This does so much more than explanation videos so I wanted to say a big thank you for this kind of content as this provides those actively studying to progress further.

    Hello! Such a helpful video, thank you!! I have a question at 11:24 there's this 例文 saying " 必ずかぎをかけてください" but when you actually word it you say "必ずかぎをしめてください" . Are both acceptable and have the exact same meaning?
    Thanks for your amazing lessons!

    • @zeroimpact742
      @zeroimpact742 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I dont think either of these expressions are problematic. Hwevr, "鍵をしめる" gives a sense of the "action" of turning the key directly by hand,
      while "鍵をかける" simply means to make the key closed or to load the key.
      Therefore, "鍵をかける" is appropriate for combination locks, chain locks, and panel-type keys. ("鍵をしめる" is not used for these types of locks).
      For regular padlocks, either is fine, but "鍵をしめる" is more appropriate. imao

      @@michaelt6217 I am confused and tend to agree with you and @わかわからん… At 18:36 the English text states “can’t find”, which makes it sound like the transitive (although there is no “I” or other subject mentioned in the sentence). However, if this sentence is using みつかる (for the intransitive), I would have expected the answer to be the potential みつかれません. Then I would have thought めがねがみえません would make for a tongue in cheek answer. Probably someone has answered this elsewhere in the comments … but there are so many! That’s a good thing too. Great channel, great comments :-)

    Is there a place where one can practice their Japanese? All I can find is mobile apps and my phone is too old for those.
