Who is listening in 2024
Me... The incomparable Patti Labelle.
Me, I love Patty
Me...Everyday😊
Me..
I love it ❤❤
She just left a funeral of her sister and came and put in the work. Damn, that just adds to this already powerful song . Celine did well too
I’m listening in 2024. I’ve always loved this song 64 years old. I’m widowed for the second time and I’m looking for my last love and I think I found them God willing.
I'm sitting on couch just seen old party labelle o ln showtime Apollo my mom is sitting on wheelchair 80 yrs old n seen ur post. You'll find him girl. God bless n enjoy it
Hope and pray you have found lasting happiness, Cathy, after so much sorrow. God be with you.
If you ask me too❤
The tear that Ms Patti shed was real, she stated that she was thinking of her sister that past recently before this video. Such a magnificent voice, such a magnificent person...I've been listening to you since 1975.
Yes! She had just left her funeral and came to do this video.
Real talk
Patti LaBelle understood the assignment and she crushed it
Legend has it she did this in one take and never came back for corrections from the engineers' POV due to personal issues she was going through at the time.
Hence the Celine Dion remake some years later.
Sorry Celine but this is Patti’s song all the way! She rocks it! No contest. ❤
Both ladies did amazing. Both brought something unique and beautiful.
Yes!
@@helixmoore7636 totally agree with you 💗💗💗💙💙💙❤❤❤
I disagree... I love Patti, but Celine's vocals brought this song the power it needed.
100%
One of the best "James Bond" songs ever. The perfect way to bid farewell to Timothy Dalton, and the classic 007 film series.
This was the perfect payoff from the tag line between Bond and Pam.
🤵🏻🍸
Couldn't agree with you more.
God save you, Commander.
This song has me wondering if Dalton's Bond left MI6. He would have made a great bounty hunter!
"Why don't you wait till you're asked?"
"So why don't you ask?"
The female black singers of that period (Chaka Khan, Patti Labelle, Lisa Fischer, Anita Baker, Roberta Flack etc.) was simple marvelous. The great era of the ballads.
wat about mariah, whitney, bernadette?
Angle Johnson What about Tina Turner?
yt? yy
Tina Turner for golden eye was eye opener for all female singers
Angelique Martínez you forget a couple Deniece williams,Brenda rusell,Shannon,Oleta Adams,Stephanie mills,Whitney houston and the list goes on.
No wonder Celine’s version is beautiful considering that the original was already topnotch and great to begin with. Queen Patti owns this song!
Yeah.I dont think of that celine chick.I like this.It is in license to kill and therefor it is the definitve version for me.
Celine butchered this song like she butcher's everything else
The album which this song comes from Be Yourself is also a beautiful studio album too.
@@collinsnider4179 Interesting choice of words there. Butchered!!! She did more than okay. But here it's where we at.
Celine Dion stole this song from Patti LaBelle in 1992 shame on her
Patti LaBelle should have sued Celine Dion over comyright
First off, I wanna dedicate this song to my new found financial freedom, therefore I just paid off my house in full earlier this year at the age of 40 years old, and I'm now rejoicing by way of crying sweet tears of joy 😂.
And all is right in my life.
Thank you Jesus, my prayers have been answered.
👊🤝💯🎉
So happy for you, Remain blessed.
What a great blessing! I'm praying for the same, but don't quite see the light at the end of this dark tunnel.
🤜💥🤛
Congratulations 🎉👏
Still listening...in 1989, a cute boy named Tony played this for me, and a few short months later, we started a life together. He died two years after, and this song still takes me back to him and our time together. Someday we'll be together again. I hope Patti is there to sing at our reunion. Until then, queue up the video again for me! ❤
Wow im sorry to héar your loss. Dam thats Hurts, but i hope you had the grandest Time together . Have a great life.
I'm
« License to Kill » brought me here. A Bond favorite of mine.
Good movie!!!
Me as well...
That was one of best credits in the James Bond history. Thank you Timothy Dalton 🙏🙏
Licence to Kill's credits really feels like a loving farewell to the 1980's and Classic Bond as well.
@@mr.pickaxe1101 I definitely agree with you. Dalton is one of the best Bond actors. 'If there was a man' played in the end credits of the Living Daylight is another excellent song.
@@mr.pickaxe1101 Timothy Dalton got a raw deal playing bond, the writing was underachieving on both films
Timothy Dalton was a really good James Bond.
That making love scene with Pam Bouvier after Bond chose her over Lupe Lamora was also one of the greatest
One of the greatest female vocalists of all time.
And they better know it 🔥🔥🔥
NO DOUBT!
This was one of Patti's most powerful songs ever
Hell yeah !!!
She buried her baby sister the day before shooting this video which was on her sister’s birthday 😢

