    The ultimate street sleeper - and it doesn't snore.... love the electric heater, so many conversions omit this necessity in a place like the UK. I'm subscribed!

    Well done. This is the most important part of the EV change over. Local EV expertise is sorely needed everywhere. Local employment, local expertise, neighborly service. All supremely important. If I lived in the UK, I'd prolly be one of your customers ... eScirocco anyone 🙃

      What about the EMF radiation these electric vehicles produce? if you drive one for 2 years you'll be sterile, Google it.... Don't get so EV happy mate

    I owned a 89 mk2 8v that I put a cam and flowed head on, I loved that car.

    Can the power steering be added to any classic car, or does it need to have had some form of power steering in the first place, like this Golf?

      Cars will either have hydraulic or electric power steering. We can retrofit either to any of our conversions, it doesn’t matter what it had originally.

    Lovely conversion, is it non destructive? Like could be be returned to original if you kept the old parts in storage?

      Yes, all bolt-in so it can be re-converted in the future if desired

      Hey. Any kits that we do produce would need to be fitted by ourselves or another approved garage to be able to guarantee safety and warranty. It’s a plan for the future.

    Where are you locating the axles and hubs for the Tesla unit? Great video. I want to do this in America on my MK3 Jetta. Maybe a MK5 Jetta with a UTE kit on it.

      Hi Mike, Drive shafts are custom with some stub adapters between the CVs and the drive unit

      @@eDubServices the MK2 and MK3 use the same drive shafts, I haven’t seen anyone selling the stub adapter for the small Tesla drive. Do you sell them?

    Model 3 drive, front or rear drive? If front drive due you have the smaller drive flange or do both use the larger flange.

      We use the rear model 3 drive units in this conversion.

      Be buy them from EV breakers b it we have to guess then test them before putting into vehicles

    That looks so good. I’d love an early silver mk2 with quarter lights converted, it would be the. Nuts. Used to have an 86 GTI and loved the car. EV conversions are best for cars like this. I never thought the 8v or 16v engines were that good. Made some nice noises, but 200bhp vs 114bhp means no competition.

    This is a fantastic conversion. When a car is converted does the customer have to inform the DVLA it's electric now and does it need to be inspected.

      Notifying the DVLA is very simple. The age of the vehicle will determine if it needs an inspection. I think 2001 is a the cut off.

    AWESOME! A2 VWs are Ferrari-rare in the US; this is a great way to preserve it while getting past all the decomposing OEM bits. I'm desperate to hear how the traction and handling compare to stock. My '90 GL had terrible understeer.

    What does an electric mk2 GTi weigh & how does a split battery alter the weight distribution?
    It’s an interesting concept but if it fundamentally alters the driving dynamics of what was a classic hot hatch- & I suspect heavier then not really for me. A Mk2 GTI is all about the sound, stirring the gears & being seriously chuckable

      About 180kg heavier. Like driving with a full boot. Still hugs the ground on the corners 😊

      We can’t modify the chassis so it if came to us as front wheel drive; it stays that way.

    Oh, my, God. I had a 16 v when I was young. My father had a 8v gti, now I jave my mk7 gti, my friends hsd a really Gti. If this car was another, it shoud be the same for me, but an electric Gti makes me cry. Surely a good work, but my head can't accept it

    Great job and one I’d love to do to my own mk2. Would have liked to see you keep the internal dash illumination and gear selector in the original green though, makes the more modern additions stick out a little too much?

    In New Zealand no ev battery can be mounted in front of the forward strut towers. For crash reasons. Annoying but I know why. You in the UK dont seem to have that rule. Hope they dont hit anything.

    Maybe I should look into having my 1999 Alfa Romeo 156 2.0 TS converted since our stupid mayor extended the ULEZ to the road behind us and now wants to extend it throughout London.
    All in the name of 'low emissions' blah blah blah, while he and his entourage take three range rovers across London just to walk his dog.
