@Harley Quinn Supergirl Rogue Rey fan So true. Someone bought me a Bayformer for Christmas not fully realising my hatred for anything 'Bay'. I transformed it and left it in alt mode because I couldn't transform it back. Thinking I'll re-gift it for someone else this Christmas.
@Harley Quinn Supergirl Rogue Rey fan true. I've seen some wonderful sculptures of her but nothing Transformable. Will keep an eye out. I'm in Australia but you never know.
These reissues are so good! Both the toys and packaging are about 95% or more faithful to the originals. I wish other vintage toy lines would be rereleased just like this. Imagine getting newly produced exact copies of 1980s GI Joe, Star Wars, He-Man, etc.
Yea pretty close. Pretty sure they arnt legally allowed to reproduce the package or toys as 100% matches due to the value/collective aspects of these toys. Or people would be selling them claiming they are originals. Same reason why people arnt allowed to sell exact show accurate reproduction stickers for power ranger megazords like the japanese toys had or ppl would be selling them on ebay as the original japanese ones. Its all about maintaining the authenticity of the true originals. But i am loving all these reissues. We got the legacy line of power rangers and even re issues of the original flip head figures and now G1 transformer re issues. Guess they finally realized they just cant make toys like they used to so they are actually just remaking the old ones lolol.
Found him on clearance yesterday for 5 dollars. Couldn't believe it! I thought walmart got rid of these but I found him in another section of toys. I don't really know where they put them though so I was searching everywhere for starscream?
Your videos are what led me down the path of collecting these G1 reissues that I love so much. Newer TF's can't hold a candle to the G1 line. I just picked up Soundwave and he's amazing, I'm looking for Hot Rod and Starscream now but haven't had much luck. Great review.
Just got my reissue for $4.00. Still have my target master one, the 2002 " Rodimus Major" and now this. It was hard to pass up for $4 and he can hold Firebolt. So I'm pleased!
I don't know why the stickers looks so flimsy and cheap. Bummer about the rub symbol. Also take not that this Hot Rod is the Target Master mold with his modified fists and engine. You will notice that Firebolt, or any other Target Master, will fit with this unlike the vintage one.
I think I have an original G1 of these, and Blurr, Cyclonus, 2 Scourge, Galvatron. I think 43 or so in all. Jetfire and Omega supreme are my favorites to take out and mess with.
You can see his trunk and his accessories in the window of the front of the packaging. I've seen other hot rods where you can see his hood instead of the trunk and his accessories. Anybody else notice that he was packaged both ways? Would one be worth more than the other? I've seen quite a few of them both ways in my local Walmart.
@@80sTransfromersFan I just picked one up at Walmart for $15. They had about 20 of them left. 18 of them were packaged the wrong way. I had to dig to find one that was packaged the correct way. I almost bought one of each just in case one would be worth more.
@@80sTransfromersFan yeah,I saw it.for a whopping $18. I missed the opportunity to get it in the store,as the price where I saw it never went down like Starscream and Optimus Prime did.glad it's affordable now.again,thanks.
Been a while since I've posted on one of these TF G1 reissue vids. :) I picked up this Hot Rod reissue along with G1's Starscream. I actually had this particular toy when I was in about 4th grade, and looks and feels a lot like I remember (I kinda vaguely remember him coming with two laser guns back in the day, though). Hasbro did a great job remaking Hot Rod, imo. A bit of a warning to those that may still just be getting this Hot Rod reissue: take care rotating the roof/spoiler while transforming him, because it can kind of catch on the arms or legs if they're not folded out of the way. As a kid, I vividly remember breaking the roof/spoiler clean off this way like a couple weeks after I got him.
I just saw several of them at my local Wal-Mart. I though it was just a modern Hot Rod in a vintage box. But knowing that it is a full reproduction (with die cast parts) makes me want to buy it.
The current reissues available are Devestator, Starscream, Hot Rod, Bumblebee Tailgate and Outback beyond that I couldn't say. Hot Rod is still available on www.Walmart.com.
Thanks! Wal-Mart is getting the new cartoon colors version of Hot Rod and Starscream between now and the first of the year. Based on the 86 movie so look out for that one as well.
At the time of the release of G1 Hot Rod and Rodimus Prime, everything was pretty vague as to not give away too much of what was going to happen in Transformers The Movie. Hence having both Hot Rod and Rodimus in the artwork together
That sounds good but not accurate. On the 84 box there are 2 Trailbreakers 2 Starscreams 3 Thundercrackers 2 Megatrons etc. On the 85 box there 2 Grimlocks 3 Slags etc. The 86 box has 2 Razorclaws 2 Blurrs and a 3rd Hot Rod/ Rodimus behind Metroplex. Soooo...
I've always been under the impression that his tech specs card was incorrect. Grimlock is just as strong as Megatron and Prime. And Grimlock would give Megatron some issues when they would go at it in the 1st 2 seasons. Hot Rod was supposed to be extremely powerful. But Megatron grabbed him with 1 arm. Hot Rod struggled with all of his might to get out and couldn't. Megatron blasts Prime several times. Then easily tosses him to the side, like he was Bumblebee. I was always thrown off by that. Then I seen his tech specs when his Target Master toy came out. And his numbers took a complete nosedive. I believe that these were the correct numbers for Hot Rod. How could Hot Rod tech specs be superior to Optimus Prime's, tech specs? It's absolutely absurd! His successor Rodimus Prime? Sure! But not just a wild & reckless soldier! It would be like having Blitzwing or Brawl more powerful than Megatron. Or Cyclonus or Scourge more powerful than Galvatron. Original: 10-10-9-10-10-07-10-10 Target Master: 06-05-06-08-05-10-07-06 That sounds more accurate to me, with him being a very young Autobot with brazen and reckless behavior. And that also would more accurately fit his speed at being a 6, instead of a 9, since his speed is quite slow according to his tech specs, when compared to other Autobot cars, maxing out at 120mph. Why is he so darn slow, with a name like "Hot Rod", with such a sleek and impressive Cybertronic transformation is beyond me. Lol. The last thing that I must point out is how the Sharkticons eventually overwhelmed him & Kup. But were a joke to the Dinobots. Some much stronger Transformers??? I think in that same scenario in the movie. If that was Prime & Ultra Magnus, that it would've been another easily handling from the Autobots.
They probably wanted to start out with the "classic" figure first. Or they probably didn't want to copy the IDW version? Funny how they have him showing ass end. It is nice they are bringing back the classic figures. If seen him, Starscream, and the Devastator gift set on store shelves recently. I won't be getting him though. I have too many Rodimus's (Rodimi?).
Ok, you sold me 😁. I checked on the hot rod reissue figure on amazon and from what I saw, hot rod was one of the least expensive g1 transformers on the site (under $20) so I got him.
Why are they so expensive lol. Hell the original ones when they came out we're like $7-$13. Why they are $30-$80 is beyond me. Very cool but overpriced.
Corners of the reissue boxes aren’t rounded like the 80s version. Stickers are slightly different. Sometimes the head, or missiles, are modified. But about 95% or more of the toys are the same. It’s awesome regardless lol.
What up, George??? Man,the G1 reissues still haven't show up on shelves in my town. Hot Rod is the only one that I see on WM.com. So I'm gonna go ahead & order him & grab the others off the shelves. Also I agree about being more of a Hot Rod fan than Rodimus.
I got to meet Kim the designer and photographer for all of kenner's Star Wars packaging products for the vehicles and for all the photography on the backs of the card backs for the figures. He told me in specifics that when they asked for the photography for the original Boba Fett especially for the firing mechanism Boba Fett which is extremely rare and expensive he gave them the photography but specified for one change to be added so that tells me that all the issues do that for a purpose and everyone on this Paige has written is correct they do this for a purpose so that they cannot be replicated... I met Kim about a week and a half to two weeks ago at a toy convention and he's a great guy who ever get a chance I believe his last name was Simmons but I'm not sure I do have unlimited picture he took of all figures ever produced which was not available on any card back in the United States. He's a great guy and will gladly take a photo with you for no charge and his prints are the exact print and the same as the cover or face of the box for example the Millennium Falcon or a TIE fighter Etc.... he has also created and fabricated miniature reissue Star Wars boxes and will sign those as well. Along with that mini voice-overs for Transformers from the cartoon where they are I got to meet prow. But the most important part of this message is that yes every reissue has to have a small change for example Optimus Prime 25th anniversary edition with smaller smokestacks and the rims aren't as wide and etc. Hope this helps guys
why do you have to rotate the pelvis crotch piece around??? it doesn’t affect the transformation at all and you can just leave it upright always. also you rotated his head the wrong way that’s why it didn’t lock in
I didn't know if I said it in this particular review but I say it a lot, my reviews are straight out of the box and intended to be raw and unrehearsed and are not for everyone.
G1 Hot Rod to me was always beautifully engineered. Looks great in both modes. In proportion. Great review George.