Who is still listening in 2021? Absolutely phenomenal performance. She recorded it just after her sister passed away with Cancer. What a tribute! I will have it played at my funeral. ❤❤
She is the original and I love this song.
Oh shut up
I cry every time!
This is a great song.
And the music video was shot a day after her sister’s funeral.
Patti LaBelle is a QUEEN. Diane Warren is a GODDESS for writing such a masterpiece.
The legendary Diane Warren has given our planet so many timeless eternal classics ! ❤🎶🙌

Patti said way back when and she was dating Otis Williams of the Temptations he asked her to marry him BUT he wanted her to give up on her singing career. I’m so glad she didn’t listen. We would have missed out on such a great singer and a awesome voice
We saw her on the Kelly Clarkson show and at 80 years she`s still got it🥰
She shot this video the day of her sister’s funeral. Such a powerful and strong performance.
Wow 👏😪❤
Actually the day after the funeral and then lose her father 3 months later, 1989 was a bad year for Ms patti
@@1trl2 she has lost too many 💔
So touching she is singing about a truly loved one rather than some stupid boyfriend....i can really feel the emotion in the song....simple song but so beautiful.
I remember Donnie Simpson talking about that on BET Video Soul.
When she kicks her shoes off, it's on. She is taking no prisoners. The Empress of Soul, Patti labelle.
Thanks for your help in this matter is greatly for the first half and I will get it to you tomorrow when
Ok!? You know it's 100% not a game when the shoes come flying off!
She had just left her sisters funeral when she did this video. She was in a lot of pain
She's the godmother of soul Gladys is the empress
@@treylangnfsmith8537 Thanks for the correction. You haven't lied. Gladys is truly the Empress ,while Miss Patti is the Godmother. You know your music! the correction is greatly appreciated!

Just magnificent Patti, no one can touch her 🤦♀️ it’s just raw truth up in here!❤

She sure did sing that song Ms. Patti labella I love you 😘
Celine's cover was wonderful, but this is Patti's song. Always will be.
This song alone made Patti an icon.
@FriedSpamable bad news. Patti was first in 1989, Celine in 90s.
@Brent Jones 👍👍👍absolutely.
timothy chung No, no, no---Patti recorded it first. Celine covered it and copied the exact way Patti sang it. Unfortunately white radio, excuse me top 40 radio didn't play Patti's version.
@@donnasharpe7344 you are so right.
Patti recorded this video right after she left her sister, Jackie’s funeral and repast. That’s why she has all black on and was crying like a baby ❤️❤️❤️
That was touching when she mentioned that.
Yes it was
Her voice is so powerful and she is the only one who can sing this song, because she puts her heart into the song
Still stunning 34 years later.
Blinding
just watched her singing "love takes time" tribute to mariah carey, and she still hasn't lost her touched... damn, she's nearly 80 now, but still shines brightly like nothing can stop her...
since the late 80s. I am still listening right now in 2023, and it has to be the best version imo... no other covers can exceed this.

