I wasn't planning on taking any tests as I didn't think I was anywhere near a "certifiable" level, but N5 seems surprisingly easy. I only made 2 mistakes, and understood basically everything, including the kanji. Well that boosted my self-confidence.
@@yuna36 Aside from Anki, I don't particularly study much at all. I listen to Japanese radio sometimes and watch some Vtubers and anime for language immersion. Also I sometimes try to talk to myself in basic Japanese in my thoughts and look up crucial words to complete a sentence as needed.
@@yuna36 Personally I like Nekomata Okayu from the Hololive group. She speaks relatively slowly and in a very relaxed manner, making her easier to understand for non-native speakers. I rarely watch Vtubers actively tbh, I typically just put a video on to listen to while I do something else.
@@Kurtownia I'm on the opposite spectrum where I like my vtubers speaking fast and chaotically since that makes me more confident later on (natsuiro matsuri)

Honestly guys, even with the jlpt not being done this December for most of us, if you were planning to do the jlpt n5, don't worry about it, save yourself the money and target the higher for summer.

You kinda boosted my self-esteem because i was surprised of how good my memory turned out to be. I tried to learn Japanese about 10 years ago and all I've done is finished Minna no Nihongo 1 and half of the second by myself in express mode (1 lesson a day even if i didn't learned words from previous lesson). Though i removed all hiragana above kanji in the book (i had pdf downloaded from piracy websites). And now after 10 years i just saw it in recomendations and decided to watch. Turns out i was able to answer about 70-80% of questions (sometimes though i knew kanji but didn't remember reading). I know N5 supposed to be very elementary but still, it's been 10 years. Always loved how Japanese sounds and grammar was my favorite part (in fact that's the only thing i focused on when studied MNN), maybe i should give it another chance one day
This is the best N5 video I ever watched. I'm really struggling to progress and usually the N5 videos don't actually help, in fact they usually make me feel more hopeless but this video is spot on. It does everything; explains the kanji, explains why each correct answer is correct, expands on alternative sentences as well. This is really going to help me thank you. I can sing Enka songs no problem, but I still can't speak the language very well!

from the chats and talking to people who have taken the JLPT, they say it's a waste of money and time to take level 5 - just go right to level 4. Obviously, more knowledge is needed but that's the advice I got from a couple Japanese student teachers. Thank you for posting these videos Misa
I am a Japanese living in US, for the first question, I feel we can use 1, 2 and 4. 2 is collect grammar, the student will never go home. 3 is also good, the student had some trouble or took a long time to go home, but currently he is at the home finally. I didn’t know JPL until I saw it, but it is so interesting. Very good channel.

I’m watching this on the train to my JLPT N5 exam today! Fingers crossed for me today! This video was very helpful last minute revision. I’ve been self-studying for about 6 months (learned hiragana and katakana and some basic words before that). @One Piece Girl first of all the usual experience of the test might be a bit different as always has been since covid started (in my experience) it was told the exam was going to be about 2 and a half hours but then they've decided to do the WHOLE test in just an hour And I will say first of all I don't think you should worry that much because you don't need such a high score to pass the exam (with having the minimal score in each area of the test is enough) I personally don't study with any textbooks and since I don't know how much you know I would suggest using Italki bc there are a lot of ppl that prepare you for the exam (which is what I did) and they can help you strengthen your other areas For the exam just bring a pencil and an eraser Overall it wasn't hard but if i would really recommend you to study the listening part (Bc you have very little time to answer and it's quick, also u get to listen to the entire audio just ONCE) grammar wasn't that hard, just be careful with the particles and the vocabulary part to me was very easy and about the Kanjis stress bc they're the very basic ones (you can search N5 Kanjis so you can have an idea of what you will see) it was very quick tbh time went flying But don't stress it's not that hard So good luck with that, wish u the best and sorry this paragraph turned SO long but I wanted to make sure I didn't miss any details ^^ 頑張れ！(｡•̀ᴗ-)✧