I got my g1 reissue of hot rod I'M SO HAPPY !
Happy for you!
Man did you say the G1 boxes look awful? No way ! It’s why a lot of people are loving this
No I said it looks like a knock off. The color could be more vibrant to me.
I love the g1 style.
Haha sorry man, yeh I grew up with these too I love them so glad they did a G1 reissue I need more!

Wow I didn't realize that about the targetmaster mold.
lol you beat me to it, I was gonna say the same thing
RodimusPrimal A-ha! Nice to know that. I wish it had been the original moulds on those parts.
It's official; this is my favourite TRANSFORMERS TH-cam channel. 😊😊😊
Hey, great!! HOT ROD was always my favourite!
I think I have an original G1 of these, and Blurr, Cyclonus, 2 Scourge, Galvatron. I think 43 or so in all. Jetfire and Omega supreme are my favorites to take out and mess with.
found him on the shelf of one of the local Walmarts over the weekend. Can't wait to open it-great review!
a local store I go to,had a rodimus prime loose figure for only $16.did'nt get it.might next time if I see it again

The first production run us packed the wrong way then later corrected. But like you said I still see both. So Idk about the value.

Like you George I cant stand rodimus prim as an autobot leader
Im just here because metroplex had a spaceballs cameo. 🤣
That's where Transformers begins to be originals and not Diaclone/Micromaster.
And being less exciting ( except for 4 or 5 Bots ).
I'm fine with these affordables
And the quality is very good.
Walmart can charge whatever they want. There's no competition anymore. Very sad.
Pretty much.
If you can find him he's between $12 & $18 in most stores now.
The 80's Transformers Fan Thanks! There's as many Walmarts as Starbucks so I have a chance.
