- TODAY I BOUGHT A VOLKSWAGEN GOLF MK2!! THIS VW GOLF WILL BE MY NEW PROJECT CAR FOR MODIFYING AND VISITING CAR SHOWS AND DRIVING TO THE SKATEPARK WITH MY BMX BIKE!!
THE VOLKSWAGEN TRANSPORTER T6 WILL STILL BE USED TO TAKE MY DOWNHILL MTB BIKE AND BMX BIKE TO THE BIKE PARK AND THE SKATEPARK!!

Harry I personally would try just adjusting the cable where it attaches to the throttle body on the engine. Probably just need readjusting
Use a heat gun for the plastics it will lift all of the oils that are trapped

If you take your time and do it right you could have a lovely motor. Don’t go down the 20 valve route been done to death. Do handling weight reduction/brakes before you mess about with engine mods. Good luck enjoying the videos agains cheers

ITS HAPPENING!! YESS!!! I paint cars for a living and your best bet for the paint work is to polish it like you said and see how she cleans up with a polishing mop then if the paint looks a bit shabby still then your better off taking it to a paint shop and get them to colour code the trims while they do it! Can’t wait for the next blog mate👍🏼💙

Cheap easy trick for the trims . Sunflower oil after a few coats it comes up a treat and lasts. Done it for years. Make sure to wipe throughly after though or bits will cling

You can use a heat gun. Use it carefully and it will bring the colour back then put some trim restorer on top. Works a treat

Have you ever tried DIY Hydro Dipping Harry? I feel like that's something you would like doing, and would be good for car and BMX parts modding.

Best thing I found to restore the trims is a Heat gun but make sure there clean before you use the heat gun

no dont fucking tell people to use heat guns, it will draw out the "fat" of the plastic and after a while when it starts drying again it will start to crack and you wont be able to save it.
yep this guy knows will look even worse after a little while after using a heat gun.. get some proper bumper restoration stuff

I've owned a Mk5 gti great engines with a remap.. Go all out man make it a show car. Id go chrome bbs wheels rather than bandits
It's a mk2 golf it needs carbs not a mk5 golf engine :D

I have a mk3 golf that had faded trim and bumpers, I took them off used some scotch pads on them and sprayed them matt black, still look like new almost 2 years later.

Should try and get an old pickup caddy, stick a ramp in the back and jump over it. Have bike racks Fitted in it as well. Fun summer car.

Hi Harry I am vw mad I have a mk2 golf 1.6 driver 3 door also we have a mk3 gti 3 door and a mk5 golf we did have a caddy but the mk3 gti will be broken for spares so if you need some seats keep me in mind, I have a 20vt and various bits for a conversion. Haha

I sprayed all mine with plastic trim spray works a treat ! Permanent and looks fresh!!! They sell it in Halfords
Now this is the content I like to watch Golf Mark 2 first of all you need to drop a VR6 engine in that baby get rid of that little teeny weeny 1.6 engine right away secondly you need the big bumper conversion small bumpers just don't do it for me you need a Jetta front end Grill and headlights definitely need to drop the Recaro leather trim you need to put Porsche door handles on the list is endless with the Golf Mark 2 there's so much you can do but if you really want to push the big power drop on R32 turbo in that bad boy now you're Talkin my language

I use bees wax spray on my bumpers and trims and for your clutch you will need to tighten the cable and lube it up love the new videos Harry would like you to ride some bmx and you’re dirt jump bike and pit bike soon as the weather in the uk is warmer keep up the good work bro 👍🏿👍🏿

For the door handles you only need to unscrew 2 screws to remove them, the plastic trim try Wurth trim and can be found on eBay

For the trims use a heatgun, it works great, they will look like brand-new!
Until they go brittle and snap, there's was one spot on mine where the previous owner gave that a go and I had to replace the front bumper because of it, just destroyed the plastic. C4 trim restorer or boiled linseed oil all the way 👍
Autotek black bumper and trim aerosol paint is the best bet. Permanent fix and looks completely Oe I’ve used it for loads of cars now.

