Just discovered your channel and really like all the tips on how to lose fat and get back in shape. Thank you for doing this. Perfect time for me since I’ve been in a sedentary office environment and with stress, poor food choices and lack of sleep has caused me to gain weight. Trying to reverse that and prevent avoidable doctor visits. Love my new mountain bike and being in the outdoors through this COVID episode. Going to aim to lose fat first then gain muscle. However, I will be doing weight training along with riding my mountain bike. Consistency is definitely the key. Cheers from Los Angeles!

Hey Jesse, great to hear from you and I am stoked that you are on the right path. I would love some LA weather right now. Nothing but rain and mud on my local trails!

Hi Ben, have you considered an audio only format for content such as this?

Hey Andrew, no I haven't, although it would make sense for things like this. I guess it would basically be a podcast? I'll look into it. Thanks. Ben

Happened across your channel recently, great content. I'm glad to have found it and thank you for sharing your knowledge. It may seem simple, but whenever I try to get into a calorie deficit I find the biggest trouble to be the plain and simple feeling of hunger, which can be pretty powerful. Assuming it's not stress related or due to some other external factor, do you think this is all a "mind over matter" issue, an issue of balance/imbalance in the diet or something else? I assume I'm not the only one that fights the hunger pangs - curious of your insights on that. Looking forward to more!

6' 4 122kg I started walking 10k every PM and doing hiit and gym in the AM. I've put on 10kg but it's weird because it looks like I've lost weight, struggling with staying away from sugar snacks and chocolate.

That is quite a regime, Jimmy. Make sure you are not going too hard so you don't burn out. The scales are not always the best indicator as muscle is more dense than fat. I would rely on the mirror to gauge progress. Having said that, 10kg gain is quite a lot, so maybe the amount of exercise you are doing is causing you to over eat? Good luck and keep up the good work.....

@@thestrengthfactory. Thanks for the reply, is there a way to suppress my appetite after the AM session, I'd normally have porridge oats with fruit after, but get cravings at 11am. Should I skip breakfast all together and get a protein shake. Subbed. (Currently off bike with a AC joint injury that's taking too long to recover from)

@@JimmyJamesonJnr I would go the other way and eat more brekky, with some protein as well so you are properly fuelled up for training. That way you can train harder and will feel better. Less likely to get mad cravings afterwards as well. And also have a protein shake at 11am when you get hungry. I see a lot of people going really low calorie in the mornings and training/riding suffers as a result. They usually end up over eating in the evenings instead, so don't lose weight.

Hi Ben, I'm type 1 diabetic and currently undergoing a weight loss plan, I'm severely undercutting my calorie intake day to day, roughly how long will it take to see a change in my waist and belly because there is some stubborn fat there, I'm trying to control my sugar levels as best I can and I know that sugar levels will have an effect on weight loss, so what do you think my goal should be? I'm buying a mountain bike in a few days and hope to reduce the fat around my belly and waist as soon as I can to achieve my desired weight, which currently is 15 stone.

If you are in a calorie deficit then you will see a difference in a couple of weeks and probably see it on the scales a little earlier. Just make sure that you are getting good advice so that you manage the diabetes properly in terms of being in a calorie deficit. After the initial fat loss, the key is to be consistent over the coming weeks and months to lose the rest as well. Keep chipping away and enjoy the new bike!
