Celine Dion version is also powerful and excuted amazingly but Patti is just on a different wave length. Her voice just cuts deeper with more heart and soul.
Patti Labelle's version of this song makes me cry because I remember her being interviewed about this video. She said her sister had just past away from breast cancer as they were shooting. Her performance, the tears were all real. I remember my sister at that time was in the hospital in a coma with Encephalitis/ severe seizures/ and I was told she would either die or she was going to be a "vegetable". My sister was in a coma for about a month before she regained consciousness. She had to learn to walk and talk again, but she pulled through and graduated high school later that year. I love Celine's version as well.
I don't know which is more beautiful, her singing voice or her looks. She is the ideal black woman. God sure did take his tome in knitting her together.
Mrs. LaBelle, your version sounds way better than Celine's. I just watched an interview where you mentioned your sales verses hers for this song. I've only heard your version till this point. So I had to go listen to hers and I was underwhelmed and then I totally understood why you said your iconship was always being challenged. I get it. I see what you mean.

Is that the longest gap between films?
@@colleenross8752 For Bond films yes. Normally they'd be released every two or three years at the most
Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, this pure talent. No flashing lights, pyrotechnics, no back up dancers and singers. Class act and talent. We rest our case.
No auto tune i second the notion or motion ..yeah
Diane Warren is a freaking mastermind with these words. Patti's vocals are unmatched to any other. This original version will always be my fave!
Beta no it girl
She’s great, but, with all due respect, she does NOT come close to Aretha!
@@82mmkay I disagree. She is technically so proficient. Aretha is more distinctive. Dion Warwick is another amazing vocalist. Chaka Khan, Gladys Knight, Whitney Houston. We are all so blessed
@@chriscornelius2518 When you put it that way, I can’t disagree and think you’re spot on! Thank you for opening up another view to see it through! 👍🏽
@@82mmkay both great artists...cant compare an artistic piece with a next one...both talents are abstract. Enjoy greatness!
This is the original and my favorite version of this song. Can’t anyone bring the raw emotion and fire to this like Ms. Patti.
Celine dion did a amazing job on the remake but it is nothing like the original goat Patti Labelle
Celine’s version is lovely to listen to but her songs always feel overly dramatic and a bit over the top with her high notes where Patti sang this song with pure emotion and heart. Celine’s sounds like she is just singing the song to a concert crowd.
@@kenthuang436 Exactly! Very well put!
@@kenthuang436 maybe it’s because I’m a classically trained vocalist but I am more drawn to Celine’s version. Her legato lines and phrasing are so beautiful. However, the way Patti sings after the high note is so good! ❤
Patti knows how to deliver. The way she sung this song just sends something through me.
Absolute
Same!
Go patti
Patti recorded this video right after she left her sister, Jackie’s funeral and repast. That’s why she has all black on and was crying like a baby ❤️❤️❤️
That was touching when she mentioned that.
Yes it was
This makes me remember watching James Bond movie with my Dad. I love you Dad; I miss you; rest in peace.
Whose still listening to this in 2021?.. a real timeless classic.

The original & still the absolute best!!!
I agree 100%🙂!!!
Very much the best version
For you , not for me
Her hand movements.....#everything
Caj Catt Agree
Oh honey, that's just Miss Patti singing so good it makes her want to fly!😁
When the shoes go flying......guurrrrlll!😆
True pro, Miss LaBelle is, shooting this video on the day of her sisters funeral.
I'm so glad to be old enough to remember Patti making this before Celine!!
me 2
me too..
Well they’re only 3 years apart
I didn't even know Celine had a version... I don't want to know that version. Patti is where it's at..
Amen
Celine Dion version is also powerful and excuted amazingly but Patti is just on a different wave length. Her voice just cuts deeper with more heart and soul.
That moment when Patti gives you life
😢😢😢😢
😆😆😆😆
Don't judge a broken person if you have never been broken.
Always loved this
Emily P my favorite
Derrick Stallworth she's not one of my favorites but this song is always good
We have all been broken. Happy is the person who acknowledges his/her brokenness, for then s/he can be healed.
Broken but trying and no one has the right to judge it shows ignorance immaturity and I don't have energy for a second glance
This is still the best version over Celine Dion’s. No one can outsing Patti Patti!
wayyyyyyyyyyyy better
Just watching 007 licence to kill❤❤
80s are a great moment of all time
Who are these people who could give a thumbs down on such a beautiful song. People with no souls
Or people who dont know how to ask
Robert Rohan these people are simply dumb or stupid they do not know anything bout music...
Those people are maybe just bitter .or envy

She was thinking of her sister she lost THOSE tears were REAL BEAUTIFUL tribute!!! I ALWAYS get emotional listening to this song GOD BLESS YOU PATTI
How are you doing today my name is Eric Moore
@@ericmoore6716 Hi Eric! Doing Good! I hope you are doing well!
Patti LaBelle also lost her other two sisters to cancer...by this time, she was and is the last surviving LaBelle sister.
One of the greatest voices of all time. Her sound gives me chills every time. Love her!
reid kleinman i agree
She has an amazing style range!
Curretion her voice is the G.O.A.T
I don't know which is more beautiful, her singing voice or her looks. She is the ideal black woman. God sure did take his tome in knitting her together.
This is Patti's song no one sings it like she does
THAT PART!
Patti does a magnificent vocal on this song. She definitely owns it. I agree with her, all you have to do is ask me. My home is wherever you are with me.
There is a reason that there are over 10 million views to this. It is a classic!
Those shoes 👠 was flying at the end hunty!!! YAAAAASSSS PATTI
@@mobee7613 How are you doing today my name is Eric Moore
I FKN LOVE THIS!!!! CELINE said this is THE BEST VERSION!!!!!!
These songs never gets old.
She's the only one that I've ever heard that sings this song the way it should be sung
I was an usher in a movie theater when "Licence to Kill" (the James Bond movie) came out and this played over the closing credits. All the ushers would head into the theater when we knew this song was coming on. Such an amazing performance.
xingcat license to kill had 2 motown singer patti labelle and gladys knight
ppl back then when the movie came out just wasn't ready for that movie. totally underrated bond film and the soundtrack didn't even get enough credit either which is sad.
Beautiful ❤❤
Just saw it tonight lol omg 😚.... Never new the song was on the sound track... Huge Janes Bond fan dont know how how this slip me..... 30 years old soooo i grew up on ... 007. Just came on tv.. the irony
I found your comment interesting because I was an usher as well while this movie was in our theater. To this day, when it gets to the end of the song, "James Bond will return" always pops in my head.....
Sooooo smooth! Man we really had it soooo good when we was coming up! Take me back… one song at a time 😍❤️
HAPPY 77th BIRTHDAY BELATEDLY (May 24, 2021) TO OUR WONDERFULLY OUTSTANDING SONGBIRD MISS PATTI LABELLE! MUCH LOVE 2 U MAMA P!👍
