Price, contents and price gouging killed it. This is a $150-$200 product, not $400! Bad based on price and Pokemon decided to print too many and not make them numbered or anything special...just print to no end.
@@SteveMahdits No matter what, that's always going to be an anchor around us western fans's necks it seems like. They take care of their own but everywhere else? Nope.
I preordered two of these from my lgs with the intent to open one, and keep the other sealed. After opening one I was very pleased with the quality of everything in this product (the boxes and damage counters in particular). What pissed me off was when they put the “exclusive” cards into another cheap product. Metal damage counters, very nice deck boxes, and a very nice play stand with three decks of very nice looking cards. I don’t regret buying mine.
I picked one up yesterday and considering picking up another one 300/ 280 I personally want one for my self I can top load and display Second one to keep and re sell later on
Releasing the only original cards in the set in the new box set you can buy for $60 was a big slap in the face to anyone who purchased the CGC set. All those cards are falling in value. Just an FYI, that Mr. mime, and the Blastoise both come in the $60 box set. I won’t buy the CGC box set until it’s under $200.
i scored one today sealed for $200 from a collector he took a L selling it but i brought a bunch of stuff from him and asked if id take it for 200 and i said yes ill take it for that price. the charizard alone os like 125-150 raw. like everything once these are gone i see it going up in price
seriously, you can buy a series s, extra controller, and like cod or madden for the same price and have more fun for two people. i know the cards are why people buy but the point of the product is for people to use and enjoy it so the entry price is a killer
No one talks about tcg graph scam from different countries because once I buy from an American seller, they don't convert into Canadian until cashing out but says I bought it at a lower peice due to a stronger us dollar
I thought it was bad right from the rip. I had the chance to buy this at Safari Zone on Black Friday for $270 and STILL passed. If I'm ever able to get one sub $200 I'll buy it but until then I'll use that money to invest it other ways. I do however think the product is cool, so much so I just bought all the singles inside I wanted for that $200 price point I mentioned. Cool product, way way WAY over priced imho
Normally a stickler for this stuff in my tcgs, but in this case had no problem buying; Only play Pokemon with family, and this set is exactly perfect lol Nostalgia. Fun. Easy. And good set of accessories? Perfect product.
I think this was meant to really be just a fun little product for beginners and younger generations to enjoy the experience and admire the older reprint cards just to bad that they overpriced it way too much
I love the cards, but I just can't bring myself to spend that much. In Australia the original price was $800 and the cheapest right now is around $560, I could buy four or five booster boxes for that and have change left over. I'm watching the price though, I might consider picking one up if it goes under $500 I think the cards have great value, but yeah as a sealed item it's ugly, they should have made it look better as a display item which would have definitely added value.
When this product was announced, it instantly reminded me of Magic 30 and the reprint of non tournament legal power 9 cards that you can pull from insanely expensive packs. It just felt like a quick "cash" grab of reprinting the base set artwork again for a premium price. The price point was way too high for the contents you get. The cards are not tournament legal, just like MTG 30. I know a few newer collectors all salivating all over this and claiming that it will never drop under MSRP. After the initial hype, it is now settling way under the MSRP price. IMO, these should of been marketed at $199.99, which would of been ideal. When it does dip under $200, I would consider picking up one just for the heck of it.
I have a question do you believe this is a good deal at $195 at Sam’s? I’m wanting to get this for my son for Christmas but not sure but thank you I love your content god bless
It's expensive yes, still getting it though. Have one on the way. I'm just not quite sure how I want to go about keeping the included cards. I play competitive and really like everything that comes in the box, but highly doubt I would ever play with the included cards. Debating if I just want to leave the decks in the plastic (kinda bummed the big 3 arent on the top for display purposes) or if I want to open the decks and send the big 3 and 1 of each pre evolution card in for grading and display them that way. Guess I have a little while to decide yet. 🤷. As for price, i'm part of canadas buggest trading FB page and I see singles that are just meh and ungraded go for hundreds. So price really is subjective to people. For me $420 cad (what we paid) isnt that much, for many it's too much and keeps a lot who enjoy the TCG from being able to own one.
Interestingly, many people focus so much on the price, when the biggest problem is that it's not "Premium" enough. If Pokemon Company International copied the same holofoil and improved quality control to the Japanese version, it would be worth around $350. A higher price point product isn't a terrible idea from Pokemon since this is a hobby that people can spend hundreds or thousands of dollars on one card. This product would've gone bonkers in 2020/2021.
I thought this was an amazing product but it’s way too expensive. The product should be either 200 - 250. In addition, the collectability and grading of the top cards had not carried significant value since everyone took that approach. I also think since SV151 just came out, this product was already doomed.
It was gonna be fantastic, but the pricing was way to high. So forget it. I found a Playmat that has those 3 (Bulbasaur, Squirtle and Charmander) and I can make it my own Classic battle in my own cheaper way
Cost is way too high, collectors don't want it because imo it is very boring so not a talking piece, players don't want it because cards are not valid for tournaments. This was such an easy pass on this product. I wouldn't pay $100 for this.
It just seemed rather out of the blue coming from a company that seemed fairly consistent with the kind of products they've been offering. All of the sudden they dug into the well and brought out their vintage lineup.
My first reaction was oh wow only 400 and you get a base set venu, blasto, and zard? That’s awesome.. oh wait what? Oh it’s just promo reprints? Oh nvm who tf is ganna pay 400 for 3 premade decks and a playmat
Man I got this for my sealed collection from the GameStop app with my member discount at 379.99 since it was sold out on PKcenter like everything else lol. Really thought this product was going to do better but never thought it would be an over night flip. I’m keeping mine atleast 5-10 years like the rest of my products I have sealed or atleast when I feel comfortable with the the numbers at the time for example if my sealed investment products double in 2 years I’ll sell. (Even tho 2 years isn’t realistic but just sayin) lol btw the jp version I saw I’ll want just crazy prices.
Theres alot about this product i dont like. The box it huge and boring. The only thing going for it is its being rejected. So the cards will be rarer. But I would rather by a 400 tin for display.
Amateur scalpers. Not saying this as a jab but Pokemon collectors are some of the poorest (price sensitive) of all TCGs. This was a no brainer to keep sitting on the shelves. This should have been UPC pricing MAYBE like $150 and even then it may have been tough to flip. Pokemon needs to stay in their lane and leave room for us to resell or their products will sit.
for me who doesn't have any pokemon tcg collection, this is worth it. now that I'm getting bnew classic charizard, I can finally say that I made it in life. XD

Just got the Japanese version for 180 with a lot of the cards PSA 10 worthy. ❤

The Mr Mime, along with 3 of the trainer cards, are also in the Combined Powers box. They’re hidden behind the Lugia, Suicune, and Ho-Oh.
