs have not always offered V6 engines. they have however, always offered a V8 at a price / performance that was very enticing, which is why it still exists today.
I like the new Mustang, that new V6 engine is very efficient and a real step ahead for American Car Industry. No more huge inefficient V8 engines producing what an Asian sport car can do with a V6. My girlfriend just bought one of these. Lava red.. It has to be the most powerful v6 I've had the pleasure to drive. It's stance is very solid, almost too solid, it doesn't want to drive with the road I find, more... Pushes against the road quite a bit.. Although it is quite a lot to handle. It's very tough, and if you have the experience and personality/fitness to drive it, you can drive it like it was meant to be driven. However if you're unsure in your abilities, it will be in control
V6's are back. They are under rated. I am so happy about this cause i built a buick v6 back when I was in high school. They have come a long way since then. Great for a daily driver car. For my weekend car, I prefer a 540 big block chevy!

@quietfamily 2011. He works with ford so he got his hands on one way in advance. He's going upgrade the internals. While they are aluminum and very strong he doesn't want to chance break them. He's giddy.

@derekjlight ya im defenently glad they brought back the 5.0 but i kind of wish they would make a sports virsion of the mustang with independent suspension instead of the fixed rear axel
@wccrispy Eh I meant stock from Ford, but Ford's EcoBoost V6 engine is already in the Taurus SHO and F150, both cranking out 365hp, while the Flex has 355hp.
@chrisstephens101 no, its got a solid rear axle, not a live one, but its a real good one. it actually handles better than the camaro, and the challenger -because the last one is super heavy, and a V6 cant handle it. - and the solid rear axle is also stronger. so it has good things from both types of suspension.
I am a ford guy always have been, with this said I have always had to be happy when ford would always get last place or 2nd places at best, to see ford somehow changing things I am very happy to see ford crushing pretty much anything they have made in the past from their v-6 up to their v-8 they are doing very well and will only get better!!
thank you! it's so obvious the driver resorted to drifting because the stang cant hug the corners at that speed. so what do you do? use the sliding to your advantage and pass it off as a driving style so ford doesn't look bad. we'll see the real comparison when they can drive them.
@DRA60NF1R3 Actually from what I know Holden is a subsidiary of GM. So Holden uses their motors to power their cars out in Australian. Sorry, as it stands, at least initially, the pistons are cast aluminum and will not withstand big boost. The rods are another weak point but are somewhat stronger than the pistons. The crank is better than the 4.6s and should handle 700 h.p. easily but as with the 4.6, which I own a 2008 Roushcharged Mustang, forged internals will have to be installed to turn up the wick !

Funny, testing a Challenger, Mustang, and a Camaro but there is a Kia Borrego in the background at 4:09. I guess they didnt want to seem biased and bring in another American car.
@TH3RA1NM4N It looks like they used the same test driver for all 3 cars - that same test driver may simply be experienced with the 'Stang, and not with the others. At any rate, I'll agree they certainly weren't whipping the other two as hard around the track.

Haha no there were a lot of questions, including that one, that I didn't get to ask. I was pretty nervous cause I'm only 18 and we were just walking around the San Diego Auto Show talking about Camaros. It was awesome!
Nice to see the V6 Mustang is no longer a fashion accessory.
@13tomabram Yeah 2 seats against 4. Also weight factors into it. Why do you keep comparing Corvettes to Mustangs? Cause the new Mustang makes the Camaro look outdated?
i just got this car last week and its amazing. i was ready to get the camaro but it was to small inside
To be continued? Can't wait for the next!
This Mustang 2011 is a real beast. I'm sold. I'll be saving my money and this will be my next car. Can't wait to put an Injen Cold Air intake and some OZ Racing wheels on it.
To me it looks like the driver pushed it harder, way harder.
I got the 2010 V6 mustang and it's lots of fun. I was going to upgrade some parts but now I think I will trade it in for a 2011.
Funny, testing a Challenger, Mustang, and a Camaro but there is a Kia Borrego in the background at 4:09. I guess they didnt want to seem biased and bring in another American car.
So they tool the 4 v cobra motor and chopped of 2 cylinders? hmmm. Can we say turbo?
@derekjlight ya thats true my biggest problem is it cant possibly have the sound the same as a real v8
@TH3RA1NM4N
It looks like they used the same test driver for all 3 cars - that same test driver may simply be experienced with the 'Stang, and not with the others. At any rate, I'll agree they certainly weren't whipping the other two as hard around the track.