You might want to try getting the colour back by using a heat gun running back and forth not staying in one spot for to long. We use this method to bring back faded colours on motocross bike plastics. It melts a slight layer to reveal the original colour underneath. There maybe some vids on here to show you what I mean.

Believe me or not but you can you cherry shoe polish let it dry and a few coats of lacquer look like new 😁 welcome to the golf gang currently got a mk1 golf under full restoration

Yes mainy loving the golf it is a beast or will be a beast. For them door trims me dad used kiwi shoe polish years ago on his worked a treat so worth a try. I drop the gift for the Tbox before at your neighbour with the st focus wouldn't fit in the letter box 👍if you need a hand on any van or car mods let me know mate am pretty handy had lots of cars and done lots of mods over the years 👍👌

Hey so basically if you get a heat gun you can restore the trim and it usually goes darker but if it’s not perfect just top it up with more trim restorer

Dude, i have to say that golf is sick, id use gtechnic c4 on the trim it does wonders and last a long time also a polksh and paint correction and thats all it needs for the exterior 👌

Paint your bumpers use the vw factory texture colours which use a matting paste so they will look like factory again....
Mk2 debaged grill will be a must . Loving the content...

Yup gotta get a good camera but may just use my phone for the mean time.
Furniture oil for your trim fella, any type should work. Will bring them back to black and stay like it for ages.
What type of furniture oil?
To take them door handle plates off you don’t need to take the door card off. Under the chrome trim there’s a bolt and in the door jam the other side of the handle near the gold locking mech there is another bolt. Take theses two bolts out and the handle will come off and the door plate will come off after that! Done this to my mk2 this week 🤙🏼

Harry Main not really, mine wasn’t rusty it just needed a bit of a polish to make it shiny again 👍🏼
Black leather Kiwi Shoe Dye is what you need to use on your trim. There is nothing that works as well. I use it on my 30 year old Audi.
You should be able to polish off the rust stains as well. Get a RO polisher and a light polish. Should clean it up nicely.

For the plastics use a heat gun brings the oils back up and looks as good as when they came out the factory
But don’t use to much heat only use a bit and then use a bit of trim restorer
Smooth peanut butter a few times the plastic will absorb the oil from it, youll have to do it a few times but itll be back to black, if not meguiars do a really good black trim restorer do the same few times and theyll be good as new!

As for restoring the trim and bumpers.... you can do it with a heat gun/blow torch there’s plenty of TH-cam vids of it being done . Or if you’re not that brave, colour code them and get the 16v big bumpers fitted.

I've got a mk2f polo and I sprayed my plastics black with plastic spray paint then use Lin seed oil to put the oils back into the dryer out plastic

Use a heat gun for the trims mate brings them up like new and for the paint I would recommend auto finesse revitalise kit with dual action polishing machine it's a easy kit to use as well.

If you paint plastics in a 2 pot satin black instead of gloss they just look like new plastics, works for interior too :)

YOU CAN USE BLACK SHOE POLISH ON THEM, put it on and buff it off, does take time but has worked sick on my k10 micra
You can use a blow torch to melt the rubber or plastic to bring the oils back to the surface and it leaves it with a dark black colour you should try it

Go over the plastic trims with a heat gun mate. It melts the surface and brings out the original colour of the trim back out. Just make sure you don't stay in one spot too long or it will bugger the material.

Cherry blossom shoe polish should last a good 6 months and looks oem. Clean them off with sugar soap then apply 5 or 6 coats.. Other than that, I would look at using truck bed paint, nice textured durable finish 👌

Heat gun will pull the oils out the old trim and make it dark again but with the age of them it'll make them brittle, you can buy textured paint and do all the plastics to blend it all together

If I had that offer I would 100% buy it for that price. I personally prefer the mk1 due to the larger grill with out the extra light cut outs. Maybe that’s something you can look into changing?

you should try and restore it back to original! original seats, steering wheel, wheels etc and fully restore the body and trims, would be a collectors item them and you can sell back to your mate for big $$$ hahaha, good luck with the project will be sweet once its finished.
Golfs are so cheap and easy to get spares and parts for.