No one can sing this song like Patti! Celine is great in her own lane but this song is all Patti Labelle! Period!
Not the double shoe removal kick Ms. Patti! I have loved her for as long as I can remember and this performance is top tier forever and ever!! Whoever is still listening in 2024, you are my people!!
Still gives me chills listening to this song🔥🔥🔥 2023

This is the original and my favorite version of this song. Can’t anyone bring the raw emotion and fire to this like Ms. Patti.
Celine dion did a amazing job on the remake but it is nothing like the original goat Patti Labelle
Celine’s version is lovely to listen to but her songs always feel overly dramatic and a bit over the top with her high notes where Patti sang this song with pure emotion and heart. Celine’s sounds like she is just singing the song to a concert crowd.
@@kenthuang436 Exactly! Very well put!
@@kenthuang436 maybe it’s because I’m a classically trained vocalist but I am more drawn to Celine’s version. Her legato lines and phrasing are so beautiful. However, the way Patti sings after the high note is so good! ❤
I've met her in person backstage after her concert. The "REALIST of the real!!!" So humble and down to earth. She shot this video the day after her sister's funeral. Her sister asked her to come and bring one of her famous "egg salad sandwiches" to her. Patti put it off. She died, and Patti often talks about it in her concerts. Moral of the story: "NEVER put off tomorrow what you can do today". Tell someone TODAY you love them, forgive them TODAY because tomorrow is not promised to any of us.
Correction it was an egg sandwich not an egg salad sandwich never heard of that but I do have her book don't block the blessings and it's in the book also but thank you for sharing....
Yesterdays gone Tomorrow's always in Doubt the only time that matters anyhow is right now
Thank you for sharing I never knew this. That's why she look so sad in the video and crying.
So true!
Very heartbreaking to hear this.

I prefer this version Patti got the perfect voice for this song
Patti Labelle's version of this song makes me cry because I remember her being interviewed about this video. She said her sister had just past away from breast cancer as they were shooting. Her performance, the tears were all real. I remember my sister at that time was in the hospital in a coma with Encephalitis/ severe seizures/ and I was told she would either die or she was going to be a "vegetable". My sister was in a coma for about a month before she regained consciousness. She had to learn to walk and talk again, but she pulled through and graduated high school later that year. I love Celine's version as well.
Patti LaBelle also lost her other two sisters to cancer...by this time, she was and is the last surviving LaBelle sister.

Nothing beats the original. It’s so smooth and soothing to ears.
Facts!
True
Celine!
Céline Dion’s version
@@maxdominate2481 Celine did the song years after this one. Celine did nothing different to the song, basically it is like she is doing karaoke.
A true ARTIST takes a song and makes it their own. Ike and Tina Turner did Proud Mary after CCR and their version is the same song but you know it is not CCR when you hear it. That’s what makes it a true version. Any bar band can do the song just like CCR did…Or in this case, Celine singing this song just like Labelle.
And some say she did ‘better’-she did it years later, she had time to listen to it and do her little thing. It is not like she did the song at the same time.
There is one song like that, “How Do I Live” by Lee Anne Rimes. That song was also done by Trisha Yearwood. The songwriter wrote the song for Lee Anne and when the movie company heard it they wanted a more adult sound and got that from Trisha. Lee Anne released the song anyway and had success with it.
Both their versions sound the same, the difference is their voices. LeeAnne sounds young and fun Trisha sounds older and more mature. That is why the movie company wanted her, they didn’t want a 14 year old singing the love theme of the movie.
Patti does a magnificent vocal on this song. She definitely owns it. I agree with her, all you have to do is ask me. My home is wherever you are with me.
"Makes You want to Stand up and tell Somebody Something " She's telling it"❣️🙏

Damn, all these years i thought Vanessa Williams sung this song! Man, Patti was cranking out them hits in the 80s!
One of the greatest but sadly forgotten 007 soundtrack, from Licence To Kill's ending credits.
Patti's version is much more emotional, her dynamics, the way he builds up the song, just perfect. Nothing against Dion's, it's ok, but gives me nothing.
It doesn't seem to sound like a 007 song to me, but more of a tribute song to her special someone who passed away.