@@sinharakshit First of all I think you should totally give it a try (because either way you can do it again) but I understand your feelings. I also felt very nervous and wasn't so confident with my level but I can guarantee you it's not as hard as you may think it is. And about my routine to be honest I didn't had a very strict routine but I did make sure to do it consistently. I would usually study like 3 or 4 days a week (only on purely studying grammar, Kanjis etc) but I'd recommend, since you can do the test either in July or December I think is better you choose December so you have WAY more time to prepare (which is what I did) that aside I wouldn't NECESSARILY study 24/7 I would do language input, which means I would spend a lot of time watching series/anime reading manga, listening to podcasts, music etc. Basically immerging yourself into the language so you get really used to it. Another thing that REALLY helped me was doing sample Tests. You can just search JLPT N5 sample Tests either here on TH-cam or in Google and with that you can get a very accurate idea of how the exam would look. So that's basically all my advice I can give to you for now. Remember, don't stress too much about it I'm pretty sure you will be fine 頑張ってね！(｡•̀ᴗ-)✧
Congrats! Is the exam quite the same as the content of Misa-san's video? I am surprised because Misa-san's exam is very easy for me (not to brag) so I'm wondering if this is really the same as the actual exam (BTW I got a perfect score in this video so I want to know if I will be okay when I take the exam this December I'm planning to take JLPT N5 exam this December but I don't feel confident because I am only self-studying, though I already memorized all the common grammars, kanjis, and vocabulary in the website JLPT Sensei, and can engage basic conversations with my Japanese friends online, so I would like to know if you think I will pass the exam even though I'm self-studying? hello there Misa sensei, i think you should do 1 or more videos like these, i find these videos very efficient for jlpt practice as it includes a bit of everything in one single video and most of the other jlpt practice videos out there focus on one part per video. Also i love your content in general, learning with your videos feels very easy and fun wich is a good thing considering learning a language can be very frustrating and one might feel demotivated at times.
You're not alone, it's cancelled here as well. But on the flip side I might be able to reach N4 or maybe even N3 with some hard work by June 2021. I think we should focus on reaching even higher levels! Let's do our best!

I'm also worried about the amount of time I can afford to give to my preparation along with my full-time job, etc. You said you studied through iTalki, I think it's a nice service. Did you also create a study schedule for yourself? How many hours in a day/week were you dedicating to just studying Japanese? Thank you in advance!
@@sinharakshit First of all I think you should totally give it a try (because either way you can do it again) but I understand your feelings. I also felt very nervous and wasn't so confident with my level but I can guarantee you it's not as hard as you may think it is. And about my routine to be honest I didn't had a very strict routine but I did make sure to do it consistently. I would usually study like 3 or 4 days a week (only on purely studying grammar, Kanjis etc) but I'd recommend, since you can do the test either in July or December I think is better you choose December so you have WAY more time to prepare (which is what I did) that aside I wouldn't NECESSARILY study 24/7 I would do language input, which means I would spend a lot of time watching series/anime reading manga, listening to podcasts, music etc. Basically immerging yourself into the language so you get really used to it. Another thing that REALLY helped me was doing sample Tests. You can just search JLPT N5 sample Tests either here on TH-cam or in Google and with that you can get a very accurate idea of how the exam would look. So that's basically all my advice I can give to you for now. Remember, don't stress too much about it I'm pretty sure you will be fine 頑張ってね！(｡•̀ᴗ-)✧
Congrats! Is the exam quite the same as the content of Misa-san's video? I am surprised because Misa-san's exam is very easy for me (not to brag) so I'm wondering if this is really the same as the actual exam (BTW I got a perfect score in this video so I want to know if I will be okay when I take the exam this December I'm planning to take JLPT N5 exam this December but I don't feel confident because I am only self-studying, though I already memorized all the common grammars, kanjis, and vocabulary in the website JLPT Sensei, and can engage basic conversations with my Japanese friends online, so I would like to know if you think I will pass the exam even though I'm self-studying? Thanks in advance! And please don't mind my poor English, lol.
@@unodumpclips There was more listening and also a reading part in the real test. The grammar part was pretty the same. I was taking n5 test about few years ago, before covid.

For listening practice I tend to watch movies. Thankfully there is a lot of good Japanese movies on TH-cam.

Exactly a year later this gets recommended to me. I have long passed N5 and in N3. Not the fastest progression but progression none the less.
Thats way more then me, It would take me 5 years to get from N5 to N4, Just keep pushing and move at your own pace! :)
hello there Misa sensei, i think you should do 1 or more videos like these, i find these videos very efficient for jlpt practice as it includes a bit of everything in one single video and most of the other jlpt practice videos out there focus on one part per video.
Also i love your content in general, learning with your videos feels very easy and fun wich is a good thing considering learning a language can be very frustrating and one might feel demotivated at times.
